This was a simple job for an annual checkup on the hydronic heating system. Took several weeks to get an appointment, another week to get a bid, and was impossible to contact to discuss the bid particulars. Rudy claimed one of my heating zones was not working and needed replacing...odd because we have not noticed any issues with any heat zones. His bid claimed other parts were also not working. After another week of trying but being unable to discuss this with Rudy, I got a message from his office person that he was refusing to do the job. If I could give a zero rating, this company would deserve it. The new company taking over was nice on the initial call, but has since dropped the ball. There are enough other HVAC companies to use in Tahoe...none of which get negative reviews like this company has.

He went over my system with me, and found it needed no repairs...and then he didn't charge me. He is turning the business over to his proteges now, and is teaching them the value of taking care of customers and integrity foremost. What a wonderful person to learn from. He said to show him the other estimates and then he would consider if he could beat their prices and do the work. He said his company is very busy, and selective about the jobs they choose. I think he was just looking for $$$. He never sent an estimate, and when I followed up with him about it, he said, "I thought you were going to send me the other estimates, so I could see if we could beat their price." I think he wasted our time, and felt we wasted his. I did not think this was good customer service at all. Their work may be great, but you cannot be so dismissive to potential customers.

They quickly varied issues with the thermocouple and thermopile. The tech had the parts on his truck and changed them out. Then he did a full on service and cleanup of everything. It now works and looks like new, all included in the flat rate repair. We did not have to pay anything up front. They sent us a bill by email for payment by credit card or check, trusting their customers to make payment. This is a refreshing approach to business in Truckee.

Before authorizing the repair, I asked for the part and labor cost. He said they "don't price jobs this way", they only quote "by the job". I authorized, against my better judgement because he was already at my property and had diagnosed. Johnny called me back in 15 minutes to tell me it was completed. I called Danny when I received the bill. He said the part was $35, but Johnny stated it was $25 in the invoice. Go figure!! So $270 was for 15 minutes of labor to replace the angle stop. This was a total scam. I asked Danny if he could revise the charge. He told me that another plumber maybe could have provided me "a better discount". "Better?", I asked. What discount did Danny provide? Notta! I would not trust GPI and how they "charge by the job and do NOT disclose the cost of the part or labor up front." Johnny knew he could replace that part in about 10 minutes and still threw out the absurd cost of $295! Call any other plumber but not GPI! Johnny told me someone had turned down the hot water under the sink and that when he turned it back up, it leaked and needed this angle stop replaced. I never turned down the hot water under the sink because I didn't even know that I could. Now I highly doubt there was even a leak. I never noted any dripping under the sink! Danny claimed that Johnny was there longer at my home because he was trying to reach me by phone. But Danny gave Johnny the wrong number for me. Not my problem !! These guys are a joke! If I had only took the time to see their numerous TERRIBLE REVIEWS. What Con Artists! I will also turn GPI into the Better Business Bureau!
