Also, plenty of indoor seating, with tables, as well as some outdoor seating. Parking is ample and they accept credits cards as well as cash, of course! I have to say goodbye to a once great place. This is an update to my previous review: I don't think Loring and Jules own this place anymore. It has gone downhill. The pastrami sandwich, tabouleh and potato salad were terrible. We always get these items and they are not the same quality or count. The pastrami was not of the high quality (and two small slices), rye bread was more like balloon bread. We asked for everything on it including swiss cheese. No cheese, only mayo no mustard, a thin slice of tomato and a small piece of lettuce. No onions, pickles or anything else they normally put on the sandwich. The tabouleh had no bulgar, mostly herbs, and the potato salad was mostly mayo. There was an older woman who I believe now owns the place. She was a bit cranky, not friendly. If she thinks she is going to do well by lowering the quality and standards - she is wrong! After years of going here on our way to Pt. Reyes, we will no longer be going back. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to not bother to stop in unless they want a cup of coffee. The coffee is good, but don't think of getting anything else unless you want to be disappointed! read more

"Last stop before the park" is right. This quaint, eclectic store and deli has no lack of charm. It has a lot of the things you might find at any other convenience store but it also has a good deli and sells a lot of local artisanal goods, such as soap and coffee. It also has a few small places you can sit down and eat, both indoors and outdoors. The people were all friendly. The prices are a little high, but as to he expected. This is a true gem mountain stop before you enter the state parks. The staff here is beyond friendly. Very nice people that make you feel like you are at home. I was impressed with the inventory as some places in mountain towns can be a bit lackluster. They have a deli and some really nice meats, pasta salads and even taquitos! I was also happy to find some candles that were my souvenir scents to bring the mountains back to the city, along with other goodies. They even have some eclectic, hard to find sodas. I am looking forward to my next trip to Lagunitas and this store. You will not be disappointed! read more

I am sorry to have to write this review, but it's been a long time coming. For 12-1/2 years I have lived in the neighborhood of this grocery store/deli, I was there when it first opened under the new owner, have purchased items there and have frequently bought food at the deli. I have two major complaints, and after today I am certain I will never go back. For one thing, the last time I ordered their special "taco" specialty on the menu (which I obviously liked because I ordered it often), the owner went off on me big time, accusing me of being "picky" about the food and then he went on to cite all these other times in the past that I have complained which were not true. I think he was just having a bad day and decided to take it out on me by sandbagging and making up stories. I told him as he followed me out to my car and continued ranting and accusing me, that "I don't have to come here any more, you know". He said nothing. I never went there after that, but today (many months later), I HAD to buy something there because I have no car today and I needed to buy a bag of cat litter and I can walk to the store from my house. I noticed he had a whole new, state of the art electronic cashier system I was shocked to see that he had charged me a debit card surcharge fee of .28 cents. Not a lot, granted, BUT, does he realize that charging surcharge fees for the use of debit/credit cards is ILLEGAL in California?!! Not only that, but the total price of said bag of cat litter was TWICE AS MUCH as what it would normally cost in a regular supermarket. Surely, that's more of a markup than is actually necessary and fair. I paid $7.85 for a small bag of cat litter!! I am sorry to have to post this, Loring, because I really wanted to be a friendly neighbor, but I don't like the way you treat me, and I don't like some of your business practices. The one I mention here is illegal. What else going on in the store is also illegal, I wonder? I really don't care if you hate me at this point, or if you talk to all the neighbors about me. There is something in this place that is not right and doesn't feel very "Valley neighborly". Surcharging fees for debit/credit cards is illegal, and I don't ever want to be criticized and ranted on ever again as a customer and patron. As a senior in the community, I feel very uncomfortable going in that store. read more

Before you start reading, this is more a reminder than it a review. That said, total date idea. Went to hike pioneer Tree Trail not too far from here (peep my AllTrails account). It was an easy 2 mile loop but had tons of picnic tables and I don't think would get too busy considering it's proximity to mt tam and Stinson beach. Went and grabbed a sandwich afterwards...smarterest thing to do would to get it before the hike ‍. Anyway, a good amount of food options for a mom and pop grocery store - burgers burritos and sandos. I want with a turkey on Dutch with some added bacon. The bread was a bit tough but the amount of turkey made up for it. Also got a bag of chips and soda for $14 which was a good price since I saved the other half of the sando. Anyway, they sell wine and such - grab a bottle, a sando, hike picnic then total make out sesh. FYI it's dumb ideas like this that I'm single. Anyway, go try it and let me know how it goes. This place has had its up and downs over the past 20 years and today (May 31, 2021) they nailed it. Great sandwiches and thoughtful service. It was super busy and there was some confusion on whether or not one of our cheese steak sandwiches had been completed or not. The guy (probably an owner because he cared like an owner) jumped on it and said he's fix a fresh one right away, and comp a dose of extra meat for it. He ran to the back room to get it going, but in the mean time one of their employees found the missing sandwich and handed it to us. While we were eating, the owner guy came dashing out only to realize we had already been satisfied. He said "Oh, well, I guess this is my lunch." Everything was delicious. Ample serving sizes. The perfect supply stop while heading into Samuel P Taylor National Park. It is literally the last place you can pick up supplies while heading into the park from the Forest Knolls side. Wide variety of items available and the deli is to die for. Both ownership and staff really put their hearts into the business and it is reflect in the food and ambiance. We ate our lunches at this place several times in last few years as it was conveniently located on our bike route. The persons at the counter were courteous. Not so this time. I went in today. I wanted to first use their rest room and think about buying some snack as it was too early for lunch. The previous guys were gone and new folks were behind the counter. Both looked at me and gave not welcome look. Told me that the bathroom is for employees and occasionally customers may use it. But you are not welcome. Felt so disgusted that I walked out. They also, have Free Internet which comes in handy for us travelers, via Bike or Car! The store is stocked with most the needs for a house and for campers at Samuel P Taylor Camp. The prices you see here, albeit some protests here on YELP are normal for West Marin and Stinson Beach or Bolinas, and even Point Reyes Station. Bike Riders, this a neat spot to stop get some food, drink and rest. You can as well upload your photos and journeys. Remember there is a table behind the store that is often missed and nice to eat at. I would never have found this little roadside gem had I not had the luxury of dating a local. Sweet mother of god, the milk shakes--ahem "Creamy Dreamy Shakes"-- are ridiculous. Usually a traditional chocolate or vanilla shake girl myself, we went off the beaten path and opted to share the coffee. It took a little bit for my friend behind the counter there to hand it over, but I imagine it took so long because he had to wait for the northern californian faeries (creatures, not gays) to churn this stuff up in the trunk of a redwood out back. A few seconds after the WHOOOZing of the blender stopped, we were presented twenty ounces of pure magic in a humble plastic cup. Not too thick, but far from runny, this smooth, cold, sweet treat was far surpassed my expectations of the offerings of a modest country store. I can't speak for any other aspect of the store, I honeslty didn't even look around while I was waiting for my shake because I was fascinated by all the photographs of chickens that were taped to the cash register. I love the zen of this place. The store has much to offer from hand made jewlery, to groceries, hand made clothing, drinks and food. I bought a beautiful hand made dress here and an iced coffee. The coffee is a must try, it is organic and delicious, no cream or sugar needed. First sip and I can tell that it is great coffee. The customer service here was well, the workers were all very kind and fast with serving.
