Love this community and love our Clubhouse. Yes they had some kinks to work out, especially after Covid, but they have hired a new GM and Dining Director and I see very positive changes. The food is very good, especially their burgers and fish and chips. I love the weekly specials as well. I bring visitors here all the time and they always enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Had lunch with friends on Saturday. Restaurant was pretty busy as we sat out on the deck. The service was really surprisingly prompt, they lit the heater immediately for my mother and the food was excellent. Had the fish and chips two of us, and I had the special burger which was fantastic. Great experience looking out at the course! read more

This review is for the Pine Room, which is the restaurant inside Lake Wildwood, a gated community outside of Grass Valley. My family has eaten here for over 20 years. My ex father in law owned a house there until he needed to go to assisted living a few years ago. He has always been like a father to me. He is 91 and loves to eat here. Over the years it has been hit and miss until now. The new chef is innovative and the food is delicious. My saffron noodles with prawns were wonderful. Dads salmon was cooked perfectly. We could not have been happier. The sad news was that there was only one other couple dining. A sign of the times, and a sign of too many iffy chefs until now. The dining room is pleasant. It over looks the golf course. A little jitney will come and pick you up in the parking lot if it is raining, or if you need a little extra assistance. What service! I do hope the word will spread and the dining room will fill up and the chef will get the accolades he deserves. You do not need to be a member to eat here. When you make a reservation, just tell them to call down to the main gate. They will then let you in under your name when you arrive. My Dad left smiling and content. Basking in the many memories of this place. We held his 90th birthday celebration here last year. How remarkable is that! read more

Lake Wildwood Association has several areas to Yelp about. I am talking at this time, only about the lounge at the club house. The bar tender is ok, slow at times, and not a lot of personality. Normally this is a rich stuffy place talking about golf and investments. The later, is not so good now a days. Tonight, I wanted something that was not on the menu, just chips and salsa. I have asked before and I was told, if it is not on the menu, I cant get it. I am so glad I am a Yelper now... LOL.. This time, they worked it... I got multi grain chips and some great salsa, and they only charged me $3 bucks. Leason learned... always ask, even outside of the box. I would give 4 stars for tonight.. Several friends bought relatively cheap lakefront lots at Lake Wildwood in the 1970s and sold them at high profits a few years later. I remember it as a decent housing tract area, but nothing special. read more

We just bought a home in Lake Wildwood and on Fathers Day weekend in 2020 we took our kids and grandkids to lunch at the Club House. We were blown away how beautiful the Club House was, we ate on the outside covered patio with an exceptional view of the golf course. The service was excellent and the Club manager came to our table and welcomed us to the neighborhood. The food was very good, we look forward to many good meals here, we will eat here often. Wanted to look at a home in the community and was put on the list to meet my realtor. The security shack was soooooooo nasty, wouldn't let us in to park, stated not on the list & lectured us about realtors should know they must be in our car and they'll learn. She was so snotty we left. Who wants to live in a place like that ? Poor homeowners trying to sell! Good luck!!!! They're going to need it!!! No wonder they have so many foreclosures, no one can get in to look! read more

This community is probably the most secure spot I've seen in a while. We were visiting Mike's grandparents to celebrate his grandfather's 92nd bday and arrived after a long drive from SD at 4:40am. The grandparents forgot to call the guards to notify then we were coming, and the guards would not let us in. Even after Mike's dad came out to tell them it was ok, they would not let us in. Instead, we had to park at the community shopping center and drive back in Mike's dad's car since it had the sticker that lets you in the gate. We ate at the restaurant at the golf course and it was just ok. The only part I liked was getting shuttled to the restaurant from the parking lot. While we were there, we saw a lot of turkeys and deer roaming around the residential areas. The lake is beautiful and secluded. read more

My husband's aunt and uncle own a house in Lake Wildwood and we have been up to visit them on many major holidays (Thanksgiving and Easter typically), but most especially for the 4th of July. Why the 4th of July, you ask? Because the Lake Wildwood Association puts on the most amazing fireworks show I have seen outside of a Disney park. That's high praise coming from a Disney freak like me. We are talking a full half hour of fireworks with a pre-finale halfway through that makes you think it is over and then it keeps going. And the actual finale is mindblowing. Plus, since you either need to be a homeowner or a guest of a homeowner, the crowds are always pretty manageable and you never have to worry about people being too rowdy or trampling your kids. Since everyone is accountable to their neighborhood or their hosts everyone is generally pretty polite and well behaved. We also really enjoy the multiple parks, some with sand beaches right on the lake with bouyed off swim areas. The bathrooms at these parks are all pretty clean and well stocked and are actual bathrooms. Going out on the lake is a special treat since it is so beautiful here and if you like to look at real estate, the lakefront houses are gorgeous for ogling as you float by. According to my husband's uncle the houses range in price from the 100,000s to the multimillions depending on how big the house is and its proximity to the lake. The Homeowner's Association dues are more reasonable than some of the HOA neighborhoods out where we live and none of those have a lake, gated security or a huge fireworks show. He said that only owners can put a boat with an engine out on the water though, so if you are a guest the best you can do is a paddleboat, canoe, etc. Moral of the story is to hang out in Grass Valley or Nevada City and make friends with a Lake Wildwood homeowner if you can't buy there. Or do like me and marry into a family who lives there. ;) read more

I was at the gate trying to pick up my nice from her mothers after working a long day. The security person was talking with the person in front of me (they were laughing and talking). After several mins I made a loud cough hoping it would speed up the line. The guard then mocked my coughing, and the person got out of his vehicle and cursed at me and threatened me. Once I pulled up to the gate the guard proceeded to tell me (in a loud tone) I'm rude and had no right to act like that , she said he lives here and that she was going to file a complaint against me. I said the line is 4 cars behind me and I'm just trying to pick up my niece. Then she said ,well he was filing a complaint. I asked to be let in and she continued to let me know (for another several minutes before letting me in) That a complaint would be logged against me, That I was just a visitor and I needed to wait until she was done with her conversation. Very unprofessional customer service (no matter the circumstances) in my opinion. I'm new to the area and will at every opportunity tell everyone not to move into a community that has this kind of customer service! Our parents have lived in Lake Wildwood for over 20 years. We have always enjoyed coming up and staying with them and enjoyed many wonderful times and meals at the Clubhouse. Alas, we found out that the Clubhouse is closed. So, this last Sunday, Mother's Day, we had reservations for the brunch held in the newer Community Center next to the lake. Our hopes were high and bolstered by memories of the wonderful buffets held in the old clubhouse, and looked forward to another good meal with family and friends. Boy, were we wrong!!! We arrived on time at our reservation time. We were required to make reservations as they expected a full house on Sunday for their Mother's day brunch. After about a half hour seated at our table, things started to go downhill. They did take our order and disappeared into the kitchen. Then, we waited. And waited. And waited. Waiters came by and gave half the table water, then walked away, leaving the other half with none. The same happened with the coffee service. I walked up to the kitchen and asked if they were going to serve the rest of our group coffee and water. They came back and did that, then came around a little later to refill our coffee. One sip and we could tell there was something dreadfully wrong with the coffee. They had refilled our coffee cups with hot tea. Again, I went over and asked to be served coffee and tell them their waitstaff got their coffee pots mixed up. They came by and apologized and gave us fresh coffee. Then, we waited again. One hour and forty-five minutes later, the kitchen supervisor, or non-supervisor came to our table and apologized for the delay and said that in 10 minutes they would be starting our meals, we asked how long that would be, and she said, "oh, another half hour after that we would get our food". We looked at each other and agreed to leave immediately. We left en masse and drove over to the grocery store for ingredients and met at one our fellow attendees home and made ourselves our own brunch. We had excellent food for a fraction of the cost of what it would have been at the community center, and had a lovely venue with great conversations to enjoy it in. I am glad that our family is planning to move out of Lake Wildwood sometime later this year, as I have no intention of ever again attempting to eat a meal prepared by the mismanaged and incompetent service that is apparent at the Community Center. Security to Keep People Out or Maybe Inside? I had set up an appointment to enter Lake Wildwood Association to see an item that someone was selling. The seller requested my last name so he could call it into the check station. I arrived on time and got in line to pass through the guard station. They had no listing of me, asked me to spell my simple last name and to also pronounce it (that had never happened before and they asked several times - how do you think you spell Black or pronounce it?). They even called the resident and they came back and said that they didn't know me or expect me. I had to go to a side parking lot, call the seller who said this frequently happened. I told the seller that I was no longer in the mood to consider the purchase, afer the fiasco and driving almost 60 miles that day to be in the area. The guard did come over to the car and indicated that they had found my info and I could go in. Indicated I was leaving. I wasn't going to attempt to do a U turn in the busy area where everyone was returning from work or visiting - there was a line of cars!.... I know others who live in this gated community, and I really have no desire to visit or return there. It is like entering a prison. When looking for property in the general area, I never considered Lake Wildwood as I would never consider a condo, townhouse or gated community where there is a monthly fee as it just adds to costs and really isn't necessary; I did find the home prices inexpensive there, but would never pay that or any monthly fee. Very disappointed that it was so difficult to enter, with an appointment from the resident who had even called my info into the guard station...... I don't think I want to return in the future if I had other invites to visit people I know, attend a function/party, etc. :-( read more

Today I had lunch in the new lake wildwood club house. First the service, it was terrific. The waiter was personable and attentive the menu choices were explained and once our order was placed the wait was relatively short. The menu choices included a nice selection of salads the entrees however were primarily beef or pork choices. I had the curry chicken sandwich (a non meat choice) and it was delicious. The golf course views were terrific. I am anxious to next time try dinner. read more
