This review is going to be in English and Spanish. Teníamos ganas de menudo pero queríamos probar algun lugar nuevo. Siempre es difícil encontrar un lugar con menudo rico y autentico pero que suerte haber encontrado este restaurante! El menudo estuvo delicioso, enchilosito y muy sabroso. El caldo estaba un poco diferente de lo que había probado antes- un poco espeso y con un sabor muy distinto que no había probado en los lugares que acostumbro. Unas de las parte que me encantaron fueron las tortillas hechas a mano- recién hechas. Tenían un toque que me gustó mucho, como si tuvieran manteca. Mi novio pidió chilaquiles verdes y también muy ricos. Hasta nos trajeron un plato pequeño para compartir el menudo entre mi novio y yo. Nos regalaron un agua de pepino y tienen totopos con salsa y frijoles de cortesía. El servicio fue muy atento y amable. La gente que trabaja ahí nos cayó muy bien. Esperamos volver pronto! We were craving menudo but wanted to try a new place. It's always hard to find a place with delicious, authentic, so we were lucky to come across this restaurant! The menudo was delicious--spicy and full of flavor. The broth was a bit different from what I'd had before; it was slightly thick and had a unique taste unlike the others I've had. One of the highlights for me was the handmade tortillas--they were freshly made. They had a flavor I really liked, almost as if they were made with lard. My boyfriend ordered the green chilaquiles, which were also very tasty. They even brought us a small extra bowl so we could share the menudo. We were treated to a complimentary cucumber agua fresca, and they provide free chips with salsa and beans. The service was very attentive and friendly; we really liked the staff. Review is solely on pricing / over charging issues. Unfortunately I don't have the receipt from last week but I kept today's. My coworkers and I really enjoy the food and the fact that it's only 5mins away from the office. We have ordered before online but that was a shit show and he said to call it in. We have and have been overcharged every time. He is what I ordered: 2 chilaquiles with scrambled eggs no meat a breakfast burrito and a pollo burrito. Over the phone he said 66 total. I was charged $69 and online ordering is $59...make it make sense. I called to ask about individual pricing and he said $18 chilaquiles $13.25 breakfast burrito and $13.25 pollo burrito. Weird since his menus aren't outdated. Anyway - we have decided not to order from here anymore unless we individually place an order online and deal with the chaos later. read more

Great Mexican food with extraordinary service. It's a small little location, it shares a wall with another restaurant right next to it, so just be sure to walk into the right one. I walked into the wrong place the first time. Came here looking for some Menudo and they're more than delivered. They have Menudo every day and if I lived in the area, I might be tempted to get some every day because it is great. The staff is very friendly, they even gave us some chips and beans to eat while we waiting for our food there agua Fresca are amazing as well The next time I'm in the area in the morning and craving some Menudo, this will be the place I will be going to. read more

First time trying this place. We're not from the area but decided to stop by since it had good reviews. Looks like a family owned restaurant which is nice. The man greeted us and took our order. We seen another young man walk in and went straight to the kitchen and started cooking without washing his hands Which put me in a really bad place. I'm sure this is not the first time I've eaten food from someone that doesn't wash their hands but seeing it makes it 10x worse. I still decided to eat it because I just didn't want to pay for it and throw it away. Also prayed to god because god knows I really didn't want to eat it. The food was good. The customer service won me over! The lady working the cashier was so sweet and hardworking. I got a beef birria torta and it was soooo good. I requested really spicy sauce and they delivered. We ordered to-go, but I feel like eating there would be a fun experience. It's a little smaller, but still comfortable. The ambiance is bright with lots of decor on the wall. I decided to come here for lunch and I'm so glad I did. The moment I walked in, the owner greeted me with a papaya juice and a warm smile. I took his recommendation on the carne asada torta and I waited for my order. As I was waiting, he brought out some tortilla soup for me to try. This is one of those family owned restaurants that we have to keep close to our hearts because they truly are the core of the oc community. The food was great. The Torta was huge! And it came with grapes. The tortilla soup was flavorful and rich. The papaya juice was light and refreshing. I can't say better things about this place - it's a gem. read more

Wanted a quick torta and this place delivered. Hospitality was on point and I was greeted by a nice older gentleman upon entering. I ordered a chicken milanesa torta. While waiting I was given complimentary agua Fresca (watermelon), chips, beans, and salsa. I was pleased with the sides and the drink. The agua Fresca was refreshing and delicious, and the chips were freshly fried. My torta was on point and the chicken was juicy and tender. The torta was big and filling. The owner very courteous gentleman... right away offered us watermelon water... which very refreshing my teenage daughters enjoyed but had to have my Coca Cola imported from Mexico...with plate of salsa and refried pinto beans accompanied with tostada chips very tasty while we waited for our food in very nice small restaurant spot. My Carne Asada Torta very well plated with radishes and baby onions with a grilled jalapeño (sweet flavor not spicy) seasoned with lemon and salt. My Girls had Carne Asada Tacos with handmade tortillas and my Husband gobble up the Milanesa Torta that he ended up saying we would definitely come back when In the area (we driving down from valley on way to soccer game in Oceanside and needed to fuel up before girls game). La Torta was pretty solid but really a 4.5, rounded up to a 5 mainly for extras (I'll explain). We had a quesadilla for the kid, Al pastor tacos, asada torta, asada nachos, and asada wet burrito. The asada items really were probably more 3-4 star but the al pastor tacos were excellent, easy 5 star. I definitely recommend getting the al pastor when there. The tortillas were hand made and the al pastor meat had a rich and robust flavor that was some of the best I've had in town. The owner gave us a free papaya fruit water, which was refreshing and tasty, and he gave me a bag of pickled habaneros and onions, which was out of this world and something I've not ever gotten at a Mexican restaurant before.. I loaded up my tacos with the mix and they were really some of the best tacos I can remember having for quite a long time, including just coming from phoenix.. loved it! I probably won't order the asada when I go back (not that it was bad but not excellent like the pastor) but I definitely will be back for that pastor!! This place is the definition of great Mexican food. Too many times I end up at a restaurant and regret buying my food there because it's over priced and bland- but not this place. La torta loca has well priced, delicious food with that home made abuelita touch. Every time I come here and sit down, they never cease to make sure I have enough agua Fresca, beans, chips, and salsa. The staff are about the friendliest and most welcoming I have ran into, they believe in their food and want nothing more than for you to enjoy it. My boyfriend and I were in town and wanted some Mexican food. We picked this place and we arrived a few minutes or so before closing. The gentleman that helped us out was super attentive and kind. Ambiance was alright, nothing too special just a regular authentic Mexican restaurant. My boyfriend loved his food and I loved my mojarra. We were given free papaya Agua Fresca.
