Cooks don't care. They cooks clearly use drugs and couldn't care less about their jobs, they dont even have a heat lamp in the window where your food comes out. They were out of the 4 appetizers we wanted (wings, chicken tenders, boneless wings, and garlic bombs) so we ordered entreees. The garlic knots are seemingly leftover pieces of dough with no flavor. The burger that should have been med well came out rare with blood pouring out of it. The fries were totally cold and there were literally 10 fries total. We sent it back right away. The penne carbonara was such a small serving I could have eaten 2 plates but at least was hot. I had to wait 15 min AFTER I finished for my boyfriend to even get his meal and then sit there and wait for him to eat after he had to watch me eat for 40 min. My margarita was fizzy? And my boyfriend subbed blue cheese on his burger and didn't think it tasted like it and upon reading the receipt it wasn't subbed for blue cheese. We weren't asked if we wanted more drinks- or even water until a half hour after we finished our drinks and were ready to leave now that he finally got his burger! By far, hands down, BEST BURGER IVE EVER HAD. Got the Bacon and Bleu burger and it was cooked perfectly. Fries were awesome. Service was awesome. This was our first trip here, as we are from Ohio. The staff was extremely friendly, all of them said hello to us as we were walking to our table. The decor is awesome, so much to look at. I ordered the special, which was a bbq pulled pork panini with coleslaw and swiss cheese. It was good, but very soggy. When I would pick it up, it just kinda flopped over. What a surprise! Went to visit our son at Norwich University a wanted to find a new place to try. The old firehouse decor was really cool. Had our 2 teenage girls with us as well. A very thick and extensive menu. I had a hard time choosing. We started off having an Albi pizza as an appetizer. Being from New York this was put to the test. The flavor was really good but I'm sorry New York Pizza still is number one. 3 of us had different types of hamburgers and they were all really good. Our one daughter had a tasty salad with chicken and our other daughter had the open roast beef. Our waitress Pam was extremely friendly and helpful. We went for dinner on a Saturday night. Had to wait a while to be seated. They were out of a lot of appetizers. We ordered the Nachos for an appetizer and it didn't have any cheese sauce or salsa on it, just a few black olives, pico and shredded cheese...and the cheese wasn't melted. We were hungry so we ate it, hoping our dinner would be better...unfortunately it wasn't. I ordered the lasagna and my boyfriend ordered the chicken broccoli alfredo. The lasagna barely had any layers of noodles, was really just sauce and cheese. My boyfriends alfredo didn't have any sauce on it and instead of fettuccini noodles, had angel hair. We asked for sauce and that took another 20min to get. We decided to skip dessert and just call it a night. Trying to get the waitresses attention for the bill took forever. We could see her talking to another table, I was holding my hand up hoping she'd see me, but she just ignored us. She never made eye contact with us the entire time she waited on us, like we were a nuisance for her. We were there a total time of 2 hrs and it ate away at our night. Such a waste of time and money. Horrible service, horrible food and horrible decor. Forgot to mention that, the decor is tacky, and ridiculous. They should keep it themed towards the firehouse, not Halloween. And if you're going to do Halloween, less is more people. Not every inch of that restaurant needs to have Halloween garb strewn all over it, making stupid noises and cackling above our head. Not a place I'd bring my mother, not a place I'll go to again. C'mon owners, you can do better. read more

This place is quite unique. An old firehouse made into a restaurant.. The decor is true to form, and it's fun to look at historical fire department pictures while dining. The 12" pizza and sweet potato fries were enough for me and my boyfriend, and the waitresses were very friendly. The wood-fire oven style really made this worth the stop! My only tip is to make sure you know where the park. Their parking is located in the back, and as a tourist in the area it was a little unsettling not knowing where to go. But definitely recommend for a chill environment with wonderful food! read more

Went there for dinner on a Friday night. The food was pretty good. I got a Bacon Blue Burger and it was cooked to my specs and was pretty good. My wife had the beef stew which was a large portion and was also pretty good. My problem is where we were seated. It was a very busy night because of the parents weekend at a local college. The hostess suggested that we sit at the bar since there was open seats. Well the bar is not your normal bar. It was completely cluttered with stuff and the cash out station for all the servers was right there on top of the bar. So during the whole meal there was a line of waitresses standing in front of us waiting to cash out their checks. The bar was also sized wrong so your knees are against the side of the bar but you are not even over the bar yet. Overall the dinner was OK. Being a Firefighter it was pretty cool to see all the local Fire memorabilia. We would definitely try this place again on a not so busy night. read more

We go in and say we would like some menus for takeout, they hand us menu's and even point out that have a bench for us to sit at while we decide on our order and to go to register when we are ready to order. Me and my kid go sit and pick out several items off the menu over several minutes, getting excited for all the offerings. Get to register and the lady with the Karen haircut says "Nope, we are only doing Pizza and Calzone's for takeout right now". They could have set that expectation when they handed us the menu. I came here for dinner and had the spinach and artichoke dip and the fish and chips. My spinach and artichoke dip was okay. It came out with a lot fewer chips than the dip but my server offered more chips. My fish and chips was soggy. The batter on the fish was soggy and the fries were soggy. This is our go-to for dinner out. The atmosphere is beautiful, and there is live music on Thursdays. In the summer, there are three patio areas as well. Most of the staff are wonderful and very friendly. I've yet to order anything I didn't like. My recommendations are fried pickles, roast beef quesadilla w homemade horseradish ranch, or the roast beef sandwich. I've also heard rave reviews about the burgers. Kids meals come w a cup of Hood ice cream or an ice cream sandwich (if you get the super awesome wait-staff, they'll even put it on a plate w chocolate/caramel sauce and whipped cream!) There's an extensive gluten free section, but it's pricey. The one area of disappointment for me is their desserts. Nothing is made in house and all taste like they come frozen and full of preservatives. read more

When we walked into the old station we were very impressed by the decor and vibe. It was homey and comfortable, incorporating firehouse memorabilia throughout the restaurant. I thought the food here was great, especially the steak fries that came with my blt. I ordered the blt and I forgot to order it without mayonese. When it came with mayonese I asked the waitress for another blt and she was so nice about it even though it wasn't her fault. They had live music playing and as a musician myself I found this particular group of musicians rather awful. Their sound was out of tune and I could barely hear the singer. We went here with friends, we called ahead of time and when we got there we still had to wait an extra 20 minutes oh well, it was a busy Friday night. Service was ok, the server was very nice and all, but didnt check on us much. My drink was pretty weak and seemed watered down. When our food came (like i said/it was busy) the portions seemed pretty small for the price. Usually i always need a box, not this time. My meal was alright, nothing to write home about. My friend got sick that night, but i am sure it was from overindulgence jand not the food. So yeah, it was good, not the beat EVER, but pretty ok. We got our drinks in a timely manner, however after 45 minutes waiting for our server to check in and for our food, I went to see how much longer and to order another drink. We were told it was going to be awhile because they were "very busy" even though there were plenty of open tables. After being told another 10-15min, we decided to get the check and leave. Although we were seated promptly, it took well over an hour to get our food. I ordered the swordfish picatta. The portion of swordfish that I received was at least half of a normal serving size. It was completely unseasoned, and with the exception of the puddle of balsamic glaze, the pasta had absolutely no sauce on it. Another person in my party ordered the Don't Kiss Me Garlic Burger, which arrived without any garlic or brie on it, despite the description promising both. The third person in our party ordered the spinach ravioli, which arrived so inedibly hot that it had clearly been prepared in advance and microwaved prior to being served. The martinis that we ordered were made with straight vodka and gin- no vermouth in any of them. We will not be going back. read more

What a surprise. Had Barre VT as a stopover between White Mountains (NH) and Montreal (Canada), and found this great place for dinner. The old fire house from 1904 is now a local restaurant. We were recommended here by an antique dealer from town and am so glad he did. This place was out of this world! I had the Shepard's Pie and have never tasted any other as good. There were several large groups there but the wait time was minimal. A wonderful place to eat. The Old Firestation retains a lot of its history it photos, tributes and memorabilia. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent! We live about 84 miles away, so we don't get here as often as we would like, but if you are headed by either in Barre or going by on the interstate you can't go wrong with a meal here! read more
