For being a local spot, surprised we've never been! Saw this on yelp and decided the photos did it justice. Came here at 7pm for dinner. Seemed like a bunch of locals just coming here to eat and hang out. We ended up going with 2 fish tacos and a chicken quesadilla. The fish tacos were good, I wouldn't say the best I've ever had, but I have high expectations with fish tacos. They were crunchy, the batter was good and the cabbage/lettuce/sauce was a good ratio. We also order a chicken quesadilla was actually huge, came with sour creme, pico de gallo, and fresh guac. Crunchy outside and soft inside. Next time I'd want to try a fish quesadilla! Great food with great selection of beers! The space is somewhat on the smaller side but the service is great. The owner walks around and is very tentative to making sure his guest have everything they want. I ordered the tostada mixta. Its more like 3 tostadas in one, mixed with shrimp and crab and scallops. I had the garlic shrimp taco. The shrimp was great, but the tortilla fell apart. They should use two tortillas. The music videos playing were SO loud we couldn't talk to each other. Even the employees couldn't hear us. As we were leaving the mariachi band was arriving. Mariachi bands aren't our thing, but I am sure they weren't as loud as the videos. Food came out fast, but we had to wait quite a while for the check. We lucked out and got a parking spot near the restaurant. I see why others complain about the parking. So happy we found this place! It's not too far from where we live so convenience is a plus. Food was seriously amazing and service was great. Pretty hard to find good marisco places so if you're in search of one look no further. Best of all they have more than just mariscos they have burgers, tacos, and a breakfast menu as well. We look forward to going back to try new things on the menu. My favorite was the green aguachile it was so flavorful absolutely delicious. The fried fish, I forgot what it was called, but it was an appetizer was good too the chipotle sauce it came with went with it perfectly. Thanks for putting our quality food for us to enjoy. So we went to this restaurant about a month ago. What I noticed the floor was dirty and I noticed the menu didn't feel clean, I also saw cob webs as well. The food was delicious but what made it a negative aspect when I checked my bank account I was charged an extra fee idk what's going on with in thier restaurant but it's not okay to charge extra money on to someone's bank account. That is very unethical, I understand that staff was very low that day and it's a lot for two people to run a restaurant. But it's not okay to take money from people even it's a couple of dollars. I've been to there other location great food and service. Tried the Spring Valley location, very disappointed. Maybe a total of 20 people, my wife and I ordered drinks and food. Drinks pretty quick, location again not busy. Noticed a couple leave they cleaned the table sat a new couple they received there food and finished still had not gotten our food. Omg! I unexpectedly came across this place but, never bother to stop in, until recently!!!! Now, I just can't get away! This place literally reminds me of Mexico! The vibe, the atmosphere, the decor but most importantly the food!!! The seafood dishes I have tried were dish filled with a huge chunk of meat and the portions are massive!!!! The quality and prices are reasonable! But, be careful, because this is not the typical Mexican restaurant! Due to the huge portions, I do recommend ordering family style, ask for plates and share amongst friends if you are going with a large group. Parking is a bit tough. They only have 3 front parking and the rest are street parkings. They do split checks and have reservations. There are indoor seatings which is a bit crowded and a good size outdoor patio. I highly recommend this place if you want authentic Mexican food with amazing flavors and spice!!!! read more

First time at this restaurant and unfortunately will be the last time eating here. The service was poor and floors had food/trash all over. The menus were dirty and it look like they haven't cleaned them for awhile. The worst experience from this place was that the server modify our tip and we were charged more than what we wrote on our bill. Fish tacos: stuffed with Cabbage/lettuce thinly chopped so it was crispy, and fish tacos was fresh and stayed crispy! Not overly flavored so you actually taste the taco, but may not be flavorful enough for some. There's always hot sauce and salsa, but I enjoyed it as is. Shrimp tostadas: I had over 12-13 medium sized shrimps which I thought was generous. A little sour, but still spicy goodness. Probably will stick with tacos next time. Meal Came out to $8+... Sad to find out their $1 fish tacos are MONDAY and happy hour for small meat $1 tacos (chicken, pork, or beef) are everyday until 7pm. Fish and seafood apparently too expensive for this deal! Been going to this Spring Valley location for the last couple of months. The Menudo is the same as the Chula Vista place...fantastic! We've been taking advantage of their wonderful Taco Tuesday specials, every taco is delicious. Of course, we can't resist ordering other items on their menu too. So far, no disappointments and their service is courteous & professional as it should be. Their serving sizes are large and reasonably priced. The only disappointment is their parking, not too much so you might end up parking on the side street. read more

We've come here often because it's close to home and the food is good. But sad to say I'm done with this place. I won't be returning. The service sucks. There is always something wrong with our order and there is often a discrepancy with the bill. So double check your bill and order! Today I called in an order that should of been around $26 (according to their website). When we picked up it was $32. This place doesn't look appealing from the outside, but don't let this fool you!!! This restaurant is a hidden gem. The service is great, so courteous, polite and attentive. The warm tortilla chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. We ordered the octopus tostada with ketchup which was huge and tasty! The battered fish tacos were amazing, the gobernador taco was really really good. The tacos are hot, fresh and really filling, they do not skimp on anything, they fill those tacos up. Definitely my new favorite fish tacos spot. Just a side note.. Beware the house salsa in the bottle, it is really spicy but really good.. Don't over do it. :) read more

I came in last night for dinner and the food was ok but I left my debit so I came over today to get it and apparently you can't get your debit card back unless you buy something so she can open the register. I learned this after 20 minutes of standing at the the counter in my lunch break being told one moment please as she puts on phone orders and i learn this from another employee who told me the reason she was stalling. Just let me know 20 minutes ago I had to buy a soda for 3.50 to get my property back. Horrible service. read more

So disappointed in the way this place treated me today.. I have been coming here for a long time. Every Sunday and today I ordered to go. I had a concern of the portion they gave me so we asked the owner and he wasn't certain so he asked the staff. They didn't give me a response so I called over a server to explain. I'm sitting waiting this whole time for food. Getting dirty looks like I did something wrong. After 45 minutes of waiting I asked another server and she went to look then grabbed the bags. The sea food was sitting there and not given to me. Mind you it's 85deggrees out. And I ordered raw food. This guy couldn't even hand me my food!! When I asked why, they called the server back and he didn't come out. I've referred many people and today I felt like that was a mistake. All because I don't want to pay 18 dollars for a meal and not get the same food/treatment like when I eat there and tip 20% or more when I'm dining there. To conclude: Not only did you have horrible customer service but food was warm. I knew that would be the case. Great way to really keep me from going back. Cause someone to get ill from warm sea food over a question from a paying customer not ok. I won't take that risk anymore. read more

This is a nice little hole in the wall that gives generous portions at a reasonable price; however I have many mixed emotions about this place. Pros: + Generous portions + Decent prices Cons: - Dipping salsa tasted like Pace salsa. Gross. - The outdoor area Tapatio sauce bottle tips... Are not routinely cleaned and are openly exposed to the enviornment resulting in excessive crust gathering rendering them unuseable. - Their carne asada is of low quality. - Tortillas were not cooked and buttered. - Waitresses do meal prep, take out the trash along with serving and cashier. - A worker was spraying a can of RAID under the welcome mat near the outdoor tables. - Near stale store bought tortilla chips. Despite the high reviews i would not recommend this place to someone to have an adequate dining experience. This is more of a taco and beer place on happy hour than a 5 star resturant. A tolerable 3 star, for the generous portions and decent prices. But i have to make this a 2 star due to the quality of the salsa, tortillas and meat along with the strange management of the waitress staff. read more

Hands down this is the best Mexican and mariscos place I have found in San Diego. It is in a unique location but I will be coming back. They have the best crane asada fries I have ever tried in my life they use perfectly salted steak fries topped with freshly cut pico de gallo. They also had the biggest bowl of 7 mares soup. They gave us complimentary chip, salsa, and consume soup. The customer service was on point too! Will be bringing my family here from now on. They have good portions and great flavor, but I have to say because they're understaffed with their waitresses the service is a bit slow other than that I would have give it a five star. Another day I went in for lunch same thing portions were very generous and a great flavors with the different items my family picked.
