We chose this place because we were in the mood for something that wasn't straight american food since that's the majority of places here in the downtown area in Columbus, and this place absolutely exceeded our expectations! Experience - walking in, this is more of fast casual restaurant where you order at the counter and pick a seat. We ordered the Osaka ton katsu don (chicken) and the ton kotsu teishoku. It took a bit of time to make (we understand now because that day just happened to be understaffed) but it was completely worth it for the amazing taste. Food - For context, we're from new york, and as religious foodies, sowe're used to eating some of the best food in the world. We've had a few ok-ish restaurants here in the downtown area but nothing to write home about so we didn't have much expectations. However, we were pleasantly surprised that this restaurant exceeded even our highest expectations of food and service even by new york standards. The chicken is so crispy on the outside but so juicy on the inside - the PERFECT katsu texture and the sauce is amazing! When we went, it took a bit longer to get our food but they explained that they were understaffed and adjusting for demand. They seem pretty locally run and they were doing the best they can. My friend suggested coming down here for lunch. It closed too early to come for dinner. I found parallel parking a block away while my friend found a spot right in front! It's tiny. Only a few options for seating. Most people ordered takeout anyway. I ordered the sauce katsudon with a side of miso soup while my friend tried the Osaka Tonkatsu Don. We both chose chicken. It's 2 pieces on rice and cabbage but our sauces were different. Delicious! There aren't a ton of places in town that serve katsu to my knowledge. It's definitely better that Tensuke Market lol Portion sizes were not bad. It wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be for lunch. We recently went to Japan so we were super excited to try this place and I can confidently say we were not let down. It's a cozy restaurant that offers different forms of katsu (curry, katsudon, sandwich, etc) and onigiri. We both got the katsu curry and a tuna mayo onigiri and we cleaned our plates. Noticed this driving by, and then saw a few people post about it. When I worked at Honda they would often have a different Japanese dish in the cafeteria each day. I liked the katsu don there, and the Japanese curry, which was kind of like a beef stew with meat and potatoes and carrots, but in a curry sauce. They have curry katsu here, so I got that. They also have many other katsus that looked interesting. Also, they have onigiri, so I got one to take home. I've seen them all around town lately. I think the place that makes those is shutting down soon though, so go get them while you can. They are a nice little snack, meat and rice wrapped completely in seaweed. The katsu was excellent. Tender inside, crispy outside. Just barely soft enough to pull apart with chopsticks. The curry sauce was rich and flavorful, though not spicy at all. Served with perfect rice, and shredded cabbage. The place is tiny. It was packed at 1:30pm on a weekday, and by that I mean there were maybe 15 people there. Probably best to do carry out, although they have tables of assorted sizes. What a superb restaurant in Downtown Columbus, OH! It opened in March 2025 and was a welcome surprise during a mid-June 2025 visit. I stopped here for an early dinner around 5pm after a pleasant late afternoon visit to the Ohio Statehouse (which is one block north of the restaurant on High Street). Lots of pluses! First, the interior was modern and very cozy. While most orders are for carryout, I decided to stay at one of the modest tables. This place is good for solo diners - but does not provide enough tables for large groups. Second, the Osaka donkatsu dish (only $10.99) was hearty and deeply satisfying (well worth the wait). Third, I would recommend getting a drink (e.g., Sprite or Ocha) to relax and enjoy with your meal. I would guess that most customers arrive here for lunchtime. But their dinner service was excellent. If this location was a bit closer to the Convention Center, I would probably visit more than once. Strongly recommend a visit here if you enjoy Katsu curry! read more

What a cute little store and so inviting. The owners did a great job at creating a warm and cool environment. There's street and garage parking available around the area. There's a decent amount of seating inside, including big tables and single seats. They're still expanding their menu and items but all what they had was very good. We got the Katsu Curry and Ton Katsu Teishoku. The chicken and pork were cooked well, not dry, and breaded with quality panko. Their miso soup is rich and delicious! I would recommend upgrading to their Ton Jiru soup, it's very good. Everything was decently priced, seasoned well, and felt authentic. I think the pork cutlet has been the best I've had in town! Their sauces were so good and the entire meal was flavorful, made well, and with quality ingredients! We got to speak to the owner for a bit and they're a wife and husband pair. They're both from Japan and many of the ingredients they use are imported from Japan. They take time to prep their meats and make sure that it's as authentic as possible. They talked to us about their experiences and their lives. The owners were so nice and gave us some samples of their soups, which we will be back for them all! Service: not the friendliest kid at the register, but not rude. Seems like a normal teen that doesn't wanna work, but has too. Ambiance/Atmosphere: inside is really nice and clean. It's small, so seating may be an issue, but it has these little nooks for two that are a great date night seating or for friends. Outside there's a few tables that are kept clean. Food: Katsu curry was good. Sweet Japanese curry with sticky rice, cabbage, and chicken or pork katsu. I chose the chicken Katsu and my only complaint is that one Katsu simple isn't enough. They're stingy with the chicken katsu's, but if you get pork it comes readily with 2 or even 3 in a portion on their menu listing. Tuna Mayo Onigiri was fantastic. Highlight of the meal for me and that's saying a lot as am not a fan of seaweed, but couldn't possible pass on trying a Japanese classic. Not fishy or oily and a great flavor. Not overdone on the mayo and that same great tasting sticky rice. I enjoyed that they were a large Onigiri and weren't stingy with the fillings. I'd highly recommend. Ginger Beef Onigiri was great. Tender beef and a strong ginger taste which I loved. Normally listings with ginger never really have that punch, but this was different. Toy tasted ginger in every bite and yet it still didn't come close to overpowering any other flavors. I'd recommend. Salmon Ongiri was ok. I enjoy salmon, but I'm not crazed by it. This was a heavy fishy salmon flavor and I can see those who love salmon absolutely loving this. It wasn't for me personally, but if you love salmon I'd recommend giving it a shot. read more

I met a friend for lunch, as I had yet to try tonkotsu anything. I'm not a huge fried protein fan as it can be on the dry side, but I saw pictures showing they serve dishes with the curry sauce, so I was game. The space inside is small, some window bar seating and a single wooden picnic table, but there's a few tables outside. Entrees are served with rice and shredded cabbage. I went with the Osaka Ton Katsu Don, which is two pieces of pork tenderloin katsu with their homemade Ton Katsu sauce drizzled over. The fried pork was actually hot out of the fryer and easy to chew. The sauce was interesting, kinda of a mix between soy sauce and maybe a teriyaki sauce? It's was good, and I'm glad it's drizzled over the protein as I can easily see how it could be overwhelming. The dish was solid. Good flavor profile. The rice was good (not mushy). Headed up, there's no tofu or other vegan protein used - you have the choice between chicken and pork tenderloin. Service was fast and friendly. Order at the counter and they give you a buzzer when your order's ready. Parking options are limited to street metered and the parking garages close by. Secondly, this place is ULTRA SMALL inside there's little to no seating and if there is seating you are smushed next to someone you don't want to be next and or they're all up in your face and what you're eating. The menu is simple with these pounded out cutlets of chicken and pork rolled out in the Asian bread crumbs and flours and paired with rice. Let's have a discussion about rice. This spot gives you HELLA rice as opposed to more proteins. You can add more protein to your dish but it's gonna cost you. For example I ordered the pork curry and it was more curry and rice than anything. The misses ordered some dish in a bowl with rice, eggs, and a chicken cutlet on top. Guess which one of the ingredients of this dish had a SUPER AMOUNT OF? You guessed it...RICE. Three quarters of the bowl was filled with RICE ‍. We were curious about their little seaweed wrap triangle thingys and we got the pork one and guess what dominated the appetizer? BINGO...RICE . I've never been to any Asian restaurant where they give you SOOOOOOO MUCH RICE. Their drink menu is limited with a few Asian sodas, American sodas and that's about it. If you do want a dish with slightly more protein as opposed to rice then choose the one that has the the protein of your choice, a couple of sauces, salad, sesame seeds and of course rice. Long story short the RICE should not DOMINATE the menu when all your advertisements feature the pounded out PROTEINS. This place is SMALL, with one 4 person table, one bar with 5 seats, and two 2 person nooks and some seating outside. I would not recommend for a big group to plan to sit together and dine in, but if I worked downtown I would be getting food to go from here all the time!
