This review is more for me than it is for you. I had wanted to try the Detroit style pizza here for some time. Tonight I finally did, and can say with confidence that for me, the juice was not worth the squeeze. The pizza itself is incredibly small, a square 9x9 personal pan pizza. Typically Detroit pizzas are larger rectangles. It also isn't as thick as other Detroit style pizzas, more like a focaccia. The sauce is on top, I'll give credit where it's due. The sauce is good, the toppings are good. Except the ricotta, which is weirdly stiff and obviously piped from a bag The order was ready on time and the staff were friendly. The building was cool, the neighborhood less so. I did not feel safe parking my car in a normal spot so I parked in a red zone closer to the door. I will never be back. read more

i already wrote a 10/10 review for this place before but i just went back and its really my #1 pizza spot. the regular pizza is very good but the detroit style pizza is truly the best pizza i've ever had. HOWEVER!! i wish i could have it more often, but this place is pretty pricey. AND A MAJOR ISSUE for me is that their hours change up right under your nose.... as i'm ordering. they would have my business way more if there were set hours. i will be back! read more

What a wonderful hidden gem!!! I've passed this spot several times. It always caught my eye & I remembered the name. After doing our laundry at the laundromat my son & I were looking for a spot to eat. This popped up on yelp & I remembered wanting to try their pizza. Parking can be a challenge but trust me it's worth it. It is a very small cool spot. It gave me a garage party type vibe. With the turntables & vinyl records I felt transported back to the 90s. My son & I ordered one of the specials large 2 topping for $20. There were a few tables and we sat & devoured the whole pizza ourselves. Which really isn't a challenge for us we like to share pizza. Jerry was so friendly. We had a nice conversation & we both felt so welcomed. I can't wait to go back. It's hard to find a good $20 pizza that is actually good & made with love. Decided to celebrate Pi Day by getting takeout pizza pi(e) from LA Waterfront Pizza. We had seen this new spot pop up on Yelp and gave it a shot. Husband called in the order and picked it up about 30min later. The Spicy Honey Detroit was really good! I loved the whipped ricotta on top. Pizza is really good, owner and wife are very nice always go out of there way to make you feel comfortable and always checking up on folks to see if they need anything. I recently took my kids to eat there, we sat outside while the sun was still out. My girls loved it, it was a new experience for them. These girls hardly eat so when they both ate about 3-4 slices of the thin Crust it made me happy. If your looking for a good thin crust come try ot out you won't be disappointed, I've also tried there Detroit style pizza and it's really good as well. Wow! This is absolute gem of a pizza place in the San Pedro! If you're into deep dish Detroit style pizza you gotta check this place out. They have one of my favorite pizzas of all time! To start off they actually use a huge wood fire outdoor oven to cook all their pizzas and that already puts a good aroma out into the air. Then the actual pizza is full of flavor! I'll preface this by saying I got their pizza delivered so did not eat it fresh--yet, I have no complaints! I can't speak to what the restaurant is like in-person unfortunately but the food has definitely made me want to go try it fresh. I was looking to try a new pizza place and LA Waterfront popped up local to me. They had some pretty yummy looking flavors and whipped up personal-size Detroit pizza so I gave it a shot. Firstly, the Spicy Honey detroit pizza was delicious--it had a great balance of flavor and big (cute, swirly) dollops of Ricotta on top to add an additional texture to the doughy yet crispy crusts. I've had plenty of Detroit pizza from other places and this place hits all the checkmarks. The dough was a bit less tall/fluffy than others I've tried but they still capture the right feeling and have the crispy cheese on the crust that really makes detroit style what it's known for. This might not have been intentional, but the honey seemed to also coat the bottom of the pizza which made for a really interesting "caramelized" texture at the bottom. We also got a build your own small pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. The crust was nice and thin--exactly what you expect from artisan, woodfired pizza. It held up really well and was the right balance between crispy and chewy (it held up the fold test!). The sauce was just flavorful enough to stand out. I'd say a small pizza could definitely feed a single hungry adult, or be enough for two slightly-hungry adults. The detroit pizza comes in 4 slices and could definitely be 2 meals for an adult too, but I don't blame you if you want to finish the whole thing! Overally really quality pies here. Definitely will be back to try some of their other flavors. read more

Found this hidden gem in my area and decided to go and try it out. They have two main types of pizza. The Detroit style and a thin slice. I ended up getting the thin crust which was amazing and was crispy. It's a small place with street parking which was hard to find even past the dinner crowd. They do have outdoor seating. This place is a neighborhood gem. Jerry and the gang have created a lovely space for a lot of the young people in the area. We actually saw an "ask a punk" hardcore show there and it was so much fun! (Yes, we were the oldest ones there)... and the pizza is freaking delicious. The hot honey is so flavorful (with ham too!) and works with the Detroit or thin crust. Have you ever had a pizza where the crust is so tough that it causes your jaw to cramp up? Well, if not, you're in luck! This is, by far, the toughest pizza I've ever attempted to eat. It's literally like eating a pizza made from leather. And not worn leather either! Fresh off the line, stiff as a board leather. I got the BBQ Chicken Pizza and I'm used to having fresh cilantro on top from other places. Here they use Serrano peppers which gives the pizza a very jolting hit of spice. Especially the next day when the peppers have a chance to release all of their oil. But, it's simply too little on top to save this. The BBQ sauce was the best part of the entire pizza. Just a handful of chicken pieces, a smattering of onions, and the deadly Serrano pepper slices and a very small amount of cheese. Over charged and under delivered. I've gotten pizza from L.A. Waterfront Pizza and have been impressed both times. I have been searching for a true margherita pizza and this place makes it! The sauce is awesome - it's flavorful and not sweet; the crust is thin and perfect; and the pizza has just the right amount of cheese. Their Detroit spicy honey pizza is also amazing. The crust is extra thick, crunchy on the corners, and the spice level is just perfect, and while honey may sound weird on a pizza, it's perfect. The ricotta cheese is piped on the top and is a great touch too since it looks like a little flower of deliciousness. I highly recommend their pizza. read more

The good: - The crust tasted great (the parts that weren't burnt) - I liked that I was able to order online - It was delivered within the timeframe promised The bad: - It was borderline burnt - The sauce was not good; both the taste and the texture felt off - I ordered a medium, but it was very small, like to the point that I'm not even sure that it actually was a medium - It said on the website that if you ordered direct from them, you'd save fees, but there was still a $6.45 fee which doesn't really feel like a savings We only ate about half of it and tossed the rest. Make sure to follow them on IG @lawaterfrontpizza for the latest news and hours. I got their Honey Ricotta Pizza with Arrabbiata sauce & Pepperoni. It's not on the menu but I remembered having this the first time I had their pizza. They had some thick crust available, so I ordered it that way. I like their thin crust as well but for this pizza, I wanted the thick crust. Pizza had good flavor and barely got through part of my 2nd piece. Definitely will be back. read more

I did call the restaurant a few weeks prior to ordering to see if they accepted cash for delivery orders, and it sounds as though they mostly do delivery via the apps. No biggie, if it's that big of a deal I could always do carry out. The person I spoke to on the phone - pretty sure it was the owner - was super chill & friendly. Exactly the kind of dude you'd want running your neighborhood pizza place. This time I ordered through their website, which was delivered by ubereats. Pro tip: order direct from their website, and you can get coupons, rewards points, and save on the delivery fees from the apps. But ok I know yall want to hear about the pizza itself. It was delicious. Got a regular pepperoni and one of the Detroit style pizzas with pepperoni also. Both were really good. I love a thicker pan style crust & theirs is perfectly chewy. I was able to put in a note asking for light sauce which they did with no problems. Definitely going to be my new go-to pizza place. Prices are totally reasonable and the pizza is delicious. This review is based on delivery, it did not eat on site and I did not pick up the pizza. I had it delivered. There's a couple of reasons I ordered from this place, one it's local to me and I wanted to support them, two they had really good reviews, and three I was excited to see they had Detroit style pizza which I don't believe I've seen anywhere else around here. The pizza was very flavorful, the crust nice and thick but not what I'm used to for Detroit style. And that's why I gave it four stars instead of five. The pizza was a little too light and buttery. I know it sounds silly but I like my crust dense. Delivery service was good. I would definitely order from this place again specially since they're so close to me delivery is quick. read more
