Located just a few minutes from the beach, I stopped in here to grab a latte and The sweater weather latte was recommended by the barista.. it was definitely a hit! The coffee shop is so cute and inviting. In addition to coffee, I ordered the avocado toast and after one bite, threw it in the garbage. Unfortunately, it was made with an avocado that had gone bad and it was very obvious. I didn't feel like turning around to return it but wish that they had taken more care to present fresh and edible food. If I'm in the area again, I will go back for coffee but probably would skip the food.

After a "no go" at the nearby Dunkin', I was super pleased to find this fabulous little coffee shop! Inside, friendly service and lots of seating where I was able to plug in with my laptop and get about two hours worth of emailing done before it was time to move along. Great looking breakfast items and my large coffee was excellent. Delicious rich coffee, comfortable seating and a neat spot. Well worth the time here. This is a cute coffee shop serving drinks (coffee and non), various pastries, and breakfast and lunch options. You order at the counter and if you dine in (seat yourself), they'll give you a table number and bring your order to you. My sourdough egg sandwich was dry - I wish there would've been an aioli, mayo, etc. Overall, it is a cute place. There are paintings for sale upstairs, and plenty of seating options indoors and outdoors. My only gripe is the prices are expensive for such tiny portions!

UPDATE: In the last year or so this place was bought by a long time employee and is now Lakeshore Cafe. Along with the name change came a distinct change, and clear attempt to upscale, the decor and overall vibe. Admittedly when I walked in and saw the loss of my beloved for twenty years-super casual-beach bummy-shorts tee shirt n dockers-exposed heavy timbered-often sanctuary transformed into something slightly more toward egg harbor cafe (with padded cream colored, chairs and soft white shades everywhere) I was a horrified. The folksy feel of tables in front of the store have been moved to a larger area in back and admittedly this has the potential to earn more revenue but will more revenue actually come (In my recent visit the area sat unused)? I was prepared to hate it--OK, I don't quite "hate" the new decor but will still say it was not an improvement over the original, just a different opinion of the new owner (and maybe the influence of an interior designer wanting a portfolio pic)--but nevertheless the overall experience is still positive with very well prepared food--and still--good coffee--though I do "extremely dislike" they got rid of some of the coffee varieties they had regularly. So, yes, I will still come, I just won't look forward to it quite as much as I did before--and that means I may make an alternate choice which could be a killer for a small business. I guess the moral of the story could be: "Don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg." (or upscale it so you lose what made everyone love it).

Great local casual breakfast and coffee shop! I had the Milky Way Frappuccino. It was delicious and the perfect size! For breakfast I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese bagel breakfast sandwich. It was delicious! It came with an apple or chips as the side. The employee at the counter wasn't consistent with orders. She didn't ask me if I wanted a side but asked every one else in my party and she forgot to give one person in my group a number. Overall, very cute coffee shop, with a good amount of breakfast and coffee options!

We walked to this coffee shop from our AirBnb. Cute atmosphere, lots of food and drink options, and great service. Breakfast sandwich and coffee were both delicious. We will visit again when we're back in the area.

Yikes. So they hired a new person at the register. The line is out the door but he cannot be bothered to move at any speed.

Opted for rye toast (in lieu of pancakes) and a side of cottage cheese. Water to drink. Was asked if i wanted butter on the toast. After asking if they use butter or margarine, it was confirmed they use margarine. So toast was ordered dry and I would be required apply butter by opening the small "whipped butter" packets inborder to enjoy some buttered rye toast . The Omellette was ok taste-wise...but the entire time eating it my mind is questioning if I'm consuming eggs cooked in margarine? Then I'm thinking of the experiment where I placed an unwrapped stick of margarine on a dish in my garage for 2 weeks and observed that not an insect, rodent or any other living creature disturbed the lab born condiment...completely untouched orbdisturbed.. and thus I haven't poisoned my body with that garabage ever since...until possibly now??? Place was dirty with soot on the window sill at my booth. Bill comes and is over $20...highest price I've paid for that meal anywhere, which i order from various establishments a few times a week (including the 5 egg omellete establishments). Then I'm asked "cash or card?" Then informed that DEBIT card is another upcharge of $1.40, or so. The "how was everything" converstaion deserved a comment from me about the ridiculous price I'm paying for some eggs. The off-putting, I assume, owner steps in, then starts trying to justify the upcharges that resulted in a $26 omelette (by the time i threw in a $5.00 tip). This guy continued trying to convince me that he has the lowest prices and best quality...blah blah blah...trying do hard convince me his price chiseling way of doing business is justifiablr. Oh, well, could it be that I feel my arteries are clogging with margarine as i write this? Oh well..won't visiting this place again.

Our group started with the pierogi appetizer, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly fried with a crispy exterior and topped with sour cream, bacon, and onions. Super flavorful and hit the spot! For dinner, I ordered the Chicken & Bacon Jam Sandwich with sweet potato fries. While the chicken itself was tender, the bacon jam was much sweeter than I expected and ended up overpowering the sandwich. I was hoping for more of a savory flavor. The bottom bun also soaked up quite a bit of oil, making it pretty soggy and messy to eat. The sweet potato fries weren't quite my style either because they were heavily coated in sugar and tasted more sweet than savory. Unfortunately, neither is something I'd order again, even though both sounded great on the menu. We visited during a busy Saturday dinner rush, so our food took a while to arrive, but our server was friendly, attentive, and acknowledged the delay, which I always appreciate and understand! We sat outside on the patio, which was a fun place to spend the evening. The only thing I noticed was that there wasn't any music playing outdoors like there was inside, and I think that would have added a little more energy to the space. Overall, I don't want to knock this place too much because I genuinely think it's a great spot for Michigan City. Between the local beer selection, large menu, welcoming atmosphere, and outdoor seating, it's definitely worth a visit! I'd happily come back and try some different menu items next time!

We stayed at this inn for our anniversary weekend and came all the way from Indianapolis…read more We ultimately enjoyed our stay and had a great anniversary, but encountered some functional problems during our stay. We stayed in the Jo's Sunset room. We were warned that the jacuzzi buttons would be sticky, and they were. It was very hard to get them to turn on at all, almost next to impossible, and it would've been nice to have this be an easier experience. The sink in the bathroom didn't seem to want to drain at all. My fiancé went downstairs to talk to someone about it (I believe his name was Shaq) and he was very friendly but informed us it was something that couldn't be fixed during our stay. Luckily my fiancé is a plumber and he was able to clean out the drain himself. He says that after he cleaned it out it was still draining slow but was better than not draining at all. We also asked Shaq about how to turn on the main ceiling light and fan in our room because we couldn't figure it out the first night. He told us that it actually didn't work at all in our room. The first night was really warm so it was unfortunate to not have the fan working. Shaq was able to find us a plug in fan for our second night which we really appreciated! When we checked out Sunday morning we were asked if we were checking in for the breakfast that was provided with our stay. I was so disappointed to find out as we were leaving that breakfast was actually included. When I had made the reservations online, everywhere on the website and on my receipt said that breakfast stops being included after Labor Day so we just went off of that, and weren't informed on breakfast information when we checked in the first day... However we did go to a breakfast place called Memo's both mornings but it would've been nice to know that breakfast wouldn't had been an extra expense on our trip. The first night we had our anniversary dinner inside the inn and it was amazing. The service, food, drinks, and experience were so worth it. The three minute walk to the beach was also a very great addition to our time spent there. We also didn't realize folding chairs were provided to take to the beach. We found these under the bed as we were making sure we had all of our belongings for check out. When we had walked to the beach both days we kept mentioning how we would've liked to have had chairs to sit on so that was a little disappointing to find out after the fact as well. We really did enjoy the stay and these issues were minor but eventually added up. If these were fixed it would be an absolutely amazing stay.
