Terrible service -- truly awful. The food was fine, but the service completely ruined the experience. I would not recommend this place.

Was leery because of stars but decided to roll the dice . Was pleasantly surprised. Service and breakfast was good . Coffee was great also . Took donuts home for the kids .

Stopped by this diner on my way from work because it's conveniently located right off exit 34 on the Merritt parkway. Lakeside diner been open since 1951; Inside has a retro aesthetic. It is by the side of Holts Ice Pond providing a nice dine in view. My job bought us their fresh homemade donuts a few times, but it's my first time walking in. I didn't realize this was cash only, so I had a to run back to my car to get some. I ordered the special with bacon, fried eggs, home fries, and French toast to go, because I knew I'd be late for work. The portion only came with two pieces of bacon. Even with the salt and pepper packets, my food was bland. The home fries were soft, almost like mashed potatoes. Both my toast and French toast was a bit soggy. I wasn't impressed with their breakfast today, I am willing to give them another try.

Friendly staff and fantastic view of a large pond from the dining area. Classic American menu. Steak hoagies, onion rings, donuts, and sandwiches look great. Don't go here for the salad which is pretty basic and overpriced (The chicken meat in the grilled chicken option was very dry and the portion was very small).

    Pond view

Lovely little diner with a pretty view of a little pond. Plenty of comfy breakfast and lunch choices. My "Grecian" omelet was generously stuffed with spinach and feta. Cash only!

I never really understood the apparent obsession folks seem to have with diners, until now. The minute I walked into Lakeside I was transported to childhood smelling morning breakfast scents and sitting in cushioned banquettes. The atmosphere is perfect with the hustle and bustle of the counter, staff and kitchen. There are no fancy banquettes to be found here but there are as many chair+table combos as can fit in this cozy, small restaurant. The menu consists of breakfast classics like pancakes, French toast, and egg omlettes and they also have specials and specialty items like 2 types of fresh homemade doughnuts. The portion sizes were perfect for me and most of my company. If you're a big eater or a "gym-bro" bulking on protein and calories I'd recommend ordering two entrees or the steak and eggs and some sides. A lot of their menu ranges between $8 to just under $20 so you won't be breaking the bank here. Nothing fancy, but it's clean and hits the spot. Service was nice & friendly even if sometimes a bit hectic but 'twas nothing that can't be easily resolved. Swing by early in the day as they absolutely get super busy and people know it's worth the wait. The view of the lake is gorgeous and I definitely will be back! Hablan Español!

This is the best score for this place. Nice location, great views from inside on the lake. The food unfortunately less than 2 stars. The over easy eggs came burned and greasy. You could see that the pan is dirty and you could taste the oil is over burned. The home fries also came very greasy and burned. The blueberry muffin was the worst - too sweet, also greasy, only after one bite I could feel the horrible taste for half an hour. Service is 2-4 stars. I would definitely recommend to find another place for traditional breakfast

    Us enjoy this beautiful place

What will I say about this spot.. Well, to start it's a mom and pop spot. Feels warm and homie. You know the food is super fresh and made with love. The corned beef hash is made from scratch! The staff are all female. Beautiful people. Very nice, sweet and accommodating. Diner is very clean and up kept. I always go for Breakfast Or brunch. I keep it simple with their one of a kind Pancakes. They're thin, sorta like crapes but Pancakes! They taste so delicious.. So I get that with scrambled eggs and toast.. Slamming! Their Milk Shakes are amazing as well.. But there's no way you can leave without getting their fresh Apple cider Donuts! OMG So delicious So if you wind up in the CT area make sure to hit this spot up. You can thank me later! Have a great one everyone!

Had the pleasure of visiting this place. Very great donuts the cinnamon sugar and the plain homemade donuts are the dot com. The people were very nice in there. As your sitting there you can see the wildlife in the lake have a relaxing time. It's very relaxing to watch as your dining. Try to take a window seat if you plan to go

A great old and small diner. Stop for breakfast during our road trip. French toast, home fried and sausage links were excellent.

The little local diner with a great view of ducks on the lake. Usual diner fare. Dealbreaker for ever returning is it's CASH ONLY policy.

Visiting the area from Los Angeles for business so I really wanted a diner for a dinner option. My…read moreserver was very polite and the free parking lot in back was easy but it was not my favorite diner experience of the year. Inside is fairly small but the tables are large and can host groups up to six per table. They do have a giant menu filled with all sorts of options, some of them are pretty crazy, especially the influencer section of the menu. I started off with a cup of the chili and wasn't a huge fan of it. It tasted more like the Cincinnati chili and had a large amount of oil. For my entrée, I chose the cheesesteak and was hoping it was going to be like a traditional Philly style, but it wasn't quite. I liked it more than the chili but still made me wish that I ordered a tuna melt or something else. I would give it a try again on a future visit but would want to try it again before I recommend.

Today was the first time we've eaten here in years. We were seated immediately but we waited more than 40 minutes for the food to come. We watched people leave because they could not wait for their food any longer. At first, I thought a chef must have called out. When our food finally came, I was forced to look at the most unappealing home fries that were molded to the plastic container they were stored in. At least try to make them look fresh bru. And the whole restaurant was cold. I was cold. The food was cold. This place should be called COLD Street Diner, am I right? And the coffee refill came like once. In the whole hour and a half we were there. The only times someone would walk by was to clear a table, or that guy idk who he is idk if he's the owner but he was wearing balenciaga sweatpants and then he would just go stand by the register to sip on some wine. My mother ordered the huevos rancheros and they were bland asl. I ordered the birria omelette and it was BLAND EVERYTHING WAS BLAND!!! The birria was just wet it didn't taste like anything bro. We haven't been to the Norwalk location but a lady sitting next to us noticed that we weren't happy with our food and she was speculating that all the good cooks got transferred there. Whether it's the cooks to blame, or the fact that it's a busy Saturday, it's safe to say we will not be coming back.

Great food , Great service Always a good experience…read more Courteous and fast service - family atmosphere!

I've practically lived at the Stamford Diner over the years, even spending entire work weeks…read moreworking remotely from here (pro tip: the free Wi-Fi is actually reliable and they have plenty of seating so you don't feel like you're overstaying your welcome). Location-wise, it's incredibly convenient--right off Exit 6 on I-95--and unlike most places around here, they have a massive private parking lot so finding a spot is never an issue. Inside, it's huge, but it still manages to keep that classic diner warmth. They also have a full-service bar with TVs if you just want to grab a drink and catch a game. At this point, I've tried practically every entree on the menu, and honestly, the food and service never miss. There's a reason this place was featured on *Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives*. A few personal standouts after coming here so often: * Breakfast & Soups: You can order breakfast all day, but do not overlook their housemade soups. We almost always grab a quart of the Chicken Noodle or the Chicken Matzoh Ball to go. * Salads: If you want greens, the signature salads are excellent. If you don't want meat, get the Arthur Avenue Salad (the fried eggplant and fresh mozz combo is perfect). If you want chicken, go for the Crispy Chicken Paillard or the Balsamic Chicken with mandarin oranges and crispy noodles. * Mains: If you love red meat, the ribs are so tender they literally fall off the bone. The Mediterranean dishes are also a major highlight--especially the Greek Gyro. And if you're craving seafood, the Seafood Fra Diavolo (shrimp, scallops, mussels, and calamari over linguini) has a fantastic spicy kick. As great as the food is, it's really the people that keep regulars coming back. The staff is incredible. Getting to know Laura and Ari has been the best part of eating here. They treat you like family the second you walk through the door. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite off the highway or looking for a regular neighborhood spot, you can't beat this place. Pro-Tip: When you're ordering take-out from here, do yourself a favor and use the Slice app. I stopped using the major delivery apps because their 20-30% commission fees just bloat the final bill for everyone. Slice is entirely dedicated to supporting local, independent spots instead of massive corporate chains, so the restaurant doesn't get hammered on margins and you aren't paying inflated prices. Plus, it's super easy to customize your order right through the app.

"I'll go back to the diner I'll write another letter…read moreI hope you'll read it this time" (Billie Eilish) I kind of laughed when our server brought over our menus. They were in a heavy book (reminded me of a high school yearbook) with six pages of choices plus an insert of daily specials. Post Road is the kind of diner that diner lovers dream of. Their menu is an embarrassment of riches and would seamlessly fit in alongside anything you would find on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island or on Route 17 in New Jersey. Three of us walked in around 11:30am today, and our first order of business was deciding if we'd go for lunch or breakfast food. We all went for breakfast plates- pancakes ($9.99) with a side of scrambled eggs ($2.99), GF Pancakes ($12.98), and for me a "Protein Breakfast" ($13.99) and a coffee ($3.49). So, I'm sure you're asking, "what on earth is a protein breakfast?' Well, it was four egg whites, a few gorgeous tomato slices, and a nice piece of grilled chicken. It was pretty filling and everything tasted great. Our server was efficient and professional and swiftly brought over a "to go" box for the excess of those enormous pancakes. The dining room is awesome, a real throwback to the 1950's with plenty of old-time booths, art deco neon signs, checkerboard ceramic tile, and music\entertainment\pop culture images everywhere. We really enjoyed our visit !
