a man ordering food from a food truck
    Anthony M.

I'm from out of town and I told my friend to take me to a good taco spot for breakfast. We ordered Bacon, egg, cheese/chorizo, egg, cheese/ and On the fly tacos all on a corn tortilla and a side order of rice. All were very good but my favorite was On the fly( cheese, bacon, beans, and avocado) The green salsa is so good. They have a large menu I wish I could have order more food. Trippy taco is a good truck located outside a convenience store. They have a few tables outside you can sit and eat. The cooks did a great job making the tacos great service. I suggest you call your order in as it gets pretty busy. I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

I love this place! Breakfast tacos in Austin have gotten so expensive- everywhere I go now I feel like they are $4.25-$5 to get a breakfast taco. All breakfast tacos at Trippy Taco are under $4, most around $3-3.25 and are great. My personal favorite is the On The Fly. I come grab breakfast tacos from here at least once a week. Super easy, fast, cheap, good quality, great free side sauces. Highly recommend!

Oh definitely definitely skip the long line across the street and come here for the chilaquiles taco. I used to think that I needed my breakfast tacos to have eggs, but Trippy has me tripping so hard for their chilaquiles taco. The flavor is great but the thing that I fell in love with was the texture--the incredible crunch that the tortilla strips retain despite being simmered. Absolutely wonderful. One star docked because the egg-based breakfast tacos were just a slight letdown. The eggs are cooked on the harder side so that means that the ingredients just sit next to one another rather than melding together more cohesively. And the steak was on the chewy side.

A bit disappointed with the breakfast taco. Ordered bacon, egg, and cheese. Eggs were overcooked to my liking. Cheese was very sparse, would have been the same with out cheese. Amount of bacon was so-so. In all, it was average stop. See photo. Cheers.

Don't judge a book by its cover. This place actually gives Veracruz a run for its money. Different style of taco but fantastic flavors (I've liked the migas, pastor, potato egg chorizo, bacon egg cheese, beef fajita). Great flour tortillas and that chipotle mayo salsa is fantasti

If you're in the neighborhood, skip the popular spot across the street and get yourself some legit tacos from the sweet old lady in the food truck. It's nothing glamorous, as you're on the edge of a gas station parking lot. But when you're sinking your teeth into tacos like these, the surroundings kind of melt away into the background anyhow. Highly recommend their Trippy Taco and Crispy Avocado Taco, and don't skip the sauces.

Totally recommended that lately looks like they're making their tortillas really thin and they fall apart.

Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind"…read moremenu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup.

5 Stars - So Good, Worth the Hype…read more We finally tried Cuantos Tacos and wow... it absolutely lived up to the hype. Food: The tacos were incredible--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the quality right away. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the tortillas tasted fresh and authentic. We tried a few different tacos and honestly didn't have a single miss. Simple menu, but done really, really well. Service: Service was friendly and efficient. Even with a line, things moved quickly and the staff were welcoming and patient. You can tell they know what they're doing and take pride in the food. Ambiance: It has that fun Austin food-truck vibe--casual, lively, and a little busy, but in a good way. It feels like one of those places locals love and keep coming back to. Overall: Easy five stars. Amazing tacos, great service, and a cool atmosphere. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to again and again.

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.
