UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP! We hadn't been here in a bit and found out that one of the old line cooks bought the restaurant and is now the owner, I was pleasantly surprised that the food was not compromised by the change is staff. The inside looks exactly the same as well. We were a bit concerned that it wouldn't be as good but It was just as tasty and delicious as always and boy am I glad! 1st time going for take out. We didn't eat right away cause we eat later. Even though we warmed the food up for later it was delicious. My husband said this is the best in New Mexico. My husband Andi are always drawn to smaller restaurants when we are traveling. Tenampa had all off the earmarks to beat great choice and they didn't disappoint. My husband had the chili rellanos plate with green chili Andi ordered the carnitas plate. While I was waiting for our food the aroma of the home cooked food made me thinki should go all in and order breakfast burritos for the morning. The waitress helped me choose which burritos to choose from. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo to surprise my husband. I ordered another plate of carnitas with green chili plate again with no rice or beans - just salad (I'm on a low carb diet). BOTTOM LINE: GREAT STAFF & GREAT FOOD. I really didn't care for the beans...in their defense I don't really like beans and if I do eat 'em they need to be straight out the olla. Like super fresh. The rice was soft, fluffy and fresh...the green sauce added a nice flavor in combination with it. They serve you a sopapilla with your meal. First time trying one and it was bomb. Let me start with the food and chef was great! It was a Perfect display of NM style food. But I can't rate it 5 because the male staff taking our order obviously doesn't like tourist . I figured it was a local favorite which is why I yelped on where to eat when we were passing thru town, we wanted local food experience. When we arrived , even though it was COVID restrictions, which we understood and followed, the staff was not welcoming and he also mentioned "you must not be from a round here" That shouldn't matter! I Hope the owners read this and have some training for the front staff as they make the difference in your business. Hats off to the chef . Its sort of hard to see or not noticeable unless you know the neighborhood or Yelp a restaurant. I have been looking for a spot that serves breakfast burritos similar to the LA spots that I used to go to. Luckily, this place has one and you can customize your order. I am a Vegetarian so I ordered a large (12") breakfast burrito with hashbrowns and refried beans, with the red and green sauce on the side. My BF ordered a Cheese Quesadilla and a Grande Burrito but instead of beef, he replaced it with Chicken. Our order satisfied our hunger. We wouldve stayed in if they served any type of liquor but we ordered to-go. The place was empty at around 2pm which we liked cause our order came out within a few minutes. The lady was genuinely sweet and helped with our order. We will definitely come back to try more from the menu! read more

I don't even know where to begin on how perfect this food experience was. On a long trip passing through New Mexico and really needed some good new Mexican food. We ordered stuffed breakfast sopapilla with adovada and eggs it came with refried beans and a hash brown it was simply a perfect breakfast the meat was tender, the sauce authentic and delicious came super hot. Next where the sopapilla is piping hot deliciousness came with honey as expected they were perfectly fresh and so tasty. I got a vegetarian burrito but haven't really got to that yet cuz so stuffed from the previous two items A perfect stop just a mile off the freeway then you're back on Route 66 to link up to I-40 again I cannot recommend this place enough for those passing through and hoping for good NM food. read more

I've been here twice within the last couple of months. Both times, I have been charged well over the listed menu prices. Today I ordered a quart of queso. The price was listed as $16. Their green and red chile bowls were amazing, and the carne adovada with green sauce was full of flavor, not just the sauce but the meat as well. We come through ABQ about twice a year, and have fallen in love with the cuisine. We found one place in particular that we found ourselves returning to during every visit, but this trip we decided to try to find something a little closer to where we were staying. Tenampa had a high rating, and fit the distance bill, so we gave it a shot. Both Salsas had great, unique flavor, and the chips were fine. The Iced Tea was delicious, and we ordered Carnitas Tacos, and Chile Relleno. Everything was wonderful, including the refried beans on the side. The sopapillas had a great flavor, but they were brought out with the Entree, so they were cold by the time we ate them. I didn't mind much. But if you want your sopapillas hot, you might mention to them to serve them to you after your entree. We will most likely be back! read more
