You wouldn't expect to find some of the best tacos in Maryland Heights. You'd expect those to be down on Cherokee st. Nope. Not these tacos. Tried all of the meats. Super authentic, quick and delicious. Knowing a tad bit of Spanish will help you. This is truly a Mexican spot but I def got by with my above limited Spanish lol. Worth a visit and again, some of the best Mexican food in the state.

Authentic Mexican food with spectacular tacos, enchiladas, salsas and other items - all tucked away in a small shopping strip in Creve Coeur features. Finally made it here after hearing my son rave about it from several previous visits. Table service available with hard working and efficient wait staff. Complementary salsas provided - a traditional mild red tomato salsa, spicy green salsa, and a spicy chili heavy red salsas. All of them were excellent! Here's what we ordered: - Fresh Chip: (4.25/5) Thick and crispy. Fresh and complimentary. Great salsas! - Tinga Tacos: (4.5/5) perfectly executed! - Al Pastor Tacos: (4/5) perfectly executed, but was missing pineapple - in my opinion - Campechano (steak/chorizo): (4.25/5) again, perfectly executed! - cheese dip: (4/5) love their take on the cheese dip. Better than other places in St. Louis. - Carnitas plate: (4/5) Good flavor. A bit dry, but delivered on flavor. - chicken quesadilla: (4/5) Pretty darned good for a standard quesadilla - enchiladas de mole: (4.25/5) unique and well executed. Pretty heavy mole with extra charred peppers mixed in - I think - horchata (3.5/5): Pretty standard. Good - flaun (3.5/5): Wasn't made in house, but tasty Overall, fantastic place. Definitely coming back

Excellent Mexican. Better than most. A hole in the wall place in a run down strip center, but worth stopping at. A genuine Mexican place, everyone working there spoke Spanish, and several of the people seated near us were speaking Spanish. Also, their menu is in English and Spanish (see photo). We ordered steak fajitas and a steak burrito, and opted for a side of queso and guac. The queso was excellent - hot, smooth, and tasty. The guac was fresh, chunky, and also very tasty. The meat in the fajita was marinated in something that gave it an excellent flavor. It was, however, a little tough. The burrito was very good also. They used ground beef (I would have preferred sliced strips), but it was good as presented.

Three stars for the Taco Al Pastor! It was delicious. Went with friends from work. I had their Chicken Tinga Tacos at a food event but had never been to the restaurant. The location is in a strip mall off Lindbergh, kind of a dive. Staff was friendly and prices reasonable I ordered the lunch special with two tacos, rice, and beans. I chose chicken tinga and Al Pastor. Wish I would have gotten two Al Pastor. Very flavorful! Rice had peas and carrots and I don't like that. Beans were fine. Next time I'll just order tacos.

To add to my review I want to say you must go next door to the carniceria. The chorizo is awesome.

As always, delicious! I would eat here everyday if I could the food is always fresh, and the perfect temperature (I like my food on the hotter side). Flavors are always an explosion of spices that all blend together to create an authentic experience. The staff, A+ Cannot wait for my next time here.

I really enjoyed the Mexican food here! I found it on Yelp with good reviews and decided to come for lunch. I would have never seen it otherwise. I got three tacos: al pastor, fish, and carnitas! All very good! I also got a side of guac, rice, and beans! I'm particular about my guacamole but this was made just right! I came alone and ended up sitting with a group of people who invited me to their table and offered me a beer. An excellent time and I will be back!

Went out for a good dinner. Been here before for a taco run and was satisfied, so I had to spread the good news and show it to someone else. They ordered tacos and a gordita and I got chicken fajitas and a pineapple drink. I do like their sauce choices. They give you free chips and salsa, but you get 3 types of salsa. Love the variety. We agreed that the chicken was seasoned well, therefore made for a good meal. Will def return!

It's certainly a Mexican joint! Yummy food and satisfactory service. Nothing fancy or special but it's great for a casual lunch. Horchata was a hit. The margaritas looked good but I didn't try it. The food I enjoyed most was the Al Pastor, Carnitas quesadilla, and the Queso! Flan was yummy too. We drove 30 minutes because my brother said it's his favorite Mexican place in the area. Probably one of the most authentic in Missouri.

Service was quick, good, everything was delicious... Not too spicy, came out temperature hot. Margaritas were MARVELOUS! We will definitely come back!

The staff was very friendly and the service was pretty quick. The tables and chairs were a bit small, the place could use some decor but if you're looking for authentic Mexican food with good service and don't care about looks then this place is the spot! We did get some looks from other customers, maybe cuz I'm a gringo but I don't mind. The food was awesome! I got the fajita mix plate with corn tortillas. Food was out in about 10 minutes, was cooked very good. It was very well seasoned and the onions and peppers were cooked all the through. The chichen wasn't dry, the steak was very good and my favorite was the shrimp. The price was very reasonable also.

Top left: Al Pastor, Top right: Campechano, Bottom left: Chorizo, Bottom right: Tinga

This place definitely has great tacos for a great low price! Make sure to check into La Tejana Taqueria from your Yelp app to get a free taco! The tacos that I got were the Tinga, Chorizo, Campechano, and the Al Pastor. My favorite taco would have to be the Al Pastor. My least favorite taco was the Tinga. First, all of the tacos had a lot of meat and it was definitely well worth the $1.99 for the taco! There are other options on how you can get the meats (tostada, sopes, etc). Second, definitely squeeze the lime and ask for their sauces! They will bring out two sauces if you request it. I forgot to ask what they were made of, but one of the sauces was red and one was green. The red sauce proved to be very spicy for me, but the green sauce was less of a kick. Third, the service was great and they all were very helpful in waiting on us. They took over orders and the food came out very quickly!

The quesadilla was perfectly cheesy and flavorful, the tacos were fresh and loaded with authentic flavor, and the guacamole tasted so fresh and delicious. Pair all that with a well-made margarita and you've got the perfect meal. Customer service was top-notch too--friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome without hovering. Overall, this spot checks all the boxes: great food, amazing service, plenty of space, and a really nice atmosphere. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

The food was very mid with a small light for hope. The chicken wings were good could use a better quality ranch but can't complain and the queso and chrizo was good but could use a lil more flavor. The burrito was shredded beef and was actually very good the green sauce was good but a little cold. My rice and beans were a little cold aswell but again we did come late. If you have specific spices for teas like I do, check out the wall of bag spices AND the selection of plastic containers (in another aisle). I feel bad for writing this because such a large store and the amount of work the employees spend on keeping it organized was impressive. Asking them to reorganize maybe the most "gringo" thing I could do, but I had to ask a customer and her daughter? tried to find the specific spice...they had to ask a worker that took me to the plastic container aisle. BUT- the major thing is that El Morelia offered the spice. Plus others that I wanted try! My other mistake was not visiting during the week and eating at the in store restaurant. On Saturday my bill was almost restaurant prices from a few years ago. During the week prices are more reasonable. The toppings bar completely changes the taste combination and value. Definitely "as-good-as-it-gets"! The employees were restocking bread container with fresh loaves with a sign stating "3 loaves for $2"... I grabbed 3 and just ate one- phenomenal! Not sure if it is sourdough, but it is definitely fresh and delicious! Mexican sodas variety would make Sam's Club jealous. Far more grocery selection than I ever imagined. The store is an old warehouse, but it is clean and well-stocked.
