Visited LaChance Winery in DeSoto for the first time today. Really nice grounds with plenty of tables and chairs with decent shade trees. Weather was beautiful. 2 Pedros played from 1-4 under the tent and we sat out on the lawn and could hear them great. Really enjoyed the music, atmosphere, and wine. They had a pretty nice sandwich and wrap lunch menu and also allowed food to be brought in as well. They charge $12 for a tasting and did let us try one wine for free since we weren't familiar with their wines and were going to buy a couple during the afternoon. I wish they had descriptions of their wines on the wine list and would tell you what grapes were used as well, since they are named things like Old Depot and you have no idea what the wines are. I thought the wines were a little too expensive but since they let you bring food in I guess it balances out. Most of the wines were over $25 a bottle, but we enjoyed the ones we had! read more

Great venue with a fantastic sunset view, beautiful grounds and buildings. Service was okay, slow but courteous. This visit was our first and probably last to the establishment. They have some very good wines, we ordered the Margherita pizza and artichoke dip. The pizza had proved cheese which doesn't compliment mozzarella at all. Artichoke dip had no garlic and was extremely bland. The band however is what ruined it for us. They weren't a "great" band, and that's okay, but they went from classic rock to 4 original songs of Christian rock. Not what we were looking for at all. I get enough radical religious dogma crammed down my throat with family and billboards, I sure as hell don't need to go listen to why I should celebrate Christianity at a winery. Overall I would say that LaChance has some great wines and views, but the food and music leaves me regretting our visit. read more

This winery has a lot of potential if it was under new ownership / management. Our group spent a significant amount of money on a very slow Thursday (lots of rain and limited amount of people). A majority of the workers seemed very annoyed and inconvinced that we were there. When the rain stopped we tried walking around outside with a glass of wine (from our multiple bottles we bought) but we were not allowed to leave inside with our wine glasses we had to dump our wine in a plastic cups to walk around the grounds (we have been to a lot of wineries and this has never been an issue anywhere else). Also, they have advertisement for a wine club at their bar, on their tables, and website that includes 50% off a meal during your birthday month, discount on wine bottles, a free tasting, etc. It was my mom's 61st birthday celebration and they said they do not honor any of the wine club discounts, even though they advertise them everywhere. I would highly highly highly recommend going to Vila or Wild Sun for a much better overall experience. However, the grounds are very pretty! I will try this winery again soon and will update my review if I have a better experience. read more

On this fine Friday evening, we sought a little weekending respite from the toils of our labors, finding ourselves in the nicely tucked away gem of Jefferson County, La Chance Vineyards. Having never been here before, we weren't troubled with any challenges finding the place at all. Parking at the location was ample when we pulled in but noticed that people seemed to filter in at a pretty steady pace after we arrived. Passing through the gates of the vineyard commons, the expanse opened into a scattered but smartly situated arrangement of umbrella-covered picnic benches and leisurely pairings of wooden Adirondack chairs. Toward the fields of vines, stands a large tent style structure with enough seating for large groupings of guests; toward the opposing end is an inviting tasting room/cafe. We were excited to learn that a local band, Sweetwater Holler, were set to play tonight. They are exceptional, churning out classic covers for hits spanning a variety of genres from country to rock. We've heard them before and definitely elevate the mood anytime they play. Looking at the bill of scheduled events, it appears the vineyard regularly recruits a whole array of talent to play for their patrons. For our tasting pleasure this evening, we decided to partake in a bottle of their 2020 vignoles. The wine was a wonderfully crisp indulgence with a classic floral semisweet taste and a slightly tart finish. We also sampled some of the strawberry sangria and it was perfectly refreshing on this muggy evening. A great place for a relaxing refresh and hosting a party. We really enjoyed it and plan to return. read more

LaChance is a fabulous place in a beautiful setting with wine that is actually quite good! The dry whites and reds are where I spent my time but I did end up bringing home some of their desert wine, La Trop, as well. There is ample room to spread out with lots of spaced tables and seating. We brought our own picnic basket but apparently the sandwiches and other simple food choices are good as well. And, the sunset was fabulous. There was also a great classic rock band cranking out great tunes. read more

This is a great little winery. We went to the LaChance Winery located Desoto, the other one is in Kimmswick. They are set up superbly for the social distancing and their wines were pretty tasty. Fortunately for me they were out of the Chambercine wine and I enjoyed one of their other blends that were good. Good food too and the service is outstanding. They have music and plenty of parking. We enjoyed our fall day outside in mild weather listening to music, celebrating life, and enjoying some wine and eats. Go there. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a very nice little winery pretty much in the middle of nowhere, south of Hillsboro. The staff was friendly and helpful and surprise!!...the wines were all pretty good. It won't make me forget about my last trip to Napa or anything but we were pretty impressed. The owners built up a pretty nice facility, which I thin would be excellent for an event especially. Wow, what a great experience. We were on the American Duchess, and were a bit doubtful about a vine tour. We are from the Temecula vine valley and have done multiple vine tours! Give LaChance a try. Situated in Jefferson County, this winery features several lovely, shaded outdoor seating areas. They also have a large tent for special occasions. The wine is made using the grapes from their vineyards and ranges from an oaky Norton to your sweet whites. They name their wines based on elements from the vineyard and property. Like Covered Bridge and Lucky Duck. The Vignole was my favorite. Very crisp, not too sweet, not too dry. Live music on weekends, you can also bring in your own food or buy theirs. Huge grassy area with covered tent and music! There was wine tasting 5 for $7 and you get to keep the glass. Fried pickles were amazing, by far the yummiest thing in the menu. I don't think outside food or drink is allowed but we had some cake to celebrate a birthday and it was all good. Covered bridge is an easy drinking semi sweet white wine. We visited LaChance while there was live music under the spacious tent and although very hot in the sun under that tent was quite comfortable. Wine tasting offered up a couple of new favorites. They also serve bottled beer. They had a delicious peach sangria that was not too sweet. The venue was clean and the staff was friendly. We plan to go back. It was fairly easy to find. We went south from St Louis on highway 21, right on highway Y to Peter Moore. Turn left and LaChance is on the right. **A good sign on highway 21 would be helpful. read more

Lots of birthday parties, a few 20s parties, Halloween parties and other fun events... the owner is often around and chats with patrons and the staff is amazing. Before last night, I had never actually had dinner here. Let me say, it did NOT disappoint! The food... oh my... so good! Our waiter, Hayden, was amazing. He was attentive, gave great suggestions for things that weren't on the menu and provided a few complimentary items. We weren't there for anything other than dinner and it turned out very romantic thanks to Hayden's extra steps! If you haven't been here for dinner, you're missing out. Not great, bad experience at brunch! Out of things, not enough seating, waited forever in way over their heads!

This was hands down some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The owner was rude, and insulting. We booked the winery for my daughters couples shower in January for April 1st at 6pm. We had several telephone conversations with staff pertaining to what we could and could not do, bring or use during our event. The owner stated he never gave permission for our catered food, photo booth or to move into the building if it was too cold that day. The venue & staff were not ready or prepared to have us there (no sides on the tent, no outdoor heaters or tables set-up) the owner was angry and accused us of lying about what his staff had communicated, and appeared to be intoxicated. When I refused to speak to him further due to the disdainful & rude way in which he was speaking to us and directed him to speak with the maid of honor he threatened to call the police and have me kicked out. Needless to say I will never return or give my business to this establishment again. We were deeply disappointment by the treatment and behavior of the owner and staff. read more

Wines are ok, atmosphere nice. Not thrilled that I got charged $3.00 for a wax covered cardboard bucket to keep my wine chilled in. Less thrilled when during my last visit, I happened to have a bucket to use, and they still charged me $3.00......FOR ICE!!! How chintzy on their part. There are a lot more wineries around that have a little more class with wines even better. Makes me wonder if they won't start renting out tables and chairs to sit at next. Maybe they'll even charge more for the ones in the shade. LOL read more

Our family had a 40th birthday planned and we chose La Chance as a great destination birthday party. Unfortunately, the weather was not as kind. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and efforts to make a rainy day outside under a tent patio the nicest they possibly could. They even attached a large custom made tarp on the upwind side so that we could enjoy our day. We won't be going back! This was our 2nd trip to LaChance. We have enjoyed it and the wine. BUT tonight was the deal breaker! It was my birthday celebration with friends and we bought wine and went to enjoy the band. Going to leave, our wine we purchased to take home, fell through the bag and broke on the concrete. Apparently when they sold us a cold bottle of wine, put it in a paper bag, on a super hot evening, it condensated and tore the bag, so when my husband picked it up by the handles, it fell through and broke. He went to speak to the owner, thinking he would understand and do the right thing, but NO, he didn't. He blamed my husband for sitting it on a wet table. hmmm. why would our clean table be wet? It wasn't. I looked, just wondering if it had been. It wasn't. He refused to replace our wine or Money. We told him, please don't treat us this way, we are good customers, he didn't care. AT ALL. He watched us walk away, all of us, without even a glance. I don't know about you, but I would rather do business with ethical people every day of the week, then weasels that don't care. We don't NEED them and we Don't NEED baseball. We will tell ALL our Wine loving friends. Such a shame. read more
