Specials menu: Blackened Salmon Tacos, choice of two sides (black beans, rice)
    Christine T.

06/12/2026 This was my first time dining at La Ristra. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. My friend had made a reservation for 6 people at 7pm. Our table was ready when we got there. It was packed and very loud with the music and chatter. I got a Mezcal Smokey Margarita. It was not my favorite. My friends got medium-sized margs which came in large martini glasses. They also offer margs in a fishbowl or pitcher. The birthday girl got a frozen white peach marg and really liked it. For food, I got the blackened salmon tacos from their specials menu. It came with 3 tacos and a side of beans and rice. It was pretty good and very filling. My friend enjoys getting one of the burritos here because they're huge so she could save half for another meal. I would come back here for food, and maybe a beer next time instead of a cocktail.

Best taco salad ever! The carne asada was cooked perfectly and so delicious. The complimentary salsa trio and chip starter was also so tasty all three of salsas were good. The service was also great. I went on a hot day and was able to enjoy outside dining. the patio was shaded and had fans and misters and was not close to the street like other places.

I'm disappointed to see the stingy reviews down below. We had a lovely lunch experience here. The server Lexi and the rest of the staff were all super nice, always on top of things, and very helpful. The mahi mahi tacos were quite nice, and their cheese crisp is about the crispiest I've seen. We quite enjoyed the side dishes too - the calabacitas and the green chile mashed potatoes were tasty with just a hint of spice. It was quiet when we came and service was super attentive. I hope people aren't dinging this fine place and staff because these hard working folks get busy at times. Coming back sometime soon!

I was able to purchase this bottle of tequila after tasting it.

The food and drinks were great. The wait staff was attentive and very helpful in purchasing different tequilas to try. They had live music but it was not too loud or overbearing so you could still enjoy a conversation with your party while listening to great music. I would highly recommend this establishment for their authentic food and huge selection of great tequilas to pair with your meal.

Just some solid delicious food all around! Service was lovely. Food came out quickly. Ambiance is that of a classic mexican restaurant, but with New Mexican decorations. We will definitely be returning!

La Rista is a delicious New Mexican restaurant in the middle of downtown Chandler that you should definitely add to your checklist of places to try. I had a medium flavored raspberry margarita. The portion size on the drink was huge which as great when pairing with tasty spicy food. Chips and salsa were complementary. I enjoyed the green mild salsa while my brother enjoyed the spicy red salsa. I got the chorizo queso appetizer and the elote as my main dishes. Both were delicious. We also got to watch the suns basketball game . There were plenty of tvs for sports. The queso was piping hot and flavorful. The elote was seasoned perfectly. My brother had the chili Riano, which also came with two sides. The portion sizes were generous . The service here was very prompt. There was no wait for a table. Everyone was friendly and I would definitely come back here again.

This was our second time eating here. Just the two of us and they weren't busy when we came about 6:00pm on a Saturday. We chose to eat outside and even with the mister system going, the flies were a bit annoying! Our server, Hanna, was pleasant and took our drink orders and we asked for a bit more time to read over the menu. She brought our drinks and it was probably a good five minutes before she came back, which was ok but it did seem a bit long. She also brought a basket of chips with three kinds of salsa. The smoky one was delicious albeit had a tad of spicy to it. The other two, a green and red, were high on the spice level but wife enjoyed them. I ordered the Carne Asada which comes with a mixture of sautéed onions and peppers and French fries. You also have your choice of one side dish and I asked for the rice. The meat itself was charred to perfection and was very tasty. It does have a bit of fat, which I find good but in case you are expecting a more leaner cut of asada. The French fries was an odd addition and although I did eat a few, they weren't very crispy. The onion and pepper mixture was spicy, and for some they love it and for others (me) I scraped if off the meat because it was too much for me. The rice was "ok", nothing special and maybe a tad dry. And the flour tortilla was what I call a commercial made one, definitely not a good home-made one. It was thick and folded and uncooked and I didn't eat it. The wife ordered the 3 Generation Tacos, which is an unusual name for three street tacos! One was chicken, which was shredded with no flavor, one was shredded beef, which again had not much flavor but was tender and finally the adovada pork, which was so delicious and moist and flavorful. She really wished all three were this meat. The tacos came with pico and a poblano sauce, both of which were good, she said. I'm giving three stars because the quality of the food was "OK". The real miss was no additional water refills...until we were paying our bill. Once the food was delivered, server came over to check to make sure we had everything and we didn't see her again until it came to hand us the check.

When I'm working, I love ordering the blue corn stacked enchiladas with the calabacitas and rice. Easy to order through Ubereats and always arrives with friendly service & warm at a decent price point. One day, I would love to dine in this location as the one in Gilbert was very comfortable with lots of fun decor to look at. I imagine this location would be the same.

The food was great! And the place is so cute! It's the perfect spot for a sit down with family and friends. I enjoyed their mini chimis and their flatbread which was soooo good. I wish the server came by more frequent to get other drinks, but she was a complete rockstar taking care a group of 30. I can't wait to come back to try more.

Nice gem in historic downtown Chandler. This is authentic New Mexican food. If you're not familiar, think traditional Mexican with an emphasis on red and green chiles and their sauces. This is rich food. Atmosphere is casual. Service was glacially slow and my only reason for not giving them a 5-star review. Food and drinks are excellent.

    Denise M.

I'm from New Mexico, and there aren't too many restaurants outside of New Mexico that understand the difference between New Mexican and Mexican food--and they are actually different. This place has it right. The decor has the New Mexico touches, like lots of ristras (strings of dried red chiles) that you see hangingv every where in New Mexico. There is also the state symbol, the Zia, in lights on the ceiling. Very cool. There is a full bar, and patio seating. We sat on the patio to take advantage of the good weather while we can. It's kind of cool to see everyone walking by in their way to having fun in downtown Chandler, but the cars are also pretty dang loud as they drive by. They bring three kinds of salsa to the table, all delicious. Hubby ordered the stacked blue corn enchiladas topped with egg, the green chili mashed potatoes, and calabacitas (a zucchini and corn mixture with cheese). I ordered the sopapillas stuffed with carne adovada, pinto beans, and calabasitas. Hubby loved his, especially the green chili mashed potatoes. I liked mine, too, but not as much as the last time I was here. Next time I come back, I'll have the carne adovada short ribs, which I had last time--it was soooo good. We will continue to come back when we crave New Mexican. Great food in a great location with great service.

We waited at the hostess stand for quite a while as the hostess swept a corner of the patio. Finally, a server seated us and introduced herself as our server. We asked about the taco Tuesday special that was on a sign by the street. The only taco on special was a chicharrone taco (not even on the menu). We ordered our food and waited a very long time. Two of the tacos didn't have much flavor. One was pretty good. The green chile mashed potatoes were wonderful. Husband's stacked enchiladas were good. He gave them a 9 out of 10. I give the tacos 6 out of 10. The server brought us complimentary flan and stated it was from the manager since we waited so long. It was an okay experience but we probably won't go back.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance, customer service, and drinks were amazing. I'm a HUGE mezcal lover, and they had a great assortment of mezcals and tequilas to choose from. Since we were heading to a show afterward, we didn't want to get too full, so we decided to share a few appetizers instead of ordering full entrées. The portions were surprisingly generous! We tried the chicharrón with guacamole, ahi tuna tostadas, and the Aguachile ribeye. Everything was delicious, but the ribeye was definitely a favorite. We're already fans of it from their sister restaurant, Blu Seafood, so we knew we had to order it here. Just keep in mind that at Agave it's served as an appetizer, so the portion is smaller so but absolutely worth it! And of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We finished with their tres leches cake, and OMG... absolutely amazing. The perfect ending to the night! A special shoutout to our waitress, Jazmyn. She gave us incredible service, was so kind, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu. She made an already great experience even better. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks, delicious food, and outstanding service. We will DEFINITELY be back!

The Mexicano…read moreis, without exaggeration, the single best Mexican restaurant I have patronized in my entire life. My wife and I first came here about a month ago, and the food was so incredible that we had to return. Our second visit confirmed that the first wasn't a fluke. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, everyone is friendly, the illuminated decorations create a fun atmosphere, and even the music is at the perfect volume. Everything is made in-house, and you can taste it. From the salsa served with the chips to the green, cream, and red enchilada sauces, every sauce is phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and not overly salty. My wife ordered the taco trio with the crispy beef tacos we loved during our first visit. They are the best crispy beef tacos we've ever had. The meat is folded inside the tortilla before the whole taco is deep-fried, then topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, crema, and queso fresco. I ordered the enchilada divorciada with chicken tinga, Mexican cheese blend, crema fresca, cilantro, pico de gallo, and queso fresco. One enchilada was covered in green sauce and the other in a rich red sauce. Beautiful presentation and incredible flavor. I normally wouldn't single out the rice on a Mexican plate, but this rice deserves it. It was light, fluffy, never clumpy, and full of flavor. Clearly homemade--and homemade extremely well. The food arrived piping hot and so quickly that it actually beat our cocktails to the table--and the drinks didn't take long! I had a double dirty martini and my wife had a Long Island iced tea. Both were noticeably stronger than standard restaurant cocktails. They definitely don't skimp on the alcohol. The waitstaff are impeccably trained--attentive without being intrusive. They check back within a minute or two, and finished dishes disappear almost immediately. Two floor managers also came by to check on us, laughing and joking and making us feel genuinely welcome. At one point I retrieved a menu to check the spelling of a dish. A manager noticed, rushed over, and apologetically asked whether someone had forgotten to give us one. I explained that everything was fine, but his awareness and concern were incredibly refreshing. I also appreciated their sanitation practices. Bussers don't carry open tubs of dirty dishes through the dining room; they take the trays directly to the back. Each table is also cleaned with a fresh disposable wipe instead of the same dirty rag being reused from table to table. Finally, the made-to-order pineapple flan takes about 15 minutes because it isn't frozen or prepackaged. Once you've reached perfection, there is no need to change, so I ordered it again. It comes in caramel sauce with warm pineapple, whipped cream, and a crisp wafer. The texture is unbelievably smooth and creamy, with exactly the right sweetness. It is literally the best flan I have ever eaten. Even my wife, who doesn't like flan, loves this flan. My wife summed it up perfectly: If you want Mexican food with a genuine home-cooked quality, this is probably the best place you could choose. The Mexicano has exceptional food, strong drinks, impeccable service, outstanding cleanliness, and truly attentive management. This isn't merely my favorite Mexican restaurant in Chandler--it is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever patronized anywhere. We will absolutely be back!

We ordered a few apps to share and had: - Chips with Guacamole and Salsa: solid - Queso Fundido: I was excited for this as friends have said they liked it, but the cheese harden within minutes and it wasn't as nice - Street Style Esquites: I was expecting more corn rather than mixed in another cheese dip and likewise, the cheese harden quickly. - Shrimp cocktail: it was pretty heavy on the liquid rather than thicken, but good - 3 potato tacos: okay, wasn't expected it to be fried so it was a bit greasy but loved the slaw it came with - Southwest egg roll: not bad, was a crowd's favorite and I liked the sauce it came with We didn't realize most of the apps came with tortilla chips otherwise we may have ordered differently. I got the frozen margarita and it was a bit sweet, but nice for the summer evening. Our server wasn't super attentive, but was nice whenever they came around. There's a sampler entree platter I'd like to try, but of all the appetizers we tried, the best was probably the chips with guacamole and salsa.

From researching on Yelp I learned this place specializes in Baja Mexican food, seafood and we were looking for a place that served ceviche. Bingo! We ordered the Torro de Mariscos to share, a seafood tower consisting of shrimp ceviche, cooked shrimp, octopus, squid, aguachile, avocado, cucumber, red onion, topped with a tomato sauce. Enjoy on cracker or corn chips. We were hungry and started eating on arrival, so my picture is post tower demolition. Hehe Checkout the menu for a picture of the tower presentation. I had a similar dish last time I was in San Carlos deep sea fishing and this was right there on flavor and freshness! Very comfortable atmosphere with bright color mural paintings and mariachi music playing in the background gave the feeling that I was in Mexico! Afterwards I learned that the owner is from San Carlos! Wow! Small world! We will be back! Highly recommended for Baja Mexican food!

I ordered the tuna tostada and a small side of rice. Both were packed with flavor! Cute spot with artwork around Next time I come I want to try the drinks here! My server was Jeny and she was nice. This place looks like it gets busy also loved that they had the World Cup match playing on the TVs. I will return!
