Spent a nice day in the garden seating area here with the family and enjoyed a delicious burger. You would never know that this is a restaurant. When you walk in there's a little tchotchke store with gifts from cards to cookbooks, and children's toys. If you head to the register there will be a display full of baked goods and a menu where you can order burgers and fries. Once you order you can sit inside around the corner at booths or in the backyard where they have umbrella-covered tables. The seating is right next to a stream and the tables are surrounded by beautifully landscaped flowers. Our food came out quickly and our servers were super friendly and attentive. This place is super cute, wry friendly service, and speedy counter service. There was a big line to order breakfast at the counter on a Sunday morning, but it moved pretty quick. The baked goods looked great. We got a couple of plain croissants to go which we saved for the next day. The store is only open Friday - Sunday. We order to basic breakfast sandwiches - bacon, egg and cheese. The egg comes cooked "over hard" - no option to do it another way. We ordered the food to go because we had our dog with us, waiting in the car. They do not allow dogs on the outside patio. The store has a selection of wine, and cocktail mixers, a selection of gifts and housewares, plus lots of jarred delicious things...salsas, sauces, jelly, jams. I purchased a peach salsa...it was delicious! The breakfast sandwiches came out quite fast but they made them to eat in instead of to-go. We decided it was ok to stay and eat because there were tables at the front of the restaurant where we could see our puppy in the car. She was fine so we sat and ate our breakfast sandwiches. They came with a small selection of fresh fruit which was lovely and nice surprise. The potato buns were light and fluffy, the bacon was cooked crispy, but the egg was disappointing because it was barely warm. Am guessing they cook the eggs is big batches not made to order which is why the food came out so fast...they are assembled sandwiches rather than made to order. Honestly though...we didn't care, we enjoyed the sandwiches and the fruit. The atmosphere inside and on the patio is adorable. Total country store vibe...they even had paper red checkered napkins. Saw this gem on tik tok and was out in the area and wanted to check it out. It did not disappoint. It was an idyllic and charming farmhouse set off from the road. The moment I saw it my expectations were high and even higher still when I met staff starting to pull things for the day. Unfortunately, we hit the store about 30 minutes before they closed. Staff were friendly and helpful and loaded us up with sugar treats from the bakery. My candy loving self was in awe of all the oldies and goodie brands I grew up with like Razzles and pop rocks. Really enjoyed the Market and will definitely come out earlier. Heard their breakfast was pretty amazing and if it is anything like the bakery treats I am in for one great breakfast. The general store had many interesting and locally sourced items including a large selection of produce, plants, and given the late hours a few boutiques of flowers. Was so much fun to look and see things and know this is a place you have to go multiple times. read more

While staying at an airbnb less than a mile away, I learned about how this spot opened, and on my way out of town to visit friends, stopped in and grabbed a bunch of stuff to-go. After my 4 hour drive to my friends house, we tasted pretty much everything we got, and wow, everything was delicious. Not a single thing was bad. I wish their hours were a little different so you could go after 5pm, but, they clearly are making it work for them. 500% worth stopping in if you're nearby and they're open. read more

This is a little gem in the middle of nowhere. I understand they service folks who come in the summer to camp at the lake nearby. As such, they are a very versatile establishment; offering snacks, supplies, home decor, and food. The rest of the year, they are mostly utilized as a restaurant. The owners are super sweet and accommodating. There is a limited menu, but what they do, they do well. They have burgers and breakfast sandwiches. There is also a wine room, an outdoor eating patio, and the afore-mentioned supplies and home decor in the store. Little-known fact: one of the owners is the creator of Spookely the pumpkin (a kid's book/cartoon character). If you look closely, you can see Spookly characters around the store. It's a lead-pipe cinch that there isn't a more multifaceted business on this planet. For openers: the very finest breakfast sandwiches extant. Any and all of their breakfast sandwiches will render into non-existence lunchtime for that day. It's difficult to put into words how simultaneously delicious and outsized they are; you need to experience a Lakeside General Store breakfast to comprehend it. They serve luncheon fare, as well. Their newest is a muffaletta sandwich so faithful to the original (right down to the two layers of olive tapenade surrounding the cheese and the cold cuts) that you expect to hear a jazz band marching in the street. The store proper carries an eclectic mix of houseware, giftware, organic elixirs, specialty foods, and toys. These aren't the sorts of toys you see everywhere...these are the toys of your childhood, if you were extraordinarily lucky. Balsa gliders, wind-ups, fake "spilled ketchup" gags, and all forms of things you never knew you were missing. The presentation of these is flawless. Your meals can be enjoyed on their back patio, overlooking Cossayuna Lake. Prepare to not only enjoy your food, but to linger and converse as well. My wife and some friends decided to have a long overdue visit to this little country store for breakfast this past Sunday morning. We arrived at 9:00 am and the parking in front of the store was filled. No problem; we parked on the grass. The line for ordering was 5 deep, but moved fairly quickly. I had a delicious croissant (this is a real croissant, not the fake stuff you find in the supermarket freezer) with cream cheese and coffee; the other three all had the "General" - 2 eggs, cheese (ask for cheddar if you want it or you will get processed American) bacon and sausage, all loaded on to their own baked potato roll. I was fine with my croissant, but I took a bite of my wife's General. A delicious combo. It was raining pretty heavily, so the back patio tables weren't available. We sat in the small front of the country store where there were a few tables. We were lucky to get seats. The store serves the community with fresh take home items - milk, eggs, butter, bacon, bagels.... There are many shelves of eats and treats and momentos to purchase. In another part of the country store, they sell fine wines and an assortment of liquor. It's so great out in the middle of farm country to have this unique experience. It's like a twist of Greenwich Village set in the boonies. If you are visiting the area, it's well worth the stop. Check the hours on their website, as they change with seasons. read more

A wonderful country store with a city flavor.
