(They were together for thirteen years, so as parents we became quite good friends.) Auntie Pasto's was a favorite of my daughters growing up. Initially went on autopilot to the original location. Pivoted to come to their new location on Bellaire. In the mood for eggplant Parmesan. Theirs is less breaded, so it is a bit lighter. Served with spaghetti with marina sauce and grilled veggies, it is a very hearty Italian meal. I forgot how generous their portions have been. Took half home for the lunch the next day. Added a salad for $2.95. Love their vinaigrette dressing which I get on the side. Nice place for a get together with our Girl Scout parent supper club. Let's see where we land next quarter.

We ordered a house salad with three pasta dishes to share among 4 people, and an additional sin pie for dessert. Staff took a bit of time to get to us, but was very quick and attentive. Recommend a salad to start, the bread is so soft! Pasta we ordered was rich and decadent! In ranking -crawfish ravioli - 4 to 5 pieces were great for one person, and the sauce was not overwhelming. Complemented the ravioli very well. -black pepper fettuccini with shrimp - their flagship special, a very well done dish, but also very creamy -fettuccini with jalapeño and shrimp - we want to try another fettuccine dish, but admit this was too much for our plate. We couldn't really taste the jalapeño or other vegetables in ordering the black pepper fettuccine outshone this dish. Additional sin pie for dessert that a group of four only took one bite each of because it was so rich.

A bit on the pricier side but there are plenty of not-as-budget-breaking options. We ordered 2 dozen oysters. They were very fresh. We also ordered a New England Clam Chowder, a Seafood fra Diavolo, a Fatty Beef Creamy Rice, and a Curry Pork Katsu omelette rice. We definitely needed a to-go bag but we wanted to try a lot! I'd go back again to try some new options. Overall pretty solid place with nice service, and food came out piping hot and quickly.

We ordered: Hong Kong milk tea - good, no complaint Chicken wings - arrived after our entrees. It looks delicious but was bland, really lacking flavor and undercooked. Uni pasta - I loved it the last time I had it. This time, not so much. The noodles were still al dente but the sauce was too thick and sea urchin was overcooked. I didn't really get to enjoy this dish! Sizzling Steak - we asked for the sauce on the side. But the dish was not sizzling and the plate wasn't even hot. The steak was tender, noodles al dente, but the sauce lacked flavor as well. I couldn't really tell what sauce I was dipping into. Service is fine, considering there was only one waitress and only two other small parties while we dined. Unfortunately, I think this would be my last trip here, considering that the one dish I crave from here, sea urchin pasta, no longer tastes right. So sad.

If you are looking for a great place to get fresh Italian pasta on the west side of Houston....you…read moreneed to try Casetta Cucina. This is not a place to eat pasta, it is a place to buy pasta you can prepare at home. It is located in a small and nondescript retail strip center on Campbell Road just north of I-10. Inside this tiny little shop you will find a place to get a cup of Italian Coffee and some pastries. You will also find some outstanding and very authentic Italian sandwiches. They generally have three or four to chose from for lunch. Seating is limited to a table or two inside and a table or two out front. (Yes it is that small.) Taking pride of place is the pasta kitchen, where the fresh pasta and sauces are made. Casetta is owned and run by a husband and wife team. The husband is from Italy and brings his passion for food with him. The available pastas, sauces and sausages are on display in two large refrigerators. Generally, I stop by for a sandwich and get some of the pasta and sauces for later in the week. There about 10 pastas and ravioli to chose from. Since Italians have very firm opinions on what sauces go with each pasta I always ask! For example I select a pasta or two.....then let them select the sauce to go with it. Give it a try. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Authentic Italian Food!…read more So glad my mother n law recommended this gem to me! Only Italian place in Houston that reminds me of my time in Italy, I've pretty much been all over Italy but this place gives me a more Florence aka Firenze vibe! Family owned! Interestingly enough the owner is from Florence! Customer service from Rebekah was simply outstanding and reminded me of my time in Florence where I felt as if I was family. They have fresh authentic Italian Ingredients! They have frozen Italian delicacy's you can buy like pastas, Mac n cheese, sauces, Italian sausages and more. They also make their own Italian pasta in house! They have a small coffee section, bread section and authentic Italian imported drink section. I opted in for their fresh sandwiches on focaccia bread I got the prosciutto sandwich and my wife got the caprese. My sandwich consisted of fresh arugula, (I forgot the cheese), prosciutto, balsamic vinaigrette on focaccia bread. The sandwich simply took me back to my time in Florence! Fresh and authentic ingredients! I also got a Limonata drink I forgot to take a picture of! I will be a regular customer! Tap in !

My food choices were the pizza Terzo Cerchio, and to take home, eggplant parmigiana and lasagna bolognese (see note below on take out choices). I would rate this pizza highly. The person making them, obviously not Italian, but well trained, resulting in a quality pizza. The Roman variant, pinsa, also available. Introduction of rice flour and soy flour with the wheat flour resulting in a more digestible dough. Many entree specials not seen elsewhere. Service, great. Ambiance, great. Based on my experience with the lasagna and the eggplant, I cannot recommend these as take out items that one would refrigerate and have a day or so later. Neither held up to second day consumption and were thrown out. These dishes should be considered for consumption at the restaurant, straight out of the kitchen while still hot. Melanzane parmigiana is not a dish from Parma. It is southern and a toss up on originating in Napoli, Calabria or Sicilia. The name likely derives from the Sicilian word parmiciana, referring to the wooden slats of shutters, mirroring the layered structure of the eggplant. But there are other theories.

The interior is small but quite long; you order up front and pay first and then sit down at a table and get brought your food out when it is ready. We tried some flatbreads, pizza's, and a clam pasta. Overall the flatbreads and their toppings were okay / good, the pizza was good but slightly lacking texture and crisp on the crust. The toppings were slightly lackluster on the pizza's and all three of the pizza's we ordered were decent but didn't exceed the group's expectations in terms of taste and texture of the crust. The clam pasta was also decent; the pasta was al dente and there were quite a few clams there but the flavor was a bit light. Overall we tried a variety of items on their menu and everything was good but the pizza was not spectacular.

For example, with the Turkish delights and ice cream selections, only a few items are labeled. For most of them, you have to guess the flavor or ingredients. When I asked questions, there was a language barrier, and the staff member behind the counter was unable to clearly explain what the items were in English. This can be especially frustrating for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In the U.S., I would expect all flavors and ingredients to be clearly labeled so customers can make informed choices. Even if staff members are not fluent in English, having accurate labels for flavors and ingredients would greatly improve the customer experience. The desserts themselves are excellent, but better product labeling would make the experience much more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
