    Cardinal Pond
    Haley E.

The happiest place on Earth! I've been coming with my family every summer since 1991. We usually stay in the Golden Trout as it is the only cabin big enough to fit all of us. There is no wifi, no cell phone service and no television. It's wonderful. We fish, play yard games, play card games, nap, read. Truly an amazing experience. Every cabin except the dry cabins are equipped with a kitchen, so you can bring your own food and cook or you can go to the onsite restaurant for breakfast and lunch, pizza is open on select nights. Cardinal pond is stocked, but it's also a short drive to nearby lakes with plenty of fishing. There is an old gold mine you can hike to, and if the summer is warm enough, you can get in the water at bishop creek. Their cabins are moderately rustic, you're not staying at the ritz! Each cabin has a picnic table and fire pit, but we always bring chairs and folding tables. 10/10- I HIGHLY recommend

Our grandson loved the pepperoni pizza.

Our family visits Cardinal Village every year we go to our cabin in Silver Lake. We love driving to different areas in the Sierras. We came here on a Sunday because they have bands from 1:00-4:00. We bring our own chairs because the tables are taken fairly quickly. We buy our lunch there and sit and relax listening to the band. They have activities to do there. There are corn hole boards with bean bags and horseshoes. It's a great place for adults and kids. This year we decided to order their Pepperoni Pizza that make there and it was very good. There is a pond down a short path that's fun to see with the kids. They have a large grass area that's perfect for kids to run around. They do rent out cabins, we've never stayed there but they are rustic log cabins. Pretty area to drive and hike.

A retired gold mining camp, converted to a fishing resort? No cell service, no television, very limited wifi, in the middle of nowhere? They completely pulled it off. We stayed here to attend a wedding and decided to book a few extra nights so we could check out the area. There is NOTHING as far as the eye can see other than mountains and sagebrush/tumbleweeds. But this place is nestled nicely alongside a small aspen forest. Mule deer abound and if you look for it, there are ponds, lakes, rivers and streams all around. It's always a good sign when the owners are onsite, and I believe we saw Shale Anne and/or Ken working everytime we visited the main office. Additionally, Mattie provides exceptional, friendly service at the office and general store. Tilly is a powerhouse who oversaw the rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception. We stayed in the Baboon cabin and it was perfect. Nice front porch, and an exceptional back porch area with a good size table, 4 chairs, a fire pit and a really nice BBQ. Hot water worked great and the unit also had a 3/4 size refrigerator, huge microwave, a toaster, sink and an electric griddle. Bed was very comfortable. The night sky was breathtaking as was the mountain hovering above us. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe but they looked like they had a steady flow of customers. This place is a real gem and we look forward to our next visit.

Wow wow wow! Truly amazing place and a must visit when near the area. Location: we stopped by this place when visiting bishop. Good amount of parking here and it's pretty easy to find! There is a wonderful shop attached to the restaurant as well as a lovely outside area to explore. Food: we had the omelette which was so fantastic. Potatoes that came with it as well. Coffee and water are self serve with a cool option to have coffee for life if you purchase their mug available for sale. Staff are amazing and so helpful/friendly. Truly a one of a kind experience you won't find anywhere nearby!!

Cardinal Village Resort is simply the best family-oriented venue in the State! The cabins are mostly 'gold rush' era, but have been modified to be classy, comfortable and clean, clean, clean! They have planned activities, or they just leave you to the beauty of the Eastern Sierra. Your call! The clientele is respectful and no associated noise or drama. My son and I went up for a short fishing trip and stayed in the "Baboon" cabin. We have previously stayed in the "Hungry Packer" cabin. The owners/employees make you feel like family! From the desk, to the cashiers, to the cleaning ladies, their love of the property and the land shines through and you INSTANTLY begin to relax! I even forgot a sweatshirt when we checked out and they MAILED it to me, no fuss or muss! I have stayed all through the Eastern Sierra, and Cardinal Village Resort is my favorite. They even have Wi-Fi now! I'm an old 'get-off-my-lawn' retired copper and VERY picky! Cardinal Village is awesome! Don't believe me? Stay and find out. I dare ya!!!

What an amazing place! I have been coming up to Bishop for over twenty years. We've stayed at a number of resorts/camp sites. Each has had their own bit of awesomeness, but hands down Cardinal Village Resort is our favorite! The cabins are just right! They have every amenity you need, and even a few you don't! The property is nestled between two large mountains and is the epitome of gorgeous. Multiple streams are walking distance from the property, and they are filled with trout, naturals and planters. South and north lake are just a few minutes away. This is probably the most central resort in the mountains to everything you want to do. You will see deer walking right by the camp, and they have two dogs that are friendly and add to the experience. The general store and cafe have great food and everything you need! Clint at the store is knowledgeable and beyond friendly. Tilly and girls who work in the cafe and around the property are sweet as can be. We have already booked our trip for next year at Cardinal!

One of our families favorite places! We have spent the last 5 years here for the Christmas festival. This year we attended the Fall Hoorah which was awesome! It's fun for al ages; our group is 4-72 years old! The cafe never lets us down! Their burgers are cooked to perfection and the homemade cinnamon rolls are a must!! We truly love the Cardinal experience from ice skating to rock hunting we plan to return for many years to come!

One of our families favorite spots Not far from Bishop, Cardinal Village is a great place to play, eat and relax. Beautiful views from the restaurant deck. Large grass area for visiting if you bring a large group or family. Nice hike from the cabins. Recently our family had relatives from Minnesota visit us in Bishop. The waitress that helped us was the Best and I know she is one of many great waitresses we have had here. The cook was so on it, we had a party of about 17 and we all were able to eat about the same time and it was delicious (we have never had a bad meal here).

My best friend got married here this past weekend. Gotta say this place was amazing. Not only was the location naturally beautiful but the staff was so accommodating. Mind you this resort is not a wedding venue. They might have had a hand full of weddings my friends included. But they did everything they could to help us out. We had the rehearsal there was well and we were lucky enough to enough their brick oven pizzas. They were amazing! Definitely recommend the bacon and date pizza! I would love to come here again and rent a cabin and just relax and enjoy the scenery. If you're looking for a place to stay in bishop highly recommend this place. Cabins were spacious and super clean! It's a close drive to hikes and fishing. They also have a little lake on the property that you can fish in if you want or have little ones!

    Camp ground!

We stayed in the Thunder cottage this year, which has a kitchen and a bathroom with all your basic needs. We love it here so much because there's so much for our kids to do you can including checking out DVDs & games and even a sand box There is also Safe hikes for the family. We come every year!

Pros: The entrance is nice. I can tell they upgraded it recently. Looks clean and I can see the effort made to make it nice. They have water and ice in the lobby, which is nice. The fitness room is decent for a motel. Breakfast isn't much but it's filling. It works. It's toast, cereal, bagels, egg whites, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, milk, peanut butter, jelly, cream cheese and coffee. It's not gourmet but it works. The breakfast place is nice, clean and upgraded. I do feel like they try their best to make this place comfortable. The effort shows. I love that the entrance to the rooms is indoors. It's walking distance to restaurants and the park. I'm assuming this is the downtown. I had a dog and they were very friendly and accommodating. I love that they have a bathtub. I have toddlers so it was a nice way to bathe them. Plenty of parking. Cons: One of the major disappointments for me is the wifi. It's extremely slow. This is a big major point for me because I have to work on my laptop and when videos aren't loading it's difficult to work. The doors look old and outdated. It just lowers the aesthetic. There are no elevators, which I already knew. I can overlook that though, my main compliant is the WiFi, especially for the price.

This was our first time and we had our dog so finding a pet friendly hotel that's decent, is always a challenge. This one checked all the boxes. It's close to the bakery and walking distance to other fast food and eateries. Parking can be tricky if you get there too late. But there were more spaces on the other side that we didn't know about until we walked our dog. There's also a bowling alley nearby. We only stayed for one night and it really was more like a 12- hour stay but it was enough to get rested, fed and our room was comfortable. The breakfast selection was pretty well stocked. It's a grab and go style so we were able to take it on the road with us. I would consider staying here again.
