Recently discovered King Burrito and it is delicious but has room for improvement. The torta was flavorful however the filling quantity could be better. Two single slices of tomato for a torta this size doesn't make much sense. The lack of meat can make a lot of bites just straight bread. My qualms with the burritos I have tried (the Cali burrito and breakfast burrito) is their use of potato wedges as the potato can be over powering. My suggestion would be a straight cut fry so that the other items in the burritos can be enjoyed as well. Service is always friendly and quick. As for ambiance I appreciate that they have different things playing on the different TVs. read more

Brush up on your "espanol" if you're coming to eat here! We lucked out and had a translator eating with us. They did however have one English speaking waitress who was very kind and fluent in both languages so no worries if you don't have your own on hand... We went in for lunch around 12pm and there were about 7 other occupied tables there as well. We walked in and were greeted (the normal thing a hostess would ask) in Spanish and I gave her a clueless look. So I turned to our Spanish speaking friend and he took over from there... they have music playing just loud enough to where you have speak with a smidge louder tone to be heard. The place isn't the biggest or nicest but the food is good and extremely fast. Could be because we ordered street tacos and a burrito but regardless it came out in less than 5mins of ordering. I don't recommend the Al pastor burrito as it was just too mushy and ended up coming apart. The Al pastor itself was delicious though! In a random breakfast craving, my partner and I decided to go King Burrito. I heard about it on someone else's review of it. It's one of those places where you can sit yourself so we sat ourselves at a booth and glanced at the menu. She ordered a breakfast platter and I got the California burrito. I had heard of King Burrito but had never been before. It's a dive in an old strip center at Midland and Lindbergh. My dinner date was hyping their tamales so in we went. Turns out tamales are a winter special and they didn't have any. Sad face! We regrouped. I got the Carne Asada and my dinner date ordered an assortment of tacos. The food was good. The service was spotty. There are 2 other really popular Mexican restaurants in this area that have meat markets attached and I'd probably choose one of them over this one but it's certainly worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. read more

We went to KB on a Monday evening, about 6pm. The place was busy but there were a few tables available. The service was a little slow but Litzy, our server, was busy so we didn't fault anyone for that. The place is very nice looking and judging by the clientele it promised to be very good and authentic. It didn't disappoint. We got our drinks and ordered right away. The menu was nice and mostly labeled in spanish which I also took as a good sign. I ordered the mixed fajita and my tablemate ordered beef tacos. The fajitas were amazing, the vegetables seared perfectly as was the beef, chicken, and shrimp. The tortillas might even be restaurant-made. If not then I need to find where they buy them, I've never had such great ones before. The mixed fajitas are well recommended. The side of rice was also very good and the refried beans. The vegetables and sour cream that come on the plate were very fresh. The tacos were stuffed full. There were three to an order. Also very good and recommended. The bill came up to $26! That was for mixed fajitas (three proteins!) plus sides, an order of three tacos and two diet cokes. We were amazed - we've had a lot worse food for a lot more money. Through our entire meal there was a steady line of people getting take out. Very popular and we can certainly understand why. We will definitely be back again when we're in the area. My husband has been telling me about his work lunches at King Burrito, and I am always up for Mexican, so we finally got there. It's a small spot, warm and friendly, and there are clearly regulars, which is always a good sign for me. I had a burrito that was huge and a little surprising. It was warm but had lettuce and sour cream inside. Just a temperature surprise. Also the cheese was American cheese, which, while unexpected, was very good! My spouse had a monstrous and delicious torta. We decided to take home half of our food so we could get the flan. It was caramelly and delicious. The staff was quick, friendly, and efficient. After many, many months of yearning, I finally got to try King Burrito. With short-form content being all the rage these days, all of the viral burrito-building videos had my burrito envy at an all time high. While there are exceptions, most of the Mexican restaurants in Missouri serve an aldulterated version of Mexican food to appeal to a wider consumer base. Completely understandable, but disappointing for fans of Mexican food, nonetheless. Nothing about this restaurant was a disappointment, though. I literally have nothing bad to say. For starters, they give you two different types of complimentary salsa, and both are delicious. One is a standard sort of cantina style, the other is, I believe, a tomatillo salsa. The barbacoa was fantastic, too - this may be the best burrito I've ever had. To say that my burrito envy has been satisfied would be a disservice to what they're doing over at King Burrito. This prowess of this restaurant, at every angle, is truly befitting of a crown. Not only was it worth the drive over, it was worth the year long anticipation. I cannot wait to go back, and I strongly recommend that you check it out if you're in or around the Saint Louis area. read more

King Burrito is a little place in a strip mall next to a laundromat, Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant and a Mexican Grocery store. This is a hole in the wall, but it a MUST VISIT if you like good, authentic Mexican Food. I spent the first 35 years of my life consuming lots of Mexican Food in Arizona. This along with growing up a couple miles from the Mexican border have giving me a good perspective of what good Mexican Food is like. Let me tell you - This is about as good as you will find in St. Louis. I was ordered a special burrito that the waitress suggested. Housemade chorizo, eggs, potatoes, cheese and some hot peppers. This was a really awesome burrito. It was tasty, huge and spicy. The waitress brought us a couple salsas. The hot was spicy and really tasty. My daughter had some chicken flautas and they were so tasty! These were the best I have found in St Louis. This misses had some steak and pork tacos. I have passed by this place probably more than a hundred times on my way to the Rock Road to do some shopping but never stopped for a bite. The waitress was incredibly friendly the whole time we were there but didn't feel the need to stop by the table constantly, which was great. They give you complimentary chips and salsa to get you going; the chips were always warm, and the salsa tasted roasted with a good kick of spice. I wasn't personally a fan of the coffee brand they brew, but I tend to be picky about my caffeine. I ordered the California burrito with chicken to get a feel for how King Burrito does actual burritos, and I was not disappointed! They don't use the usual shredded chicken in their burritos, but grilled (even the non-fajita burritos). The chicken was great and the fried potatoes inside were heavenly. The burrito was also enormous for the low cost. My husband got the chicken fajitas which had enough filling for 9 fajitas! The fajita chicken had extra seasoning, which was amazing. There were a lot of positive reviews, with people saying "oh, hidden gem" and "oh, the burritos are huge", you know stuff like that. Yes it is hidden, don't know about "gem". No, the burritos were not huge. I mean, they were decently-sized, but it was all ordinary. I could have went someplace else and got the same thing. The shrimp burrito was good. I noticed that if you type Best Tortas into the Yelp app this place comes up first, and I decided I had to investigate. Because a torta is essentially just a sandwich made from the same meat used to make tacos, for brothers who need a bigger lunch, I wasn't sure what that could possibly mean. Is this an especially large torta? Why would the best anything be in a strip mall near the intersection of Midland and Lindbergh? It could be that King Burrito skimped on the interior decor and passed the savings on to you, the consumer, in the form of a sandwich that I'd say is at least as good, if not better than you can get elsewhere. To step into King Burrito is to take a trip back to the Jimmy Carter "malaise" era, as depicted in the movie Argo. All of the furniture and what have you seems to be at least that old. Not that I was sweating the decor. Arguably, a taqueria with a nice, modern interior, like a McDonald's, wouldn't be as authentic. The food probably wouldn't be any good. The menu was suspiciously extensive, like at a Cheescake Factory. Because I already knew what I was gonna get, I didn't go over it very well. But come to think of it, I wonder what some of those things could possibly have been. You can get a torta with beef, chicken or "milanesa," which I'm pretty sure is a type of beef. I was hoping I'd be able to get one with pork, as a personal affront to Louis Farrakhan, so that's something they're gonna have to work on. I decided to go with the steak, hoping it would be neither a skimpy serving size nor overly tough. I asked the girl who works there, who's adorable (not that looks are important), if the torta came with anything. She said it didn't. Another girl behind the counter, perhaps sensing they were about to lose $8, interjected, saying it comes with a side of rice and beans. The thing is, I was gonna order the sandwich regardless, so I may have just gotten some free rice and beans. Alas, they could have kept that rice and beans. The refried beans were decent enough. The rice was like mall food court Chinese fried rice but without the soy sauce. It would have been better covered with fried chicken coated with a thick layer of high fructose corn syrup--but what wouldn't be? The sandwich, on the other hand, was amazing. The steak was neither overly tough nor a skimpy serving size. (Even if it's tough, I want as much as possible.) I especially like the fact that the bread was grilled inside and out--which I hear is the key to a good grilled cheese sandwich. If I had to guess what's on this thing (which is all you can do), I'd say it was steak, shredded lettuce, jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, and to my surprise, a slice of American cheese. I'm not sure how authentic that is, but look at it like this: Some places charge an arm and a leg for a slice of American cheese on a sandwich that should come with American cheese anyway. All told, this was an exceptional bargain even without the possibly free, if worthless, rice and beans. For like $8, including tax, I almost felt like I was getting too much of a bargain, like maybe I should stick around and sweep up, or play some songs on the guitar leaning against the wall out front. read more

The best salsa Verde I've ever had. It's actually spicy, just a warning of you're not expecting it. Had the chilaquiles: house made chips with refried beans, eggs over medium and a healthy serving of streak. I was starving for lunch and I still have some left over.
