I cannot believe how rude this man was to me. I chose this shop for the good reviews I saw on Yelp, but Boris treated me horribly throughout my experience. I came to get an estimate for replacing my front bumper and headlight after my neighbor backed into my parked car. When I first pulled up to the shop, he got upset with me because I bumped into one of his rubber cones when I parked. He made an angry gesture at me and asked me what I was doing there as if I didn't deserve to be on his property. My boyfriend and I (I am a woman) got out of the car, and even though I was driving, he turned to talk to my boyfriend instead of me and barely acknowledged me. Even when I asserted myself as the owner of the vehicle, he directed all of his questions at my boyfriend. The entire interaction consisted of him undermining my knowledge of the car and what happened. He insinuated that I was stupid for going to him to get an estimate when I already got a quote from my neighbor's insurance. I tried to explain to him that the insurance company already told me that their estimate would be lower than the actual cost. He literally shushed me to get me to stop talking. Posting a second/updated review for Boris as I went back in to see him for some potential frame repair work a couple months back. The big thing I want to highlight here is that my review and other reviews were incorrect in saying Boris only accepts cash. He takes other forms of payment outside of credit cards. So you can also pay by check, cash, money order, etc. Just not credit card. I believe this also includes no debit cards, but I forgot to ask the specifics. The only reason he does this is to avoid the credit fees. After going back to Boris a second time for some potential work he admitted he would likely not be able to do he also informed me that he took these other forms of payments. As an added bonus, he also sent me to some other possible shops which would be more likely to help me with the work I was looking to get done. If I could give him a sixth star, I certainly would. It is pretty damn rare to find someone in the auto repair industry who will actually turn down work and money because they are not comfortable/positive they can deliver the result you're looking for. Original Post: Boris is a pleasure to deal with, an honest man and business owner, and he does great work. If you're in need of solid auto body work at an affordable price you have found the right place. As a car enthusiast/gear head/what have you I generally avoid taking my car into the shop in lieu of fixing or installing things myself. I enjoy working on my car, saving myself from the expenses of a shop's labor, and not having to deal with a shop or a dealership trying to sell me on additional work or parts I know I don't need (or can do myself). However body work is something I lack the time, space, tools, and experience to take on by myself. Boris was recommended to me by a very reputable suspension shop (Group 2 Motorsports) whom I deal with for my track tuning needs; I could not have been happier with his services. Boris is a very honest man. He will not bullshit you, give you the run around on price/schedule/etc, or try and talk you into additional services or repairs. If you go to him with something that needs fixing he will give you a very fair price to fix it. He will explain to you what parts will be required to make the repairs, give you a reasonable timetable, and a very fair price to get it all fixed. He takes any form of payment outside of credit card. I believe this also includes debit card. I was originally incorrect in thinking he took only cash, as other reviewers had stated the same. In my personal experience with Boris, he really went the distance in working with my schedule to get the repairs completed. I travel frequently for work and am out of town about 80% of the year. He allowed me to drop my car off on a weekend before leaving town and made sure to get everything fixed up before I returned the following Friday. He did a great job with the repairs and had everything finished up as promised by the time I returned. He also took the time to wash the exterior of the car for me (which obviously helps in making his work look all the better) before I picked it up. Always a nice touch as even dealerships have been downgrading to simply handing out coupons for a car wash post service work. When I thought I couldn't be happier in picking up my repaired car, on time, for the price we had agreed to; Boris stepped up further by offering to buy me some lunch before I left. So in closing - If you're looking for some solid, affordable, no BS body work on your car then you have found the right place. Give Boris a call, go in for an estimate, and allow him to fix your car. Because I wanted the job done in a shorter timeline (Boris works alone and had a lot to work on), I didn't end up going using this service. But I do want to express my experience here. When I got here, I had just scraped the side of my car and was hysterical. Boris talked me through the exact process of how it'd be fixed. As I was literally crying (a bit of a drama queen but I'm protective of my car), he literally sat and talked me down explaining that it is solely a cosmetic problem and can definitely be fixed. Most body shops I've experienced can be pretty standoffish and take advantage of how desperate you may be to fix the problem. Without going too much into detail, he goes above and beyond in his customer service to help allay concerns and provide wisdom to his customers. Living in the neighborhood and the wonderful reviews of Boris and Lake Union Autobody, it was a no brainer to bring my car here. Boris was friendly and honest through the whole experience. I brought my car in to have the door repainted because it had a large scratch, and I wanted the bumpers repaired, they were pretty dinged up from living on capitol hill for a year. The quote he gave me was close to half of what I was quoted by a place in SODO. I went here for an estimate to repair a bad scrape on my front fender from a parking lot hit and run. After reading the reviews here I called Boris. He totally lived up to my expectation and even more. Really gem of a guy. He did a fantastic job with my car door which was smashed by a garbage truck. He gave me some honest suggestions. He fixed my door for a much lower price than others and also did some other work for free.
