Hadn't been here in a while, but I was in the San Pedro area today, and I decided to order my usual--the two slice special (comes with a salad and a canned drink: Coke, Sprite, Brisk Tea, Sparkling Water, or a bottle of water). The special is now $13.85, comes out to $15.15 with tax. Tis a bargain in this economy--although who wouldn't reminisce about the days when this special was around $7-8. My slice of pepperoni pizza, and the anchovy slice, coupled with the blue cheese dressing (on the side) salad hit the spot. Oh and I forgot to mention the excellent service: my car was parked out front with my dog in it, so the cashier said he would bring my food out to my car when it was ready. Thank you!! read more

There aren't a lot of New York style pizzas in town. I prefer this style over deep dish or thick crust just so that it's not so bready. I don't know what it is. Whenever I order pizza by the slice, it's good; but when I order the whole pie, it's not as crispy. I like I bit of crisp to the edges because then it's a bit easier to fold and eat. I feel like it also tastes better. They have several pizza by the slice combos that are fairly priced. It's cash only and the customer service is usually pretty good so I'm not going to complain. We live in Orange County, and my husband is a longshoreman in San Pedro. He came home one day with a sandwich from this deli, and honestly, it was probably the best sandwich I've ever tasted! We ended up driving all the way back just to get another one because it was that good. The bread is baked fresh right here in the deli, and you can absolutely taste the difference soft, warm, and perfectly crusty on the outside. It was worth every mile of the drive. Just a heads-up: they only accept cash, so make sure you stop by the ATM first. Highly recommend if you appreciate a truly great sandwich! read more

Bonello's Pizza is definitely the best pizza spot in San Pedro! It's honestly some of the best pizza I've ever had -- and I've lived in Italy and New Jersey, so I know good pizza. The crust is perfect, the sauce is delicious, and the flavor is exactly what you want. We usually get it to go, but the place itself has that small, old-school vibe -- even a little candy machine the kids love when we do eat there. And their tuna sub? The best I've ever had. I've had the Bonello's up in Torrance (honestly have no idea if they're related!) But finally had a chance to try the Pedro one. I would've preferred a medium size but they only had small and large. Got a large pepperoni and black olive pizza and this is a delicious and solid NY style pizza. They do get pretty busy so order before you're hungry!! Definitely will be coming back here. I bought a special pizza passing over 30 some dollars for it. It's got very good toppings. There's only thing wrong. It's way too salty. And the crust is soggy and bit crispy as thin crust pizza ought to be. I don't mind the price but the salt was way too much and the crust was soggy. Dominos pizza for under 10 bucks tastes better. We think we found our new pizza spot! The pizza is cheesy, the crust is crisp, & the sauce is flavorful. Prices are decent as well. This is our second time coming & the second experience was just as good as the first. The gentlemen who work there are personable and kind. Honestly they deserve 5 stars! Greeted upon arrival, so much to choose from on the menu. So many options from pizza pasta and sandwiches oh and salad! So many topping options and Can I just say it's nice to be able to get a slice of pizza sometimes when you don't want a whole one. I will say it is a small space but there are about 5 tables. Let's get down to the order- Pepperoni Happy Roll Torpedo Pepperoni slice Cute little spot and very clean, you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. Be advised it is CASH ONLY, but don't let that stop you from trying the amazing food and come prepared. Parking behind building. I was overall so satisfied with the taste and quality of each piece, even the salad was so fresh and the cheese was so delicious and can taste it was some good premium cheese from the size of the pieces. The happy roll truly makes you the happiest it's just that good and the dough is perfection. It is huge and can def be shared if your appetite isn't so big. Good classic pepperoni pizza. The torpedo was just so good with all the flavors combined perfectly I can't even describe it just order it! Order it all like me to try a little of everything, you truly won't be disappointed. We Ordered takeout. Got one small pepperoni pizza and one small barbecue chicken pizza with a house salad. The pizzas were pretty good. The salad was just lettuce and cheese but honestly, I should know better than to order salad at a pizza place. The absolute best pizza on the West Coast. My family and I have been going to this Bonellos for many years and have always loved the consistency of great ingredients over the years. The pizza is always fresh and the service is always great. They make the orders with great quality and it shows every time I order one even to this day after going for over 20 years. Even though we have moved over the years away from San Pedro, we still find ourselves returning just for the pizza. OK, very good thin sliced pizza The place is usually in a rush. Push you in and push you out no restrooms to wash your hands. Sometimes they'll let you use it most of the time they don't. Plan to take it home unless you bring your own hand sanitizer and eat it there not very cool at all.
