Stopped in after reviewing some of the posts here. The staff is super friendly, the food was average + to us. My husband is very hard to please, he had a ground beef burrito, he said he's had better. Ate here today. I had a handheld beef and potato burrito. It was really tasty with green chile, red salsa, and cheese. Wife had huevos rancheros with bacon which was good. Came for the Indian Taco, and it had lots of stuff on top. Would have liked more fry bread but honestly it was tasty and bringing the family back. This is my first visit to this restaurant. After going in and looking at the menu, I put in an order and they were extremely helpful and nice.. I asked about soap appears and the guy said well the owner sitting right over there so while I was waiting for my food, I talked a little bit to the owner. His name is Jim. His real name is Santiago, but he says people calling Gemma, James.. places, clean and friendly. Everything was made to order.. I ordered a combination plate with an enchilada and taco with green chili. I also got the Mexican burger and a tortilla without the guacamole.. I was going to go for the soap of burger, but I figured the tortilla was a little bit less than the carb side. I got a container of green chili stew, which was tasty but was very thick.. the combination plate also came with the fresh soap with honey and it was. The burger was hot and tasty. Actually, it was very flavorful. I'm not gonna lie and was a little on underdone side, but it didn't even matter. I ate every bit.. I do have to add the enchilada was chicken and cheese and the taco was supposed to be beef but they put chicken in it. (was on the cold side). The people are nice and the food is good. It's crazy to think that I've lived so close to Santiago's and only recently went for the first time. It's totally your typical New Mexican hole in the wall in the best way. You can tell it ran and just has a very casual atmosphere. They have all of the essentials including green chile cheeseburgers, and great breakfast burritos. The price for a green chile cheeseburger combo was about $16 which feels a little high but so does everything else these days. Tried this place after hearing about it on Albuquerque Foodies page. It is a small family run business with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The table of Mary Kay products for sale in the corner of the restaurant reminded me of my childhood years. I probably should have tried the Chile relleno or enchilada, but went with the Sopa burger because I'd never tried one before. My husband got the green Chile cheeseburger. Both of our burgers were flavorful, but the meat was dry and over cooked. If I try their burger again, I would ask them for med cook on the meat. The meat patty was thicker and larger than I expected, so that was a plus. The fries were perfectly cooked! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was a busy place with LOTS of regulars who knew them by name. I loved the atmosphere. I will probably be back again when I'm in the area to try their other items. read more

We drove a long way today to try a restaurant that has great reviews so we were excited about it. First off I think the service here is great with the exception of one thing, we ran out of chips not even halfway through our guacamole and we weren't brought or offered anymore. Our drinks were kept full though and that's a plus! I ordered the huevos rancheros con carne plus an extra beef patty with red chile. The red chile isn't hot but it has a good taste. The meat itself had a little aftertaste I didn't care for. Maybe the meat was old or something, maybe it wasn't seasoned enough. This plate would be great adding some beans to it. My daughter had a GCCB combo and she gave me a bite. It is a 6oz patty and it didn't have the same weird taste the hamburger patties did on my plate. Sounds weird I know but I'm being totally honest. I think the burger was good. The green chile didn't have any heat at all. She got a good portion of fries and they were ok. We love guacamole so we got a half order of chips and guacamole and there was a good amount of guacamole but very little chips. The chips were good too so I was hoping the waitress would bring or offer us more but she never did. l like the ambiance here, it has that grandmas house type of feel and the staff is very friendly. Found this little hidden gem because we wanted to try something new. Boy did it deliver! It is at the end of an unassuming strip mall, right next to U-Haul so if you're not looking, you'll drive right past like we have a hundred times. The menu is simple New Mexican food done well: enchiladas, tamales, burritos, burgers, etc as well as daily breakfast and lunch specials. The green chile is roasted daily by the owner and SO delicious. Everything is hand made to order but it's no slower than any other restaurant and arrives hot! While you order at the counter and the food is brought to you, the staff was very attentive and kind. The interior is clean but nothing special; I guess the effort goes into the service and food! Sadly, the road construction is cutting into their business because access is terrible but they are hanging in there. Since they've been around since the 80's, I suspect they make it through this hiccup. Do them a favor and give them your business. You won't regret it. read more

I've eaten here several times and this place is truly a hidden gem in a little strip mall on Eubank in Albuquerque. Their green chile cheese burger is the best. I find that it rivals the famous Luguna Burger and others in the state. I highly recommend getting the fries with the burger as they are fantastic. They should teach McDonald's how to cook fries. The service is phenomenal. My drink glass never got empty. The place was clean and tended to regularly. I've never found anything quite like it in Denver and the Santiago's chain up there is pretty good but not the same at all or related. When we visit family here, its mandatory to visit! This hole in the wall is absolutely delicious. It is not related to the one in Colorado but it is so good. This is a fast service restaurant and the service is absolutely great. What you will see is the sopapilla burger which is actually 2 sopapillas as buns and the carné adovada breakfast plate. Wow, what a disappointment. The staff at Santiago's exudes fake niceties and you can feel the judgement and glaring eyes and snickering when you walk in there. The first time I went, I felt something was off. I couldn't quite pinpoint it... Was it the decrepit, yellowing linoleum tile? The uncomfortable brown metal and vinyl chairs? After browsing through Yelp and looking for somewhere close to eat, I found Santiago's. The reviews looked pretty good and the pictures of the food looked tasty so we decided to give it a try. We looked over the menu and decided to get 2 burritos, the tamale special, and a breakfast plate. The food began to be prepared as we ordered it was a great speedy production. The food was ready so quickly and it was super fresh!! I'll be honest, the food here is really delicious! It is just like home cooking! The chile is delicious and spicy! Everyone really enjoyed their meals! I will definitely be back, I'm just disappointed it is so far from home!
