Well, I am going against the grain here. The Monte Cristo was all bread with very little meat. I guess all the other ingredients are baked in all that bread? I didn't taste or see them. It just tasted like egg battered bread with a thin piece of ham, little cheese, a very VERY small piece of tomato, and maybe turkey? Very disappointed. The French Onion soup was ok but it's seasoned like spaghetti sauce, maybe it's a French thing. Was that a ton of basil? I did see some good looking dishes around us. We were quite hungry and ate all our breakfast! The salmon hash was good but the salmon itself was over salted. Same goes for the bene, rather prefer ham or bacon. Otherwise it was delicious and don't forget to add some of their delicious ketchup and hot sauce:) the croissant with ham was really good as well as the caramelized banana toast. The first couple times in 2022 I visited the food was amazing! Service was impeccable! The last couple times I've been this year the food hasn't been as good. They keep taking the dishes I like off the menu and the prices have gone up considerably, portions are much smaller as well, which I understand is happening all across the restaurant industry but they are a bit higher than comparable eating establishments. I actually don't mind paying the higher price but it needs to be good. I will probably go again in hopes that they improve. No doubt, the pastries are always top notch. But the service sucks. My husband asked for the almond croissant that was in the display case and the kid behind the counter said that it wasn't for sale because it was for tomorrow. A. Don't put items in the sale case that aren't for sale, and B. Don't serve people day-old croissants at these prices. The cashier was sloppy, with her face mask hanging down, and also unfriendly. I had the tuna melt with side of fruit and a Bloody Mary. The tuna melt was mediocre; half the sandwich had barely anything on it. The bread was a tasty sourdough. The fruit was excellent- fresh melon and pineapple. The Bloody Mary was not good at all. Definitely not worth the price. The service was very good though. There were some plates coming out of the kitchen that looked very tasty. So I might try it again, maybe. read more

It had to happen eventually I guess, but prices have become unreasonable. And now there's a split plate fee. We used to split an entree, then each get a dessert. All at a reasonable cost. But prices are now so high that I won't be ordering anything more than a coffee and a croissant. But probably I won't go back for awhile. read more

I have been going here since Mother's day 2021 and have been telling everyone how good the food was. Went second week in October 2021 as was so disappointed. The taste quality had gone down. I was so excited to have the Salmon hash but I didn't even bother taking the leftovers. There wasn't enough salt, pepper, or ketchup to fix this meal. Maybe it was an off day, but I don't know if I want to waste $16 again. Hubby felt the same way about his corned beef hash. Still loved the croissant and jam! Not worth the hype. For anyone who has travelled to France, UK, Germany, Sweden etc you will be disappointed in the quality and flavors of this pseudo French menu. Items tasted for review: French onion soup - missing the tang/onion flavor, had a very pronounced, overpowering and disagreeable pepper taste; very little if any crust on top. Plain croissant - very large size, too puffy and a bit doughy in middle. Respectable crunch texture outside, but lacking in buttery flavor. Ultimately, bland. The side jam/jelly was nice albeit overly sweet for the purpose. Monte Cristo Sandwich - a total miss. Bread tasted too sweet ie french toast, middle was hot and cold mixture of bland cheeses, filling, ham. Not a good taste whatsoever. Side salad was good. Marrionberry Papillon - bland, no berry flavor Choco Cookie - stale tasting, lacking chocolate depth, no butter flavor, texture was fair. Thats the food...as far as getting a seat, what a mess. Sign for registering, but is not in the correct location, servers who when asked provide incorrect guidance on how to get a seat, random inside/outside hostess table adds to the confusion. Server couldn't care less that I clearly didnt like the food items. Avoid. read more

New venue in Vancouver - the menu is full of fresh & delicious options. Baked goods & desserts are also top of the line! I love the giant croissants and fresh made bread. Enjoyed fresh juice blends with our meals. Dine-in wait can be long (20 minutes to an hour) if your timing is lunch but they have a great app for you to track your place in line then receive a text when your table is ready! Take out (full menu) and Bakery case (limited options) are alternatives. Seating is available inside, outside under cover with heat lamps, or upstairs. read more

Food was delicious as usual. But the customer service is awful. We were seated in the patio area on Sunday morning, 7/28, when it was overcast and breezy. Therefore I requested the heat lamps be turned on. When our server left our table, diners at an adjacent table told us that they had made the same request of their server 6 times. Oh, they would turn on the lamps for a little while and turn them off shortly thereafter. We experienced the same treatment. When I requested the lamps be turned on again, our server told us that "that would be a big problem." Why? He never explained. There were young children shivering on the patio but the staff didn't seem to care. If the staff/restaurant mgmt refuse to keep the heat lamps on when the weather is chilly, why do they seat their customers on the patio?? When restaurants become very popular and have endless lines of customers, they seem to become arrogant, cocky and dismiss customers' requests. I no longer plan to dine there. read more

I ordered Banana French Toast and Onion Soup. The Toast was absolutely delicious, but the Soup flavor was too strong that I just took about 4 spoons of 8oz soup, which looked like 10% out of 100%. Besides that, the cheese in soup was not perfectly melted as expected. The server apologized for that, then took this soup bowl back to the kitchen. And then, he gave me the bill that I had to get paid 100% for that bad soup. Okay I paid it. I am really disappointed about this so far. read more

My three year old son and I joined our friend to have lunch at La Provence and celebrate their birthdays last week. The food was amazing as always- but the service is what I want to review. After the meal, (which was great) we left and realized that we forgot to grab some parts of a new toy my son had opened at the table. When I went back in the restaurant to get them, the parts were gone. A manager, Collin asked how he could help and offered to look in the trash for the parts- not only did he put on gloves and dig through the garbage once (he found a part of the construction toy!), but when I asked if he saw the second part in there- he put on another pair of gloves and went in search again! When he couldn't find the second part of the toy, I thanked him and said no worries and left.... guys the top notch service doesn't end there! As I walked backed to my car w my friend and son waiting inside, I see the other part of the toy lying on the ground. So I pick it up and get in the car, relieved. As I'm back in out of my spot, Collin comes knocking on my window with a pad And pen and asked for our contact information in case they find the missing toy parts! Guys! This was above and beyond for a plastic toy part! I mean, the man already dug through the garbage TWICE looking for the lost pieces. I've only been to the Mill Plain location of this establishment, and every time I'm there it's a whole new experience. The food and drink are worth the wait and the $$.
