Found Jo's on a day off while running errands. Had everything I needed..a burger/fry lunch special (burger ordered Medium, cook got it perfect), a draught beer, and Absolute on the rocks). A lady walked in while I was dining at the bar and ordered wings. I asked her how they were and she told me that Jo's was her local spot for them. I ordered 10 hot..pretty good! The pork chop and the fried chicken & Mac n cheese were pretty good and portions were large. The shrimp in the garlic shrimp appetizer was bland however the bread that came with it was good. The mule was good and the beer selection was diverse. Both drinks were priced around the average for that area. The service was bad, but we were eating at peak dining hours. We sat down, waited about 10 minutes and menus were placed on the table with no greeting. Waters were brought out another 10 minutes later with and still no greeting and she did not take our drink orders. The server finally came back and took our drink orders after about another 15 minutes. So this is a little neighborhood bar that looks like it gets a lot of business. The outside has a patio area and that's usually full on a nice days. More so than the inside. So if you want to go ahead and sit out side then that would probably be the move. The inside is a typical sports bar kind of situation, has a full bar if you are trying to drink. The service was good, everybody seemed to be nice and friendly and help me as soon as I sat at the bar. I got to carry out order so I sat there and waited while my order was being prepared. The bartender offered me a drink while I waited, and was super friendly. The food was nothing amazing. I ordered some lemon pepper wings, which are actually pretty decent. The fries were really flimsy and didn't have any crisp or crunch to them. The calamari breading was not super amazing, and it started to dissipate as well. I have been here quite a number of times in the past few months due to the very good food and the wonderful service. The staff is very friendly and they remember your name and your favorite drink. This is easily my favorite eatery in the neighborhood which is not bereft of options. Definitely try it out. There are very few restaurants like this inAtlanta and we need more of them. It is not a chain and it has large servings of Nicely prepared food at great prices. There is a great outdoor area that the owners allow you to bring your dog...love this! The owners are friendly enough but it is their culture to be pleasant but focused on the business of doing their job. Theirs is ina neighborhood near Blackburn park so it can get very busy. We came here for dinner tonight, arriving a little after 6:30 pm on a Thursday night. Jo's Grille has a free parking lot, but it's just too small for the number of customers that could fill up the restaurant. Blackburn Park has a parking lot very close by, and it looked like some of Jo's Grille's customers parked there. We walked in and were told by one of the three servers rushing by us to sit anywhere we wanted. We chose a table next to the fireplace that's in the middle of the indoor dining area. There are many tables in the indoor dining area, and large groups could be accommodated by pushing tables together. There is an outside patio surrounded by a low fence, and this area had many tables, with shade provided by large umbrellas. One of the servers came by to drop off menus and find out what we wanted to drink. She seemed to be in a hurry, which, I noticed, she actually was the entire time we were there. She really moved fast among the customers' tables and the kitchen. I wish that this equated to great and efficient service, but it didn't actually turn out that way. She wasn't bad, it's just that we couldn't quickly find her when we needed her for something. The way I saw it was that there were three servers handling all the customers, and the place was near capacity with customers while we were there. R ordered a meal with one kabob skewer of grilled shrimp (and bell peppers, onions and mushrooms), seasoned rice and a Greek salad. I ordered a meal with two grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes and a Greek salad. Our meals were served within 15 minutes. I just loved my meal - absolutely seasoned well and delicious, and the pork chops were meaty. The first pork chop I ate was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The potatoes were fluffy and also delicious. The only hitch with my meal was that the second pork chop was slightly undercooked and I sent it back for more cooking. It came back with even more grilled/charred flavor, so this was a win for me! R loved his meal too. We were both surprised that the portions were generous, even for the salads. Neither one of us had any room for dessert, so it was a pass. I'm looking forward to trying more items on the menu, which has a nice variety of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, house specials, wings and kids' meals. read more

First time trying Jo's Grille. Service wasn't great- we sat for 10 minutes before even having someone come over. Yet other tables who sat after us were served. The waitress wasn't very friendly but refilled our water at least. I would say the service was extremely casual to the point where we had to chase down servers when the order was wrong. Food was pretty good! The southwest burger was good and the side of sweet potato fries hit the spot. Just know it's a $1.95 charge to substitute sides. The Mac n cheese with chicken was just ok. Hidden lil gem in the Sandy Springs area! 3:30pm ish. Not crowded at all. Greeted promptly and seated. Very nice waitresses. For the appetizer we had mild hot wings. Wings came out fresh and crispy as requested. Fries were seasoned really good. I loved the fries. I had the House Kabobs with rice and Caesar salad. You get 3 kabobs, chicken, steak, and shrimp. Veggies. Delicious. The steak was cook perfectly... med well. Chicken was succulent and not dry like chicken kabobs can get. Really good. My friend had the ribeye steak and fries. This place is great! The menu is loaded with options, i have only had the lemon pepper wings , Philly and the Howard's special hot wings along with fried okra and fries on separate occasions. The bar tender Doris always takes care of patrons and customers at the bar and handles all the to go orders and she doesn't miss a beat. She is always on it and remembers customers by name and knows sometime what they ordered last time. I will always visit here for the many things they have on the menu. While some of the burgers look home-made, others like the turkey burger are pre-made patties. Mac & cheese tastes like Kraft, and salad dressings are standard bulk-made offerings. I had to hit those 5 stars quick!!! When I walk in a place and know without a doubt it's going to be a nice place to eat. It was a feeling I couldn't explain. I just left Lenox Square Mall, and started to head home. As I was approaching Jo's Grille, ( I'm the passenger) I pulled them up in Yelp. The reviews were great, but I look for the bad reviews to see what the gripe is about. I want to know if the gripe is worthy for concerned . I won't point out the gripes , but it wasn't enough to deter me. Therefore , I walked into a place with a smiling staff. I didn't get this old western saloon feeling , like I just walked in someplace where I'm not wanted. The staff smiled and even the customers were smiling at my hubby and (I refer as The Mister) and as we proceeded to grab a menu. Dang! Ok,Ok, There isn't anything better than friendly faces. The waitress asked if we were ordering in or take out. We decided to take it home. She offered us seating while we wait. Howard, came over introduced himself and offered us drinks . As we watched the tv and other customers walking in to dine in, I noticed the staff seemed to know them. A couple asked Howard is the grand baby had been born yet. Now this is so sweet. Before the couple left they stopped by The Mister and I and said hello to us and chatted with us a few seconds. Ok, I'm getting to the food. I know you're thinking girl, what about the food. We were waiting a while but I lost track of time, because Howard was so kind. He told us the food will be a while because everything is fresh. Although the name is the restaurant has the word grill in it , don't let that word fool you. They were cooking everything fresh in an open kitchen. Howard, said he's been at the location for 15 years. That's awesome ! During our talk I found out the business is named after his wife Josephine , whom didn't get the pleasure to meet. I still haven't mentions the food. It was such a cool place!! I ordered a turkey burger and a salad. I know that sounds basic. We also ordered 20 lemon pepper wings. They had all types of options there. I was overwhelmed ! I kept it simple. They even had calamari on the menu for those who like it. So we've been back to Joe's. It's better than it was years ago. The place is very worn so that tends to throw you off but it is clean the servers clean everything incessantly. The owner runs a tight ship. They actually have one of the best cheeseburgers around but don't get the fries the fries I just plain disgusting. Substituted for grilled veggies or mashed potatoes or onion rings steaks, and broiled fish are OK. They have some really good kebabs. This is a perfect example of a place that I would prefer to give 3.5 stars. It really isn't a 4, but they didn't do anything to deserve just a 3. I have passed by Jo's literally over 100 times since moving to the area. My wife and I always joke that we have never tried it, despite it often looking busy. I don't know...it just has this look like you should get there at 5:00pm to get the blue hair early bird special. That said, after trying to eat at two different spots last Friday night, and they had long waits, we decided to finally give Jo's a shake. There was one table left with no wait. It is a very family friendly place. Several families there with small children. I was surprised to see they had a full bar. I took advantage and had a Jack n Coke that was mixed well. Service was quick and polite and the place is clean. It has a rural family style restaurant feel. The menu is very big, which usually indicates they may do a lot of things, but none of them amazingly. That ended up being the case. I had a burger and it was huge, cooked fine, and juicy enough, but nothing incredible. My wife had a chicken skewer. The chicken pieces were a little large therefore kind of dry, but she said it was okay. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with Jo's. If you are looking for a place to take a family with kids where there is a wide variety on the menu, it's a solid place. Solid prices, good service and okay food. Likely won't race back or frankly I may drive by another 100+ times and not go. That said, I am glad this family friendly place is here to satisfy so many in the Brookhaven community. read more

Jo's is a little off the beaten path, but worth it! Jo's is my lunchtime salad/sandwich/burger venue of choice whenever I am around the Perimeter/Northside Hospital area, but they have an expansive menu of other items, as well. On any day that weather allows, you can see people sunning themselves at the outside seating areas, and the inside of the restaurant is tranquil and rustic with comfortable seating. The waitstaff is always curteous and promt, and I have had nothing but great food and great service each and every time I have visited. An extra bonus is that it is adjacent to a city park, so you can even take a nice stroll after your meal. My favorite is their icy cold, crisp wedge salad drizzled with ranch (just my preference - it comes with blue cheese normally) with warm bacon crumbles and diced tomato, and my daughter opts for their HUGE cheeseburger and homemade onion rings every time.
