Patients be warned...this is a major warning regarding dental fraud. This dental office told me that I needed invasive gum surgery due to gum disease. The surgery quote exceeded $3500 with insurance. I went to seek a second opinion with another periodontist and was told by him that my GUMS WERE FINE. He said that there were no issues regarding my gum health and that the intense surgery, involving bone grafts, recommended by Towne Centre Dental was TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. I was shocked, as I was fully prepared to proceed with this costly and highly invasive surgery because I was told by Towne Centre Dental that it was absolutely necessary and that not following through with the surgery could result in tooth loss. The second opinion periodontist reassured me that my gums were fine and that the diagnosis and suggested surgery by the periodontist from Towne Centre Dental was completely unnecessary. Now, this would be shocking enough. But, there's more. I was sharing my story with colleagues at work. After hearing my story, a teaching colleague said, "Wait, what dental office was this?" I told her that it was Towne Centre Dental. She then proceeded to tell me that the SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER, SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR!!! She was given the same diagnosis that I was and was told she needed the same gum surgery with bone grafts. She also happened to seek a second opinion and was told by that dentist that her gums were fine! So, it would appear that my case isn't an isolated incident. I couldn't be more disappointed in a dental practice. Giving a false diagnosis and telling the patient that they need painful, invasive, and very expensive surgery is evil and morally wrong. This is my regular dentist HOWEVER they went above and beyond with a resolve to a quick problem I had. Long story short, got a 3 tooth bridge made and inserted off an embarrassing tooth "failure" right in the front of my mouth. Price comparisons were explained on several solutions and I picked the one best suited for my (71 years old) goals. The time it took to X-ray, prep, make, etc was extremely fast with minimal down time! The fit is perfect and have waited till now to post my delight. It's been about 10 weeks now! I've been going to Towne centre dental for the past few years and since starting here my oral health has declined significantly. (I had nearly perfect teeth prior to coming here.) They claimed I have severe gingivitis and periodontal disease and suggested deep cleaning every 3 MONTHS and an invasive bone grafting surgery to reconstruct my "bone loss." I thought this is crazy to have such a huge difference in oral health in such a short amount of time so I decided to get a second opinion. It turns out I don't have any gum diseases or bone loss and very minimal gum recession. I also had a mouth guard made while I was under their care and it never fit correctly. I had complained about it and all they said was that it was supposed to be that way and never made any adjustments. I have now been fitted with a new one with another dentist and it is night and day how different they are and feel. Huge improvement from the crap I had from here. I'm convinced that they are out to get your money so be careful! I didn't need to have expensive deep cleanings every 3 months and I don't need surgery of any kind, AND the mouth guard I now have fits better and is cheaper than the one I got here! I will say though the front office staff has always been nice and very kind in explaining insurance and pricing. The hygienists are also kind and do their job well. This dental group is the type of business you wish there was a 0 star option for. I've been there twice and never going back. Even if you have perfect teeth, these people will find a way to charge you $500+ each time you go. Unfortunately, this is one of many dental offices who used to have great practices but can't recover from Covid without up charging as much as possible. This is why most of the 5 stars are from pre-covid. They would easily have a 1 star average counting post covid times only. If this and the many other reviews don't convince you to stay way from this business, please make sure to not fall for the manipulation tactics the dentist will use on you. I can't describe how disappointed I am with my experience here. Ironically, everyone was very kind and the person who took my x-rays was excellent. However I came in with some discomfort when I would chew on anything hard on a molar on my upper right side. I told them as I had gotten a filling there 8 months prior, that I thought maybe it was something with the filling. What they told me however was shocking. They said I would probably need a root canal and maybe even root canals for the surrounding teeth. I have horrible dental anxiety so I ended up crying in my car after as I had never had anything like that before. This filling was even my first cavity, and only 8 months after a filling? So I waited a year, basically avoiding the dentists and kind of hoping to ignore my problems. Bad idea, I know. Well a few days ago, I was flossing and a piece of my tooth chipped off from it. My heart sank and I knew I couldn't ignore it any longer. I went to a new dentist, one that also specializes in sedation as I had resigned myself to needing a root canal. But could you imagine my surprise when they showed me my x-rays and told me it was actually just my filling that fell out, I didn't need a root canal or anything even approaching it, and it was most likely just a loose filling the whole time I was feeling discomfort. This dentistry is so irresponsible and tried to make me think I needed 2-3 root canals after I told them I even thought it was something to do with my filling. They only want money, which is such a shame cause I really wanted to like them. If you go here, at the least, make sure you get a second opinion. read more

Unfortunately have to agree with the other reviews stating that it seems like they just want your money, and a lot of it. I usually don't assume that of businesses right off the bat, but after being told by my previous dentist of 25 years, who unfortunately no longer takes my insurance, that my teeth and gums were in excellent health, I came to this office hoping to get a routine cleaning. They mentioned that the exam was covered by my insurance, and took me back for an exam and x-rays. The doctor proceeded to tell me that my gums were in the 2nd stage of gum disease, that I needed a mouth guard ($400+), and a deep cleaning ($800+). I explained that I have no issues, cavities, pain, or discomfort and would prefer to just have a regular cleaning. They said that would not be possible due to the "condition" of my teeth. Not sure what kind of dentist would deny someone a cleaning of any form. Additionally, while I have not yet received a bill, my insurance informed me that I will be responsible for paying for the various scans and x-rays completed during my exam, which came to about $900. It was never mentioned by the staff that those were separate from an "exam" (the 30 seconds or so that the doctor spends looking at your teeth and gums). If that is the case I will be contacting the dental office's financial department. The only plus side is that the reception staff is very friendly. I would stay far away from here, unless you need costly work done anyways. It seems like they treat those who are about to fork out a lot of cash with much more care and dignity. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They lie to you and just try to steal your money. Staff is rude. They just want to rip you off! I went in for a normal cleaning. After they took xrays and checked me out, I was told I need laser and a deep cleaning. The charges were around $1,000 and they charged me for pictures and x rays, even though that has always been covered by my insurance. I have never had a cavity before and never told I need a deep cleaning. I told them I would do the normal cleaning and not the deep cleaning along with the laser. The person that came back to sell me on the deep cleaning was rude and would not take no for an answer and came back three times slightly lowering the price. I finally repeated that I won't do the deap cleaning, she then got mad and said well then they can't work on you. 2 other people were sent back to talk to me and try to convince me to do the deep cleaning. I felt like I was in boiler room and they were all trying to close me. I left since they refused to give me the nornal cleaning I was looking for. So I found a new dentist who accepted my insurance. They didn't charge me for xrays or pictures and said I didn't need a deep cleaning. read more

I've been holding off on this review because places have bad days but at this point I would advise staying away from this place as they are both incompetent and unable to care for children that have issues with their teeth. They also do really poor work because they just aren't paying attention. The first time, I had scheduled an appointment well in advance for my seven-year-old daughter and they were completely unprepared to take X-rays of her teeth and give her a proper check up. We waited for nearly two hours while they tried to figure out how to do this basic Dentistry function. My wife had to have some work done and they had trouble figuring out which tooth needed the work! Talk about sloppy and disorganized! Today, I brought my child in with a serious cavity and they once again declined to provide basic dental treatment for a very serious issue. They said that there was nothing they could do about a cavity on a tooth, which is what dentists are supposed to be able to handle as part of their practice. I have been seriously disappointed multiple times and the reviews that are on this site so far do not reflect the actual level of service or quality that you will receive by going to this dentist. As my experience is show, they struggle with anything beyond the most basic tooth cleaning. With the most recent appointment, I had to wait for a week to get in, only to be told there is nothing they can do and no offer of referrals that could solve the problem. Its quite possible that they have simply too many patients and are not prepared to handle the amount of business that they are receiving. At least they will not be receiving mine anymore. 0/5 stars! After I had waited for an hour, they started aggressive advertisement and recommended deep cleaning, and rejected preventive cleaning, which they suppose to do. I was happy with my initial visit. Dr. Patel performed the cleaning that included the 4-quadrant deep cleaning which my insurance covered. I was very unhappy with the second visit though. Cleaning was performed by Edgar who was very friendly and who made me feel relaxed. However, cleaning was very unsatisfactory. It felt like he just scraped a couple of teeth and did not even perform any scraping in the back teeth. He used the ultrasonic instrument on a few teeth in front and left the back portion of my mouth completely ignored. He suggested I go for cleaning every three months which did not make any sense since he left most of my teeth untouched during the cleaning. Another issue I had during my last visit was in regards to the X-ray and photographing of my teeth. The x-ray technician could not get a clear photo taken because of the plastic protection on the instrument. After several attempts, she gave up and just removed the plastic cover and put the instrument directly inside my mouth. Afterwards, she did a few swipes with the alcohol swab on the instrument and put it back in its cradle. This was extremely dangerous and could have exposed me to bacteria and virus from other patients. I left a message with the receptionist for Dr. Pandhoh to return my call twice to discuss my dissatisfaction with my last visit. Not once did he call. He also ignored the message I addressed personally to him on their web site. read more

After moving into the neighborhood, I was looking for a local dentist to see for my dental care. I am highly dissatisfied with this dental practice. It is a nightmare! Dr. Patel is awful. My initial appt was scheduled by Steffen and I was told I will get a general cleaning. When I arrived, Dr. Patel did not measure my gum health, instead stated that I needed a deep cleaning. She can't do it because I need to schedule with a dental hygienist. REALLY? I waited in the treatment room for over 10 min, walked out to find Dr. Patel hanging out from the front desk with Steffen. She said well I can't do a cleaning for you because of time. I WAS THERE for 1 hour and you can't get a general cleaning in..and tried to misdiagnosed and upsell me?!? Stefen stated that this is the BEST dental practice around, REALLY? READ THE OTHER REVIEWS DUDE!!! I Received the EOB from my insurance and they charged me $790.00 (see image attached). For images and what? Dr. Patel said I will need to schedule for another day a deep cleaning with dental hygienist. Steffen came into the treatment room and quoted me $500. At that moment, I told Steffen I want to go elsewhere for a second opinion. I emailed Stefen regarding reversing my insurance charge and never heard back from him for over 2 weeks. I called him twice today and told him did he ignored my email. I explained my experience, he said he can't do anything because insurance already paid him. I just got off with my insurance and they are creating a case to reverse the charge. I ended up going elsewhere with better care and only needing a general cleaning that my insurance pays 100%. read more

I never leave negative Yelp reviews. But in this case I feel that Buyers need to be aware!!! Towne Centre Dental of Foothill Ranch advertises "New Patient CLEANING and X-rays for $59" After arriving for what I thought was a cleaning appointment they ran a series of sets of X-rays. 3 separate kinds of X-rays and a cat scan of the head and neck. Taking well over 30 minutes to complete with an extreme amount of radiation exposure! Consultation with the Dr was thorough. She recommended all kinds of possible future work and took about 20 mins of her time with me. I thought she was very kind and polite. She then suggested a deep cleaning for me to be scheduled later that afternoon and explained that the dental hygienist was very busy and couldn't do see me right away. I agreed to come back later that day for my cleaning. She then sent in her financial advisor to discuss payment. The deep cleaning was going to cost me over $850!! I questioned the $59 Cleaning and X-ray special I was there for. She then sent the Dr back in to talk to me. The Dr became visibly upset with me and tried to convince me to do the deep cleaning instead. I insisted I only wanted the standard cleaning I came in for. She then stormed out of the room. QUITE a while later she returned with her cleaning tools. It surprised me to see that the Dr was going to do the cleaning herself! She said it would only take a few minutes, which surprised me as well. She literally only cleaned my teeth for less than 5 minutes. Less time than I spend brushing my teeth each morning. ( A 5-minute cleaning for a client who supposedly needs a deep cleaning? Questionable!) She hurried through it while hurting me several times in the process. Poking and jabbing my gums with her fingernails and cleaning tool. This was the worst dental cleaning I've ever experience, if you can even call it a cleaning? More like a beating! She then sent someone else in to polish my teeth who spent a couple of minutes only. A total of under 10 minutes devoted to cleaning my teeth on what turned out to be an almost 2 hour visit. Do not go there under the assumption that you will be getting your teeth cleaned! I have never been told I needed a deep cleaning. I have actually been told that I take very good care of my teeth by more than one dentist. I can only assume that the dentists in this office are required to do the cleaning themselves on the new patients $59 cleaning special, unless of course they are successful in convincing you to go with their "deep cleaning" option which she told me would only take 45 mins to an hour.... Instead I got all that I did not want...x-rays, an examination and recommendations for future work...recommended work totaled $3,710 out-of-pocket. My total out of pocket for a routine cleaning (including x-rays...not necessary for cleaning) was $340.00. Unfortunately I can no longer give glowing reviews. I have been a loyal customer since Town Centre Dental opened and now they act like they don't know me. Recently the office threatened me with collections for a co-pay that was not collected at my appointment time. The office staff was rude when I tried to cancel a pending appointment for my daughter to have her wisdom teeth removed. I have not rescheduled this appointment and they have not called to determine why I am upset or to follow up on this procedure. I was very impressed. Self Check-In at home the day before my appointment. Medical history questionnaire sent by email the same day I called for the appointment. Upon arrival, I barely sat down by the time they called me in for xrays. The dentist, Sumeet Pandhoh listened to my concerns, explained how I can have improved care for the survival of my own teeth and spoke with me in detail about a plan for care. I can't remember when the dentist has spent that much time with me. The insurance person came in and spoke to me about the cost and the coverage of my dental plan, scheduled appointments for all the planned care. AND I got an appointment for cleaning the very next day. The other appointments are within range of my availability, not months away. Edgar performed my cleaning today. He was very friendly, personable, spoke to me about the condition of my teeth while cleaning them and ways to improve the health of my teeth & gums. He also spoke about the laser technology used by Towne Center Dental to improve care and protect my teeth. The cost was much less than the prior dentist where I left feeling I had not gotten great care, paid too much for and never saw the dentist. A WORD OF CAUTION: Be careful about doing business with Smile Generation/Comenity Bank who handle Towne Centre's financing. They are unpleasant, unyielding and downright rude. Their no-interest plan is NOT a no-interest plan so don't be fooled. It is no-interest for 12 months, after which you are charged compounded interest for those 12 months if you haven't paid them off in full by then, even though you never promised to and never knew you had to. So after paying my bill on time for 12 months, the interest hit and my balance was pretty much back to where I started. This was the worst teeth cleaning appointment I have ever experienced in my life. During my appointment this hygienist displayed the worst time management I have ever seen. My appointment was nearly over and we hadn't even started the cleaning when the hygienist told me I was going to have to wait for her to take her next patient. Not only was that unheard of and absurd but I requested to ask the Dentist a question and she proceeded to tell me I had to wait 30 minutes for her. I have never heard of any dentist in my entire life that takes 30 minutes with one patient without going from patient to patient throughout the day.
