I come to this place all the time when I come here. The food and service is always good. I was so disappointed screwed up my order. I just wanted chicken cheese and sour cream in my enchiladas never had a problem before getting. Girl server was rude and didnt apologize . The guy server didn't tell me it would be extra for grilled chicken. She said it was already permade. Asked for manager said wasn't here. Very sad and probably will never be back. Came in here on Friday night of Labor Day weekend. The outside deck had plenty of open seats. Started off with a coconut margarita and a Pina Colada margarita. Both very good. Very creamy like made with ice cream. Had the combination platter which was a chicken burrito and beef taco with rice and beans. Bf and mom both had enchilada supreme entree's. Would come back here to avoid the crowds and for a nice cheap dinner. read more

This is the best Mexican food in the area! The queso dip is excellent. The salsa fresh and chips warm. The fried chimichangas are great also. We are locals and eat here regularly. My husband always gets the fajitas and I always get the tacos de carne asado. It's chopped skirt steak and the hot sauce it comes with is awesome! Service is always quick and friendly. Had a taco salad. It was like slop, liquid stuff in bottom .worse Taco Salad I have ever had. Wouldn't feed it to my dog!

Time to update my review. On recent visits I found some really nice improvements - the staff was still friendly and pleasant, but food was brought to the table very promptly; and the food was better. Way to go! read more

I won't be revisiting this place. My blue margarita was good that's why I have the place 2 stars, but my seltzer water tasted like dish soap, the guacamole had way to much lime. The best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The inside is large and has a wooden saloon type feeling. The decor is filled throughout the whole restaurant. The booths have painted murals on them. The service is quick and friendly. They immediately sit you down and give you chips and salsa. The salsa has a spicy tangy taste and there chips are addictive. They immediately give you your drinks. The menu is huge and can be a little confusing. When you order your food they will bring it to you extremely quickly as if it is fast food. Though the food is fresh and hot. The 4 beef tacos are my favorite. The meat is hot and dripping with juice and the shredded mozzarella is half melted. The taste is so flavorful and filling. By far the best tacos ever. I also love the chicken and steak fajita. It is brought to you on a sizzling pan with the cooked vegetables and meat still cooking on it. The flavor is so delicious. The atmosphere service and food are all five star. And is my favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

Renamed to La Tonalteca but still the same great cheap authentic Mexican food. We have been going to this establishment for many years, and they have always been consistently good. The food is authentic, made to order and the kitchen is fast! The Golden Margarita on the rocks with salt will leave you with a nice buzz and tastes great, too. Outdoor seating in warmer weather. Great colorful decor. They will sing a Mexican birthday song and put a big sombrero on your head if its your birthday. read more

This is actually called La Tonalteca. Until we ate here I thought the best Mexican food that I had ever had was found at Tortuga's Mexican Village in Princeton, NJ. I think La Tonalteca beats it! I love the chicken enchiladas, they are done to perfection! Waitstaff is very friendly but a bit slow. The drinks are very good and not too strong or watery. I highly recommend the pina colada and the sangria. Very reasonable prices and large portions. read more

La Tonalteca is always a stop on our way to the beach. Have yet to have a bad meal and you cannot beat the prices. When you sit down you get homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa with a good kick to it!! You can get a side of Queso dip which is always very good, highly recommend it!! There are so many menu items you would think it is hard to keep everything fresh, but somehow they manage. The staff is always very nice and right on top of your needs. Lunch specials are alsu great, for $5-6 a plate you can't beat the cost. read more

Not good at all! 3 people standing there when we walked in and nobody even said hello. Waitress was not good all... We seemed to be an inconvience to her and to top it all off I wanted quacamole with my meal....not even homemade!!! For a Mexican eatery to not even this basic dish is inexcusable. We ate late so I only had a Margarita and the Tortilla Soup. Both were very good! My daughter had a Cheese Quesadilla and Sopapilla's. We were very happy and full, much better than the disapoointing CQ she had at El Dorado Restaurant. If we lived closer this would for sure be a regular stop!! read more

THE MANAGER RICCARDO TREATS THE CUSTOMERS LIKE A JERK AND HARRASSES THEM! We have gone to the Scranton, PA for years and since being here have gone to this one. We ordered the Chile Con Queso and have ordered it in the past. The chips came out soaked and wet and it as a mess to even look at. I sent it back as it wasn't there normal dish which is a $5.79 appetizer. I have ordered it there, the Dover and Scranton location before. When our party was paying the bill this man who stated he was the manager came to our table and advised us that next time we come into "his" place" not to order that appetizer as he doesn't like throwing away food. The man is a total JERK. The kitchen messed it up and it was sent back. end of story so now the manager comes to a table of customers to pick a fight over a $5.79 item on the menu? Seriously? There are other Mexican places to eat which are great and that wouldn't happen- Dos Locos, Papa Grande and the new one on Rt. 1 by the bridge by Spring Lake. So now I have a total idiot jerk of a manager telling me what to order or I wont get service the next time I come in? LOL He wont have to worry. Who does that? What a sad thing when a manager can totally ruin a business and chase four other business owners from the place to never to eat there again. I have enjoyed only lunches at Milford and Dover locations. We decided to have a dinner at Rehoboth location and very disappointed. We ordered 2 selection combo and my favorite carne asada. Beef burrito from combo was ground beef instead of shredded beef and carne asada was tough with 15 to 20 % fat on edge. The menu place was $3.00 more than what I found on internet by other than their own web site that did not list menu. I know some restaurant do not update menu/prices if they make them available on their site.We will stay with our regular restaurant. read more

I have never submitted a yelp review before, but after being here, I felt I had to comment on how great this place is. We travelled from just outside Toronto, Canada to a baseball tournament in Georgetown, DE. Wherever our travels take us, we try to find a good Mexican place (as you can imagine, not a lot of great Mexican north of the border!). This place was our favourite so far! My family of 4 had the Burrito Azteca, chili con queso and beef, Tacos de Carne Asada and Burrito deluxe. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Atmosphere was colourful and fun, service was quick, attentive and very polite. Overall we had a great experience. Highly recommended! read more

We usually eat here about 8 times a year, and like this Rehoboth Location a lot. Since it is a chain, service and possibly quality may vary at different locations. I usually get the steak burritos Mexicanos, and always enjoy it. We arrive hungry and leave stuffed, and think they give pretty good value for a tourist town. Tonight I ate at a popular Mexican style restaurant located in downtown Lewes, called Agave. After waiting over 3 hours on a Wednesday evening, we were seated at some rustic style tables that were apparently carelessly cleaned as my hand would try to stick to the table top. I ordered the Surf & Turf burrito, which was a good size portion for $16.00 The taste was different in each byte, going from extra salty to spicy, with more rice and black beans than anything else. With 5 of us at the table, I was the only one able to finish the meal. The verdict was "it was good, but Not worth the wait". They will be expanding Agave this winter, so you may want to try it in the spring when it re-opens. I doubt that I'll ever go back though, as La Tonalteca gives a meal that suits me perfectly. read more

About as good as authentic Mexican gets this far from the border. Especially for a chain. I always get the same thing, but my wife has tried about 3/4 of the menu now & has not complained once. She's a Puerto Rican girl raised in El Paso, Texas, so I figure she knows good authentic Mexican better than me. The food is very good, always prepared quickly, my drink is never empty nice clean bar with tv (if you just want a couple drinks), & the prices, for the amount of food you get, are excellent! My wife & I can go there & get dinner with an appetizer & drinks for like $25! (sometimes a tiny bit more, depending on whether she gets her daquari or not.) My advice though, is to ask for a table with "Nachito". He runs the place & is the only one we will allow to serve us. We did have another employee once (one of nacho's days off, tuesdays & sundays), who must have been having a bad day or something, because we got nothing but attitude from him. We told Nacho about it the next time we went & he apologized for the employee, comped us our drinks & an appetizer, & to be honest, I've never seen that other waiter in there since. Now we go there only on days he works, & if all his tables are busy, we wait. Just how I do business. You do right by me, I'll do right by you. But anyway, just a suggestion... go in, ask to be seated at one of Nachito's tables, try the Chile con Queso or Queso Fundido as an appetizer, then the whole Chicken Quesadilla, Chiles Rellenos, or this shrimp dish, Camarones con Chipotle or something like that for your entree (can't remember the name), & fried ice cream for dessert. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!! And I guarantee no one will look after you like Nacho. read more
