The place was empty when I came in. There was a guy at the counter carrying on a conversation with a woman. He ended up being my waiter. He took my order but did not listen to what I wanted. For my tea, I asked for limes and he brought lemons in which I noticed he put in my drink with his bare hands. The chips and salsa he brought out were horrible- chops tasted old and stale and salsa didn't taste like authentic salsa- it had an expired taste and color was off. I asked for queso and it took him a while to bring it. It was actually nacho cheese sauce and it wasn't hot. I asked him to heated up, it took him a minute and he brought it back to me in a different bowl but still not hot. The quesobirria tacos were good, the refried beans were soupy and the rice was dry. I haven't tried many things but the chorizo burrito, the horchata and chocoflan were good :) I didn't like the green salsa but the red was spicy which I liked. I'm not from the area and I really miss Mexican food and I'm glad I was able to find this spot. They also have good snacks and pantry options you can take home! It was a last minute run to come for dinner here.. and it was INCREDIBLE! we had fish & chicken tacos and the MOLCAJETE! (ohhhhmg!! it was SENSATIONAL!). A Molcajete is a hot bowl of sensational seasoned pork, jalapeños, beef, spicy sausage, prawns and other tastiness served with rice, beans, quac & tortillas. I will DEFINITELY come back here again, specifically for this dish! Service was really good and the atmosphere was LOVELY! there is South American foods for sale and an amazing selection of Mexican drinks and delicious deserts! Still pretty new and the staff is working on the waiting tables bit. The restaurant was clean and not crowded. Drinks were over to the table quickly. Then no one came back for the food order. Eventually we did get the order in and the tacos were good, the Mexican street corn was bland. We will be back just give then more time to get things running smoother. We ordered dessert, the first two choices were out of stock on a Saturday at 5 PM. Bonus my Margherita was not on the bill, but they did add it when pointed out. read more

Two friends and I went to La Taqueria, excited to try this new addition to the village! My friends ordered carne asada and fried avocado tacos. They loved the fried avocado ones. They also ordered the margarita flights - love this idea! I took a sip of all of them and our consensus was that the pink one was the best (I think it was hibiscus?), followed by the regular one which tasted like lemonade. The blue one was good and tasted like Gatorade, but the salt on the rim made it taste a little too tart. We got chips and salsa for the table, and the salsa tasted fresh but was very bland (it could honestly just use a dash of salt and maybe lime juice). The multicolored chips threw me off but they were well-salted so we kept snacking on them. I ordered a chicken burrito, but it was close to closing so they ran out of chicken and I ordered tofu instead. The burrito was honestly tasteless except for the burst of spice I got biting into the jalapenos. The tofu was cooked well but there was so much rice in it and it wasn't seasoned. I got black beans and rice as a side though and those were delicious! Overall, not terrible but not great, especially considering the price. On the other hand, the food is clearly not authentic and I don't believe La Taqueria is Latino-owned, so my expectations were pretty low to begin with (sidenote, let's try to support POC-owned businesses in the area!). Honestly, just adding more seasoning and flavor would make the food so much better. I look forward to returning in the future and trying more dishes! read more

This was our first time coming it. It's pretty busy but since there was only 2 of us, we were seated fairly quickly. We didn't order drinks. I ordered one of the sweet potato and one fried avocado taco. I got black beans as well as the green rice which tasted like cilantro which is okay with me. My boyfriend got one carnitas and one carne asada taco. We both really enjoyed the fried avocado, carnitas, as well as sweet potato. For dessert we ordered a tres leche cake which was sort of an odd texture and not as moist as most. We also got the fried apple empanadas which were delicious very fresh. The food is not excellent but they do have some good ideas. Has a lot to do with quality of ingredients I'm sure. I'd return for the tasty guacamole and some drinks no doubt. My mom enjoyed the sweet potato taco because sweet potato is always good, other than that she says it was bland. My sister said her roasted red pepper tofu bowl was good. I felt it was rather basic in flavor. The queso fresco is basically nacho cheese you'd get from a snack stand at a sports game. The carnitas meat in my taco was so dry, avacado taco was okay (might try again), and the bean taco could use a better cheese to beans ratio. Seemed like less than a pinch of cheese on there, added left over pico and the "queso fresco" for some flavor. Cute restaurant, lovely concept, needs a few tweaks but I'd go back again. If the culinary students from the college are the ones in the back cooking they could use a bit more time studying.. staff is nice, not sure anyone trained them in service or hospitality. Really sweet though. Hope this place gets a revival and really launches:) we need more Mexican food around. read more

Let's start with what's working - Mexican Coca Cola: it's always nice when a place carries the real stuff; The carnitas street taco: well seasoned, great sauce, really tasty. The mediocre - The street corn: bland; Chips and salsa: bland; the salsa is sweet, which is not my favorite, so I may be biased. The bad - Carne Asada street taco: the meat was tough, dry, and had very little seasoning; The corn tortillas: they tasted good but had no structural integrity; expect them to fall apart right away. My suggestion would be to serve the street tacos with two corn tortillas to fix this problem. read more

Unfortunately I had to use the restroom as soon as I arrived at the restaurant. I wish I had not because after seeing how absolutely disgusting it was, and with no paper towels I wanted to bolt but I was with a group so I stayed. It was so gross, worse than a gas station. The food had no taste, the server had no clue about anything but he was very sweet so I give him a pass. The restaurant itself is cute and relaxing with some quite nice music playing but without good food there is no point in returning. The margaritas and the tacos were both fresh and tasty. However, the side dishes were all bad. We tried the refried beans, red rice and street corn. The refried beans were completely bland and tasteless, the rice was mushy and cold and the street corn was ice cold and not served on the cob like traditional street corn. For sides being a la carte only and $3/$4 per side I would expect better quality. It also took a long time for the food to come out like well over 20 mins for 4 tacos and 3 small sides of rice, beans & corn. read more

BLAND food, BLAND drinks, BLAND service, BLAND music.... on Cinco de Mayo of all days! So disappointing. This place has changed, it used to be good. I heard it was new ownership and gave it a go, but this is bad. I'm up in the middle of the night feeling sick after having dinner there. First off, the blandest Mexican Southwestern Food I've ever had. The salsa: terrible, no flavor. The ground beef tacos were basically made out of a bag with bagged cheese on top! I could make better at home myself. Missing every element you can imagine: missing cumin, pepper, garlic, paprika, cayenne, salt, onion powder, any seasoning at all! I don't know how you can pull flavor OUT of something like that... is there a machine? Second, assuming also was boxed, the Sangria had zero fruit in it! What kind of "authentic" Mexican restaurant serves drinks and food with zero flavor without at least all the extras? One margarita was ok but that was probably from a box too. I have been served here a few times and I never have anything bad to say! The carnitas street tacos are absolutely to die for! The salads and bowls are very large portions and I always have left overs to bring home. The ingredients used in the food are so fresh you can taste the difference and everything is made to order so I don't mind waiting a little while for FRESH food! They add new stuff to try on their specials and it's always an exciting surprise. The staff is very friendly and attentive and always helping one another. Definitely a place to check out. read more

Swung by during their soft opening on May 2nd and was glad I did! What a great addition to the town and a lovely place to enjoy a delicious lunch! I'm looking forward to returning after their Grand Opening on May 5th! My husband enjoyed both of his tacos - he tried both the shrimp and the ground beef. I tried the carne asada - and loved it. Everything was SO good. We washed our tacos down with frozen margaritas and the very fruity (mmmm) white sangria. We arrived after the lunch rush, but there was still a steady stream of customers. The staff was exceptionally pleasant, answered all our questions, and delivered our order promptly. We will definitely be returning! read more

Disappointing service was super slow for lunch but no big deal I understand how hard it is right now but the server was annoyed we asked for it to go because my daughter had to get back to school. This is quite a story, please read till the end. Went for the first time last week. My wife had 2 steak Tacos, Steak was tough, & the Tacos were so small it would take at least 4 of them, too make you feel like you ate something! and they are $4.00 each!! I had one beef Burrito, pretty tasty, but not worth $11.00!! As far as service goes, well the waitress took our order, but before she did, she proceeded to tell us that they were almost out of everything on the menu! hence we had the option of Burritos, or beef or steak Tacos, she brought us our drinks, and a small basket of Taco chips, now the place was not super busy as we came pretty close to closing time, 7:30pm, they close at 8:00pm. Not 5 min after she brought us our drinks, she came back to our table, and asked us if our waitress had given us our check!?? She totally forgot she was our waitress!!?? Now this was a young lady that could not have been older than 25!! My wife reminded her she had just took our order & brought our drinks, she replied. she had forgot!! OMG! So we thought we would wait a few days, they say they are open Tues- Sat 12 to 8, so we decided Tues the 29th we would just order take out Burritos, so we called it was 6pm. got the answering machine, which said if they were not answering that they were either closed or too busy!! OMG! called for 10 min. straight, No answer, we live close by so took a ride over, only too find a NOTE on the door they were closed do to a maintenance issue, but would be open the next day, so Wed we thought we would call for take out, again NO answer! we took another ride down only to find the same Note on the door!!
