Recently visited this restaurant newly opened in Pinecrest. Wonderful service and great dishes. The paellas are delicious and so are the tapas. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I had been to this restaurant before a few years back and the food was pretty good back then what happened? Seafood Paella for 4 was burnt and tasteless. The seafood was dry and smothered with what looked like burnt paprika and was simply disgusting. Everything else was sub par to bad especially the poor karaoke juke box singer whose effected vocal and absolute poor quality NOT LIVE presentation should've clued us to LEAVE! I've eaten Spanish food in Seville, Madrid , Barcelona, New York, and Miami. I know it well. This was not only the worst Spanish restaurant I've ever been to. It's quite literally the worst restaurant ever the only reason we came in was to remember my mom who brought me here several years back when it was obviously better. Never again. After I complained, the restaurant offered a reduction and I gladly paid to get out of there as quickly as possible. read more

On the evening of our visit my wife and I were looking at a light meal and decided on tapas. We Googled and came upon this restaurant close to our home. We showed up at around 7:30 pm on a Friday. Upon meeting the hostess we were asked if we had reservations which we did not. At that time there were three tables occupied by diners and the rest were unoccupied. The hostess sat us on a table in front of the bar and told us that if we stayed past 9 pm there would be a $10 cover charge for the flamenco show, we didn't know they had one. We assured the hostess that we would be done before the show started. Our assigned waiter was very attentive. We ordered a few tapas and a sangria pitcher, overall we had a pleasant meal and service. At around 8:30 pm patrons began to arrive and the place got busy quickly. We left at around 8:45 pm as we had no interest in the show. read more

Food is not bad, ambience is nice, just be ware of prices. The special of the day that we ordered was more expensive on the board than on the menu. They also had a " mix mediterranean salad with ham and cheese" for 12.95 and the waiter brought me back a salad almost the same as the side order of my husband, when I asked him about the ham and cheese he told me or you asked for the mix salad so I was supposed to say the entire name? Maybe; however there was no other salad ion the menu and the cost was 10.00 ( very expensive for the variety and the amount ) and the one he was supposed to bring me with the ham and cheese was $12.95. You might end up with a few more dollars by cheating but you lost a customer. read more

The shopping center is not the best looking in town, but what an amazing experience I had inside the restaurant. The food was super yummy, the service was honestly 5 and plus. Well first thing first I wish I could give this Resturant a 0 star very unprofessional and money grabber, let's start for starters they call the ham ibérico ham which ibérico ham is a different kind of ham less salty and more creamy based on my experience in other restaurants that are actually Spanish also the chef in this Resturant absolutely doesn't know anything about Spanish cuisine lmao. This Resturant charge you more for a jamón serrano which that is what their false advertisement is calling jamón ibérico a jamón serrano your not paying for ibérico don't get it confused it's Serrano. If your from Spain you would know. Also the waiters are rude. OH AND ON TOP OF THAT they have Cuban music playing in a Spanish Resturant like wtf if it's a Resturant from Spain why do you put music from another country.... I'll start with the positive: the food was good, we'll decorated, our waiter was attentive. The cons: You don't feel welcomed when you walk in. Since the show starts later at 8 the restaurant was empty and we were the first customers yet there was someone practically barring the door and asking if we had a reservation, no greeting either. Thankfully someone behind heard that person and let us sit at a small table which we were grateful for. The next few customers showed up about 40 minutes after us and same question "do you have a reservation". About 3 couples were turned away in an hour when a family with a "reservation" finally showed up. No hours of operation on the door so we had no clue when they opened although they advertise a lunch menu and it was well after 6pm. The food was ok but not really for that price. As an example they offered to add lobster to the pricey paella for $20 more per person. Would have made it a $60 dish, no thanks. They add tip automatically eventhough we were only 3 and show is $10 additional per person. Our waiter was great but the other staff kept making us feel unwelcomed and rushed off even if they had empty tables by the time the show started and we were there almost 1 hour before the first reservation showed up. If they fixed the customer service it may be worth the expensive bill at the end of the night. read more

What a great night! On a whim, a group of women got together to celebrate my aunt's birthday. My mother had heard this place advertised on Spanish radio. Honestly, I was skeptical at first. The place is located in a strip shopping center in Hialeah. The friendly staff greeted us at the door, and immediately showed us to our table. We ordered wine, beer and a variety of tapas. The chorizo cooked in wine and the gambas al ajillo were amazing. Soon after, we were treated to flamenco dancers, who were spectacular, alternated by a gentleman singing live Spanish music from various countries and eras. The $8 cover charge was well worth it! Later, we ordered paella marinara, which is made to order, and takes about 45 minutes. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive, the food was great and the ambience and music were fabulous. This is a Restaurant in a strip shop. There was a lady singing old songs in a console piano and it was very loud. I don't know if is just me but I don't enjoy singing while I'm eating. The best thing we had was the bread. The paella was dry and tasteless, it only had four shrimps and the rest were calamari rings that were gummy and very chewy. The bacalao croquettes were commercially and you couldn't tell the flavor but definitely didn't taste like bacalao. My cousins and I took their parents for their anniversary as they wanted to see a flamenco show. The flamenco show was great and very lively. The food and sangria was also very good. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because service was really slow even though we were a big group with reservations that was gonna spend a decent amount of money. We were pleasantly surprised. Taberna is a place of high quality at a fair price. This is an established business that serves patrons value. My wife and I ate lunch and were amazed at the taste and service. We were impressed with the unique flavor of the Iberian peninsula without any Latin-American influence whatsoever. My sister suggested this place for my mothers bday and said it was really good food well made and fresh. She was spot on. Great food and more importantly never imagined my mother would enjoy the live flamenco as much as she did. The flamenco entertainment was awesome. Extremely passionate about their art and music. Well, we decided out of the blue to visit this Spanish restaurant today. We only live about 10 minutes away and have never given it a try. It's a small cozy place in a shopping center. This place is a true gem located in a small strip mall in Hialeah. The decor while not modern is traditional and will certainly do the job of transporting customers to Spain. I visit this country about 6 times per year and this is the typical decor found at tapas restaurants everywhere, love it! Well balanced with fruits, tasty, rich and not too strong. As appetizer we ordered the cod croquettes. These croquettes are outstanding, the best ever!!!! They were so soft, warm, tasty and had a very special/unique flavor. We also ordered the tabla iberica and caldo gallego (traditional spaniard soup). The tabla iberica is a typical assorted dish with proscuito ham, chorizo and cheese. The dish was fresh and very tasty. The caldo gallego was rich with favors as well and was served with garlic bread. I will return no doubt, a jewel literally hiding in Hialeah. read more

Pretty typical Spanish tapas. If you aren't in the mood for Cuban in Hialeah than I would definitely recommend this place. They serve bottled water instead of tap for no charge. I don't know what that's about but I'm sure not complaining - thank you!!! The service was prompt and attentive during a lunch hour. The food also came out relatively fast for tapas which helped because I was on a lunch break. We ordered the shrimp, cheese croquettes, relleno croquettes and calamari. Everything was pretty delicious and came with fresh bread and spread. The calamari was fried and seemed like it was thrown in a deep fryer from a package. I would order grilled the next time. Next, the wine selection is plentiful and the food is very authentic!
