I never had a favorite sammich shop until I discovered Karkar's

I've never had a favorite sammich shop until I discovered Karkar's! when I used to eat meat, the Spicy Pig (pulled pork! bacon! pepper jack! jalapeños!) was my absolute favorite. since going vegetarian, their Veggie never misses. I've never had a dissatisfying sammich there; it's ALWAYS perfect, ALWAYS satisfying and I'm never hungry afterwards. family-owned and run, sweet folks ~ thanx for choosing Willits, Karkar!

Went to the area with my family and ordered food there. Good service, great food at amazing prices. The dolma is delicious and would certainly get again, and the cubano is delicious. Great vibes all around

Well worth the drive out of town. I am gluten free and don't generally like gluten free sandwiches but the people I was with wanted sandwiches. All three of us thought our sandwiches were top notch, excellent. Ingredients were fresh, sandwiches were well put together and very tasty. Indoor and outdoor seating. I most highly recommend this deli!

Wonderfully history of the owners journey to purchasing this deli!

Glad we went out of our way going through Willits to find this hidden GEM!! This is an amazing delicatessen and the owners a so friendly with an awesome menu. My husband had the "Italian " sandwich and I had the "Coast" which had Turkey, provolone, avocado cucumber, tomato and shredded lettuce with an amazing homemade dressing on it! We will definitely be back soon!

Spicy pig sandwich ftw. So glad I drove off the main strip to try this little spot for the first time. Will definitely go out of my way to come by the next time I pass through.

They do NOT have gluten free bread at this deli. It smelled delicious but she looked at me like I was from Mars when I asked about GF.

The diner itself is clean, neat, and well maintained, and right away we noticed how friendly the staff was. Our server, May, was a total sweetheart--very kind, accommodating, and attentive. She truly stood out and made us feel welcome. Honestly, she would be a great manager if she isn't already. Unfortunately, there were a few issues. The first thing we noticed was that there was no hot water in the bathroom, which isn't ideal--especially on a cold night and from a hygiene perspective. Ray ordered the ribeye steak and was pretty disappointed. While it was $28, it lacked flavor and didn't have a proper sear or crust--it was gray and just not enjoyable. I ordered the vintage burger on toasted sourdough, and that was actually very good. I enjoyed it and thought it was well done. I really like to give full stars when they're deserved, but this experience just didn't quite add up. Great service and a clean space, but the food inconsistency and no hot water made it hard to rate higher. Hopefully these are things that can be improved because the staff--especially May--was excellent.

The easiest access is: facing the front entrance, follow the sidewalk to the left to the corner of the building. Using this outside entrance saves walking down a couple long hallways if you went in the main entrance. See photo for hours currently posted on the entry door. We could have timed our arrival better if we'd known this. Food: Very tasty food, well prepared and presented. Very fair prices. Two complete meals are available to choose from for lunch and dinner, typically one with meat and one vegetarian/vegan--appx $8. We had today's vegan choice which included stuffed zucchini blossoms (really, and wonderful!), rice pilaf, and a great tossed green salad. A sheet was available listing the choices to be served each meal for the month. Evidently, a salad bar is normally available as an option, but it was not set up when we arrived right at the start of the dinner hours. It would be nice if the monthly menu sheet were somehow on line so those of us not normally in the hospital could check what is offered any specific day or meal (in case what is offered does not appeal to us!).

This is one of the ten or so neighborhood Mexican restaurants in Willits. It bills itself as a…read more"Mexican American" restaurant, rather than a Mexican restaurant and this is true. There are some traditional items, but a lot of "tweener" food sitting between Mexican and American, while not, however, living in the space of the old fashions Mexican places of my youth that specialized in Americanized Mexican food. I have been here a lot, with mixed reviews. Today was not the best day, although some things were very good. Starting off, the chips were stale, which was sad because I remember them being pretty good. I have always found the salsas weird. There is a green salsa, that tastes herby and not at all like chile verde, there is a red salsa that is super mild, and an orange salsa that has a nice kick, and then there is some bean dip, which is never wrong. Our favorite thing is the shrimp in cream sauce and it is really good. Big shrimp and bathed in a delicious creamy sauce with mushrooms. I don't remember seeing this in a Mexican restaurant before but it works! The carnitas had good flavor but were tough and dry. I have had them here before when they were MUCH better, so I was disappointed. The worst was the chile relleno. Good chile rellenos use a Chile Poblano, stuffed with something (usually a white melty cheese, but could be piccadillo, or even a fish mixture (that's how my Sinaloan Grandmother made them sometimes). Then it is covered with a puffy egg mixture where the egg whites are supposed to be whipped up light, then the yolks with maybe a little flour blended in, the chile carefully covered with this then fried up in a pan. El Chicano's had no fluffy egg batter, the chile was right, but then it was covered in cheddar cheese that was cooked hard and covered with red sauce. I didn't care for it at all. The chile with the cheddar cheese was just a weird flavor and I missed the fluffy exterior of a traditional chile relleno. Service was ok. When we went to pay however, we found that they just ran the bill and didn't ask for a signature or a tip. Under the glass on the table is a handwritten note that said that tips had to be cash. So what a surprise! Luckily I had some cash on me so I could tip our server, but this is a terrible idea and I bet a lot of these waiters don't get tipped properly.
