Calamari was on par with expectations and the short rib ragu tagliatelle was great. I liked how balanced the savory and sweetness were between the short rib and the red sauce. Always great food, nice Happy Hour. $9 full fill wines, $4 drafts of Dos Equis. Service is always spot on. It was a warm day, so we ordered some lighter dishes and they did not disappoint. The burrata spread was perfect. Creamy mozzarella, Peppery arugula on a lightly toasted bread, drizzled with oil and balsamic. The Bronzino was perfectly cooked on the grill, easy to debone and had an aromatic light flavor of herbs. Ask for the side of chimichurri sauce. It goes well on everything they prepare here. Great food and service! My husband and I have always wanted to stop into this neighborhood gem, but never had the time. It's a bit more "upscale" than anything else within walking distance but still very casual so it's perfect for a chill date night. The fish was absolutely delicious and was cooked perfectly. I also thought it would be a smaller fish, but it's big enough to share. The steak was also very good - flavorful, juicy, and tender. One note is that I do wish there were more non-alcoholic options like mocktails. They ran out of bottled water so I was stuck with either tap (yuck) or sodas off the bar which tends to be flat. read more

I took some work friends here for happy hour. We got there about 10 minutes before it started. Our server was able to put our drinks in for the happy hour prices The pineapple caipirinha and cucumber lemon martini were very good. The espresso old-fashioned was on the menu, but was also very good. Happy hour food menu had a good selection. The chicken and beef empanadas were tasty. The muscles were excellent. Salmon guacamole was delicious. The salmon tacos were also very good. The servers were excellent. They were helpful in explaining drinks. The restaurant is in a renovated old-time bar. Came out to Philly for games and date night with friends. Parking is scarce so we did uber which worked out great. Restaurant is small but very homey. Waitress was very attentive and helpful. Interesting cart that was at the Pierogi fest at Olde Kensington. They had a ton of Mexican non alcoholic drinks that sounded amazing. I didn't have any but they looked really good (especially in the heat). I had the Kielbasa and mozzarella cheese Pierogi which was really good. The kielbasa was good quality and tasted good with the cheese. The sauce is really good (tasted like cilantro). I've dined here 3 times and look forward to many more visits. The menu is beautifully crafted with an eclectic mix of Italian, Mexican, and a touch of Polish. Every dish I've had was excellent. I especially enjoy the seafood soup. The cocktails are amazing--high quality ingredients and flair. And the desserts are always impressive. Staff is lovely. I especially loved the salmon guacamole, first though it was a weird combo but after having it with the sweet sauce and fresh raw salmon it was delicious. they waiters were sooo sweet the whole time so wonderful service. Groups of 5, beware of a 20% (large?) party fee! As always, La Roma is great when it comes to the food and environment. However, we were charged a 20% large party fee for our group of 5 that included a child who ordered a side of mashed potatoes as their meal. We were shocked to see that we had an additional 20% fee for our "large group" of 4 adults and one child. This fee is stated in their menu in tiny lettering at the bottom. When we addressed the owner with our concern, he stated that he worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and this is common. Maybe in Center City, but it is clear he is not knowledgeable of the Port Richmond area as I don't know of a single place that charges a typical booth of 5 people an additional fee. He also went on to say we don't have to tip if we don't want to do a 20% fee and a 20% tip. What kind of owner doesn't advocate for his employees and would want to not receive their well deserved tip?! Absolutely absurd, my "large party" will not be back and in fact we told him next time we will separate our group at 2 tables. read more

Found this cool neighborhood spot on a Sunday afternoon walk. Super friendly service from Frankie who recommended several great items. They don't have a huge wine list but had a few very drinkable selections. Their menus is so interesting that I can't wait to come back and sample more items. Pictured is the salmon guacamole which is fresh and fantastic, drizzled with the right amount or balsamic to give it a lovely not-too-sweet finish. Run, don't walk! This place is incredible. I've been here twice for brunch and I can't wait to be back for dinner. The food was incredible. The empanadas were not to be missed. My favorite dish for brunch was the chorizo and gravy biscuits. The use Mexican chorizo and the gravy is flavored perfectly- over high standard biscuits. We each got a drink- Im so impressed with the execution of these drinks. They stand up to some of the best cocktail places with bigger names backing them. The service is outstanding. Menu covers a good mix of offerings, with a nice variety of meat & veggies options for both appetizers and entrees. Their plating was INCREDIBLE, and the food tasted even better. This is easily a meal you can expect in center city. Port Richmond is lucky to have this in their neighborhood. While they stick to their Mexican roots, many dishes pay homage to the Port Richmond (Polish) neighborhood, like their pierogies with cilantro cream sauce or the arancini with kielbasa.
