One of my favorite meals ordered during my visit to banff! I came during Sunday night and it was very quiet with only 2 other parties dining there. They do have guest parking underground but you will need to ask the front desk for a card to open the garage. Our food came out hot and the waitress offered to sprinkle fresh Parmesan and black pepper to our plates. Both of the sauces were delicious and had us scraping for every last of it. Had dinner at Terrazza in Banff. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated. The interior felt a bit somber and could use a bit more warmth, but it was still comfortable. We had the steak and the bison cannelloni, both of which were fine. The jus that came with the meat was actually very flavorful and stood out. We also enjoyed a nice bottle of Valpolicella that paired well with the meal. Overall, a decent experience with friendly service and solid food, though not the most memorable atmosphere. read more

This is a place inside Banff Park Lodge hotel. We had breakfast here only because we were staying there. The room was almost like a sun room with indoor cacti along the outer wall. It's not immediately apparent as a breakfast place but their breakfast selection was quite respectable. The two us shared the Turkish eggs. Two poached eggs on a bed of Tzatziki along with bite-sized chunks of avocado. And of course their blend of spices. It was served with warm naan bread. The result was simply delicious. Recommend it absolutely! The place was busy but the service was consistent & good. read more

This spot is one of the best I've tried on vacation at Banff. The back area is gorgeous, and not noisy. Service was amazing, the staff are so professional and friendly. The free bread and chocolates were so tasty. The rosellini al funghi was the best dish, so incredibly flavorful without being heavy handed. The other dishes were also great, I have no complaints. Service: Servers seemed disinterested from the start of our dinner. It was pretty standard service, nothing more. Not sure if it was a particularly long day for the staff at this time, but you could tell they just did not want to be there. Reservations are definitely required as many people were rudely turned away when we were there (on a weeknight). Service staff definitely need more training on hospitality and customer service here. Food: The focaccia that our meal came with was decent, and helped pass the time as we were waiting for appetizers. The bison carpaccio was pretty good, not too tangy or overbearing. The mussels, however, were quite salty. Took at least 30mins after we finished eating our appetizers for our main course to come out. Luckily we were busy conversing, but it should not take this long. The staff didn't bother to check in on us for more bread or apologize for the wait. I had the Rossellini, their "signature dish" for my main. It was surprisingly delicious and filling. Nice crispy cheese on top, and the tomato sauce wasn't too tangy or dull. My dinner mates had the chicken parm, and the shrimp alfredo. The chicken parm, as with other reviews I've seen, is just okay. The chicken was a bit dry for us, and there wasn't much flavour. The shrimp alfredo was also a little bland. The portions where decent, though. Ambiance: Beautiful sunroom with plants along the sides of the glass. Overall a relaxing and cozy ambiance. The music wasn't too overbearing. It does feel very dated though like the rest of the hotel. Overall, the prices are pricey for the quality of food and service you get. The ambiance is cozy with the sunroom and partial mountain views. The meal we had was satisfying, though the service was a bit underwhelming. The "Banff's top Italian restaurant" slogan on their website should be removed, as I don't think they deserve this title without major upgrading to their menu and service. read more

As a person who enjoys a martini, I was pleasantly surprised that the bartender, Till, is one of the rare few to make a proper martini instead of simply providing a cold glass of gin. Terrible dining experience. The food was average at best. At first I ordered a whisky on ice and my wife ordered a margarita off the special drink menu. She brought my drink without ice and a margarita for my wife and an extra margarita for me. When I told her I didn't order the extra margarita she seemed upset and said she would have to pay for it. Feeling sorry for her I said just leave it and I would pay the $16. I had to ask later for my ice. I had the veal chop and ask if I could substitute the vegetables that came with it for a small amount of pasta and was told she could leave vegetables off but would have to buy a whole $18 side of pasta. I've never had this problem in a Italian restaurant. We had to ask for bread early in the meal was brought two small rolls and two pats of butter. Later in the meal I asked for more bread and was told the first round is free but if I wanted more it would $1.00 per pat of butter and 3.00 per roll. It's obvious whoever manages this restaurant doesn't care about customer satisfaction. After $140 including tip we left dissatisfied and mad. All other restaurants we ate at were good and were crowded. There just a few diners in this restaurant and now I know why. read more

I love absolutely everything about this restaurant, even though the meatballs in my spaghetti and meatballs were a little dry and I make my own better but then again I'm quite picky about meatballs and my favourite restaurant in New York City is called the meatball shop and they are famous and they've taught me well so I won't hold it against them... But more importantly the ambiance and the amazing staff service and the beautiful fireplace and the furniture and the real plants and the lighting in the music... All of these things added up to one of the most romantic meals I've ever had in my life so for me it was perfect perfect perfect. My boyfriend and I were staying two floors up in one of my favourite hotels ever the Banff Park Lodge and the weather and so I was terrible so it was so lovely to be able to eat inside on the last day that restaurants in Alberta we're open before the Covid shut down... It was our first time vacation away so it was absolutely delicious and beyond romantic. And then the icing on the cake was the fabulous bartender take a photo of the two of us in front of the fireplace and this is literally the first photo we've ever had a reach other together. We chose this spot due to the reviews and were highly disappointed. It is the only bad meal we had in Banff and it is a shame, given there are so many good places to choose from. The atmosphere is a bit tired and needs updating (the carpet was disgusting around our table). The food was very mediocre. The risotto was not traditional Italian and had very little lobster, it also was overloaded with chili sauce. The chicken parm was just OK. My girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here at The Terrace on a quiet wednesday night. The cocktail list is large and has plenty of options. The wine list is average but does a good job of covering everything. We both found something we liked. We started off with the escargot, which had a different spin on it then I've ever seen before but was still very tasty. We also had the scallops which were cooked absolutely perfectly. The dish did contain a lot of ginger though. If you're not a ginger fan you may want to steal clear. For mains we had the salmon and the lamb shoulder. The salmon was also cooked perfectly, a common theme throughout our meal, and had a nice grainy mustard sauce. The lamb was very tender and had great flavor. It also came with butternut squash mashed potatoes which were absolutely amazing! At the end of our meal the chef came out to chat with us. I love when that happens! Overall we had a great experience and I would definitely go back to The Terrace. read more

The dining area is super cute. A lot windows (although the view's not the best) and the plants are a very nice touch. The cute interior made me really excited for the dining experience. Service was reallllly slow. I'm not sure how long we waited for our food but my whole family was very hungry to the point where I was about to ask our waiter about our food. For appetizers we order the charcuterie plate and the proschiutto wrapped melons. the charcuterie plate was all right. It wasn't amazing but it's wasn't bad either. But the melons... the cantaloupes weren't ripe yet so it was almost like biting into an apple. I was really disappointed. Our entrees took forever to arrive. My pasta was a chef's take on paella which was interesting... but I'd definitely prefer paella. My brother got a risotto which was all right. I think my dad's plate of some kind of lobster linguine was the best. Overall, we were left a bit disappointed and wanting more. The people working there were kind enough to apologize for the wait. Apparently, the kitchen was getting backed up. I don't think we'll be back though. read more

I first dined at the Terrace at Banff Park Lodge almost 10 years ago, so it's high time for me to leave a review! Unfortunately, my view of the restaurant is much lower than the lounge - I wish I could separate the two :( First visit was for a work event, and noticing the menu had no vegetarian entree, I called ahead and requested one. I was told they would make me a great meal, no problem. Turns out, that "great" meal was pasta with plain tomato sauce, barely a step above Catelli. My starter mushroom soup was delectable, so I was very disappointed to receive such a pedestrian main, especially for the price. Fast forward to November 2016. My diet is even more restricted right now, so we emailed a week ahead with a list of requirements. Like most restaurants I have dealt with recently, they don't answer email, so we called several days later & got a confirmation that they could fix me a pasta dish with some seasonal vegetables. Unfortunately, it was pretty bland - plain spaghetti, a few herbs, & some roasted (aka charred) vegetables, one of which I could not identify by taste or appearance (it was pretty dark in there). No broth, or a bit of fat, or pureed vegetable to use as a sauce. There was no moisture in the meal at all, so the pasta stuck together. Not really worth all the effort. Meanwhile, the table next to us was complaining that their guaranteed gluten-free meal had pasta in the soup. So, I think I will summarize this portion of the review by saying that you should avoid the Terrasse at all costs if you have ANY special dietary requirements. Not only are they not that imaginative with their offerings, they also aren't that careful with them. (My partner said his beef dinner was good, but not $46 good) On the other hand, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I like hanging out in the bar/lounge. The bar itself looks like your standard hotel bar with a somewhat-pricy restaurant attached, but they also have couches & lounge chairs around for a more casual feel. Service is usually quite good, and prices are on par with standard Banff rates for non-dive bars. So I continue to have a few drinks there most times I am staying in the hotel, to chat with the bartender and other guests, and just unwind. Not my usual type of place, but what can I say? I like the lounge. Won't be going back to the restaurant, though. read more

We were dubious about this restaurant due to the location, but our concerns were unfounded. The menu is interesting, although very limited for vegetarians and geared towards meat eaters (only 2 fish dishes). There were some strange combinations (coffee infused mashed potato for example) but these strange combinations were not overpowering. The food was not fine dining, but the chef is trying hard and making a good effort... overall, we thought it was pretty good (even though my Arctic Char was overcooked) and we enjoyed the food/evening. The restaurant is quiet, upscale and has a good wine selection and great cocktails. If we had any complaints at all, it would be to improve the options for vegetarians. We would definitely recommend it if you are in town for a few nights - well worth a visit,,, and don't be put off by the fact that the hotel exterior isn't too salubrious! read more

Last night I placed a take out order of two pizzas and two salads at La Terrazza. When I opened the order I was terribly surprised that the caprese salad was 6-8 grape tomatoes and 1 ball of mozzarella and the carrot/ garden salad was limp and extremely small. The pizza was stacked 3 small pieces on top of three pieces and looked unappetizing all cramped into a small box. I returned to the restaurant with 1/2 eaten pizza and the untouched salads because the principal was that the order was not made properly. The supervisor Ludivine was apologetic but said she could not issue a refund this evening and that we should return the next day to see the manager Chris Bolt. She wrote on the back of the receipt "The guest will be back tomorrow to get a refund - Ludivine". The food was left and we left the restaurant. The next day I returned and spoke to the manager, Chris Bolt, was unwilling to issue a refund. His reason was that the food left the premise and he didn't know what was done to the food once we left the restaurant. He said that was the same quality food that they serve in the restaurant. Bottom line is that this was a very poor experience and I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Very good food ! Softshell crab salad was delicious and the pasta was great! I was actually thinking to give 4 stars to this place ... however service was not good at all... the waitress (a very young girl who said she was from Edmonton) was not polite at all and made a few racist jokes; which I consider inappropriate in general and more inappropriate in a touristic place like a Banff restaurant. I strongly suggest to the owners of the restaurant to call out their staff and reinforce the message that Banff is a touristic place and all tourist going there to spend their money must be welcome as they help with the town economy... read more

Yum! We stopped at the Terrace Lounge for a few mojitos on a Saturday afternoon. Mine was made with mint and my husband's was made with basil. Kelly was our server/drink maker and her mojitos were excellent. We came back in the evening for the tasting menu with wine compliment. Hidden away inside the Banff Park Lodge, behind the Terrace Lounge, the Terrace restaurant serves up an upscale dining experience in a quiet and intimate setting. I had the sous vide lamb shoulder, it was spectacular. We also had the tenderloin, it was cooked perfectly. We started with the deep fried got cheese, it was crispy served with an apricot and berry jam with house made crackers. The cheesecake is "orgasmic" . Look no further - this will be your best meal in Banff. We were a party of 4 - husband and I like restaurants, our friends travel the world and are way into food and wine. We all loved our meals and experience. The escargot basil ravioli appetizer was out of this world. The escargot cook in savory little pillows, bursting with flavor when you bite them. Tremendous sauce, grilled baby tomatoes, a little mushroom and foam...yes, foam. Don't judge, it was great! My entree - lamb prepared "sous vide" - sealed in a packet with wine and seasonings, then boiled. The result - super tender, cooked in it's juices. I never had this preparation and was skeptical, but it was wonderful. Excellent texture, tender, flavorful and presented with lovely vegetables and starch. All the plates were beautiful. Husband had steak and it was perfectly prepared. Friend had medallians of something (elk, caribou,?? I don't remember) and praised it. He also thought wine list was interesting and well priced. The Terrace has dessert tasting flights and we were there on the change day. We were able to order one of the past and one of the new flights. Six little dessert gems - all winners. Chef Urs is charming, he came out and spent time discussing our meals and answering questions. Our server Emma was a pro. Don't let the Travel Lodge location turn you off. My husband and I had been searching online for a place to go to dinner after our elopement. I had spent much time online looking at reviews of different restaurants in the area. I came upon The Terrace and it seemed to have the best reviews, the best prices (bonus!), and a variety of food on their menu. We went there after our wedding ceremony and are so glad we chose that restaurant. The food was amazing. We had the Duck and the Roselline (pasta wrapped ham/prosciutto). We shared our meals and both loved each menu item (including the sides!). I also have to state that the service was impeccable. They began celebrating with us by bringing out some complimentary champagne. From then on the service continued to be outstanding from checking on us to make sure everything was going well/tasting well to keeping my water glass filled, I could not speak more highly of this place. We greatly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back the next time we are in Banff! read more
