Went into La Travesia for an early dinner with some coworkers and it's a tiny but chill restaurant near the Financial District in SF. I got there a little early and staff greeted me and let me sit at our reserved table/asked if I'd like anything to drink which was nice. Onto the food... The warm crispy tortilla chips and salsa that came out at the beginning was great. You could tell it was all house made. If I ever see quesabirria as an option, I jump. It's not easy to find so I assume when I see it that it'll be amazing but sadly it didn't quite hit here. It was good, but it could have been better. When it comes out it looks like it would be bursting with flavor between the consomme, lime to squeeze, pickled onions and radish, and the quesabirria itself. Surprisingly though, the flavors were pretty muted :(. The consomme had a nice consistency but it and the meat were lacking rich flavor which is what I'd expect for this dish. Still a place worth checking out if you're in the area!

Excellent food, unassuming ambiance, and friendly service. We came here for lunch and ordered their chicken mole poblano (outstanding), their birra tacos (delicious), and their fried plantains (they were cooked perfectly). Large portions, reasonable price, and very friendly server. I highly recommend this place!

I love going here because of the delicous food served. You would have to come find out for yourself. If I can bring Mom here and she enjoys it a lot you would to. I had a special dish called Costillas de puerco en salsa asada. The following time I had Al Pastor Super Burrito and Mom had her favorite Carne Asada Quesadilla!!! The ambience is very welcoming, the staff is very friendly and attentive to customers as I observed. They would ask if I needed anything else or hows the food? This shows passion is what happens in the kitchen to the dining table.

Came in for dinner and was surprised on how warm the interior felt. I sat down near the kitchen and was able to see the chefs prep for food! The waitress was very kind and help when I asked for recommendations. When Sat, she brought out a bowl of chips and salsa! I ended up getting the mushroom empanadas, carne asada fajitas plate, and a watermelon Agua Fresca. I really enjoyed everything, very flavorful and fresh! Will be coming back when craving tacos!

A real hole in the wall in the Tenderloin, and a gem for sure. My friend and I grabbed a late lunch at La Travesia. The service was great, I really appreciate how the server gave good recommendations! The space had plenty of seating and had cute decorations. The server brought chips and salsa to start. It took a while to get the food, but the portions were huge! I got the huevos rancheros with Al pastor, and my friend got chilaquiles with salsa verde. I was sooo happy with the large potion and how they used hella eggs. The avocado was fresh too. They serve "breakfast/brunch" all day so I was stoked for that. The refried beans with cheese were also good. The food wasn't too greasy at all. The Al pastor was seasoned well and had those sweet chunks of pineapple. I would def go back when I'm in the area!

Garlic Shrimp with salad/avocado (instead of rice/beans). The "Liz Special". This place is excellent. I had this placethree days in a row with their fresh homemade corn tortillas. Back I live two doors away. Love the food, love the cooks, love the staff. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere with lLatino music and interesting wall decor. You feel like family in this place. Muy, Muy bien!!! Excellente!!!

    Birria stew is amazing!

Birria was just as amazing as the service. A hidden gem in the city for sure! Definitely will be back

Food was amazing, we got the croquetas, asado mixto, guacho, papas, and ceviche. The steak was tender and everything was well seasoned. Solid across the board. I would recommend requesting for one of their tables instead. The restaurant has very dim lighting, but you can still appreciate the beautiful interior/decor. The servers are extremely nice and gave great descriptions + recommendations. We ordered the ceviche de pescado, artichoke, pulpo, croquetas, roasted cauliflower, yuca fries, Ojo de bife - ribeye steak, Bife con papas, and gaucho. The ceviche was everyone's favorite appetizer, with fried corn was unique and balanced out the acidity of the ceviche. The yuca fries and cauliflower were basic dishes that I wouldn't order again for the price. The artichoke was a bit of a disappointment as it was more difficult to eat than expected. The char on the artichoke was a bit too overpowering as well. The main dishes were great! All the beef was done to perfection and melted in your mouth. The fries that come with the bife con papas were extremely flavorful and had a good crisp that made it very addicting. For dessert, we ordered the churros, apples crostata, and chocolate cake. The churros themselves were average, but the side caramel and chocolate sauces were surprisingly not overly sweet. The chocolate cake was decadent and moist -- would recommend if you like a dense cake. The apples crostata had great flavor from the apples and the sweetness from the apples were nice with the ice cream on top. Personally, I would just get the chocolate cake again.

Stopped by after the farmer's market - and Cholita Linda's seemed like a great spot to try. The line was a bit hefty even at 2pm, but the sandwiches looked so good! We went with the baja fish taco and asado (Peruvian roast beef) sandwich with a strawberry agua fresca. Water is self-serve, and you get the buzzer thing to notify you of your food. I loved the sandwich so much - bread was tasty, meat was juicy and delicious, and I just mowed it down. I honestly wanted a papito too because steak and plantains sounds so good too - but stuck with asado and no regrets there too. (There'll be a next time right? :)) Absolutely would come back here despite the options available at the Ferry Building - wish there was a closer location in the Peninsula :)

I was in the area with friends and we needed something that was quick with no fuss about seating…read moreand waiting. None of us had been here before but a quick Yelp search led us to this place. I got two baja fish tacos and a bottle of Sprite. My total came up to $14.01. The pricing is fair and actually much cheaper than other food establishments, especially in SF. The tacos were good, the fish was fresh and crispy. The batter was perfect. The salsa mixed with the crema, in my opinion helped to seal the flavor of the tacos. I filled up with the two tacos. I know that I will come back to get some more fish tacos in the future. But, also curious and wanting to try their carnitas. Next time for sure. We chose to sit outside to take advantage of the gorgeous weather California, well that the Bay Area is experiencing. It was unseasonably warm for a "winter" day in SF. The views are great, but be careful of the wandering seagulls lol. They love to eat at Cholita Linda too! :) We came on a Friday during lunch and it was relatively busy but we were able to place our order, get a buzzer and pick up our food quickly. The great thing about eating here is that you can take a stroll around the Ferry Building, window shop and maybe get some dessert as well in the other shops. Not to say that Cholita Linda doesn't offer dessert, they do, but I was stuffed and couldnt have a bite of anything else. Staff was super friendly and the place was clean. Loved the colors and the overall vibe of the location. My friends loved their food too. Girls lunch....success!!

When we arrived the place was pretty empty, and the server was eager to help us. We put in our order to go and waited. But it does not end there, since we were waiting in the restaurant, the server brought us not only chips and salsa, but a few welcome drinks as well which were delicious. It was so kind of her to do that even if we were ordering to go. The food was also absolutely incredible. The tacos are $6 which originally shocked me, but once I got the taco I understood. They were very large, filled to the brim with rice and protein. I could barely get through one and a half. The tortilla is homemade and you can taste the quality. I got the Mole and Chicken Salsa and they were both so juicy, flavorful, and well seasoned. My other friends got the Poc Chuc (a classic pork dish) which got rave reviews. So excited to come back here and try more of the menu.
