After a trip to Longwood Gardens we stopped here for dinner. The waitress was excellent and the food was excellent. I'll be back.

Ate here for lunch with some family the other day. It was a chilly Saturday at lunch time and we wanted to see the renovations. It looks very nice inside- I feel like the dining room is a little cold - no carpet- everything very clean and colorful, but , it needs a lot of people in the room to make it feel warmer. We sat in the bar area , same theme but a bit more inviting, the bar is nice and you have the windows that look out on the street. We all ordered wine or a cocktail. The cocktails were good- although the server/bartender/waitress didn't seem very sure of herself. We started with the mushroom gratin - a delicious mushroom and cheese bake that was delicious. They served bread with delicious dipping oil. Refills were not a problem. For my entree I ordered the Veal Parm . It was very good, but I should have been prepared for how large the serving was. My husband was happy to eat the leftovers! My niece got lasagna- another giant portion that was delicious. My sister in law got Eggplant parm that she really enjoyed. La Verona is a solid choice- would go any time! read more

My first impression on walking in was that it smelled like a dive bar on Sunday morning. The place smelled like a sour mop. Turned me off almost immediately. And unfortunately the smell stayed for our entire stay. We were a party of 10, the service was good. Appetizers a dinners came out about how I expected. They were also very willing to customize the dinners to the desires of our party. The food was average at best, our party had several appetizers including stuffed zucchini blossoms, fried cheese, and bruschetta. All looked good and everyone enjoyed them. The dinners were meh... I had the lasagne and the meat had a burnt taste and the serving size was small for the price. Our party also had the chicken Parm and that was huge. Others in our party also had ravioli and the fish and several other entrees. Everyone seemed to think there meals were ok. Did I have a bad experience? No, but I wouldn't call it a good experience either. Expensive for the quality and if I am going to pay that much I would prefer not to have to smell a sour mop while eating. This was my first time here and will try it at least one more time before totally writing it off. read more

Server was nice BUT she served me a bottle of sparklung water that had a huge chunk of glass chipped off the top of the bottle. I didn't notice it until I poured a glass (she had already poured the first glass) when I brought it to her attention she said, oh it didn't get in the bottle or your glass! Never again will I go back there! What else are they doing that they think is excusable? I asked her would she have liked me pouring a glass of anything for her that came from a huge chipped bottle?! read more

Excellent casual and intimate restaurant in the renovated area of downtown Kennett square. Serving Northern Italian inspired dishes. Fairly extensive menu. Great service and reasonable prices. Everything we tried was excellent, including the veal parmesan, veal saltimbocca and veal marsala. We'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

It isn't big and when we arrived we were told it's by reservation only. However, they decided to let us sit at the back private dining room which is quiet and nice. The service was great and all dishes were tasty. I also liked the complementary bread too. The pizza was fresh made and crispy and the mushroom soup was delicious. read more

A frequent favorite today is my second visit to La Verona and as I should have done last visit, this visit I'm getting up and leaving as the service is non-existent. Walked inside, no one @ host stand, no bartender, waiter sitting at table surfing on His screen, looks at me, gets up and goes back in the kitchen. Waitress is at a two-top next to Main Street windows. I walk outside knowing that someone will see me and come out. Sat for 15 minutes and nothing. Bottom-line: if Sam (the GM/Owner) is not present the service here comes to a grinding halt. The same young man that darted off into the kitchen instead of inquiring as to how He could help me I dealt with last visit and well...yeah... zero interest in serving or wanting to help me spend my money. Yea, it's a Monday sand yeah, you may think it's slow but guess what, you are losing business! Y'all need to get focused and have a heart to heart with your servers. Came to La Verona with a friend after visiting Longwood Gardens. We came on a Wednesday (12/18) and the place had a nice size crowd for a weekday. There's a bar with TV's to watch sports and seating for dining on the opposite side. I picked La Verona because of the great reviews on Yelp and they didn't disappoint. Our waitress Barbara was excellent. She came often to the table to make sure are glasses were full and to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. We started out with two glasses of wine, warm rolls to follow with a olive oil mix with pepper flakes and shaved parmesan Our apps were mushroom soup and grilled octopus. For our entrées we had pan seared scallops w/risotto and vegetables. Spinach and mushroom ravioli, w/fresh basil and plum tomato sauce. Its great Italian restaurant. Food was good, service not so much. We didn't have a reservation, last minute change of plans, and were seated in a separate room in the very back like we had a disease. Servers didn't seem to like it back there very much either and told us how it's the only room not renovated. So, if you go, start by making a reservation, perhaps you'll have a better experience. This was my first time at this restaurant and I will definitely recommend it. My experience was excellent from before I entered until I left. While hunting for quarters to feed the meter, a young woman past by and offered quarters. It turns out she was to be our waitress...Charlotte. I can't say enough good things about how pleasant and efficient she was. There were 6 ladies at the table and she took care of each of us respectfully. A big shout out to Charlotte! Great job! The food was excellent also. I had the veal Parmesan.. I think it was the best I've ever had. The sauce was excellent. We saved room for dessert ( split it 3 ways). Again excellent. We live in northern Delaware and I wondered why we were driving to Kennett Square for lunch...now I know. It is well worth the drive. Decided to go here at the last minute. I hadn't been since it has been La Verona. It was nicely busy, we sat on high tops in the bar. My friend and i had a glass of wine. Nice reds and very well priced. We saw an arugula beet salad and it was huge. We decided to split the salad and the eggplant parm. The server, Stacy was warm and very helpful. She split the salad and the eggplant in the kitchen and that was a nice touch. She was attentive and nice. The food was great! I've been going to La Verona for a couple of years. The food was always great. Tonight I found some discrepancies. I got veal parmigiana. It tasted like the frozen kind that restaurants buy. I also got their meatballs which I always loved. Tonight they tasted like they removed the beef completely. So I was tasting a light version of a meatball with pork and some veal. I'm really disappointed. I don't think I'll go back again. Oh yeah, If you don't like Joe Biden, don't go to La Verona. Safe pandemic practice, great atmosphere, wonderful service, and a meal specially made for a vegan. We ate inside a heated bubble that was cozy on a cold day. Limoncello martini and Montupulciano were so good. The braised short ribs, mashed potatoes and vegetables were delicious. The salad beautiful and fresh, vegan meal made upon request which was fresh, comforting, and delicious! The service accommodating, knowledgeable, and attentive. Let me start by saying that I LOVED my meal here, and would probably give this place 4-stars based only what I ordered. However, I'm taking all of the things I tried into consideration, as well as how my party felt when they left. The first thing that we ordered were cocktails. I got the peach one, and my mom got the "it's always sunny" lemon one. Mine was absolutely delicious, and hers was disgusting. The cocktail menu said that her drink had this and that liquor along with "lemon lime soda." We assumed this meant Sprite or something comparable, but as soon as we took the first sip it was quite apparent that they meant soda water, which has a very distinct, and in my opinion, disgusting taste. No one at the table (there were 4 of us) liked that cocktail, so I bit the bullet, chugged it down, and then chased it with the yummy peach cocktail. For my appetizer I ordered the roasted artichokes, which was, hands down, the right choice. My mom got the beet salad and my husband got the octopus, both of which I was unimpressed with. The octopus was cooked like garbage...extremely tough and rubbery, and they included the little tiny octopus bodies with their little suction cups, which I hated. My artichokes, though, were divine. The mozzarella cheese and olives that came with them were so delicious and they threw some prosciutto on there, too. I ate my entire appetizer right up. For my meal I got the eggplant parmesan, which was cooked SO WELL. The eggplant was perfectly fried and topped with lots of fresh cheese, the pasta was properly al dente, and the red sauce was impeccable. I truly loved this dish, and it was so big that I had leftovers for lunch the next day. My mother got the shrimp scampi as her entree, and she let me try some. Boy, oh boy, was it garlic-y! I mean, I know that's how it's supposed to be, so it's a good thing, but I was still blown away when I had a bite. My husband ordered the lobster ravioli special and wasn't that impressed. For double the cost of our other entrees, I think he felt a bit let down. The serving size was also about half of what the other dishes were. For dessert my mom got the profiteroles and I got the chocolate gelato. I was not impressed with either dessert and if I could do it again I think I would have skipped it entirely. Also, who the FRICK puts CANDIED FRUIT into their cannolis?? A cannoli should have filling and chocolate chips. THAT'S IT! Don't put garbage fruit in my damn cannoli. As for the non-food aspects of this place...the restaurant is huge, they have TONS of liquors and cocktails, and the bathrooms are nice. The service left a bit to be desired, as our server didn't know how to pronounce the specials and wasn't good on refilling drinks, even after we asked for them. Overall, this place was a solid choice for a meal before Longwood! read more

Good Italian restaurant! However very basic, we started our dinner off with two of the cocktails "Fruit Explosion" & "Pineapple Upside Down" WARNING: Super strong! More like all alcohol in the glass, if I wanted that I'd order a straight shot. Barely drank the drinks and opted for a Twisted Tea (which I was pleasantly surprised they served) and a Stella. Food we ordered the fried calamari (was not impressed with the creamy orange sauce on top, not your traditional calamari), Veal Piccata & Chicken Marsala which were both pretty good!! First time diners at La Verona, I really wanted to like this place given we are relatively new to the area and like to support local businesses. I ordered the Veal Al Sudo which is supposed to be veal, arugula and crab meat. What I got was veal, arugula and mashed potatoes with maybe a tablespoon of crab meat and I am probably being generous with the crab meat portion. My wife got the veal parm with spaghetti which was ok except for the pasta which was dry and did not appear to be fresh. read more

We planned on a nice day to visit a local attraction, and one of us researched eateries beforehand and decided to try La Verona. It was just OK, but not good, and certainly not what one wants when out for a special day. The food was a little better than OK, and the portions were generous. We expected a salad with our entrees, but there was none. The wines-by-the-glass list was paltry, with just run-of-the-mill offerings. The tables didn't have placemats, so our plate slid. The server was very nice, but distracted, and forgot our appetizer and didn't check on us until we were almost finished our meal. We will not return and do not recommend La Verona. read more

We enjoyed another amazing meal at Verona last night. Both appetizers, the escargot and the grilled octopus were delicious. We ate them up so heartily I was afraid I wouldn't have room for the main courses, but they were absolutely amazing - the shrimp scampi and the fish special - a burrata piccata. I only wish we didn't live over an hour's drive away. Love this place. The service was terrific too. They were extremely busy so reservations are recommended, however you can also eat at the beautiful carved wooden bar. Highly highly recommended! read more

My husband and I were in Kennett Square for my MIL birthday, so we had the great luck to have New Years Eve dinner at La Verona. All I can say is that every detail of the evening was amazing. The welcoming ambiance, the wine, the starters, the entree...everything was first rate. My artichoke starter was so delicious, I couldn't have believed my scallop entree could have been even better. It was busy because it was NYE, but our server was so attentive and the food came out hot and delicious. I can't wait to come back some day and enjoy this absolute gem in lovely Kennett Square. My husband and I had dinner here new years day and it was incredible. The fact that they were open was awesome, not all restaurants are January 1. Our server was so accommodating and friendly, he figured out how to make me hot chocolate even though it wasn't on the menu. I had chicken parm with the best *ever* broccoli rabe. I have had broccoli rabe dozens of places in my life and this was just miraculous. So good. Also, the chocolate cake I had for dessert was absurdly delicious.
