I've driven by this little food truck several times; I only wish I had stopped in sooner! They've got a very condensed menu serving mostly tacos and burritos, but they have a good selection of "protein" to choose from. Feeling a bit too lazy to cook dinner tonight, I grabbed one of their asada burritos in the traditional style. It came with a decent portion of meat, rice, cilantro and lettuce. It was delicious! Marci, the proprietress, works hard all day with her sons and nephew to make some of the best Mexican food Columbus has to offer. Her tamales, made fresh on Fridays and Saturdays are moist, hot and delicious. I know it's sacrilege to say, but my two teenage sons prefer her tacos to Los Gauchos'. Always wonderful and delicious. Their carnitas burrito is a favorite but the veggie burrito and the veggie tacos are really, really good. Their hot sauce is delicious but so is their verde. I have been to seven different "authentic taco" places in Columbus over the last two weeks, La Poblanita hands down is the best! (They don't offer the delicious carrots but it's okay because they are not needed) the sauces are outstanding and the service is always exceptional! So far my favorite! How can you beat a $2 taco? I absolutely love authentic style tacos and this place does not disappoint. However, they are more expensive than most other places and that's the only reason for the three star rating. $3 for tacos is considerably higher than most places. Tamales are extremely good as well. Overall - I'm really surprised that I have lived in the area for 3 years and have only gone here til now. Great food, prepared with care, and a very pleasant experience. I am excited to go back and try different things on the menu. Below are a few things that stood out to me.. Unique - My dish had potatoes in it, I have never seen this before. They are fry shaped, but not... fried. They tasted par-cooked, but fully cooked at the same time. They were very good, and I want to learn how to make them. Spices and flavors - I found the flavors to be great. I HATE when food is salted too much. The salt here was perfect. The other flavors were great. Location and customer service - Despite being located on a busy road, this place has easy parking, and did not feel crowded. The staff was so nice and pleasant. Red and green sauce - This is very important to me. If these are bad they can ruin the meal. The red sauce here is great - spicy, smoky, and fresh. Moving to Columbus from California, I must say, this truck hits home. I'm also of Mexican decent & I'm picky about my Mexican food but this food truck is my go to. Great food, friendly prompt service, great prices. This is some of the best Mexican food in Columbus, and I only wish they had a sit-down restaurant. You can call your order in ahead and pick it up 10-15 minutes later (they'll let you know if it's busy and will be longer). They're always accommodating with substitutions for vegetarians, and everything we've had there has been yummy. Went there because we had a hankering for tamales, which are only available on Fridays & Saturdays. We took home three pork & three chicken along with a carnitas taco & a shrimp taco. Wow! Finally got to try this food truck after passing it for ages. The food is made with loving and skillful hands, and sold at a very reasonable price. I love authentic tacos and this is my favorite spot to indulge. Many selections of meats to choose from, but my favorite is the pastor. I have tried both the red and verde sauce and they each are amazing in their own way. Additionally, the burritos are VERY large and very good. I don't know what's going on with the management here but it seems that the original owner that I loved has sold the biz to someone else. I never see her around anymore. I wanted to order a total with eggs and chorizo. It's off the menu but it's the best breakfast sandwich ever! "We don't have eggs today" She always had eggs. "Does the owner still work here?" She's on vacation. Shrimp anything is gone. No more daily dinner specials, and my carnitas torta sucked. The prices went up by $1.50-2.00 per item. The tell tail signs she's not running the place? The hot sauce wasn't home made and the car in the lot is a beamer. Can you say bummer? I really liked the original owner but she had to be in the ville by 9-10 am. I went there on a Monday eve around 7pm. There was one person in front of me in line. When it was my turn, I stepped up and ordered 4 tacos (2 pastor, 2 lengua) and horchata! They have horchata! When I turned around (like Bonnie Tyler) there were like 6 people behind me. They have American style and Mexican style. I went American. The tacos were bigger than expected, deelish and garnished with slices o cucumber. I was happy to see beef tongue tacos and they were soft, flavorful and very edible. The entire meal was 10 bucks and they take credit cards. I had to drop a star because they double charged me, but my cc company took care of it with no problem. Really great authentic Mexican food! And super quick and friendly service as well. I'm a barber at the shop she is parked outside at, and I eat here quite often. Not just because it's convenient but because it's really freaking good! The burritos are huge and very filling. The tacos are just as good but somewhat small which is fine because they're only $2. Tamales are amazing here! The pork ones are a little spicier so I always settle for chicken instead. (Not a huge fan of hot or spicy). Overall a really cool, quick and good place to eat! La Poblanita has become one of our favorite places to eat. My wife and daughter love the mexican tacos and my boy likes the "Napoleon make yourself a dang quesaddilla". I have not settled on a favorite yet but incase of emergency I go with the three American taco meal and a Coke. You can even get cow tongue. The people who work there are friendly and great fun. I just recently moved to the Columbus area. I've lived all over mainly California and really love Mexican food. I kept hearing at work about the best taco truck around here. So today I decided I would try it. Don't let looks scare you off it's in front of a barbershop and it's a tiny yellow food truck that has delicious food. The woman taking my order was so nice she recommended the steak burrito so that's what I got. I downed that pretty quick and the burrito is huge. I will be going back and trying other items. I can't believe it took me so long to try this taco truck! I think los agaves has them beat on tacos and sauce, but their burritos are so good! Not to mention the elusive tamales, which are amazing.
