we left there extremely disappointed on the quality of food and the service. I do want to give credit for the appetizers we had the fried calamari and the grilled artichokes wish were very good. We also had the escargot and they were overcooked. Out of six people only one dinner was edible, the short ribs. I'll start with veal al sudo, described on the menu as jumbo crab meat arugula topped with veal medallion, sounds great right? What we received a plate Frozen vegetable carrots and broccoli amount of mashed potatoes and on top really bad looking veal, see picture,. One of the other dish was ziti arrabiata, how can you screw that up all it is is red tomato sauce with red pepper flakes,right? Well what we got instead was pasta swimming in a red sauce with chopped up peppers chicken and then on top melted mozzarella, the sauce tasted like it was burnt at the bottom and they scraped the pan, not edible. Now how can you screw up a margarita pizza? After all fresh tomatoes fresh mozzarella and basil, right? No, heart as a rock crust regular melted cheese on top, droplets of some kind of tomato sauce overly spiced and no fresh mozzarella, I asked for arugula on top, and that was the only good part of my pizza was the arugula. You would think that a restaurant that wants return clientele would make it right credit you for the food that you did not eat that they took back into the kitchen, but no they decided to only credit 1 margherita pizza out of five meals that were not edible. When I questioned are waitress crediting us for the rest she did not answer me she looked at me and walked away. We left and will not return. normally I always give a restaurant a second chance when they make the effort to make the customer happy, but not this time. Not sure if they have a new cook or possibly going through hard times. They gave us free dessert to take with us as we were leaving thinking that would make up for the bill that we paid for all the uneaten food that was not edible. read more

Food: Absolutely delicious! We have shrimp cocktails for our appetizers and the shrimp was fresh- cocktails sauce amazing. For entrees we ordered Pesto Linguine & Chicken Arrabbbiata. Both Phenomenal. (The bread & olive oil was super yummy too) Service: Donte was great! Very attentive, welcoming & helpful. Ambience: We decided to sit outside- very enjoyable. You can still hear some music while outside & the sidewalk is wide enough to not feel overwhelmed by people walking by constantly. 10/10 would recommend dining here. read more

We had a nice dinner here. Really friendly service froma clearly family owned place. Inside vibe is OK - a little sterile with the floor and lights. Wish we sat in the bar area. Very generous portions, food is rich. We had a good meal with lots of leftovers. They are very accomodating to requests to modify the menu. read more

Dined here on Christmas Eve with family. We had a reservation and it was packed. We waited in the entrance area and then moved over to the bar area because it was so crowded. Once seated, we placed our orders for drinks. One of the drinks ordered were a martini and it was brought out in a wine glass? My husband told the waiter we ordered a martini and he said sorry they were out of glasses. We decided to order appetizers and our server said he needed to place our dinner orders at the same time as the appetizers. We were given paper menus but the tables next to ours had actual menus as well? We decided on the Fried Calamari, Roasted Artichokes and the Burrata. For dinner we ordered the Tortellini and the Bronzino. The appetizers were just okay, however, we really enjoyed the Tortellini and the Bronzino - both were delicious. We saw other tables getting baskets of bread but we never got any. Our drinks were not good, and the service was not great. I know this was Christmas Eve but it was disappointing. read more

Family meal out on a cold winters day. I'll start with the good: service, rolls and a nice fireplace to warm up to. But thats about it. Worst chicken piccata ever experienced...Chewy chicken, poor sauce for sure. No capers. Sauce was thick and starchy. Eggplant and chicken parm was meh. Quality was so so. Red sauce was pretty good. My wife had the beet salad, it was low quality everything. They subbed arugula for lettuce mix. Walnuts were heavily coated in sugar brittle. But my 10 year did like his bruschetta. The atmosphere is a bit more bar-like than fine dining. There is a big menu which makes some people happy because there are a lot of choices. But people like me say you cant have all that on the menu and have it all come out the best. Ordered the mussels appetizer and they were good! The bread they give you with the meal is good for mopping up the generous sauce. It was delightful! The main course was the risotto. Which to be honest was a bit salty. Delightful lunch today at La Verona, where we were cheerfully greeted and received a table next to the window to view State Street. Our server was friendly, kind, and attentive, while we had Italian-style dishes. My grilled chicken was spot on with grilled flavour and the bread nicely seasoned with herbs and oil. Dipping bread and oil was a great appetizer, and one of the few times I went for bread, as it was both soft and warm. We'll have to check out dinner next time! read more

I have been to La Verona serveral times and had an incredible experience but unfortunately dining out is not the way to go with this reaturant! We should have known from the beginning that things were not going to go well. When calling in our order, the person ended the call by just hanging up. They did not tell us the price or how long until the order would be ready. With over eight of us ordering, we had quite a selection, but overall the takeout was underwhelming. The biggest take away was the bruschetta portion. We were shocked to see only three small crostini's come with the bruschetta. I'm hoping this was just a bad take out experience and not an overall experience! read more

First and last time I will be at this establishment. I would like to start the review by saying I work in the service industry. I ordered the turkey wrap as a sandwich and they put pesto on it, which it does not come with. I am allergic to nuts and started to eat the sandwich. My mom noticed thankfully and we were informed that the pesto did in fact have nuts in it. I was remade a sandwich but nothing was comped, discounted, and nobody came to our table to speak to us about the matter. In addition to this, we waited an excessive amount of time for a sandwich and two salads, two servers and four tables while I was there. The girl at the hostess cared more than our server did. Fantastic dining spot with a great location and a delicious menu. The location is right on the busy main drag of Kennett Square, and includes a number of great shops, cafés, and other places worthy of spending a few hours strolling around. We love coming here for date nights and we particularly enjoy the chicken dishes. This includes the chicken piccata, and the chicken marsala, both of which are served with a delectable, sip-worthy sauce. The steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes on the side, complement both dishes amazingly. For an appetizer, we highly recommend the lobster bisque and/or the fried mozzarella. The prices are competitive, and we find the food is just as enjoyable, if not better, than pricier options in the area. The servers here are incredibly nice and attentive. We never went more than a few minutes without someone checking on us. The ambience is cozy and laid-back during non-peak hours, but gets a bit livelier and louder during peak times. We made reservations directly from their website. We arrived on time only to be told they did not have us listed. We showed them our confirmation and they just told us we don't have you on the list. They were not apologetic in the least bit. We traveled 30 minutes to get there which was a complete waste of our time. There were apparently others there having the same issue. read more

We loved our experience at La Verona. The meal and service were great. We'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, and hope to visit again. Our experience did not have the best start, but that was quickly forgotten. We reserved through Open Table, and the email from them said parking was across the street but really it was about a block away around the corner. After we finally found the garage, we arrived at the restaurant and the host seemed overwhelmed and wasn't the most friendly. I assume they might be short staffed, and it seemed to be a busy night. Once we got to our table, everything was wonderful. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and enthusiastic. He explained the specials with great style and energy. The timing of our courses was perfect, it wasn't slow but we never felt rushed. We started with the Artichoke appetizer, and I could not recommend this enough. We loved the artichokes and the way they were prepared, and were impressed by everything else that accompanied them. For dinner, I had linguini frutti di mare which was excellent, and my fiancé had the chicken parm which was very good as well. My fiancé did order a salad which was forgotten and left on our bill, but our waiter took care of that quickly and with apologies. Finally for dessert, another highlight in a meal full of highlights, we had the tiramisu and the lemoncello dessert. Both were spectacular. We also had a nice cup of coffee, and I appreciated that our waiter took special care to make sure my coffee was the decaf I ordered. Stopped by here while visiting in charming Kennett Square. The fried mozzarella was the best I've had in a long time and the limoncello martini was a nice touch. Food was also delicious although the presentation of the veal saltimbocca was very messy and unattractive. The veggies on the side looked overcooked but were delicious and the veal dish itself was excellent. Just need to beef up the presentation. All around very good experience! read more

I made rezo's for this restaurant for dinner after spending the day at Longwood Gardens Christmas. We were about an hour early but they were able to seat us immediately. Luckily, we got a table next to the fireplace to help shake off the Winter chill we were feeling from being outside all day. Our waiter was great. I wish I could remember his name. He was very attentive but not overbearing, knew the menu very well, and was super friendly. The dinner was amazing. We had several apps, salad, and then our main courses, a fantastic veal chop and lobster ravioli with crab meat and little neck clams, then desert. Overall the dinner & service was great. My rating is not based off the food but the service. I called to make a reservation on August 12th 2025 at 6:28 pm, for the following week thursday. When I asked the person who I spoke with they told me if it was for two people they can squeeze me in no problem. I said okay perfect. I knew it was going to be a busy day that day due to kennett offering outside dining that day. Third thursday. I called Aug 18th around 5 pm, spoke with Sam ( who I believe is the owner or manager). When I spoke with him I started by saying I was calling about a reservation and how I had called previously and the person who i spoke with told me I could do a walk in no problem, I told him how I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct info due to me knowing it was going to be a busy day and I really wanted to eat here. Well... He started to immediately raise his voice at me and told me how no one who works there would ever tell me that and that I was wrong and plus they are already booked that day. I responded and said okay well someone I spoke with told me that information I have on my history calls the time I called previously and that i could provide that information to him so he could figure out who told me this ( not understanding why he felt like he needed to yell I was not asking to be squeezed in just trying to make a reservation) . He then continued to yell and tell me that he did not care or need this information that what time did I want to go. I told him it did not matter and to book me whenever they had time. He proceeded to yell and tell me he did not understand and to slow down for my information. At this point I did not want to even book solely because if this was the service that was given making a reservation I can only imagine the service there while dining. I understand how stressful it can be but also kindness is free. I was so excited to try this restaurant but after this experience will not try or recommend, if you do go,make sure to ask for names because if you call again they'll act like you made a whole story up. read more

I have been wanting to visit La Verona for years! I'm so glad I finally had the chance to because everything was amazing, from the service to the food. We started out with the burrata and the tomato bruschetta. Both were delicious! For my entree, I got the crab cakes with veggies and risotto. Everything on the place was tasty and fresh. Probably some of the best crab cakes I've had. They use good quality crab with no filler. Everyone usually says you gotta go to Maryland to get good crab cakes, but La Verona proves them wrong. Dessert was so much better than I anticipated. Especially the chocolate cake. Seriously some of the best cake I've had in my entire life. It's so good that I want it to be my wedding cake lol! Lots to like about La Verona, but it's not consistent, and is slightly overpriced. My kid got fried mozzarella, which was a 5"x7" slab of fried cheese--not sure why I was expecting something less slab like? I got a shrimp and avocado salad. 5 questionably cooked shrimp, and half a mini avocado on half a small head of romaine. It wouldn't have been a problem for $15 or less, but nowhere near worth $26. The food took a super long time to come, but we weren't in a hurry and there was a memorial lunch in the other room, so that didn't bother us, but might be important as part of your consideration. read more

I have dined at La Verona many times and recently I ordered the baked lasagna. It was the worse lasagna ever. There was no texture almost like they put the lasagna in a food processor which resulted in an Italian mush. I recommend La Verona remove the lasagna from the menu. My ten year old granddaughter could do better. read more

First time visiting, was impressed! Not too fancy of a restaurant, in fact the tables are plain, no tablecloths, but very busy (on a Friday night) so I figured the food must be good. Baked scallops were amazing, the spaghetti and meatballs (four very large meatballs and a mountain of spaghetti!) were good but way too much food, there must have been enough to feed 4 adults! Even being busy the service was surprisingly quick, drinks, food, and desert were all served fast! Outstanding service despite what some other reviews indicate. Lastly, the tiramisu was the best I've ever had, highly recommend. The only suggestion I would have for the owners would be add lobster ravioli to the menu! read more

This is a Italian restaurant located in downtown Kennett Square. It's in a very nice location. We ate on the side away from the bar and it was quiet. The waiter we had was very attentive and I thought quite good. I ordered lasagna which turned out to be absolutely awful. It bore no resemblance to Italian lasagna. It was a cheesy mess that had perhaps somewhere in it had a bit of meat. To be fair to the restaurant, this is not uncommon in Italian restaurants in the United States and I suppose what Americans think lasagna should be. However, the waiter handled this beautifully. I really couldn't eat it. I asked for it to be sent back. Then I ordered veal marsala which was absolutely superb. What made it so good was not only that the the veal itself was wonderful, which it was. However, the broccoli that accompanied it was also excellent. This is not something that I typically see in restaurants where broccoli is usually overcooked. I cannot recommend this restaurant too highly. read more

Had lunch there today, with some friends from out of town. It was noon, they had just opened, and shortly we were greeted by our server. He took our drink orders and returned quickly with them. We order our food, and I'm only reviewing my food! I ordered the chicken parmigiana, and when it came, the chicken was gigantic, and it was laid over a serving of spaghetti. The chicken was very good, cooked well, and tender! Now, the pasta was a different story. It was watery, and apparently not drained well. There was a puddle of water, and the pasta was almost pink in color, instead of a robust red sauce, it was a watery grave! Went here on a whim and because the other restaurant we wanted to go to was booked up already. Our waiter practically ignored us the entire time and I had to be extremely obvious in getting his attention to request a new fork (one of the sets was dirty), for refills on our waters, and to order more drinks. When we ordered our first round of drinks he left before we could add an appetizer and the end of the meal he flatly said "do you want anything else" instead of offering us a dessert menu. The food was okay. We ordered the grilled octopus appetizer (flavor was so-so), the grilled artichoke appetizer, gnocchi, the truffle risotto, the chicken (they brought veal) marsala, and the chicken parmesan. The risotto was too heavy I. The truffle and needed more salt and parmesan. The gnocchi was good. The marsala was incorrect and not all that amazing. Overall the experience wasn't very good and I probably won't be back. read more

We had an amazing dinner! We enjoyed the chicken parmesan and the lobster ravioli with seafood special, and the cranberry mule was delicious. Even the complimentary bread was so crunchy and fluffy, don't forget to dip it in the oil mixture it is served with. The servings are wonderful and so was the service.
