This was an amazing evening and the staff were wonderful. We went on this cruise for a friends birthday. The environment on the boat was set up perfectly to enjoy conversation and the beautiful scenery around Lake Shasta. The multi-phased dinner was great. If someone went home hungry it was their own fault! I also want to especially thank the captain and crew for their support when we had a medical situation with the birthday "boy". They handled the situation even better than we could have asked. The best part is the evening (and patient) ended on a VERY good note. Thank you all for the amazing service and compassion! read more

My wife and best friends/neighbors had a wonderful dinner cruise on Shasta Lake Saturday, May 20, 2023. Dinner and service were perfect. We started off with fresh bread and two types of spread, then progressed to salads and fresh fruit. Main course consisted of tri-tip, bbq chicken and another type of chicken, fresh veggies, and a shrimp and Cajun corn on the cob selection. All was delicious! They offer ice water, soft drinks, a passion fruit drink, and ice tea. We brought some white wine . Desert was a custard/cookie mix and also delicious. The weather was a "10". Not too hot, a slight breeze, and clear skies. The lake was at 100% capacity. All-in-all we had a most wonderful time and plan to do it again before the season ends. read more

Very poor experience for those with food allergies. Our party called about 2 months in advance to check if one person's allergy could be accommodated. They checked with the chef & the chef said that the allergy could be accommodated including side and meat options. We would not have made this booking otherwise. The regular menu included a salad bar, pasta salad, broccoli salad, potato salad, bread & dip, tri tip, bbq chicken, lemon shrimp, fruit, corn on the cob, assorted veggies & various cakes for dessert. Of this, the options that my dad could eat were plain lettuce with no dressing, plain corn, fruit, and plain shrimp. The chef stated "we could've made more things for you if you'd let us know in time" which was frustrating & untrue because we made the booking and confirmed the allergy accommodation 2 months ago. The chef also said "are you like...deathly allergic?" which was insulting & said the meat didn't have the allergen but the seasoning on the meat did. Which obviously still counts as an allergen. All of the other staff on board were very kind & tried to do what they could, but unfortunately this lack of communication meant my dad paid a full ticket price for barely any food & left hungry. The rest of our party had a good time & good food, the boat ride and crew and pictures were all great, but it was a real bummer to watch my dad have this experience that was avoidable, with no apology or refund offered. It is so hard to go out to eat with an allergy & bad communication makes it so much worse. Please be honest about what allergies you can and can't accommodate so that people can make an informed decision when booking. read more

What a beautiful and fun dinner! My wife and I did a double date with a couple friends on 9/21/19. The cruise lasted 2 hours. The courses were: 1- a variety of breads and dip 2- Garden salad and fruit salad 3- Main course buffet. Tri-tip, grilled chicken, two types of shrimp, sautteed mushrooms, two types of potato salad, green beans, and a 4 bean salad. 4- Cheesecake for dessert. A variety of non-alcoholic beverages are served, but you can bring your own alcohol if you want! The weather was perfect, and the lake beautiful with the water level so high. The main course arrives on a second boat about 45 minutes into the cruise. They tie up together real quick to hand off the grub. There's a convenient RV-style restroom on the boat, clean and well made. I plan to do this EVERY summer now. read more

I loved this dinner cruise so much, I expected buffet type food as others have mentioned but no....the food is EXCELLENT, the cook does a fantastic job, the staff are so friendly and nice, everyone was in a good mood and the scenery is fantastic. I organized a weekend getaway for 18 women and this was the highlight of our trip! There is a bit a of a walk to the boat, but you can request to be driven down, so half appreciated the exercise and the other half opted to be driven. The staff on the boat were amazing, the views, the food and the ambience was just incredible. From the beginning to the end, we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. So---I arrived late for the cavern tour only to "discover" that a dinner cruise on the lake was an option. To save face with my date, and to avoid the 'why didn't you plan ahead?" question, I quickly transitioned to the 'surprise' of having deviously planned this beautiful dinner cruise. The setting (lake, mountains) is undeniably beautiful, the operators were sweet and hard-working, the food was really surprisingly good. The other guests were similar delighted to be there. And best of all, my date was very pleased. Even spotted a bald eagle flying overhead with a fish in its talons, and a rainbow occurred over the mountains. Would definitely do it again. read more

This was a great time. So beautiful on the lake. Bring your own wine and just relax. Dinner was excellent. Buffet style with three meats and lots of sides. The salmon was great, chicken was yummy but the tri tip was really wonderful. This is a great date evening that my fiance and I enjoyed so much. read more

I had purchased a season pass to Shasta Caverns as a gift, and I was trying to purchase a gift certificate for the dinner cruise as well. The caverns tour and the dinner cruise are performed by the same company, I believe. Trying to purchase the season pass was a nightmare. I called the number listed online, but the person who finally picked up the phone didn't know if they sold season tickets. She then transferred me to a different person who was supposed to be able to help. This person didn't know if they sold season tickets either, so she transferred me to the manager who "probably wasn't there, so leave a message, and he may call you back." To make a long story short, I finally figured out that the season passes were not some mythical concept, but they were not sold online like the regular tickets. I had to drive out to the office from Redding (approx. 20 min), and buy them there. It took a little while once I got there for the front desk employees to figure out that they could sell season passes (even though it says so right on the webpage), but I finally did get one. Trying to buy a gift certificate for the dinner cruise was even more frustrating. The employees at the front desk on two occasions insisted that these certificates don't exist. I left a message for the manager, and he called me back and left a message as well. He assured me that buying the tickets and having them mailed to me was possible. After a few more unsuccessful attempts to reach the manager, I decided to drive out and buy these tickets in person. This part was not his fault. when he did call back, I was working and missed the calls. The real nightmare was when I got to the office and tried to buy the tickets. The person at the front desk did not "think they could do that," so she paged a manager. The manager was not available for 10-15 minutes, so we sat around and waited. During this time, a manager walked through the office to the front desk, so I got back in line to talk to him. When it was my turn to talk to the clerk, she paged the manager again, but he was unavailable again for another "10 min or so," even though we just saw him (name tags). At this point, I was fed up and left. Just to be clear, I haven't actually gone on the dinner cruise; this is simply the story of what happened when I tried to buy tickets as a gift. The caverns and cruise may themselves be awesome, but the customer service is horrible, at least in this case. I don't really blame any of the employees that I spoke with. I have worked customer service jobs before, and I know full well that many companies do not care about their customers or their employees. They provide minimal training and overwork their employees to the point that they don't have time to care about their jobs. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of these companies that just cares about the bottom line, and nothing else. I really hope that I am mistaken, and that my experience is an anomaly. I just thought I should say something so that both customers and the company itself are aware of potential service shortfalls. read more

I was a bit skeptical on the concept when I heard the food comes on a seperate boat, but after we got underway, it was a lot of fun. Everyone brought their own alcohol and they all seems to enjoy themselves. The cruise went south on the lake and eventually cruised up under the VFW Bridge, close enough to touch. Dinner started with a nice asiago artisinal bread served with 'cave dip'. Then a salad course either green or fruit. Then the second boat, a floating kitchen, pulls up, the hot food is handed over, and the meal really begins. Two types of shrimp, lemon chicken, tri tip. Plus two types of potato salad ( the red, white, and blue was the one to go for). Plus a few other cold dishes. It is buffet style, all you can eat. I think the cruise, watching the other boats pass and wave, the big mountains on both sides of the lake, the sunset, and the fresh breeze made it special. Very friendly staff, efficient service, attentive. Cruise ends just after dark so think about bringing a flash light. The stairs from the boat to the parking lot is long. Great evening. read more

We booked this cruise to celebrate our anniversary and had the worst dinner experience we have ever had in our 32 years of marriage. We were told to arrive at 5:30 and that the cruise started at 6:00. You could either stand up in the air conditioned gift shop or sit at picnic tables in the hot Redding sun to wait for the cruise. We waited to go out in the heat until 6:00 to avoid the heat as much as possible. But the shuttle down to the cruise didn't arrive until 6:50! We waited in the heat with many elderly couples without a single word of explanation from the staff. The cruise finally got going at 7:00 pm and about 40 passengers were served by two servers. First, bread was passed out. We waited for the butter, but none ever came. Finally we asked the servers and they said there was no butter. By then the bread was dry, but we ate it anyway because we were very hungry. We cruised for awhile and sodas were passed out to most of the passengers, but our side of the table was skipped and it was difficult to get the servers help once we realized that we were not going to get our sodas. The food was delivered by a different boat at about 7:30. The potato salad and a sort of quinoa salad was not put on the buffet line until about 1/4 of the guests had already served themselves. We were next in line when the two salads were finally put on the buffet table, but there were no serving spoons! We waited for about 5 minutes as someone in the food boat dug around and finally found one spoon. My husband took a small salad bowl that was extra on one of the tables and put it in the other salad as a serving device. We noticed salad dressing and asked what it was for. We were told that it was for the green salad, but they didn't have a serving bowl for it so they weren't going to serve it. We could hardly enjoy the beautiful views because we were so disturbed by the events that had happened to us. read more
