The traditional Spanish wooden tables and chairs is the setting for a delicious meal. They have a variety of Spanish offerings. The paella marinera was amazing they did not skimp on the seafood. Let's start by how exited I was to hear that along time staple in our city now was offering live entertainment in the form of singing & dancing flamenco. Wish we could divide this into 2 reviews. One for its service one for its food. So I'm going to try. 1) Service 2.5 stars. Slow. We were quickly taken to our table & sat. Then we waited & waited & waited. Actually the only thing that came quickly was a gentleman with an open already plastic water bottle Natural Spring Water which we DID NOT REQUEST OR ASKED if we wanted which was just as quickly poured into our glasses. We looked around the other tables & noticed every single table had the same bottle so we thought in error that it was a house thing. Later to be charged $5.00! For the un requested bottle. Shame on you! I have never been poured a bottle water which first was already opened & poured without our consent. If you are going to charge consumer then inform consumer. We felt this was done on purpose. & feel it is very disrespectful. We then continued to wait (after about 10 minutes) another 5 minutes to have someone come & ask if we had ordered. So the gentlemen who was rushed to serve water was the gentleman who received us at entrance. Not a waiter. Guess only bottle water guy. There is a $5 cover charge per patron which we were aware of for show & it is fine & usual. 2) Food 3 stars. Bread was really good & nice portion. We were offered a second serving which was nice. Our appetizers were good too. Croquettes de bacalado (cod) were creamy inside & nice crunchy outside however not much cod flavor. They were ok. The pulpo a la gallega this was delicious thin sliced octopus in a tasty garlic oil nice portion 3 of us & each got plenty. Hubby mixed grilled seafood platter was good. Mom loved her sopon marinero (seafood soup) was flavorful & plenty of seafood. My grilled snapper thou was ok but it did not seem to me it was snapper. Seemed more like corvina. Which was ok cause I like that as well. Just thought if u ask for snapper u should get snapper. But what was also disappointing was that when dessert came around my hubby always feels that at a Spaniard restaurant you must have one of their signature desserts. Creama Catalana (custard with a sugary toasted crust). & when we asked for it we were informed they ran out. Ok it's sat nite before 9pm & what is considered a very popular dessert in this type of eatery had run out??? Not enough was made? Ok. So we decided to go to another place for dessert. Overall it was an ok experience. On our way out I did address my concern ref the $5 unsolicited bottle water to a very polite lady whom identified herself as mom of owner. She seemed truly sorry this had happened as per her words "again" & further stated she has advised her son of this cause it seems we have not been the first to address this issue. However we were not offered our $5 back. No worries simply we will consider other venues for our family dinners. It's a shame as I stated at start so close to home & so looking forward to having a cool place to come to without hassle of traffic. Oh well. read more

This was my first time here but I was really excited to try the food. It was a Friday night around 730 and it was bustling. We were a party of 5. They asked if we had reservations(!). In a strip mall , no less! So with some hesitation, we were seated. We waited about 25 minutes before we were given water. It was from a bottle ($5)and we did not have the choice to have bottle vs. Hialeah 's finest, tap. We waited another 20 min to give out order and be served a small plate of bread. The flamenco dancers began the show and it was amazing. There is a $5 charge per person that is not mentioned at all! So , now we are charged twice with unmentionable items. So be aware! We started with a small plate of meats and cheese which was nice. They have tapas so I ordered the garlic shrimp which was good. The meals seem pricey, though. The caldo Gallegos was really Delish! My husband had the steak in a mushroom sauce.he said the steak was fibrous and not a filet mignon but the sauce was amazing . My friend had the whole fried snapper. It was good. We shared a pitcher of sangria that was also really good. The service is slow and not par. The food is good, the dancers were great, the singer, not so much. The owner needs to be more transparent with the hidden charges and needs more staff for service! read more

After discovering La Taberna de Ignacio through Check Please South Florida, we often wonder "Why didn't we go sooner?" The restaurant has been serving authentic Spanish food since 1998. Every dish we've tried has been outstanding, bursting with the true flavors of Spain. Foodies will delight in the hearty chickpea stews, comfort bean soups, hot and cold tapas, tender octopus Galician style, aromatic seafood paellas, lamb shanks au juice, cod fish with roasted red pepper-tomato sauce, sardines in a lemon- saffron sauce and a crusty freshly baked baguette. Had the best Torta de Santiago (almond tart) ever! Portions are generous. The traditional Spanish dishes are perfectly paired with excellent Spanish wines that are reasonable priced. On Fridays and Saturdays they have a Flamenco Show. Went tonight, Saturday night, and the place was packed. They have live shows on Friday and Saturday nights, and people seem to really take advantage. The first show which we got to see towards the end was a Spanish singer and flamenco show and the second one a Cuban singer. The main reason we went was for the food as we didn't even know about the live shows. We had croquetas de jamón and bacalao, both were great, and highly recommended. The poquitos stuffed with bacalao were great as well as was the pulpo a la gallega. As a main course the rib eye did not disappoint, enough to be shared after the tapas unless you're really hungry and can eat it on your own, go ahead and do it. The crema catalana for dessert was also good. Owners have great service, they've been doing this for over twenty years so someone is definitely working right. This place only gets 1 star rating the food is extremely overpriced, you get charged for bottles of water not ordered and worst the waiter chases you out to the parking lot requesting a bigger tip stating that they don't get paid anything else but the tip. By law in the state of FL waiters are to be paid $5.00 an hour this owner is in violation of labor law. This person is greedy and passes all operational cost upon the customer. I grade every Spaniard restaurant by its paella and it was really just okay. I called in the order for pick-up; 3 orders of Paella and an order of grilled octopus (one one my favorite dishes in any country style). This is my dad's request for dinner on his birthday every year and the place I use to get it changed owners and quality. Sooooooo I decided to try La Taberna de Ignacio due to its high reviews. When I walked in they had a singer on a small stage in the far right corner of the restaurant and I believe a flamenco dancer which was taking a break at the bar; very nice. The decor was also on point for a Spanish restaurant and seemed out of place, in a good way, in this old Hialeah shopping center. An older lady that charged me was on her phone and charged me for a large bill of one of the tables. She hung up and called the manager after some time to credit and correctly bill me, which took a while! I took the paella to my dad, it had a good variety of fish, no chicken, or pieces of lobster which is usually in a traditional paella. The paella was dry and the octopus was okay. I'm not sure why this place has four stars, I would not go to this restaurant again and would not recommend it to anyone, other than to get a glass of wine and for the entertainment, not the food. Love it when great restaurants pop up in Hialeah, but this is not one of them. Dang this review is harsh, but it really wasn't any good. read more

Horrible experience, I decided to make a yelp account just to review this restaurant. Let me start by saying that I did not know the wait for my food would be over 1 hour and 20 minutes, after that it went from being charged 5$ for a bottle watered which I had no Idea I was being charged for water. Water should always be free in my personal opinion at a restaurant, but is fine I did not complain about it. What really got me angry was the fact that they charged me two extra plates I did not order and if I had not reviewed the receipt I would of walked out after being scammed. After I told them they started giving me an attitude while apologizing, at the very end of the discussion not only did they have the face to tell me that I was obligated to leave tip over 15% (30$) when nowhere did it say they had mandatory tip. Which by the way they did not have mandatory tip. Another thing was that they charge me for watching the entertainment show 20$ without know I was being charged for it. But I did not mind since I did like the show and even tipped one of the signers 20$. In conclusion the restaurant is a scam and has horrible service, as well as slow. El día de ayer 15 de Febrero de 2020 fuimos por primera vez a celebrar con un grupo de amigas el cumpleaños de una de ellas y hicimos reservación en este restaurante Español. La Mesa que nos correspondía según la reserva era la #19 y nos dieron la #13 la cual estaba muy al fondo del Local, pero no nos quisieron cambiar de mesa. Pedimos comida y cuando está llegó (PAELLA) pedimos 2 para compartirla entre 4 personas y en vez de 2 nos sirvieron 4 en el menú no estaba claro y al llegar la cuenta nos cobraron 4 en vez de 2 que queríamos compartir. Cuando se lo mencionamos al mesero de nombre Sebastián, nos explico detalles que nos pudo haber explicado antes de pedir nuestra orden y no después no acepto nuestro reclamo y la cuenta fue exageradamente cara. La comida no fue la gran cosa, nada sabia bien a todo le Faltaba sazón excepto lo info bueno fue el vino TAMARON y los garbanzos fritos, de ahí el resto no era ni parecido a una buena comida de restaurante. Las Paellas dejaban mucho que desear, el Salmon no tenía ningún buen gusto y los vegetales menos. El Show de flamenco muy lindo y entretenido pero nos daba mucha lata verlo pues nos sentaron en la mesa del fondo de todas y eso que fuimos las primeras en llegar al restaurante. Nos pudieron haber dado una mejor mesa. Para nuestra sorpresa no nos dijeron que cobraban $8.00 por persona por lo de Show de flamenco otra mentira que descubrimos por sorpresa cuando nos llegó la cuenta, pues nunca nos informaron que teníamos que pagar por eso también. Nuestro total fue de casi $500.00 lo menos que pueden hacer cuando uno consume tanto excluir el show. No es lo que cueste sino el principio. El mesero no nos dio mucha atención cuando reclamamos lo del precio exhorbitante total de nuestra cuenta. Nos dijo que habríamos que ver la letra roja del menú lo cual no nos aclaró al comienzo sino hasta que nos trajo la cuenta nos discutía que no estábamos en lo correcto y hasta le hablo de mala manera irrespetuosamente a una de mis amigas. Tengan muchísimo cuidado con este lugar porque las indicaciones de ciertos platillos no están muy claras y es así que se aprovechan de la clientela. Esta fue. Uretra primera experiencia y nuestra última con este restaurante "La Taberna de Ignacio" no lo recomiendo a nadie. Que pena es querer conocer un lugar nuevo y que te den una muy mala hospitalidad como la que pasamos anoche en este lugar. Recomiendo a la gerencia de este lugar que revisen su Menú y los detalles y hagan uso de revisión y lo hagan más claro y transparente como otros sitios que bajo ciertos platillos escriben no por ejemplo; "UNO POR PERSONA" o "PLATILLO PARA COMPARTIR PARA 2 PERSONAS" estoy más que segura que no solo a nosotras nos han pasado este mismo tipo de problemas por no tener claridad en su Menú, y después a la hora de ordenar hay mucha confusión y a la hora de pedir la cuenta aún más enredo con loan precios alterados de los platillos. read more

The sangria, can I say very good!! Forget the price and the food is very good!! We came early and it was empty but by the time we left it was full, they take reservations(great), we actually had no complaints, the cheap people that complain about water need to go back to McDonald's, no one will give you bottled water for free and if they do, you need to stay within your means. The paella took 55 mins but it provides plenty of time to actually have a conversation. The live music is a bit annoying but that's a personal preference. Only 4 stars? Well sorry nobody gets a 5 in my book, but the little things that brought it down are my personal crazy preferences. Come back? Yes we would. Very disorganized. An hour and a half to sit us down. In a table. Appetizers came after 30 mins. Drink order after 45. Concept is good, but very poorly managed. Food is bland. Wife and I went there this Saturday for the first time with the intention of evaluating it as a potential New Year party spot. Not looking for a complete meal but wanting to taste the appetizers to get a feel. For their authenticity, we had the ones that are the more traditional in Spain. Spent 95.00 in appetizers and a large jar of Sangria. From the moment we walked in we clashed, i was asked if we had a reservation, being 7pm on a Sunday night I said to myself ok, then we were sat on a table for two next to the kitchen entry, every waiter that passed by balanced a large food tray directly over my head, prior to accepting the table we asked the gentleman if we could have the table for two immediatly across the from it slight more recessed, he said no because that one could be converted in a table for four if they had to. Anyways we sat down and when I waiter came we asked if we could move to the other table and he mumble a few seconds and he basically said he was not in charge and couldn't do anything, anyways we order our first appetizers and a jug of Sangria. While being served they placed two additional chairs to the table across to end any further discussion. As we started to eat they brought out the Sangria and they poured us two small wine glasses full of ice and then the Sangria came out, as we started to eat I told my wife that the water bottle trick was a rip off and so wa the Jar of Sangria, as we ate the first two plates of appetizers the ice inside the jug melted and yielded more Sangria, at the end of the day we managed barely four glasses but considering that our wine glasses were full of ice the actuall net amount of wine from that jug was two glasses at best for $18.95 and that was the large size. That is criminal. The rest of the appetizers were excellent. Where I really lost it is in the middle of dinner the table across from became a table for two and given to a couple of regulars without reservations thats when I lost it, further more when my bill came back to me with credit card it belong to some else don't know who had my Bill and card. Overall the food we ate was good, the serving system is shared by all and some waiters work on the premises that they supper hip and becomes annoying. The inside singer entertainer is enjoyable but the music extremely loud not suited for a restaurant setting, very annoying having to scream at someone sitting across the table to have a conversation. I did leave a 20% tip, but chances are I will never return, much better restaurant Casa Juancho, a little more inexpensive but everthing you eat guaranty to be from Spain. read more

Service was great and very friendly staff. We had a great time and felt welcomed and part of the family right away! Tapas were delicious as well, however, paella was not as good. It did not taste near a true seafood paella. Singer and flamenco dancer were OK but may be too loud for us to enjoy our talking without screaming at each other. I WILL NOT GO BACK. Ok lets see, the croquetas are from a box like the ones you buy at Publix. The spanish omelet was old and over cooked. The mix plate ( cheese, ham and chorizo ) was made at least a couple of hours before we ordered and put in the freezer, the cheese was hard, the ham was cold and the chorizo was dry from being in the freezer so long. Love tapas and wine I've been to a lot of places in Miami but none as bad as this one.
