Different day, different order... I ordered a hand held refried bean & chicharron burrito with green chili, two orders of two breakfast tacos, and a pint of green chili. A family of six, a postal worker and a security guard who had all ordered after me received their orders. I returned to the counter, wondering what the delay was as I watched the worker who had taken all of our orders joking with the manager who managed to put out two orders through the drive-through. I realize it's not fast food, but I did expect to get my food before the 10 to 12 other people . When I received my order, which I always check now, there was cheese on the burrito which I hadn't ordered but no green chili luckily, I had paid a hefty price for a pint of green. This place is a STAPLE and a total gem. It is always my go to place whenever I come into town. Carne Adovada plate or burrito or just buying the pint by itself is the best way to go. GET THE TORTILLAS, even if you get 2 they are large enough to share. This place was busy busy at like 11am, but people eat quick enough that after you order there's a table inside. Garcia's Restaurant chain is an Albuquerque tradition for good reason. Generous portions of mighty tasty food at reasonable prices make them a winner in my book. Staff has proven to be consistently friendly and accommodating. While I usually get fajitas or combo plates from the other Garcia's around town, on this first visit to the location on Indian School Rd just east of Wyoming Blvd I went the Indian Taco route, with a mid-size glass of horchata as hydration of choice. I chose whole (vs refried) beans and green (vs red) chile for the Indian Taco. It was all good and all too soon all gone. Overall this location is so convenient for my boyfriend and i ! that food is made quick, great price, and good portions. the people are always nice too. i i'm not typically a person to come on here and write bad reviews - im a server too, so i understand: but it's disappointing coming 15 minutes before they close to be told that they're "deep cleaning" , LOL when i know that's not true. i've come to this location 2 minutes before they close and still gotten food. what a bummer.. This was my first time in New Mexican restaurant. I am so satisfied I chose Garcia's Kitchen. We dropped by early in the morning for breakfast. They also have drive thrus. You order at the counter and the server brings the food at your table. The restaurant was almost quiet and not so noisy. The server greeted us and was very patient with our order. We were new to the place so she was very helpful suggesting us what to try. We ordered Breakfast burritos and Sopapilla with egg and bacon. Trust me the food was good. We were so curious about trying Sopapilla first time that the server got us plain Sopapilla to try for free. It was hot, fresh out of fryer. Tasted heavenly with honey. Garcia's is one place on my list that we must go to when I go home. My mom is in love with the bean and chicharrón burrito. If you just ask for the chicharrón burrito you will get just that, make sure you ask for beans. I had an Indian taco which was goodish. Everyone in general liked the food but I have to say that the red chili is not hot at all. Not even a little bit of spice so if that's what you like then order it. Personally, I like spice to my red chili but it was still ok. We were a big group and we were accommodated very well. The ambience was cute because it was right before a balloon fiesta so they had balloons everywhere. I would recommend that you go there especially if you have a low spice tolerance. Common guys your better then this. This place has always been good but the first time we use door dash since we can't leave our house at the moment it was really bad. I stop by Garcia's every time I come home (this visit 3 times) but more because it's convenient. I'm pretty sure the local chain started from the little place on 4th St. with the wonderful lady with big red hair and great burritos that I ate at back in the 70's. They've lost a bit over the years by catering to milder pallets but are still good. The carne abovada is a favorite but the papas and over blended frijoes are often left untouched. read more

The young gentleman at the counter is knowledgable and very courteous, so I left him a cash tip. Anyway, on with the food review, the food is fast, a little on the cold side, which made it easier to inhale(because it's so delicious), but I prefer to have the dish come out a little hot so that I can savor the flavor. I ordered the breakfast with bacon, opted for the dish option which included potatoes and beans, potatoes were not fried but still good. Overall it was enough to fill my stomach, I'm 6'1" 230 lbs. Dropped by around 4 pm on Wednesday and was glad to see they were busy with so many restaurants struggling to stay afloat during these troubled times. I got the carne adovada plate and it was fantastic. Their red chili is the best, imho. The sopapillas were also delicious. As I got there there was a large line at the drive thru so I decided to get down. The lady at the register was very nice and she informed me that they did not have any day old dozen tortillas for sale (which are a very good deal). I then asked her if it was possible to get a dozen fresh tortillas where she then proceeded to ask the lady making tortillas if that was possible. The lady making the tortillas was not as nice and responded in a rude tone saying "no there's no more tortillas". Service is always fast when you dine in but the 20+ minute wait in the drive thru never fails. even before I moved I had this issue. I've been here a few times in the past, but not for the last year or so. The food has gone downhill. Bland and uninspired. I had a green chile cheese burger and fries, the burger literally tasted like cooked hamburger. No salt, no pepper, nothing. The green chili had no flavor at all, which is incredibly hard to accomplish. Fries were ok. Girlfriend had the chile rellano plate (one her her fav dishes), but she said that it too was bland and had no seasoning. Didn't even finish half of our food and although I can't exactly prove it, I'm close to certain the place gave me food poisoning. Shame, we used to like the place. You order your food at the counter, just like McD's, and then sit down and they bring it to you...but that's the end of your experience with the staff. On top of that, even if you're dine-in you get plastic partitioned plates and plastic forks and spoons and paper or plastic cups. Ee-gad! So...if you're in a rush and just gotta have those Huevos Locos (as we all do) then this is passable.
