    Bruschetta

First night we were in Venice and we thought this place looked nice. They had outside seating even in a very busy alleyway, but we ended up moving inside because the chairs/table outdoors were uncomfortable because we were squeezed in. Friendly, attentive service. Food was okay, nothing amazing but not terrible. We ordered the bruschetta to start, just ok, tomatoes didn't seem fresh. Husband had the squid ink spaghetti with calamari and he noted that it lacked flavor and was just mediocre. I had the pappardelle and was disappointed - pretty bland. Because it was located in such a busy area, it gets a lot of people stopping in - as you would say a tourist trap of sorts. My advice is to go to a spot that's out of the busy areas and away from all the foot traffic.

La Serenissima is located in a pretty busy alleyway and can be easy to walk past. My brother and I were looking for somewhere to eat and this had the highest ratings out of the places nearby so we stopped in for lunch. Something cool about their menu is that they note which dishes are typical Venetian fare, so if you're just visiting, this could be a cool way to try what Venetian cuisine instead of just Italian. We ordered a squid ink pasta and tortelloni stuffed with salmon - both of which were very good. Originally, we were worried that we hadn't ordered enough since the portions look visually quite small, but were pleasantly surprised to see that our bowls were enough. I enjoyed the tortelloni's tomato sauce, which had a strong acidic tomato flavor to it. The dough wrapping each tortelloni is dyed black with squid ink but tasted like regular dough, so the dish tasted mostly of salmon and tomato. Service was friendly here and the atmosphere is quite cute with artificial flowers hanging from the ceiling. We appreciated that the restaurant wasn't too crowded.

Perfect little side alley cafe in Venice. Set menu of 20euro. Cod cream, spaghetti with shrimp or squid ink, mussel soup or "sea bass", salad and cappuccino.

Decently priced for Venice. We had an early lunch of Quatro formaggio pizza, misto salad ( very fresh greens, cherry tomatoea, julliened carrots and corn kernerls) and Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. We liked that they didn't aggressively try to get you in the door, like most restaurant/cafes on the streets of Venice. Our server was kind and attentive. The place features air conditioning and free WiFi. It's very small and has a one person toliette. The table napkins are comically stiff and remind me of bakery bag paper. My husband didn't like the Kenny G-esque music playing as loud as it was. Overall this was a good middle of the day lunch place.

Lots and lots of restaurants to choose from in Venice but this unassuming restaurant is a true gem…read more It's easy to miss as it's tucked in a corner right by a bridge. Once inside they have a couple tables with small window views of any gondolas passing by. We started off with a plate of lightly fried sardines topped with pickled white onions. The fry on the fish was super light and those vinegar-y onions were the perfect pairing. We cleaned that plate. The lasagna was well balanced with the meat, sauce, cheese. The squid ink pasta was chewy/al dente with a subtle touch of seafood flavors giving the cuttlefish. It was very umami but nothing too overbearing. Delicious! It's a Family business that was been around for many years. Grazie to the friendly staff and chef!

The jovial mood with the waiters with big personalities is gone. The menu you can find online is no longer available so you get a very limited menu to choose from--nearly entirely seafood. So if you have anyone in your party that just wants pasta with a red meat sauce or a non seafood lasagne, not available. We were a party of 8. Two people ordered the scallop appetizers. Pretty presentation on shells. 3 tiny scallops in the shells. More like an amuse bouche. Totally disappointing. The linguine with clams as an entree had clams so small you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them. Couldn't taste the clams and annoying to try to eat something so tiny , and just try to eat the pasta with all those tiny shells. The baby shrimp on polenta was actually good. But again the shrimp were like tiny hatchlings tempura battered. Tasted okay except for those that were soggy from the polenta that was very soupy. I wanted the gnocchi with crab which was on the very limited menu but no longer available. The alternative was gnocchi with a sea bass sauce which I chose but didn't like at all. The gnocchi were good but the sauce wasn't at all for me. We had to continue to ask for side dishes for the bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. We will not return. Poor value for your money. Plus there is a cover charge and service included in your bill which was a surprise. Very sad to see our favorite Venetian restaurant decline so much.
