Close to home. Inexpensive, but not great. I had taco and tostada. I need mildly seasoned food, so it was great for me. My daughter had enchiladas and she was not impressed. The salsa was not store bought but they need a better recipe. The guacamole was fine for me, but my daughter found it to be bland. I really like the location and the staff was very attentive. This is a decent Mexican Restaurant, however when I last visited I had a $60 bill and I gave a $10 tip. I come and find out I was charged $103. I called the restaurant to inquire -- clearly there was a mistake. The management staff was very aggressive and refused to give me my money back. They reached out later to admit they were wrong afterwards but made it a hassle for me to get my money back. They stated that "ooops, $70 looked like a $100". I'm getting my money back through my bank. Bad business practices. They seemed informed enough that this seems to be a recurring problem. read more

It's good for a local restaurant in Spring. The food is not bad but I have not found anything I LOVE on the menu yet. That said I have not found anything I HATE on the menu either and I have been here several times. While it's not bad it's not great either. There are 3+ Mexican restaurants within one mile of our house and La Presa is our go-to place. From their free white cheese nacho appetizers (two corn chips dipped in beans and smothered with thick, liquid white cheese) to their fish tacos, everything here is good. Prices are cheap. Their salsa is homemade and spicy; sometimes it's hotter than the last visit: a true sign of authentic salsa. Augustin is my fave server-we ask to be sat in his section every visit. Tacos to-go on my way to work 2-3 days a week, a dollar each. Hostess is never warm or inviting, but she simply seats you and takes your money. What more do I need from her? Their fajitas are good. Margaritas cheap-esp on Wednesdays. There is an old-school barbershop next door, so when my hub is done eating, he heads over there for a shave. Wish La Presa would: serve homemade tortillas offer sopapillas on their menu cut the menu down a bit (it's a bit overwhelming to me) have larger to-go cups (i think they're a 12oz size, and with two tacos for breakfast with ice in that cup, there ain't much soda) read more

Yesterday was my second time and they have won me over from the other Mexican restaurant that I went to regularly. Last week was my first time and since then I craved it. I want to love this place, but I'm afraid it's not meant to be. As a kid I grew up on tex-mex food, so I'm always willing to try the local places, in hope of finding a good one. The food is too inconsistent and it's as if they water down the salsa and queso to stretch it out. Staff is always nice, but that's about the only good thing I can say in our 3-4 visits. DONT. EAT. HERE. I repeat: DONT EAT HERE. The vibe when pulling up was less than positive. But we decided to give it a try anyway. We were told to pick a seat and that the server would be right with us. We were served brackish tap water-- and mind you I drink Houston tap all the time AND I saw another woman send her water back after taking a sip so I knew this water was bad news. We were served flavorless salsa with bland tortilla chips. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before our server came to take our order. I ordered the nachos and asked how large it was. He told me I'd be receiving exactly TWELVE tortilla chips with the large order. My sister ordered a taco dish. They don't serve black beans FYI. After another 10-15 minutes they brought out our plates, not piping hot but slightly warm. The twelve tortilla chips were all accounted for and the tacos had disgustingly weird shredded cheese over everything. The refried beans looked like shit and the rice was drier than the Sahara in summer. Furthermore what kind of Mexican restaurant does not serve coquita and/or Oaxaca cheese on their tacos??? Apparently this one. The service was less than par. Our server kept uncomfortably suggesting alcohol instead of telling us what drinks they had, which he could not mention. Either way, you are wasting your time, valuable stomach space and hard earned money if you eat here. You are better off going to pappasitos for "authentic" Mexican. read more

My favorite thing about this place is their enchiladas. I haven't tried them all (yet), but I definitely recommend them. I've tried their tacos, quesadillas, and desserts, but their enchiladas are their specialty. I don't like their salsa roja, but their green one makes up for it (you have to ask for it). My second favorite thing is their complimentary chips with refried beans and white cheese. It's small, but delicious (and free). Entree prices are very reasonable as well. read more

Used to eat here all the time a few years ago and it was good. Unfortunately i cannot say that anymore. I recently order a medium quesadilla and it was literally a taco. It wasn't a proper quesadilla. Anyways even though it was small I assumed it would atleast be good, false. It was OK, but I wouldn't order it again. I am a frequent customer here. The prices are reasonable, the service is quick, never had any problems with the food, and the waiters are friendly. It might seem off putting because its a "hole in the wall" type of place but it is clean and well worth a trip. I recommend it to all of my friends. read more

Very friendly from hello to goodbye. I always judge Mexican food by the chips and salsa. Homemade chips were great complemented by heated hot salsa with scallion, tomato, and cilantro. SO GOOD! They also have chips with melted cheese and bean paste as samplers which were also delicious. It was nice to have a change in complementary chips and salsa with chips and beans and cheese. I ordered the Paseo dinner (bell peppers stuffed with taco meat and melted cheese) and a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were your standard at every restaurant. The taco meat was a but sweeter than my liking. But my friend who accompanied me seemed to enjoy her meal as well. Frozen margaritas were delicious and had a lot of alcohol but not too much in it. Highly recommend if your in the mood for Mexican and you're in Spring. I was just risking this joint and I definitely will return the next time I am up here! read more

Ordered chicken fajitas for two today. Picked it up in 20 mins. Got home and it was only fajitas for one. I paid 38$ for the fajitas for two. My wife took it back up there and they said that I had ordered two hours before and ate half on the way home. The restaurant is 10 minutes from my house. They told her they would fix the problem. We had the chucken and beef fajitas and the beef chalupas...the fajitas were very good...the chalupas...just ok. The Queso blanco was really good. The chips and fajita shells were made in house. And the fried ice cream was one of the best I've ever had! We will be back for sure! read more

I had recently heard about La Presa from a friend who lives in the same senior apartments I do in The Woodlands. So, the other night I and my good buddy of 58 years (!) went there to try them out. Had seen the reviews on Yelp, so had high expectations.....and was Not disappointed! The place is small and stuck at the back side of a small strip center next to a Valero station. When we were walking up to the restaurant I saw that there was still some Christmas message on the window -- Feliz Navidad! I knew right away I was gonna like this place.... For a small restaurant they have a rather extensive menu. My friend almost always eats Tacos al carbon, so he ordered that, and said it was delicious! He practically licked his plate, ha ha ha! I went for the "street tacos" -- one barbacoa, one lengua, one chicharron in red sauce, one fish --- on soft corn tortillas. Each used two regular size tortillas, rather than the little ones. The meat was heaped on them, and I got the traditional chopped onion and cilantro......$1.75 to $2.50 each. The salsas were great. I liked their style of tortilla chips. And....I ordered a bowl of borracho beans which were great! (Charro/borracho beans are my criterion for whether I'll go back to a Mexican restaurant.) Service was outstanding.....attentive without being intrusive and really friendly. I am looking forward to the next visit when I will probably try their chimichangas.....another of my own favorite Tex-Mex dishes. I highly recommend La Presa !!! read more

By far the best tacos I've had in the spring area. They have a large variety of meats and are cooked for the right amount time. Greasiness is minimal but what good tack isn't? They have other types of plates that all are cooked to perfection but mainly come for the tacos. read more

Tried this place out last weekend. Chips and quest were good. I had the shrimp soup which was tasty. The shrimp were not very big but they did put a lot in the soup. Rice was average. My daughter had the beef enchiladas that were not impressive. The retried beans are good. They have chili mixed in it seems like. By far, the best tacos! I seriously eat here at least twice a week. I will say their tacos are ridiculously high. My husband and I will order 8 tacos and some queso and chips and easily spend $30+ on them. But nonetheless, despite the price, they are great. Food is great. They know how to make a great MeChelada. Waitstaff is friendly and eager to please. The young lady up front could take a lesson or two from the waitstaff on customer service though.
