I had a pretty good experience at tacos Mexican grill! Food was good, service was great, and the vibe was nice. I stopped in around 7pm on a Tuesday. There were just a few people in the restaurant, which was pretty nice. The server was super amazing and attentive + our food came out really quickly! I got the shredded chicken enchiladas, which were pretty good. I was surprised that the chicken in the enchilada wasn't dry - usually this is tough to get right! I do wish the refried beans were a bit more traditional, although I appreciated the way they were prepared. Overall, the food was decent & the service was excellent. It was a nice chill place to go.

Chicken and beef puffy tacos with rice and refried beans

Came here for a weekday lunch and it was a relatively light crowd. As such, our food came out quickly. It was hot and fresh. I ordered the build your own combo lunch special with chicken, beef and cheese enchilada and I added a crispy beef taco on the side. They remembered to not include tomatoes on my taco which was nice. I liked the taste of the enchiladas, they were distinctly different - if I had to stack rank them, I would order them as beef, cheese and chicken as first, second and third, respectively. I liked the taco -the shell was crispy but the beef was juicy so it didn't stick together, but It fell apart masterfully, so I didn't sweat it. The beef had great seasoning and that's what made the taco and the enchiladas stand out. My companion ordered the puffy tacos -one beef and one chicken, and she also agreed the beef was her favorite. She is also a lover of beef enchiladas and she gave these a thumbs up. They have happy hour all day on Mondays and Tuesdays, which include sealed drinks to go. My companion tried the sangria flavored, it wasn't the best she ever had, but she did finish it -her concern was that it had more sangria than margarita. We learned about the Wednesday fajita special, so who knows, we will likely return one day. I am happy to have found a great Mexican restaurant in this area that I can trust. Also, I believe our server was Lorena- she was very friendly and one of the main reasons I'll likely return!

Service was very good and friendly. She recommended the seafood enchiladas and they were delicious. Flan was one of the best I've had. Authentic Mexican ambiance. We'll definitely be back!

I have been here a couple of times and I have to say, that every time I had excellent service and the food was delicious. The person taking my order, Yolanda, knew that I was Muslim and immediately told me which foods would be safe for me to eat and I appreciate her so much. She told me which ones had pork so I knew which ones to avoid. There was someone whose name tag I didn't notice, but he kept asking if we were doing all right, and if the food was okay. So, they really take care of their customers. They start you out with great chips-- they weren't too hard or salty, which was perfect, with a warm tomatoe salsa and a cold green sauce. Both are delicious. I've had the shrimp quesadillas and the fish tacos, and the veggie enchilada. I was most surprised by the veggie enchilada, because I thought it would have grilled veggies inside, but I was pleasantly surprised that the veggies were carrots, black beans and zucchini, and the food tasted very healthy and fresh. It was different, but so good. There were a few different things on the menu that I need to go back to try! Would recommend to anyone-- it's a solid place for Mexican food and the best I've had in Spring.

Food was great, chips and salsa were absolutely killer. Loved the red sauce. The green was great too. Chips are that perfect crispy. Marg on the rocks is your typical Tex mex drink so nothing too special there. But that food... the chimmy with the ground beef. Stellar. Rice was delicious beans are good too. Quaint little spot. Pretty full for a Friday night but service was wonderful and the staff worked like a team. Great place.

This is the best in Spring! The Cadillac Margarita is my go to and is always made perfectly. The staff are always amazing and fast.

    Mixed Fajitas Ay Ay Ay

Have to rate it 5-star simply based on the manner in which Lorena and Manuel handled my meal experience. Ordered the Mixed Fajitas Ay Ay Ay for two; knew that it would be spicy and Manuel confirmed, but was not prepared for the dousing of radioactive Habanero sauce that the Fajita came in. While the sauce itself in small quantities served to enhance Salsa flavors, so much of it covering the entire dish was unexpected (wasn't aware that spicy meant that). Could barely get through 1/3 of the meal - Manuel noticed I was uncomfortable and upon my mentioning that the dish was too fiery, he brought in Lorena, the owner. She was extremely gracious, understood my predicament, and instructed that a new Fajita dish sans the spicy sauce be prepared. The replacement dish was just fine, meats were tender and tasty. The other dish was a grilled chicken healthy bowl, which tasted fine. Overall, turned out to be a winner. The meal with taxes and tip ran $80. These are people who genuinely care that you have a good experience. Do visit them and try their fare.

Why 4 stars? Because it was a pretty typical Tex-Mex experience. --- --- --- I say this every time I write a review for a Tex-Mex place: how do they all stay open? There are 10 million of them in the Houston metro and the difference between the worst one and the best one is like 10%. But hey, I guess I can't be too dumbfounded when I've been to like 2 million of them. I guess I am perpetually on the hunt for the one that's way better than the rest. The good: The beef fajita meat, the onions & the flour tortillas. The okay: The chips, the yellow queso, the rice and the fixins. The bad: The smell inside and the beans. When we walked in, it really reeked of cleaning products mixed with something pretty rank. My wife went to the restroom and said it was a lot worse in there. But it either died down or we just got used to it by the end of the meal. The service was kind of a mix. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive, but almost too attentive. There was a rotation of a server, someone else, and a manager coming to our table and they all would ask us the same question, about 90 seconds a part. "More chips?" "More chips?" "More chips?" Again, I feel bad even complaining because they were all super nice. But I think they need to check in with each other to avoid that. It happened the entire meal. Overall: a very typical experience. We love Tex-Mex, so it's always going to be at least pretty good. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad.

    Authentic puffy tacos!

Puffy Tacos . Finally, I found a Mexican restaurant that serves authentic puffy tacos outside of San Antonio! Great service and fair prices make this my go to restaurant for puffy tacos!!

First time visit... service is great, ambience is clean and new, the menudo almost perfect.. the color, meat tenderness, and consistency were spot on.. but a little too much bay leaf flavor for me and no homoney (a favorite of mine).. and the are waiting on barbacoa... still, a very clean and new restaurant with great service!! Note, just a little pricey.. worth a visit .

Chips, salsas, and regular house marg; rocks, no salt.

While sitting in the rain at the post office on Louetta my stomach reminded me of my up to this point unfulfilled desire for cheese enchiladas. So I turn to Yelp and search "best cheese enchiladas near me." This new place Tavo's comes up. 6 reviews and all of them are 5s? I'm somewhat skeptical but I decide to give them a try. They're on 2920; I forget what Tex-Mex restaurant previously occupied this spot. I get a booth and order the regular size house marg pictured below. Rocks, no salt. It is followed by a basket of warm tortilla chips with a chilled creamy green salsa and the cooked tomato based salsa. A nice contrast, and they both have a little kick. I listen to my stomach instead of my brain and ordered three enchiladas instead of two. You have a choice of half a dozen toppings. I went with the ranchero sauce as I guessed it would be the closest to the chili gravy I normally see on cheese enchiladas. Very cheesy enchiladas, just like you want. My plate is pictured below. A good meal. I was worried about the power going out at home so I ordered some chicken fajitas to take home to mom. 45.99 for chicken fajitas for two? Wow, I hope they're good. Update: the chicken fajitas were your usual Tex-Mex restaurant variety. Good, but certainly not $45.99 good.

The complimentary chips and salsa were good. We took advantage of their happy hour for drinks. We each had a Cadillac margarita which was pretty good. My friend and I chose the Marisco bowl. I chose the meat combo of chicken/steak and she chose the chicken Marisco bowl. My other friend had the chicken quesadillas. The food was fresh, but in my opinion lacked flavor. I loved the prices of Gringos, but did not like my dish as much. My friends enjoyed their meals. As the night went on the restaurant became full. They have complimentary ice cream and cones for dessert that patrons get themselves. When we attempted to partake, the cones were gone and the station was messy from patrons not cleaning up after themselves. I would return to this location again and try a different dish. I would also recommend this business to others for decent happy hour drinks and food.

To be fair, it is my own fault because I tried El Mariachi a year or two ago and thought it was gross then. However, I know everywhere deserves a second chance so I thought I'd give it another try, especially when I saw it had such a high average rating. Let me first say, service is INCREDIBLE. Truly could not ask for better. The hostess was really sweet and she stayed kind even when I could tell she was overwhelmed by all the people. We had multiple servers come by to check on us at various times and do things for us and they were all great too. Absolutely 0 staff complaints. I ordered a watermelon margarita and couldn't drink it. The syrup was completely separated from the actual drink. I left it completely full and while I didn't want to complain, I was surprised that I wasn't asked if it was okay. Had I been asked, I would've told them. My husband thought his house margarita was good, but he did order it frozen and it was already half liquid by the time he got it. The food was not good. I took one bite of my beef taco and pushed it to the side. It was essentially Taco Bell meat. No shade to Taco Bell, but if I wanted that, I would've just gone to T Bell. It sure would've been a lot cheaper. My cheese enchiladas were also not good. I asked to have sour cream sauce on top & was charged $2 for it. I wasn't told I'd be charged extra and didn't see anywhere on the menu where it said that. Even so, $2 for sauce is crazy, but $2 for sauce when the enchilada ALREADY comes with sauce on top and all you had to do was replace it?? Wild. The queso was okay. Not amazing, not bad. It's the only thing I was able to eat. Not my personal experience, but two tables in our same section had issues with their food too and had to send it back. $85 for that is crazy. I'm glad so many seem to enjoy it, but El Mariachi will never see me again.

There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal.
