Food: I took my first bite of the queso birria taco and immediately went "WOW"! These birria tacos are incredible!!! So good and packed with flavor! I ordered two regular birria, one queso birria, and consume to try them out. I highly recommend each thing I tried. The consume was honestly an added bonus because the meat is so beautifully marinated. I really liked the queso taco, but the cheese is definitely not needed. Prices and Service: The prices were solid. The birria are $3 each and birria with queso is $3.50. Well worth the price. The serving sizes were pretty large. The service was speedy. I got my food hot and ready a few mins after ordering.

First time trying La Tunita and WOW!!! Best Birria con queso taco I've had! And it pairs perfectly with consume. They recently added al pastor to the menu; however, when we arrived around 4:30pm on a Saturday they were sold out. Lesson learned to try earlier next time! We recently visited Los Angeles and tried consume for the first time at Carnitas el Momo, and have been craving it since. We're so lucky to have found a place in Austin that serves delicious consume (and tacos)!!! Definitely worth the drive South for these tacos and consume!

FYI this place has renamed themselves and can now be found under Palo Seco 512. Rest assured it is still the same delicious menu and is located at the same spot. I have been to this food truck several times because it truly is that good. The birria tacos and grilled cheese are a 10/10 must for me. The grilled cheese is perfectly toasted and SO cheesy. Highly recommend picking up for a quick yet amazing lunch!

I saw this food truck on Yelp walking distance from my hotel and thought "so many 5 star reviews" so I thought I'd give it a try! it was so good! First I ordered the birria taco with consume and meat for dipping -- it was so delicious (and I had leftover consume) so I decided to get the queso taco too. I was shocked to find out that the queso taco also had meat in it but it was so delicious! When I went to Austin years ago I was not that impressed with the Mexican food here but this spot changed my tune -- certainly better than any taco places in Chicago (where I'm from). They take card. They have no drinks but there is a convenience store next store that you can buy them at. They have picnic tables for sitting.

    New trailer!

First, they were amazing. Then, they were sold out a lot. Then their trailer closed around June -- by August, I was worried they were closed forever! But... I was still following their IG page. THEN, I found a new birria truck closer to my house that makes super tasty birria, and had resigned myself to the horrible possibility that my original love (LT512) was another casualty of the pandemic... THENNNN today, I saw a "new" birria spot in my IG feed, called "PALO SECO"... unfamiliar name, but the photos looked vaguely familiar. I clicked to their page and found the same social media feed as the previous La Tunita 512, same address and all! So I took my hangry booty over there & ordered my classic faves (birria/ queso tacos) & added on a birria grilled cheese since I hadn't had one there before! ...but the birria tacos weren't the same as I've grown accustomed... It wasn't brothy, shredded brisket like before. What changed & WHY?!? Weirdly enough, the grilled cheese DID have the traditional shredded brisket I'd been expecting on my tacos. Mmmm & Hmm. Long story short, I'd love for the owners to update their Yelp business name listing to match IG once more, and tell their loving patrons more about their menu changes. TBH, prior to their re-brand, I thought they had the best birria in town... But now, I've had better elsewhere, and I'm a lil disheartened & shook that the GOAT changed their recipes... It's still pretty good, but it's not what I remember or have epic cravings for anymore...

    Pretty large tacos

Almost passed this up while looking for it! It was on the side of a gas station. There were a couple of tables available to sit down (without umbrellas for shade). They accept credit card, Apple Pay and cash. I ordered birria and queso tacos. Both meat had a ton of flavor but was on the drier side. Also, a small complaint were the dried limes given - not a single drop of juice. The tacos were almost as large as my (small-medium) hands. I preferred the queso taco bc the cheese helped balance the dryness. Eating both tacos was way heavier and denser than I'd imagine. Overall, wasn't too bad but not the best I've had.

One of the easiest five stars I've given! Probably could try anything on the menu and you'd be happy .. definitely try the birria tacos.. both the mulitas and quesadillas were amazing, too. They all are incredibly flavorful and you will not be disappointed! The ramen was good, just don't expect quality noodles (more like top ramen noodles). But, with the broth and meat they add, it tastes good. Adding some lime of your own definitely helps! If you're in Austin absolutely give this place a try! Of note it's a food truck at a gas station ;)

Best Birria tacos I've ever had. Everything is perfect and customer service is great. The staff is so sweet. I love the consome here, highly recommend.

I was expecting these birria tacos to be amazing based on the Yelp rating; however, they were still just very basic, in my opinion. Also, I was expecting them to come with cheese, but I guess the "queso taco" is what you need to order if you want the birria with cheese in it. This is a good place to get a quick and average birria taco, but don't set your expectations too high.

Delicioso! You are missing out if you haven't tried their tacos. Traditional Birria Tacos that are so flavorful. The dipping broth takes the taco to the next level. I could eat them everyday! The queso tacos are also tasty and unique. Who doesn't like fried cheese with meat inside folded and put in a corn tortilla like a baby swaddle? I'll also give a shout out to their green and red sauce. Both pack some heat but don't take away from being able to taste your food. Order online. They have a few tables spaced out if you want to eat onsite. They sell out so don't wait all day!

As I am still on the hunt to find the best tacos in Austin, La Tunita 512, came across my search as it was close to one of my work locations. La Tunita 512, is a food truck, right along side a gas station. It's a nice & quaint area. They have patio tables & shaded seating! I ordered three of their Queso birria tacos & consume, with extra onions & cilantro on the tacos and in the consume. I spent around $13 dollars total without the tip. Unless they have different togo packaging in the future, this is an eatery you'd have a better time eating there rather than taking it togo. They placed the tacos in a taco plate & wrapped it in a plastic film to cover it. This wasn't a huge problem, but I was eating on the go and the plate wasn't substantial enough to hold the tacos. This resulted in the plate semi-falling apart. These were BIG birrira tacos. They are the size birrira tacos that I'm used to receiving back home in California. I added their red salsa and lime to the first taco and took a dip into the consume... WOAH was all I could say. The first bite was quite literally an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I was not expecting it to be that juicy (this IS a good thing). I was also surprised by how crispy the tacos shells stayed! I was driving for about 20 minutes before I could actually park and eat the tacos. La Tunita 512 definitely has some of the best, If not the best birrira tacos that I've had since I moved to texas. Do not let this establishment be left unseen! I'll be stopping by here often since it's so close to work!

Outside of the small food truck. It has some seating area but I'd encourage you to take it to go only.

This place has the best birria tacos in ATX hands down. I'm from LA and I grew up eating birria or having it during special occasions like weddings, family parties or quinceañeras. This place did not disappoint. The consome (beef broth the birria is cooked in) is perfectly seasoned and flavored and has an ever so slight spicy kick. I've been looking for birria spots in Austin since I moved 6yrs ago and I'm thankful they're slowly starting to pop up in Austin. The guy cooking started making them last year out of beef. This is a little hidden gem! We bought birria tacos, consome w/birria & mulitas (quesadilla with both corn tortillas dipped in the birria oil/consome with generous cheese and birria beef).

    Ramen ($8)- 2.5/5 stars

On the Austin Eater 38 list (as of Feb 2022). 4-4.5 stars, but rounding up for the best tacos I've tried in the Austin area so far (I'm also a visitor, so take this comment with a grain of salt!). They were BUSY on a Saturday, and it was about a 30 minute wait around 1:50pm. La Tunita 152 is a stationary food truck located in the corner of a gas station with the Food Mart. Their menu is short and succinct, with a focus on birria. There was a short line to place our order, but a few groups of people were already waiting for their food. We ended up trying: -Mulita ($4), Quesabirria ($2.50), Queso Taco ($3), Al Pastor Taco, Consommé ($2) [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Ha--Uc4NnoDpfnRKfhKdJg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]: The queso taco was my favorite out of all the dishes, and it was basically a quesabirria with extra melty cheese inside- highly recommended! The mulita was my next favorite, and the cheese was also plentiful. I'd recommend ordering their consommé to dip your birria tacos into and help cut some of the grease- I liked the slight spice in it. The quesabirria and al pastor tacos were good, although not as good as their queso taco or mulita; however, I did like the pineapple in the al pastor. Everything was extremely greasy/oily, but in a flavorful and delicious way. I wouldn't recommend dining here if you're looking for healthy food. -Ramen ($8, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=lCqmyTqxewTndK-rQ3ANLA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Not my favorite dish, since it was way too salty for my preference. The noodles were also too thick/chewy- skip! I would come back for their queso taco, mulita, and consommé. There were a few tables set up if you want to dine there, but they weren't the cleanest. A lot of customers brought their own trays and/or ate in their cars. All staff were wearing masks correctly from what I could see. Parking can be challenging, but there are some spots on the semi-grassy patch in front of the food truck as well to the side of the gas station.

    Finally here on time!
