Great food, service and drinks! Preparing for their cinco de mayo celebration, cant wait!

I'm disappointed to see the stingy reviews down below. We had a lovely lunch experience here. The server Lexi and the rest of the staff were all super nice, always on top of things, and very helpful. The mahi mahi tacos were quite nice, and their cheese crisp is about the crispiest I've seen. We quite enjoyed the side dishes too - the calabacitas and the green chile mashed potatoes were tasty with just a hint of spice. It was quiet when we came and service was super attentive. I hope people aren't dinging this fine place and staff because these hard working folks get busy at times. Coming back sometime soon!

Just some solid delicious food all around! Service was lovely. Food came out quickly. Ambiance is that of a classic mexican restaurant, but with New Mexican decorations. We will definitely be returning!

Sopapilla w/ beef, rice. Strawberry margarita

Went out on date night two weeks ago. We like old town Chandler - lots of varied restaurant choices. Wife likes Mexican, and we ended up at La Ristra. Summary: delicious. Good service. I don't remember our waiter's name, but he did a great job - personable. Drink: Tequila Mule. Excellent. Right amount of Tequila, Ginger beer. Wife had strawberry Marg - frozen. The center was the color of a traditional lime Marg, and the strawberry part was on the outside. Looked great, even tasted better. Not too sweet. Main course: I had beef short ribs (see photo.) That was a good chunk of meet with just enough fat to make it tasty, but mostly meat. Great sauce. Mashed green chili potatoes excellent ( could have used a bit more salt, but that's just a preference.) Wife had a sopapilla with grilled beef (small pieces that you'd find in a street taco.) She's not a partial to the "charred" taste, but that was just preference. So I gave her 1/2 of my short ribs (a sacrifice!) and took 1/2 of her Sopapilla. I loved the sopapilla and the meat. Vegies cooked very well. Not sure about the reviews regarding poor service - maybe happened, maybe not. But we were satisfied. Nice vibe. Also outdoor seating. Will com again.

La Rista is a delicious New Mexican restaurant in the middle of downtown Chandler that you should definitely add to your checklist of places to try. I had a medium flavored raspberry margarita. The portion size on the drink was huge which as great when pairing with tasty spicy food. Chips and salsa were complementary. I enjoyed the green mild salsa while my brother enjoyed the spicy red salsa. I got the chorizo queso appetizer and the elote as my main dishes. Both were delicious. We also got to watch the suns basketball game . There were plenty of tvs for sports. The queso was piping hot and flavorful. The elote was seasoned perfectly. My brother had the chili Riano, which also came with two sides. The portion sizes were generous . The service here was very prompt. There was no wait for a table. Everyone was friendly and I would definitely come back here again.

    Carne Asada

This was our second time eating here. Just the two of us and they weren't busy when we came about 6:00pm on a Saturday. We chose to eat outside and even with the mister system going, the flies were a bit annoying! Our server, Hanna, was pleasant and took our drink orders and we asked for a bit more time to read over the menu. She brought our drinks and it was probably a good five minutes before she came back, which was ok but it did seem a bit long. She also brought a basket of chips with three kinds of salsa. The smoky one was delicious albeit had a tad of spicy to it. The other two, a green and red, were high on the spice level but wife enjoyed them. I ordered the Carne Asada which comes with a mixture of sautéed onions and peppers and French fries. You also have your choice of one side dish and I asked for the rice. The meat itself was charred to perfection and was very tasty. It does have a bit of fat, which I find good but in case you are expecting a more leaner cut of asada. The French fries was an odd addition and although I did eat a few, they weren't very crispy. The onion and pepper mixture was spicy, and for some they love it and for others (me) I scraped if off the meat because it was too much for me. The rice was "ok", nothing special and maybe a tad dry. And the flour tortilla was what I call a commercial made one, definitely not a good home-made one. It was thick and folded and uncooked and I didn't eat it. The wife ordered the 3 Generation Tacos, which is an unusual name for three street tacos! One was chicken, which was shredded with no flavor, one was shredded beef, which again had not much flavor but was tender and finally the adovada pork, which was so delicious and moist and flavorful. She really wished all three were this meat. The tacos came with pico and a poblano sauce, both of which were good, she said. I'm giving three stars because the quality of the food was "OK". The real miss was no additional water refills...until we were paying our bill. Once the food was delivered, server came over to check to make sure we had everything and we didn't see her again until it came to hand us the check.

When I'm working, I love ordering the blue corn stacked enchiladas with the calabacitas and rice. Easy to order through Ubereats and always arrives with friendly service & warm at a decent price point. One day, I would love to dine in this location as the one in Gilbert was very comfortable with lots of fun decor to look at. I imagine this location would be the same.

The food was great! And the place is so cute! It's the perfect spot for a sit down with family and friends. I enjoyed their mini chimis and their flatbread which was soooo good. I wish the server came by more frequent to get other drinks, but she was a complete rockstar taking care a group of 30. I can't wait to come back to try more.

We waited at the hostess stand for quite a while as the hostess swept a corner of the patio. Finally, a server seated us and introduced herself as our server. We asked about the taco Tuesday special that was on a sign by the street. The only taco on special was a chicharrone taco (not even on the menu). We ordered our food and waited a very long time. Two of the tacos didn't have much flavor. One was pretty good. The green chile mashed potatoes were wonderful. Husband's stacked enchiladas were good. He gave them a 9 out of 10. I give the tacos 6 out of 10. The server brought us complimentary flan and stated it was from the manager since we waited so long. It was an okay experience but we probably won't go back.

Nice gem in historic downtown Chandler. This is authentic New Mexican food. If you're not familiar, think traditional Mexican with an emphasis on red and green chiles and their sauces. This is rich food. Atmosphere is casual. Service was glacially slow and my only reason for not giving them a 5-star review. Food and drinks are excellent.

I'm from New Mexico, and there aren't too many restaurants outside of New Mexico that understand the difference between New Mexican and Mexican food--and they are actually different. This place has it right. The decor has the New Mexico touches, like lots of ristras (strings of dried red chiles) that you see hangingv every where in New Mexico. There is also the state symbol, the Zia, in lights on the ceiling. Very cool. There is a full bar, and patio seating. We sat on the patio to take advantage of the good weather while we can. It's kind of cool to see everyone walking by in their way to having fun in downtown Chandler, but the cars are also pretty dang loud as they drive by. They bring three kinds of salsa to the table, all delicious. Hubby ordered the stacked blue corn enchiladas topped with egg, the green chili mashed potatoes, and calabacitas (a zucchini and corn mixture with cheese). I ordered the sopapillas stuffed with carne adovada, pinto beans, and calabasitas. Hubby loved his, especially the green chili mashed potatoes. I liked mine, too, but not as much as the last time I was here. Next time I come back, I'll have the carne adovada short ribs, which I had last time--it was soooo good. We will continue to come back when we crave New Mexican. Great food in a great location with great service.

The service was great! Sitting outside on the patio at night was great the misters felt amazing! The food was what I would say was ok. It was good but could've used a little more salt & lime on the fish & shrimp tacos

    Heaven R.

Decorated cute. Right in the heart of downtown Chandler. Conveniently located. I like that there's plenty of parking, on the side depending what time of day and an entire parking garage in the back for free parking. We celebrated my work holiday party here. First time here, we had a bunch of apps and drinks. Unfortunately the only app we ordered I was able to eat was the wings. Pretty good but they give with Blue Cheese....don't like nor could I eat. The other apps were elote, cheesy pasta, nachos, flatbread and chips with salsa. They had 3 salsa options which were all flavorful!!! The drinks were delish. The Margaritas were a big hit with the crowd. I ordered a Paloma and that was yummy! I would definitely like to come back and try the menu. They currently have a holiday menu

No one else we've had compares (and my husband grew up here, so he's tried a lot). We were so sad when they were closed for a bit because of the fire, but we are so happy they're back open! We drive all the way from AJ just to have lunch here, and it is worth it every single time! The complimentary chips and salsa is no basic basket of chips and cup of red salsa. You get your basket of chips, red salsa, hot green chile, beans, and white sauce. I don't even like sour cream, but I could drink that white sauce by the gallon, it is SO GOOD. All of the dips are incredible, mix the white sauce with the others and you're in for a real treat. I'm not a huge fan of green chile, but theirs is absolutely incredible. I'm an enchilada girly at heart, so I get the #4 (three cheese enchiladas) with red sauce and double beans. The red sauce is the perfect amount of spicy, where you can feel the tingle on your tongue and lips but it doesn't hurt. I love spice though, so if you're sensitive, it might be a lot. I always get an extra side of white sauce for my plate, I love the extra creaminess it adds. My husband is the wild card and mixes his meals up every time we go. His favorites are the chicken enchiladas with half hot green chile and half mild green chile. He also loves the shredded beef burrito with red sauce. He's had the shredded beef taco, and he said it's your basic shredded beef taco, still delicious but nothing super special like the enchiladas and burritos are. Finishing off, you get complimentary sopapillas, and can choose between plain and cinnamon sugar, and they bring a bottle of honey as well. The cinnamon sugar ones are so packed with the cinnamon sugar that they don't even need the honey, I just eat it plain. They're so thick and fluffy, I imagine that's what eating a cloud would be like. Our waitress this time was so adorable and sweet, I feel horrible that I didn't catch her name to about her out. My husband is a huge soda drinker, and at no point was his cup left empty, there was a new soda on the table once his glass was about three quarters empty (and he went through probably 6-7 sodas). They were packed when we were there, so that's huge that she was slammed and still kept on eye on all of her tables that closely! I had a mimosa and water, and I love that they give the option for orange or cranberry. All in all, you cannot go wrong with Si Señor, we will be customers here until either they close the doors, or we die, it really is that good.

Blanco seemed like it would be a good choice, however I enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Sitting at the bar, service was pretty good. The bartenders were busy making drinks at times, but overall were attentive. The queso was delicious! We started with the appetizer sized serving and the chips were very good with a thick texture and good crunch. We saved some of the queso, intending to use it for dipping with the mixed grill fajitas we split. I will put that queso on anything, it's tasty! On the mixed grill fajitas platter, the carne asada was the item we enjoyed the least. The shrimp was definitely my favorite. Perfectly juicy and grilled, and had a great sauce over the top, it's labeled as spicy but I didn't find it to be too spicy, it just had a good flavor. The chicken was very juicy and then the steak was okay. I would definitely come back to try the short rib tacos, as other reviewers said were pretty tasty. Blanco reminded me of yummy Tex-Mex restaurants I've had in Texas, although its description is Sonoran Mexican food. Maybe it depends on the dish ordered. Either way, both are delicious food styles. And my rating reflected my overall enjoyment of the green chili queso, fresh chips & salsa, and juicy shrimp. I think the difference between 4-5 stars for me, comes down to having a nice ambiance, attentive service, and some items standing out. My cocktail was decent, however I wouldn't order that particular margarita again, I don't love mescal but I keep trying drinks that have it because I do like cocktails that have a note of the mescal flavor not the predominant taste. I did check with the bartenders before I ordered it and let them know, they said it's mild mescal taste, but I think it was pretty strong. We had missed happy hour by coming in 530pm, it ends at 5pm. I'd like to come back next time for HH. And thank goodness they are smart enough to provide free 2 hour parking in the Novus garage close by . That makes so much sense for customers. Some reviewers said the restaurant doesn't have any parking options besides valet. We used to live in AZ and came as often as we could, and now it's the one place we always make sure to visit whenever we're back in town. We always order extra tortillas to freeze and take home to savor until our next trip back, and we plan on ordering tamales to ship for the holidays! Can't wait until our next visit!

The flavors were off and nothing tasted like the real thing. To make matters worse, I specifically asked our waiter if a certain dish was spicy because we were dining with our child. He assured me it wasn't spicy at all. It absolutely was, and our child couldn't even eat it. Then my child's quesadilla came out without the sides that were supposed to come with it. We had to ask about it after everyone else was already eating. Between the misleading information, missing food, and lack of authentic New Mexican dishes, this was a very disappointing experience. Definitely won't be coming back.

I split time between Phoenix and Rhode Island, so every time I'm back here, this place ends up on the list. This trip, I brought the extended family along, first timers across the board. No hesitation. They got it immediately. We always start with the Machaca pizza. That's non-negotiable. It comes out hot, loaded with flavor, and just enough heat to wake you up without knocking you over. It sets the tone. You know exactly what kind of meal you're about to have. Last night I went with the Relleno Dinner with the garlic pulled pork, and it was ridiculous in the best way. Rich, smoky, layered with flavor, and yes, it brings heat. Not gimmicky heat. Not "let's see how spicy we can make this" heat. Real, intentional, built-into-the-dish kind of heat. The kind that actually belongs there. And that brings me to the complaints I keep seeing. "It's too hot." Come on. Their slogan is literally "Some Like It Hot." That's the whole point. You don't walk into a place like this expecting mild salsa and a side of bottled hot sauce. This is not that. This is bold, unapologetic, New Mexican-style cooking that doesn't water itself down for anyone. If you want toned-down, there are a hundred other places in Phoenix happy to oblige. Service has always been on point. Friendly, efficient, and comfortable. Not stiff, not rehearsed. Just people who know what they're doing and keep things moving without making it feel rushed. What I respect most is the consistency. I've worked my way through most of the menu over the years, and I've never walked out disappointed. Not once. That's rare. The place has a personality, and it doesn't bend. It knows exactly what it is, and it executes it every single time. I highly recommend it. And if history holds, I'll probably be back within the week.

Much to our dismay, the restaurant was closed to focus on catering. Luckily, though, It reopens for pop-ups. This morning I saw an Instagram post announcing that there would be a brunch pop up today, so we got up and got ready to go. It really is tucked away in the corner of plaza and goodbye Safeway. Inside is a small dining room with a bar, and through the rolling doors is a patio with outdoor seating. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. There's a great, colorful mural on one wall and some fun lighting fixtures and art. Today's pop up was packed when we arrived. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different. I really recommend Tucked Away, just as I did when it was a regular restaurant. Follow them on Instagram to be alerted to pop ups. You won't regret it!
