Great spot! Whenever I have larger groups of people, this is my go to spot.. esp if they are visiting ABQ & want a New Mexican meal. It has a pay first & meals are delivered to you- approach.. so it makes it seamless for payment & not needing to split checks. Their website has a great function to review allergens to be aware of. It's a peanut free facility! For fellow vegetarians (& even vegans)there are many options. Meals are fair as well. Service is friendly and fast. Wonderful food AGAIN!!!!! Food was brought to table very quickly, my dad only wanted 1 taco, but I ordered 2 for him. He ate every bite. Staying at a nearby Airbnb on our way to Denver from Mesa, our host recommended this place. Fantastic recommendation. Skip the actual menus at the door and just look up at the display by the registers which has all of the menu info printed on it for guests. Plenty of great selections to order and all of them can have red or green chiles, or both, added to them. I had the enchiladas plate and my wife had a blue tortilla burrito plate The service is fast and friendly. Nice atmosphere too with plenty of pictures and crafts depicting what the area is known for. We chatted with a couple of the workers, and they suggested a breakfast burrito place just down the street for the next leg of our trip. It was slow when we got there in the evening but before we knew it the place was packed. We sure do love finding places like this recommended by locals. Now we are recommending it to family going through town in just a couple of months. We'll be back on our next adventure through Albuquerque too. read more

La Salita has been my go to place for the best Chile Relleno in town. Crispy, good red chile. I also love their enchiladas, especially with Swiss cheese. We have eaten here or have gotten takeout dozens of times. Our last visit was not great and so surprised I am writing a review. We visited last night, Saturday, around 5:30. Decided to eat in this time. Staff was nice as always. When our platters came out, the cheese was not melted and the rice was cold. Beans were hot. First bite of enchilada and we knew this wasn't cooked right. Still hard, not melted, and lukewarm inside too. Relleno was ok but the fact that these platters were not fully heated was disappointing. Finally, the sopapillas were so small and thin (see photo) that was the last straw. Even though most places in ABQ provide sopas complimentary, you pay at La Salita. I would expect them to be better. I really hope this visit was an anomaly since we have had so many good meals here. read more

I'm sorry to report that the food quality has slipped on our last few (3) visits. Service is still outstanding and friendly, and portions are still large (as they should be, given the pricing), but . . . well, on our most recent visit for instance, my wife's enchiladas were flat cold (mine were piping hot) and she felt the tortillas hadn't been fried before assembly. I suggested she speak up but we were there with guests and she didn't want to make a fuss. Well, it turned out neither of our guests thought much of their plates, either. As I said, my food was fine on this last visit - although I'm also noticing the plates I've been getting haven't been the same "I can't wait to return" eats that I had here when I posted my first (4-star) review. Comparing the recent visits here to the recent experiences I've had in similar New Mexican restaurants in Albuquerque and Santa Fe leave me with the realization that I haven't been too impressed with the cooking at La Salita lately. Anyhow, my experience has been that my recent visits to La Salita were such that I would no longer tell a friend, "Oh yeah, you HAVE to get in there." We'll keep La Salita in the rotation (at a reduced frequency, I'm afraid), and I'll write another review should things change. read more

This is THE BEST chili rellano I've ever had , options of cheese the the exterior crunch was so amazing. I don't live in Albuquerque but I have plans to travel through just to stop and eat here ... fyi when asked red or green , doesn't matter they will both blow an O ring the next day. read more

A friend and were really looking forward to a great lunch because we've had good experiences here in the past, but today was a big disappointment. We ordered two taco salads and two iced teas. The total came to $35.83 before tax, which already felt high for a casual counter-service meal. You order and pay up front, and I selected a 20% tip at checkout. Unfortunately, that ended up feeling undeserved. Aside from someone bringing our food to the table, there was essentially no service. When our meals arrived, the taco salads were surprisingly small--mostly lettuce with very little meat. I had to flag down an employee to ask about it, and while she eventually offered more meat, it was a very small portion in a tiny disposable container for us to share. I also mentioned that the portion didn't match the price, and was told it was because we added guacamole. What wasn't explained upfront is that guacamole is now an extra charge ($3.29 each for a small dollop), and sour cream was also an additional $1.89. In the past, those were included. That lack of transparency added to the frustration. The iced teas were $6.78 for two, and we initially thought refills would be provided. Only later did we notice a self-serve station, which wasn't pointed out to us. The same area also had to-go boxes, although we definitely didn't need them. Overall, this felt like a very expensive meal for what we received--small portions, unclear pricing, and minimal service. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but this experience left me feeling disappointed and unlikely to return unless things change. read more

Listen... I want to highly recommend La Salita's catering service. They hosted for us a H. S. Graduation luncheon in May. In house , not delivered. The space was private and exclusive and the food banquet table was beautiful and plentiful and fresh. Stephanie Eddings took especially good care of us and took care of every important detail. This experience was effortless for us and we enjoyed every bit of it. If you're in search of an affordable place with ambiance and quality food and over the top service... everything from the spread to packaging up what is left over and the clean up... then La Salita is the dining room for you. The food was great. Service is amazing you have like 3 or 4 servers assisting you, it's lovely. The food was hot and fresh. The wait want bag at all for the amount of people in attendance. Only down side is You have to place your order at the counter and then sit down_and wait for it to arrive, but it's not so bad once you taste the salsa and warm chips. read more

The people here are lovely and kind. I came for taco Tuesday a great deal for 5.75 they were decent but lacked flavor, the salsa and red and green chile weren't spicy at all. I don't know how I feel about this restaurant. I ordered the stuffed sopapilla plate with red, which cost $16. The size of that stuffed sopapilla was ridiculously small. I should have taken a picture of this puny little stuffed sopapilla. The portion of rice was bigger than this sopapilla. There were pieces of lettuce on the plate that was bigger than this stuffed Sopa. The sopapilla was so light and small that it was floating in the chili. It was done in 3 bites. I hadn't been here in a while but came last Thursday. The restaurant is set up differently now where you order at the front and then sit down for your food. I prefer the old way of ordering your food at the table. I believe Covid had to do with the new setup due to low staff. Anyway, this used to be my favorite restaurant in the heights. Been going to La Salita since the 90's, so was disappointed with the takeout on a Wednesday. The chile rellenos was burnt, totally inedible. They need to change their frying oil, rancid. The shredded beef burrito, the meat was old and dry and had large chunks of sinew mixed in, totally grossed out my wife. The huevos rancheros, the eggs were overcooked, the red chile was old and bitter, and the papas were under cooked. I don't know how this mess came out of the kitchen, where is management and quality control? After spending over $50 for three meals, won't be going back anytime soon! read more

I LOVE LA Salita! The Employees are always wonderful, and food is always good. A bit different than your normal eat in restaurant, and I love the way they do the order process. Their green chilli is bomb, and they give you it with chips instead of salsa. Their meat's are always so well seasoned and the burritos/stuffed sopa's never disappoint. They are on the small side, but super tasty. The relleno is unique as well. Reminds me of corn dog batter with a green chilli and whatever cheese you choose inside. Super bomb as well! There weren't many cars in the lot making us wonder if they were open. People exiting answered that question. As we entered there was a counter with large menu overhead. Order 1st, sit next, wait for food delivered by an employee. Decided on the combo#1: chili rellano, cheddar & onion enchilada and a taco plate. Both orders came with rice & beans. The chili rellano came out crispy fried - refreshing change from the batter that gets soggy quickly. The enchilada could have warmer. The taco were good, but the meat lacked seasoning. Ordered the Chile relleno with green Chile sauce and avocado. It was great! Crunchy, and yummy! Especially also liked the chips and queso. Disappointed in La Salita, this used to be a restaurant my wife and I enjoyed, but as of late, they have declined with their customer service. I order my food online and arrive at the time that my food I said to be ready (20 min from order). They tell me they lost my ticket and they are rushing to make it now. I wait an additional 25 minutes to get my food. They had my food ready but chose not to tell me even though I was sitting right in front of them. I had to get up and ask if the bag they had behind the counter was mine after it being there for 10 minutes. They chose to waste my time as a customer. This is the second time this has happened, and I feel disregarded, discriminated and disappointed. We will not return to this restaurant and will recommend better quality restaurants that train their staff well. La Salita should take down the award for "best wait staff" read more

I've seen this restaurant for 20+ years when driving on Eubank. My mom and I were out and about having a mother/daughter day and I commented I was craving huevos rancheros. She said let's stop here and have lunch. We stopped in for a late lunch and I was very amazed on how cute it is inside and how great the food and service! Monique was our server and did a fabulous job! This is now my new Albuquerque restaurant to go to for authentic New Mexican food. The kind of food I remember growing up with. There are a lot of restaurants in Albuquerque, but are Mexican food restaurants these days with very spicy foods my husband cannot eat. La Salita thanks for keeping it real and authentic!! I can see why you are so successful. They are expanding and moving to another location on the NE side. Please don't lose the coziness of your current location. It's very quaint & unique. Can't wait for my husband to try it out. La Salita salsa is the best I've ever had! Their chip are great and homemade too! You won't be disappointed when you come here for great food! Before I get into the quality of food, I first want to stay everyone at the restaurant was great. It was clean, staff was kind and efficient and food was ready in a manner of minutes. I thought the queso was good and the sopapilla was even better. As for the main dish I wasn't overly impressed. I got the enchilada with ground beef. It was a huge slab of ground beef in a stiff tortilla with cheese stuck to it. Typically when I get an enchilada the meat isn't all stuck together and the cheese melts off the top. The fact that the food was out so quickly and this was the quality has me wondering how long it was sitting there premade. I wasn't impressed by the main dish but everything else was good. read more
