Oh, my, yes! Five stars plus!!! We were so lucky to have spent a night here in total comfort and luxury. I hadn't been to Pleasanton in many years. The historic Main Street is so pedestrian friendly. Lots of great dining and local retail. We met friends for dinner at Gay Nineties Pizza Co a long-time neighbor on Main Street and an easy walk from The Rose Hotel. We enjoyed a quiet dinner on the patio - cold brews and pizza a favorite combination. Perfect! When you see The Rose Hotel from the street you'd never guess this Victorian looking building is only 20-something years old. Entering this boutique-style lodging/bed & breakfast inn - you'd think it had been there for many decades. Architecturally no detail has been missed. A small bar in the lobby drew us in. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers as we waited for our room. Included with your room, an expanded continental breakfast served in the lobby and bar is a real showstopper. Our deluxe king room was beyond all expectations. Heated floors in the bathroom - now that's a wonderful touch. When we returned from dinner, we found our bed had been turned down, mints on the pillows. soft music playing, curtains drawn - seriously, just like days before COVID! Thank you so much!!! Linens and towels were also sumptuous. A restful night. It was hard to leave and we will definitely be back. Checking out we asked to speak to the General Manager. We wanted to let someone know how thrilled we were. Given all the amenities the price mid-week was amazing. I'm sure like so many other places, weekends and holidays those prices go up. Again, we will definitely plan a return. BTW - John Madden (of football fame) lived in Pleasanton. His son, Mike, built the38-room Victorian-style Rose Hotel. I'd like to personally thank him. Beautiful Boutique Hotel [Pleasanton CA] Stayed here overnight for a two-day business trip. My work took care of my lodging. What a lovely hotel! The lobby was very inviting with festive holiday decor from the ground floor to the hallways upstairs in the rooms. My room was beautiful and the decor was super cute boutique (a la bed-and-breakfast) style. The King bed was soft and comfortable. Slept like a baby. When I got back to my room from our group dinner last night the curtains were drawn, housekeeping turned down the bed for the evening, and there's room slippers next to my bed along with some items on top: balm, ear plugs and a box of gourmet chocolates... soft soothing music was playing on the Bose music system. Let's get it done! The boardroom we occupied was nice and spacious and accommodated our 12-member group very nicely. The conference room also has its own bathroom inside for convenience. Breakfast was served beginning at 6:00a (I think). The hotel is located in Pleasanton's historic district. Plenty of restaurants (ranging from casual to upscale), coffee houses, galleries and unique shops nearby. Although located on busy Main Street it was a peaceful and quiet evening except for the sound of a train horn. Northwest of downtown Pleasanton is a train station (Pleasanton Station). Super impressed with this hotel. The hotel staff was great! Four miles (10-min drive) to the Livermore Premium Outlets (unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go as our dinner ran late). I took my sister here for a weekend getaway. Everything about this place was amazing. The greetings from the moment I walked in, to the beautiful room which had so much attention to detail, and was soo clean. They had fresh plants in the huge room, a fresh rose in a vase, classical music playing when you walk into the room, the most comfortable feather bed topper, black out curtains, jet bathtub, a French press, AC, A cute bar area in the room, complimentary water, slippers, robes (for use while there), breakfast, a lounge and bar open until 11 on Sat., and they left chocolates on our bed when we left for a couple hours. So many dining options with walking distance. We ate next door at Ruby & Roses which was amazing. We Ubered to a floating sound bath in Dublin just a short distance which was soo relaxing, and went to the Sunday farmers market in Livermore on our way out. I would highly recommend this place. It's a bit pricey but so worth it. read more

If you have ever read my post I am very upfront and honest about my reviews so with this being said, The Rose Hotel was AMAZING!!! Pleasanton in general was such a lovely place to visit, so much night life starting from 6-10pm! I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful boutique hotel for three nights and it was as though time stood still with so much elegance. The hotel has so much decorum from the grand staircase to the moment you open the door. Some of the modern touches made it just so much more than other places I have stayed. The room key was next level, it looked like a traditional key but with a chip so you just slide it in like a key but it's electronic. Once you are in, the room is mind blowing with small touches from the signature chocolate to the lip balm, they have it all covered so you don't need to go to CVS for anything, not even q tips LOL The breakfast in the morning was so good, I love oatmeal, yes oatmeal and they have great oatmeal with fresh fruits, lox and an assortment of food. The coffee was excellent as well. The staff, oh my gosh the staff. From the minute you enter, every single person was just so inviting, you could tell they all took pride in making this hotel what it is because the place was immaculate. I came home at 2am and saw someone cleaning the banister and laying out fresh fruit on my floor. Please, please if you get a chance you should book a night and just enjoy the room. Rude, Rude, Rude!! For a local hotel in the Pleasanton community well know to everyone who lives here should have better manners when dealing with people. I called the hotel to speak to Melissa (the manager) and she had no manners on the phone. I had previously stopped in and talked to young man at the desk about possibly taking our Christmas picture in their lobby and he said that he thought that was a great idea and shouldn't be a problem but he said call in the morning to speak to Melissa to confirm. I called and explained my idea and asked if it was ok. She said nothing to me, then put me on hold, came back a few minutes later and said the charge was $100, no questions, no explanations. Are you kidding me? For a family picture that would take about 7 mins you want to charge me $100? Whoever is running this hotel after John Madden died is the worst. John would of never treated anyone like that. He gave my son a a night at his hotel when my son returned from Iraq and he was the nicest, warmest human, caring about people especially those in the community. People like Melissa should be working in a warehouse away from dealing with the public. I will never refer anyone to stay at this hotel, especially under this kind of management. read more

Decided I needed a little staycation and booked this hotel for a one night stay. This hotel did not disappoint! The decorations were gorgeous and I felt like I was transported back in time. They thought of everything! There were bowls of candy and fruit and snacks like granola bars and hot coffee and tea all day in the lobby. Breakfast was delicious! They had lox and cooked salmon, bagel's, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, pastries, cereal, yogurt, OJ and cranberry juice, fresh cut fruit, oh my! The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. There were 2 robes in the closet, umbrella, iron and ironing board, fully stocked desk with stationary, notebook, pens, envelope opener. A side table with a kettle to make hot water for tea or coffee! The bed was my favorite! Bed was super comfy and the sheets felt soo good on my skin that I didn't want to leave. The bathroom was gorgeous as well. Had glass jars filled with cotton rounds and q-tips! Bath tub had bath salts! Toilet area had a table with a matchbook and a candle! I've been coming to The Rose Hotel for over 15 years and it never disappoints. My sisters and I decided to head to California and I said, "Let's spend the night at The Rose,"and we did. They accommodated all 4 of us in a lovely double bed room that was really quite comfy even with 4 people. The bathroom was huge and luxurious. Roomy enough for all of us to get ready in the morning. The breakfast down stairs was perfect. A nice selection of food without being over done. Convenient with healthy choices. Love the oatmeal. A side benefit is you get to workout at the Bay State Club that has everything including 3 pools. We hated to leave but the good coffee and snacks for the road got us prepared for our long drive. read more

What a lovely hotel and hotel experience! It gave us Madonna Inn (in SLO) and Upham hotel (SB) vibes...but maybe even more upscale? The room was large! Perfect size for our family of 4 with lots of space for our toddler to run around! Our room came complete with a fridge/mini bar and there were lots of personalized touches everywhere! They really take care of guests! From friendly, attentive staff to a mini Rose Hotel souvenir box of chocolate on your pillow, to the welcome pamphlet in the lobby listing every guest's name...this hotel knows how to make a guest feel special!--it's more than just complementary breakfast and bathroom toiletries (although they do have both of those things too!). Where the similarities to these other hotels lie are in the details and decor!--vintage looking furniture in the lobby and every room but with way more comfortable beds than their boutique hotel competitors and a spa-like bathroom complete with robes and slippers! I would gladly stay here again! I can't believe I grew up in Danville and missed this! Speaking of breakfast...what a lovely spread! Smoked salmon, fresh berries, precut hard boiled eggs, and so much more make this experience stand out! And I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention it's convenient location in the heart of downtown Pleasanton (right across the street from a family favorite restaurant (Oasis)...guests here have walking access to so many restaurants and shops! read more

The Rose Hotel is a beautiful hotel. The staff is extremely kind , helpful and above all, professional! They go above and beyond to assist with whatever they can. The continental breakfast is well stocked, with much more than a typical continental offers. Our rooms were well appointed with quality linens, and very spacious bathrooms and rooms. We attended a wedding in Pleasanton, and saw many different rooms and they were all lively. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel to both the casual traveler or business person. It is an excellent value especially if you are looking for something different than the typical chain, this is perfect. The town of Pleasanton has many cute shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance, and the ones that we tried were excellent. Local vineyards are a short drive away. read more

The most surprising part was when they gave me the room key and it was an actual key but also included an electronic scan. I stayed here during COVID, and it was SUCH a breath of fresh air. The parking garage has electric charging stations and is well maintained, the employees were the kindest people, and the hotel is just so beautiful and clean. Not to mention, it's across one of my favorite restaurants Oasis. At night, head to the balcony overlooking Main St. for a little champagne and people watching. What an incredible experience. I came for a staycation and stayed for a few nights. I felt as if I had rented myself out the coziest palace tucked away on Main. I'm born and raised here in Pleasanton and have always had a fascination with the place. I had my idea of what the experience would be like but they took it to the next level. The entire staff was so accommodating to all of my needs. They made me feel so comfortable and I tell you if only they did residencies I would be first in line trying to secure myself a spot! Please do not hesitate if you are thinking about renting a room. This place is my new home away from home and you can count on me being a regular. He runs a wonderful hotel and you will not regret your stay Vishakha - So professional and helpful, I am so needy and she made a point to jump through hoops for me. Absolutely love this hotel in downtown Pleasanton CA. We had incredible treatment by every employee we dealt with. They are so hospitable and friendly. The bartender, Danielle was amazing. She even brought popcorn over to us one night when our whole group was sitting in the lobby area living room relaxing after a busy day. She was attentive, professional and friendly. The complementary breakfast was amazing. Great choices: fresh fruit, salmon & capers, other meats, hard boiled eggs, warm oatmeal & fixings, pastries, etc. And an entire Peet's coffee and tea bar that is fully stocked 24 hrs a day. The rooms are gorgeous and they do turn down service with chocolates, a temple balm, and slippers. The bathrooms are huge. The beds are comfy. The hotel is immaculate. Located in beautiful downtown of Pleasanton, California, you can immediately feel the intimate, tight-knit community. When we first drove on Main St., we saw all the camping chairs set up along the sidewalks in preparation of the 2017 Hometown Holiday Parade. We were attending my college roommate's wedding at The Club at Ruby Hill, and read great reviews about The Rose on Yelp and Trip Advisor, and most importantly, the close proximity to the wedding venue. My fiance decided to book a room here for us to stay over the wedding weekend. The Rose Hotel is somewhat what the website claims herself to be, "convenience of a motel, the friendliness of a bed and breakfast, and the luxury of a fine hotel." With all the cozy holiday decorations and lovely Christmas tree, this hotels strives to make your stay feel like you never left home. What we truly appreciate are the ample complimentary parking spaces, with the option of garage parking to shield your vehicle. The hotel also provides generous varieties of snacks and hot/cold beverages for guests. We felt really nice to come back after the wedding celebration to a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows made by the bar staff, Daniella (sp?). Thank you for whipping up two cups of hot goodness for us at night before we returned to our room. In addition, the complimentary breakfast in the morning was also delightful - fruits, pastries, smoked salmon with capers, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, etc...there were lots of food options. We must thank the breakfast staff gentleman on duty 12/3/2017 Sunday morning (I apologetically forgot to catch his name) for diligently attending and restocking the food and clearing the tables. He was so nice and welcoming. Other parts of the hotel that we enjoyed were the jet hot tub with powerful shower heads, fresh rose in our room and the restaurants and shops that were within walking distance to the hotel. The reason why I gave this hotel 3 stars is because for our experience, The Rose just did not meet the convenience and flexibility that we have experience at all other hotels we stayed, not just in the U.S., but around the world. For the $260/night stay, there were times that I felt we had to walk on egg shells. Let me explain why: We flew in Saturday morning from San Diego and arrived at The Rose around lunch time. We had explained to the front desk staff, I believe Darryl (sp?) was on duty, if we could check-in early before 3pm so that I could prepare, put on make-up, and my fiance and I could get ready for our friend's wedding which starts at 3pm. Darryl immediately called housekeeping and asked if there were any rooms vacant from the previous night, which housekeeping replied yes. However, because of hotel policy, we were charged $99 for early check-in. Because we were caught in a difficult situation where we wanted to make it to the wedding on time, we agreed to pay the extra fee just to check-in a room that was already vacant and required no cleaning. Though we understand hotel staff was following hotel policy, we have never been charged an early check-in fee at hotels...in our lives! Just to name some examples, when we flew to Shanghai from Los Angeles on a red-eye for my 30th birthday, we arrived at 7am and the Fairmont Peace Hotel immediately checked us in so we could shower and rest up, without any additional fees involved. Another example was when we visited San Fransisco to celebrate Pride Weekend, we took the first flight up from San Diego and asked if we could check-in a bit early so we could get some rest, and The Westin St. Francis Hotel in Union Square very willingly let us check-in a few hours earlier...also without any additional fees. I would like The Rose Hotel to be more flexible, especially since we travel to the Bay Area a lot. I still scratch my head thinking how much would the hotel would benefit if guests check-in three hours earlier when the room is already vacant? Would they rather charge me $99 now, and potentially lose me as a guest in the future? To be frank, it did leave a sour taste, because we presented a situation that was reasonable, and any other 5 star hotel in the world would of accommodated us. Thus, because of this, I am giving the hotel 3 stars and would be more inclined to stay somewhere else next time. Which is a major shame, because apart from the early check in fee, we truly enjoyed it. The hotel staff, service and decor were great. Another thing to remember - be sure NOT to take the stairs. We stayed in room 220, which was right next to the emergency stairs. Because there were no signs that notifies guests not to take the stairs, once we opened the door, it triggers an alert that immediately calls the fire department! Yikes! read more

Did not know that this lil gem existed in Pleasanton. Was looking for a place to stay & went to Yelp & the reviews were all positive. First, there is an old victorian feel as soon as you walk in the door. Massive high ceilings, winding staircase, cozy area with a fireplace. Me & my friends' first expression was "Wow! This is so pretty." Then we got to our toom, and the next expression was, "Damn! Look at this bathroom!" LOL! The room was a nice size, bathroom was modern & spacious, as well as the room. This hotel offered free (nice size) bottled water; robes; hella comfy slippers, and all the ammenities you desire. There's even a charger for your phone. Towels so soft. You can tell they use fabric softener. The bed was soooo comfy. Finally, I LOVED that we did not have to wear masks & that the hotel takes safety seriously. They lock the doors, I believe at 9:30. So, no. You ain't just roamin' your ass in this place. If I had to give a knock, it would be the pillows left a lot to be desired. They were a little flat, which made for some uncomfortable positions. I'd suggest investing in better quality pillows. And the garage does not have a lot of stalls; however, there is ample parking outside. Definitely will stay here again! read more

This was by far the best hotel experience I've had in quite awhile, if not ever. The hotel is a beautiful step back in time, but simultaneously very modern. The architecture of the building, furnishings and decor are all a bit older style, but absolutely beautiful. The hotel is relatively small and still takes care to do simple, but meaningful measures like providing a daily welcome sheet with incoming couples/families. As someone who got married during my stay, this was a huge moment to see my new married name being written down and welcomed into the hotel! The rooms are very spacious, both the sleeping quarters and the bathroom. The beds were turned down with chocolates, ear plugs, and temple balm, a wonderful surprise to retreat to! I forgot to pack my phone charger, but no worries; the hotel had a dual wireless charger on the nightstand!! After getting up in the morning and opening the amazing black out curtains (where can I get a set of these?!), the large windows let in a ton of natural light that made getting ready a breeze and made for great photo lighting! The front desk and housekeeping staff were delightful and so sweet from check in through post stay! I accidentally left my bridal bouquet in the room the following day and housekeeping had saved the flowers which I was able to pick up at the front desk. I booked a room so I could get a good night's sleep away from the cat and all his little kitty allergens (and my husband's snoring) before surgery at a nearby hospital. I had booked a second night for a bit of recovery away from said demanding feline princeling. I had a really hard time sleeping and went into surgery exhausted and sore. Went back to the hotel, got my stuff, and went home rather than try to spend a 2nd night on that hell-mattress. It's such a shame, everything else was very nice.
