Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 We got: - samosas: really savory with a lot of different spices, crispy on the outside and not at all dry! the potatoes are really soft and mashed inside and the dips it comes with are good, especially the potato-y one. the sweet dip is a little waterier than a lot of the other ones I've had but I don't mind it -- some of the better samosas I've had - Chicken Tikka Masala: tomato-y, definitely quite oily, very yummy! the chicken feels a tad dry but I'm glad it's cooked thoroughly, watch out for the big flakes of brown spice (sorry idk the names of spices, maybe star anise? ) and don't eat those! - Aloo Naan: I feel like it's so hard to find places with aloo naan! it's soft and fluffy, there's a thin layer of spiced potato inside though it's not overwhelming and I personally like to eat it with a curry, I ate it with the chicken tikka masala in place of eating that with rice and it paired well - Seekh Kabab Roll: honestly did not love this, there were a ton of spices (not spicy but just full of spices) in it that felt really overwhelming, the meat was decent in texture though and it's probably just not my thing! the naan that's wrapped around it is soft There may be parking in the back which you can access via a small road on the right side of the restaurant when coming in from the front but I did street parking really quickly since I was just picking up. Order at the counter, then grab a seat if you're dining in. Decent selection of items with fair pricing. Definitely not a fancy place and it looked pretty rough on the inside. This is a place you can go where you just want to grub out on Indian/Pakistani food and be left alone while you do so. I come here on some weekends to have their halwa puri and beef paya. I pass most Pakistani restaurants in the Bay Area to go there and that's no accident. The beef paya is one of the authentic tastes around and reminds me of home. The prices are also very reasonable and the restaurant is very welcoming and the staff very nice. This is a no frills restaurant that's meant to serve good food in a family-oriented setting. I love the spicy food that they serve. You have the option of ordering from the counter or through the self-serve kiosk. This is pretty convenient. My kids liked the lamb curry and the goat biryani. It went very well with the Naan. Went for dinner service with a friend as they were just opening (around 5pm). You can either walk up and order with the attendant or self service order. This is a no-frills restaurant, they have plates and utensils you get yourself, and big sauce bottles you take to your table. They do have high chairs for the kiddos, and a prayer room. I did not check the restroom for cleanliness. As for the food, we had Chicken Biryani, beef shish kebab and onion naan. Everything was really good. Great Pakistani restaurant near downtown. Looks like they're set up for mostly takeout upon first look, but they have a decent space in here. Dining in was very pleasant though. There's complimentary milk tea for customers dining in, along with some really good sauces on the side. I got a lunch combo which came with a chicken kabob, curry chicken, a lentil curry, rice, and a naan. It was a colossal amount of food! The curry chicken is well spiced and the chicken is so tender. The kabob was also very solid, and really good with one of the sauces on the side (no idea what it was). My favorite is the naan here. Compared to other naan I've had this one is particularly light, almost like a pizza dough. Really pleasant chew and texture. Service was friendly and quick. Alrighty honest review time. Came for halwa puree on Sunday to lahori. As I am in San Jose this was closest place to come to. We came at 11 and were first people here, they have kiosk to make things easier. The chai even came out few minutes after the store opened. Placed our order and within like 15-20min our trays came. Oh boy. The portions are HUUUUGE. I doubt a single person (whose health conscious lol but ironic that we came for it and speaking of health (cheat meal)) could finish it all. Channe were really good. Especially with the onion touch. The consistency was thick not runny water like other places make it. The recommendation I would make is have the halwa be a bit sweeter. Lol my mom and I make halwa puree at home and the halwa we had today felt a bit oldish? And it wasn't as sweet. So I would say that needed a bit of work. The purees were amazing Allahuma barik . The food is legit. That is what my Pakistani wife said as she ripped a piece of roti and dipped it into the chicken karrahi. We opted for the palak paneer and the chicken Biryani. The chai was complimentary. It was the best Pakistani food we have had that wasn't out of our own kitchen. Price was decent as well. Customer service was meh. Upon arrival I was a tad bit nervous because there was absolutely no patrons inside. After looking at the menu I asked the cashier if he could make any recommendations that were spicy. I don't recall the name of the plate he recommended but it was a special that was listed on a paper (it may have been nahiri but not quite sure). In the picture it's the left corner plate. We ordered; Samosa, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Nihari (not sure if it's the name for sure) , biriyani, chicken boti and fries. My friend did not like the boti so I ended up taking that. The fries were just frozen fries which worked out since we had a child with us. Food was good 9/10. While waiting for our food and eating; it was amazing to see how many people ordered food to go.. so the spot itself was empty but people are definitely ordering from this spot! I want to say the Naan was not garlicky enough! Lol! For appetizers we got Tandoori chicken and Tandoori Fish. Both were good but lacked enough salt! My friends want to try spicy desi food, and this place shows up on yelp at about 12 mins drive. Lahori is a small self-service restaurant, and once we got there, there was no one. It could be rainy weather, or we were there for an early dinner on Sunday evening. We started with appetizers like seekh kabobs and qeema naan. Meanwhile, we asked for a few things from the main menu, chicken tandoori, achar gosht, chicken karahi, and tandoori roti. Food came within 15 mins, and we were starving, so we started the food immediately. Service was slow even though there was no one else there. This makes you concerned, too, but this is the only desi place that opens close to the stadium. The tandoori chicken breast was well marinated and bbq. Achar gosht and karahi chicken almost taste the same. I think they used the same gravy in both dishes, but I sure enjoyed my chicken BBQ. Price was reasonable, and the service was ok. Even though the place was not busy but the person behind the counter was not smiling. Again it's a self-service place, so it's ok now if I will go back again. Hmmm, maybe. We went during lunch time and it was chill, just in time for the lunch combo meal #2. This combo had lamb, tandoori chicken, Dahl, and came with MASSIVE naan. Samosas were fantastic, not overly spiced! Parking is tough, I had to circle around a time or two, you'll probably be luckier parking in the residential area behind the restaurant. This was the closest Halwa Puri place to our home with decent reviews so we decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. The Halwa Puri came out fresh and the serving size was enough for 2 moderate-eating people. We also ordered their samosas which weren't as good. We topped it off with some Ghulab Jamun which were also really nice but the highlight of the meal was definitely the Halwa Puri. The staff was really respectful as well.
