Malabar fish curry drenched in oil.
    Lovejit K.

I have been going to this place after Red Chillies in Milpitas closed their restaurant and now only does catering. This place is a hit or miss but today I was super disappointed hence this review. I go for my staples Malabar fish curry and Beef fry with appam. Beef fry was super bland as if they forget to put any spices in it. The worst was the malabar fish curry was DRENCHED in oil. see pic below Will not be going here for a while now.

We gave this place a try as our go-to place for Kerala food--red chillies closed. We ordered online, although the pick-up time that their website showed was 30 minutes before the restaurant opened. Needless to say, we had to wait 30 minutes after our scheduled pick-up time because their website was buggy and they took orders even during their off-hours. Thankfully, the food was ready within 15 minutes after the restaurant opened. We ordered fish cutlets, kappa, mango fish curry, and beef roast. The food was good, and the portion size was good as well. I really liked the fish curry. I'm not sure if it's worth the drive, though.

My best friend and I visited Malabar Coast today for dinner and I was absolutely mind blown by how flavourful and yummy the food tasted. My first time having Kerala food and my bestie (he's from Kerala) ordered some dishes for me to try. He ordered 2 curries Chicken Varutharachatu (Spicy chicken curry cooked to perfection with curry leaves and red chilli, tasted little similar to chettinadu chicken curry with Kerala flavors) CHEMMEEEN MANGA CURRY ( shrimp curry with notes of raw mango, tamarind cooked in coconut oil) , Iddiappam( steamed rice cakes like vermicelli) and parota. The food was exceptionally yummy and I absolutely loved my first Kerala food experience. The iddiappam and shrimp curry was a match made in heaven. Same goes to chicken curry and parota. Will visit again to try out more dishes.

Haven't been more disappointed with a restaurant in recent memory. The menu looked exciting with a lot of unique options and we ordered a lot of varieties - fish cutlets, chicken 65, talasery chicken biryani, kappa, parotta, idiyappam, meen vatichathu. Chicken 65- the only decent dish of the evening, not exceptional but nothing much to complain about. Fish cutlets- under seasoned with a strong smell of fish. Idiyappam- not freshly prepared, they were hard set due to sitting around for some time. Kappa- made with yucca root, there were several large chunks of the intact yucca root. Porotta- flaky but very stiff without much malleability. Meen vatichathu- fish curry with very strong flavor of tamarind. I personally didn't like it. Talasery chicken biryani- the dish came with rice mixed with a very oily chicken gravy as the bottom with some other rice on top. There was a boiled egg as well. The texture of the rice was hard, it was not uncooked but it's the state the rice gets rendered to when refrigerated. The temperature of the dish was inconsistent, parts of it were warm and parts of it were room temperature with the hard rice. The boiled egg was fridge cold. We couldn't eat the dish. I hate wasting food and tend to pack leftovers but this was something I could barely eat or pack to take home. I personally wanted to provide feedback to the owner so I requested a call back as he was not at the restaurant. He promptly called me and spoke to to me for 10 mins, took all the feedback constructively and apologized for my experience. I hope they improve and take the feedback in the right stride.

    Talassery Biryani - Chicken

Service = Ok Ambience = Bad ( not clean) Food = Below average. Non of the item was fresh. Chili chicken was certainly not fresh same as the Beef Fry. It may because we went on a weekday. Not worth the money and time.

Ordered Fish Fry, explicitly had mentioned to keep it mild. Even picked up the order and open it, it had the spicy masala used. Asked the cashier and his meak response was that is how we make it, when asked you should have called and informed so I can cancel the order the response was the chef did not see the message that came with order. Now the preparation, it was shoddy, the spices applied only to some area and underprepared/cooked. Very poor experience with food and service

Really good flavors and friendly staff. I got the idiyappam, paneer makhani, paratha, and gobi manchurian. They were all very good. Malabar Coast is in the top quartile of Indian restaurants in the area for sure. The only nit is that the quantity of the idiyappams was tiny and it was barely there.

I've ordered through Uber Eats and also dined in, but I highly recommend going in for lunch. They were happy to customize my order, which I really appreciated since I can no longer stomach spicy food. My go-to is the mild chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and rice, and the mango lassi is delicious. You really can't go wrong exploring the menu. The restaurant was clean, tables were nicely set, and even the refrigerated sweets displayed at the front looked fresh and well kept. I'm particularly picky about cleanliness especially restaurant floors and bathrooms so I definitely notice when a place is well maintained. They gave green chilli achar along with it, which was the exact taste that I used to eat in my childhood (north Indian taste) Samosa chat was good - but it needs more chaat toppings like onion, sev etc. didn't like chai because I prefer more milk in my chai. Sweets were great. - finally found a place where I am going to buy sweets from now on. Service was good too - we definitely enjoyed all the conversation. It's a small dining place, definitely going again.

You go to the counter, they present you with menus and tell you where to sit, then you come back up to the counter when you're ready to order. Service was welcoming and helpful. We got the lunch special, which has pre-selected items for the day. One of the items was an item i was going to order separately, but decided to switch it out when I heard it was going to be in the special. The employee helpfully offered some popular alternatives. The food was absolutely delicious! A good amount of spice and not like some of the places more local to me. (I'm from Sac.) We ordered the following: Special Lunch Thali, Pav Bhaji, and Puranpoli. The only time I could've done without was the Puranpoli. I didn't care for the flavor of the spice/sweetness, but that's just me personally. I've never had that dessert before from anywhere and knew I'd regret not having the menu item that is the same as the restaurant's name. Definitely going to be craving the food from here! I ordered the egg biryani, butter chicken, and their friday curry flight that came with the choice of 3 curries, a salad, raita, and naan. I will say their raita is not my favorite, its just thick plain yogurt. I ordered online and I had to wait a little when I got there but that was okay. Local Pakistani artwork adorning the walls. Delicious grilled meat smells wafting around as well. ***FOOD: we got chicken 65, naan and samosa chaat sans yogurt. *chicken 65-3/5- this was almost beetroot red in color. In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

First off, the delivery was a smooth process, dot on time and packaged with such precision. Ankush, who runs the show at Delhicacies came to do the honors and as well left detailed instruction on how to go about preparing one of the starter dishes that we had ordered (Bhalle Papdi chaat that is). The menu we chose included Bhalle Paapdi Chaat, Cocktail Samosas, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, Baingan Bharta, accompanied by Roomali Roti and Lacchay Pyaaz as a side salad. The Bhalle Paapdi Chaat was an instant crowd-pleaser, with the perfect balance of crispy papdi, fresh bhalle, cool sweet yogurt, tangy tamarind along with green sauces, a secret masala powder and a garnish of beetroot , pomegranate and cilantro. All of these were packed separately and instructions were provided (step by step) to prepare the end result which tasted out of the world good. It was refreshing yet packed with flavors that kept everyone asking for seconds. The Cocktail Samosas were golden, crisp, and filled with a spiced potato mixture that made them an ideal finger food--perfectly bite-sized and not greasy at all. For the main course, the Paneer Tikka Masala (PTM) stole the show with its rich, velvety sauce that coated the tender paneer in just the right amount of spice. The flavors were balanced yet bold, making it a standout dish. The earthy flavor in the paneer made it finger licking good and definitely was the biggest hit of the evening. The Chana Masala had the perfect texture--soft chickpeas simmered in a well-spiced gravy that had just the right amount of heat and tang. Cubes of paneer in there definitely made it a good overall combination and complemented with the PTM. The smoky and flavorful Baingan Bharta added an earthy depth to the meal as well. The eggplant was roasted beautifully, bringing out its natural flavors, which paired wonderfully with the Romali Roti. The roti was soft, thin, and warm, making it the ideal vehicle to soak up the gravies. We did end up heating the rotis in our microwave oven for about 10-15 seconds in batches and they remained perfect in their texture and taste. The Lacchay Pyaaz--freshly sliced onions with a sprinkle of masala--added a crunchy, refreshing bite to balance the richness of the other dishes. Overall, Delhicacies delivered an out of the world authentic North Indian culinary experience with each dish tasting as though it was prepared with care and precision. The food was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and served fresh. Our guests were impressed, and we couldn't have been happier with the quality of food and service of delivery. If you're looking for reliable and delicious Indian catering, Delhicacies should be at the top of your list! Give them a chance and thank me later. You are welcome!!!
