It's not a place I would go to often as the prices are on the high side. Laduree is located in Yorkdale mall so you can take a nice little afternoon break from your shopping. We called in advance just in case, but if you're coming in on a weekday for afternoon tea, you won't have too much trouble getting a table. Afternoon tea is $50. As you can see from my pics, you get a good assortment of items for that price. You can also get other items like a club sandwich which is what I ordered. They have a pretty good selection of tea here. It's not as vast as other places I have been to but you won't hard up for variety here. The food items are all pretty well done and presented. My sandwich was presented well, but when you're eating it, it will become a little messy. I like that you don't have to have afternoon tea when you come here even if someone else with you is. Little choice is always a good thing. My main gripe is the price here. I've been to other afternoon teas where I've paid less and got a lot more. The items you get are great, just wish the quantity was a little better. My club sandwich was $20. It did come with a salad but for $20, you hope to get a little more from that. Overall, Laduree will give you a good experience for your afternoon tea. It just won't be a place you go frequently because of the prices. read more

This location is in Yorkdale mall, walking in and trying french macaroons convinced me why people go bonkers for these. The flavours, to mention a few: chocolate, rose, passion fruit, salted caramel, mocha, licorice (yes! Although not always available). The boxes are so pretty and makes a great gift for someone special including yourself! You can get tea service for 2 at a mere $50 which is fantastic: a great selection. K so overpriced? Absolutely. BUT the flavours of the macarons are incredible. I went to the Yorkdale mall location on a Monday night for some tea and macarons. I tried the pistachio macaron, which was delicious. We ordered the camomile tea and it came in a cute silver teapot, and refilled with hot water when we finished it. My friend was jonesing for macarons and treats, so she suggested coming to Ladurée. She absolutely loved the ones she had from Paris, and I'm always down to eat/snack/drink, so away we went! The storefront and interior is beautiful. Upon entering, to the left, there's a bright and colourful display wall and display case. To the right of the store is a small dining area. Everyone working there seemed friendly and polite. My friend said she was disappointed that they had a limited selection. I had to agree, I didn't realize they don't carry everything and was really looking forward to trying some canelés and baba au rhum! I'm not sure if my expectations were set high from all the anticipation my friend had set but I wasn't blown away by the macarons. They had a nice crisp shell but the texture inside seemed off. The filling seemed soggy like it had been sitting out too long. Definitely seemed overpriced for the quality! Sorry for 3 stars, but if I have to be honest it's over priced and I don't like the customers. The place is beautiful and great for selfies and Instagram pics but like a $20 turkey sandwich..no thanks. And the drinks are like 7-10$+ I'm not a fan of macaroons so I didn't try any. I'm going to review this place based on just the macarons. I came on a Sunday morning at 10:00am when nobody was awake enough to go shopping yet. Perfect timing. I only waited a few minutes as the lady told me she wanted to avoid customers blocking the walkway from the sit down area. Finally, I stepped in. Beautiful and totally instaworthy interior decor and atmosphere. Those pink ceilings were poppin' too, I loved the detailing on it. I patiently waited my turn and already decided on which flavors I wanted. I decided on the box of 8 which came up to about 24 bucks. I ordered the coffee, rose,hazelnut,chocolate, salted caramel, pistachio, maple syrup, and raspberry. I've eaten about half of the box so far, and my favorite? The salted caramel. I can tell these macarons were legit and fine quality because as soon as I dug my hand in to grab the coffee macaron, my knuckle slightly touched the rose one and it crumbled a bit making a broken dent. You know what that means? The shell is delicate. Why is that good? Texturally, it is marvelous and it gives it a nice crunch to it. The ganache filling for the salted caramel was very sweet and savory at the same time. The whole darn macaron was just delicious, ok? Let's just leave it at that. I was actually closing my eyes to enjoy the whole thing. I highly recommend coming during really odd hours or unpopular times to avoid line wait ups. We shared one afternoon tea set among the three of us, and ordered two extra pots of tea. Portion-wise it was just enough, sharing-wise it would be easier if we would have ordered two. Single set also didn't come in a 3-tier serving plate. One tea set ($50) comes with a pot of tea, 3 macarons, 2 finger sandwiches, mini Croque-Monsieur, 3 mini pastries, 2 madeleines and fruit salad. Everything was heavenly, and we ordered some more macarons for tasting afterward. We all left full and happy. Tip #1: You could order macarons to-go from the table but it will be added to your bill and you will be paying gratuity for the take-out as well. This Yorkdale Laduree holds well up against the one in New York that I've been to. Food taste and quality are excellent. Unlike the one in NY there's no separation between the buy-and-go and seated area. This means if you are seated, you get that mall food court vibe which takes away from the classiness. I finally got around to writing a review about this amazing place! I first had Laduree macarons years ago when I went to Paris and I'm happy that there's a location at Yorkdale now! This place and Nadege are my favourite macaron places. On opening day last month, my husband lined up to get a box of a dozen macarons and a box of dark chocolates. The line up was about 2 hours that day of course but the line ups have died down a lot since then depending on when you visit. I came here again this past weekend around 12:30pm to buy more macarons and there were only 4 people in front of me at the time - not even 5 minutes wait. Friends of mine came an hour after that and waited about 20 minutes I think. We tried almost all of the macaron flavours available at this location - standouts were the vanilla, pistachio, maple syrup (I heard this one is specifically a Canadian one), coffee and salted caramel in my opinion. I personally wasn't too crazy about the fruitier ones like passionfruit, rose, lemon, orange blossom etc. Laduree's macarons just melt in your mouth (even after 3 days in the fridge according to my brother in law), they have just the right amount of flavour and they're not overwhelmingly sweet. To me, the ones I liked tasted as good as the Laduree macarons in Paris. Each macaron here is $3.30 - it can get expensive when you buy several but it's a nice treat once in a while! Boxes cost extra - I recommend getting them on your first visit for fun and then just get your macarons in paper bags on your next visits. The dark chocolates (thin squares) were also delicious - definitely quality chocolate to go with the macarons and tea! Other thoughts: The store's pink and teal theme is fun and it stands out from the rest of the stores beside it. The store display is so cute with its macaron towers! There are also about 20 seats inside if you want to order in for high tea or for their other treats. The location that I remember visiting on Champs Elysee in Paris had a much larger selection of treats and a nicer way of arranging everything. That being said, I'm just happy to have a location closer to home! "You won't get a box with only 5 macarons," was really my only interaction with an uninterested crusty staff member. With glaring eyes, I felt rushed to make my selection. I've been to Ladurée elsewhere and I do like their macarons but they are pricey. The taste is pretty consistent with their other locations and Rosewater is probably one of my favourites in this chain. The wait wasn't too bad at around 15 minutes on a Saturday. They had an employee managing the line. Overall, it's a Ladurée with mediocre customer service. Pretty French Patisseries anyone? We visited Ladurée in Yorkdale mid-week and later in the evening when the shopping centre is much quieter than usual. The great thing about that was that there was no line-up for a seat in this small, pastel coloured French tea room and macaron boutique. All that pink is overwhelming and you kind of feel like your about to walk into a Parisian perfume shop or a giant decorative tin of fancy flavoured tea you find in Europe and take home as souvenirs. We were seated right away and menus provided. It did feel very French - the servers included and cozy as most tea rooms are. We had dinner earlier and wanted a place to have tea and chill while waiting for our friend to finish work and this seemed like a great spot to check out. We were seated right away and presented with menus. We both ordered the assortment of 5 macrons so we could try different flavours and I had a Madeleine, because, why not? The best part of the food was the tea! We had some really delicious tasting teas! So tasty. I'm not a big fan a macrons and neither was my cousin (we agreed the pistachio was the best. The lemon left a bitter aftertaste). For a small spot they do have a fairly decent sized menu of things to choose from which is quiet nice. I would love to go back and try the brioche, French Toast, croissant and Pain au chocolat (can you tell I love sweet French pastries). This is definitely an Instagram worthy place to for you and your girls (small party of 3 max) to eat macaroons, sip tea and take a selfie. We were happy we were there at the end of the day and it was quieter than usual. Wish they would make more seating by downsizing on the massive wall of macarons! I'm such a macaron freak. It's my all time favourite dessert. So far I have only come across Delysees (See my past review) which have the best macarons I've ever had ever. My friends wanted me to try Laduree so I felt I was obligated to try it out. It's quite pricey at $20 For 6 macarons whereas it's $15 at Delysees. Or if you want a special box all nicely wrapped the cheapest I saw was $30 for 6 including the special box. I got 6 macarons in the flavours of 2 raspberry, 2 pistachios, salted caramel and mint. My favourite of all the flavours was the salted caramel. The raspberry ones have actual raspberry jelly in it. I would say compared to Delysees this was good not amazing. I'm glad I tried it. It tasted fresh and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Final verdict I give it a 3 star since Delysees is still my number one all time favourite with a full 5 star. I went to this place for the first time on July 21st, 2018. I thought the place was extremely cute and chic like I actually was in Paris! I ended up ordering four macarons for $13 plus tax. Even though it's pretty pricey than the average café I think it was worth the price they tasted sweet delicious! I would totally got them in a box if the box wasn't an arm and a leg. The starting price for some of those boxes are $55 or more depending on the size and is actually good to get a box because the desserts are very delicate I think the boxes would be good for like a high price gift but if you're just taking them to go or dining there you really don't need a box, I just ordered the macarons and ate them the same day lol! Personally the boxes should be cheaper my opinion but other than that I would definitely go back if I want to have a little expensive dessert and maybe eventually I will dine there with a friend or my mother I think it would be a cute place to have high tea! I love Laduree. Theres a reason they have been one of the world's most successful macaron makers. They have been around since the late 1800s! When friends and family ask "Is it worth the price?" I say yes. When they ask "Is it worth the wait?" I say no if its over 20 minutes because time is precious... When they ask "Is it really better than all the other cheaper macarons in Toronto" I would say its hard to reply - Everyone has different preferences in their dessert. Some like very very sweet macarons, some like a little chew vs. others like it flaky and soft. Some want to support local small bakers rather than international baking giants. I personally prefer Laduree macarons above all because I like the way the meringue feels in my mouth as I bite in, and I like their balance of sweet in the filling and/or the tart fruit. The macarons are pricey but this is expected from such a revered dessert maker all the way from Paris.... My husband and I went in to have a snack after a day of shopping. It was around 3pm when we checked in at the boutique and the lady let us know she would call us when our table was ready. This was nice because we could continue shopping rather than waiting. We were called to come about 20 minutes later which is 10 minutes sooner they told us it would take. We were seated in the pretty, decorated boutique. The servers came by with printed Laduree paper table cover and Laduree coasters and matching Laduree napkins. Our drink came with Laduree logo stir-sticks. I appreciate these frivolous but pretty, "Fine" touches, it makes the experience that much more special. Its very 'French' in their ways. We ordered brioche french toast and two flavoured teas. The toast came out warm and the raspberry coulis came on the side (the server offered to pour for us but I insisted I pour for instagram) and a side of cream, decorated with a some fresh raspberries. I kid you not this was one of the best french toasts we have ever had in our lives. Maybe we were just really hungry... Maybe it was the Laduree magic... I would definitely come here again to treat ourselves to fine dessert. If you're looking for value in your dessert, this is not the place you should be going. For example, I think Costco macarons taste great for their price and quantity. A lot of my girlfriends have used Costco macarons for wedding favours etc. and for their budget it was a great idea. If I ignore the hustle and bustle of Yorkdale and focus on the beauty of the décor, the delightful aroma, and the gorgeous display of macarons, I'm transported back to Paris when I step foot into Ladurée. This location has all my fave flavours that I usually enjoy when I'm in Paris! I ate a raspberry macaron and it tastes just as wonderful and authentic as the ones I previously ate in Paris. As much as I'd love to be back in Paris, it's great to enjoy a piece of Paris in Toronto ...for a tiny fraction of the price. This is the place that invented macarons and originated in Paris! It's really cool that they finally opened up a store in Toronto because they were in Paris, London, Hong Kong, NYC and a select few other cities. They macarons are as good as you would expect from any top bakery that makes macarons, they taste pretty fresh, with the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The only problem is that they're a bit pricey here at Laduree, costing around $3 per macaron. And if you want the nicer boxes, they will charge you an additional amount and don't really give you a discount when you buy more macarons. I paid $24 for 8. I think in Yorkdale mall they also have a Nadege which tastes very similar to Laduree because they both mastered the technique of macaron making and is slightly cheaper. read more

Honestly so happy that Toronto FINALLY has Laduree!!!!! Every time i'm in Vancouver or NYC i would purposely make a trek to Laduree for their macarons. Crunchy shell with chewy filling. Such a delicate but tasty treat. Came to this yorkdale location 1 month it opened and was pleasantly surprised that there was no line! (we came on a friday night at about 6 pm after the holidays) They have most of the macaron flavours you would get at other Laduree around the world but they do have a special canadian flavour - maple syrup. All macarons are shipped same day from Paris and are sold same day to their customers. A lot of the employees at this Laduree are from the Paris location so they do have a thicker french accent when speaking to you. We also tried their afternoon tea set and it was nice but not worth the price you're paying for. You do however get 3 macarons per person, couple of different pastries, madelines and salty sandwiches. You can also select from a selection of their tea or coffee/hot chocolate. Have been to ladurees in different countries & this one in yorkdale def did not dissapoint in regards to decor/color/atmosphere. Huge hype for this store coming to toronto as its first location. Must say its overpriced but its def worth a one time try. sat in and got the french toast as recommended by bloggers - my mom loved it. The hot chocolate was delicious as well. Service however was 50/50. Some waitresses were nice and attentive. Note that they are extremely busy however there was one particular server who had attitude that i did not appreciate. Their menu is not as extensive as their Paris location. They do however have some ice cream flavours and many macaron flavours to choose from. Came here for afternoon tea. The tea was good, food was mostly good, and service was good. However, it is a busy store in a busy mall so it didn't really feel like afternoon tea. I would recommend La Durée for a cup of tea or coffee and a small bite, but not afternoon tea. If you want a real afternoon experience, go to After Queen in Thornhill or the King Edward hotel. There's also t-buds midtown. The Old Mill Inn is also pretty decent. Anyways, this place doesn't require a reservation and you can just walk in. We (2 people) walked in on a Saturday, early afternoon, and had no problem sitting down. The afternoon tea selection includes 3 macarons of your choice, 2 madeleines with chantilly cream, 3 petits fours, 2 sandwiches of your choice, 3 croque monsieurs, and a little fruit salad. Everything was good except the croque monsieurs, which were just rolled white bread with melted cheese. To be honest, a bit out of place for a fancy Parisian sweet shop. It looked fine, but didn't taste like much. They should replace the croque monsieurs with more sandwiches, and the sandwiches should be cut in half (they come long and are awkward to pick up). It's not a lot of food, especially given the cost. At other tea places, they charge by the person and prepare everything in anticipation of the number of people. Here, the above set for afternoon tea is $50 with one tea of your choosing. You have to tell them how many sets you want, because they don't charge by the person. It's a benefit if you aren't hungry and can share a tower but it can be confusing when you think you're paying $50 per person and they bring out so little food. It's a beautiful shop and I would recommend it for a cup of coffee and a bite, but not more. read more

Had a lovely weekday leisurely afternoon tea. I always get the same black earl grey tea every where I go so I can't give any feedback on other teas, their black tea was fine. The tea sandwiches were tasty, as were the desserts and macarons. I'm usually too full to eat everything at any afternoon tea, and usually bring home a doggy bag of some dessert and scones. But because this is more of a French afternoon tea with no scones, I actually almost finished everything - I did bring home two macarons left over to savour later. I first tried Laduree in Paris and I loved some of the flavors they offered (I really really like their rose macaron), and I knew I had to get it on opening day. It was well worth the wait! The exterior and the interior of this place is lovely. It is well designed and chic. From the outside, you can see their display of lovely sweets. Once you enter, the colors make this place so cheerful. Or maybe because I just really love their macarons and I get so happy when I enter the shop. I can't say this is the ultimate place for macarons in the city since we have other options that offers macarons of similar quality. But Laduree is still a great place overall for desserts. read more

I had the day off and got to the mall super early, and was feeling pretty hungry. I decided to check this place out, as there was zero people inside. There were two girls waiting to seat you inside the cafe/boutique. You can already see how the chairs have gotten stained, and it made it appear very dated. They had a lovely tea menu, with tons of different options. I did enjoy mine but the way the spout was, tons of tea spilled out. I really wanted something small and decided to get the carrot ginger soup. This came with a small French baguette that was warm and crusty. However the soup tasted like baby food, and looked like it, too. I never add black pepper or salt to my food, but I had to this time around to give my soup some taste. I wish I just stuck with the food court or went to restoration hardware. Not worth it for the restaurant portion, but maybe the macarons are worth it. read more

Y'all basics hype everything. Sure, it's great that such a fancy schmancy macaron spot from France is now in Toronto but seriously?? Not worth the wait OR the money. +1 star because it's super fancy looking, with the cute interior and exterior and even the cute little cafe where people can pretend to be bougie. Let's get one thing straight, it's luxurious, sure. -ALL the other stars because: 1. Line is NOT controlled. There's been a line daily since opening day and on boxing day of all days, there were no staff controlling a line. Seriously. My friends wanted to line up, telling me the wait was under 15min on the first few days. The line was not moving, there was not a staff at the door letting people in or not so passerbys slipped in and out, not even noticing the line in the middle, or just ignoring it completely. This made the wait so much longer than it had to be, and it didn't even make sense to wait in a line when ratchets hopped right in without being stopped. We were probably 15th in line, and it took 45 minutes to go in. 2. Staff work very, very slow here. The checkout takes the longest because of an obvious language barrier - words spoken are unclear, and she seems confused for her life. Listen, it's great ya got a real french girl here but does she understand english too? Had to repeat questions/answers several times during checkout time, though she was very sweet about it. 3. Macarons are definitely far from the best I've had. My friends told me they were incomparable to other spots like NaDege, but I beg to differ. The macarons, though fragrant, were ..meh. Mediocre at best and lacked the chewy yet crunchy texture good macarons always have. Flavour reviews (obviously personal taste but here ya go) * orange blossom: 5/10 * lemon 9/10 - by far the best one * passionfruit 8/10 * salted caramel 6/10 - no salted, just caramel * lime vanilla 6/10 * raspberry 3/10 - WAY too sweet * rose petal 7/10 * pistachio 5/10 - expected way more pistachio flavour to this * coffee 3/10 - wayyyy too sweet 4. Price... $$$. They offer desserts over $220 while the spots next door offer luxury wallets/bags for the same. A macaron at $3.30 each is steep but not ridiculous, IF it was worth the taste/flavour ..which imo is not. Or you can essentially buy a fancy and overpriced box that holds 6 macarons for $27-28.. essentially making them $4.50 each. But I'd guess you're paying for a box, which you're probably going to toss after. Or keep as a keepsake, but I've always found that so tacky. I'm not a desserts girl but I know a good macaron when I taste one - I used to be suuuper #basic and have tried many. IMO this was not great and I've had better ones from spots like butter avenue, nadege.. and dare I say it.. even Loblaws. read more
