Do not go here, Mr Atkin whom owns the store calls the police on you so he can leave his cafe a half hour earlier on a holiday weekend with no signs in the window for out of towners. Here what happened: last month when I went to the cafe as I have been going since the day they opened. Now I don't live in the area but have family and property here . I sat down with my service dog and ordered a $20 dollar breakfast . Then I checked out all the funny sayings on the wall. Also introduced myself to his wife and gave her my business car as I had put a bid and had a contract on 30 East Main Street. She took my card. Then I purchased 50 dollars in cups of which I wrote a check from my business of 26 yrs, Black Rock Holistic Health Center. I sat with some nice people from Vermont had great conversations, was really relaxed and having a great time. Mr. Atkin came out at about 11:15 and said we closed at 11.. I said sir your front door says you close at 11:30. Meanwhile I have never met this guy ever in my life. I New prior owner whom is a wonderful kind WOMEN. Anyway he said we posted somewhere, not on the restaurant , some local thing I would have no idea about, we closing early. He was aggressive and rude and nasty all in one. Too much work in the kitchen Mr. Atkin. Then I said to the waitress I can go , but she kept saying I was fine don't worry, as I gave her a 10 dollar tip. Meanwhile it's only 11:20 and the waitress again says your fine. So as I am getting up 2 officers show up to speak to me. Are you serious, this asshome calls the police on a VIP client whom spent $80 dollar I am sure not your average spender in that type of place. What you got on the school of hard knocks, lol Bestt part is the county sheriff asks me if I know Philip DeMarco, I said yes that my dad, and I didn't know but apparently we are related through marriage and the cop couldn't stop praising my dad and said he was his hero and taught him everything there is to know about cattle.. And my dad was one of the biggest cattle dealers in NY state and Auctioneer. Anyway, apparently Mr. Atkin lied and said some girl, that be me, was saying she owned many businesses, really asshole this is not a crime. In fact I own 3, and I am a MULTI MILLIONAIRE and , been a doctor for 26 yrs. Oh and then He also lied about some guy said I pull my shirt up. Seriously !!!!!!! I had poison ivory and I lifted my shirt to to scratch it, oh and excuse, isn't this the 20th century!! I had a sports bra on under my t shirt which is usually what a I wear and most women in america when. It's hot and humid. Maybe your just a women hater. There is obviously something wrong with you!!! I don't know this guy, I believe my dad did business with his dad since he was a farmer and apparently Mr Atkin never got off the farm obviously. It seems to me Mr. Arkin you have a beef with the DeMarco name, saw that was my name and took the wrong actions. This is a warning next time I will sue you for defamation of character and being so agresive towards me. If your so unhappy maybe it's time to retire. Recommend Canteen Cafe instead!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beside the next day I went to the other breakfast place Canteen and it was the most elegant, delicious food and service. Was amazing and they have internet and everyone was so kind and nice and I only spent 15 dollars.. Time to retire dude and hand the restaurant over to someone who has manners and not grudges against innocent people whom spend $80 dollars at your little cafe. read more

I got a breakfast sandwich here and not only was my original order made wrong, the sandwich itself came out soggy. My daughter's toast was cold, the sausage patties were overcooked, and they only take cash. I also noticed staff in the kitchen without hats on. I was willing to give this place a try even though I still think I remember them attempting to host what felt like a distasteful event during the Cambridge mascot debate. I wanted to give them a fair shot despite questioning some of their community judgment, but overall the experience was underwhelming for a place serving pretty basic diner food. Stumbled across this town and was hungry. Saw this cute cafe and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. We help ourselves do a table in the back. I was server came out very casual he actually sat at our table to talk about the menu and specials. Glad he was comfortable. Service was quick, but the offering of coffee refills were not as fast. Had to flag him down a few times. Big portions ! Mixed feeling on the omelets that we ordered. I got the Ruben but in my head I was thinking please I hope they skip the sauerkraut. My fault here I should've asked before ordering. Other than that it was great. My husband got the farmers omelette and it was on the dry side. If you're being waited on in the front you'll get great service. We went several times and loved it. If you get put in the back room just leave. We went on a Sunday morning and seated in the back room. We got coffee then placed our order and waited for over an hour. We observed a window covered in cobwebs while we waited back there. We watched the waitress playing on two cell phones and eating in the back. We had to ask for more coffee twice then we watched 5 more tables get seated after us and they were all already eating their food when we finally decided to get up and leave. Only then when we said we were leaving she said "oh let me check on your order" We were turned off enough by the experience that we won't be going back. Too bad because the food was great. read more

Country Gals Cafe is consistently reliable for a good, filling, quality meal, all for a great value. I typically don't branch out on the menu too much because I have a few favorites and am excited to eat my tried and true omelettes or egg sandwiches, but I'm sure everything is pretty great. The omelettes are breakfast and lunch for me -- a "breakfast" at Country Gals usually keeps me full until dinner. They also serve Battenkill Creamery milk -- their chocolate milk is amazing and worth the purchase. On top of that, the service is friendly, attentive, and a wonderful sense of community. During COVID, we've also gotten carry out twice -- their food travels well and is worth the drive. read more

The layout of the place long shaped like classic diner, but the place looks updated and modern with hard wood floors and a long row of tables along the wall and high top tables in the front section. The menu offerings include the typical breakfast dishes & items including eggs, 3 egg omelets, pancakes, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, plus grilled & cold sandwiches, clubs, burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, salads, fries, onion rings, and sides. Specials posted on the board. Most dishes priced $3.75-$8.25. Takeout containers 25 cents. I stopped here for lunch recently and took a seat at an open table. I ordered the Grilled Reuben ($6.25) served with chips and a side of pasta salad ($2). The place was quite busy around noontime lunch hour and the sandwiches and clubs coming out of the kitchen looked big! My food was served to my table in about 10 minutes. The good sized grilled reuben was thick and had thin slices of grilled corned beef (slightly chewy) with sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on marble rye bread. The crispy ruffled potato chips were standard and salted. The chilled tri color pasta salad with pieces of ham had a tangy flavor. The ice cubes in my ice water cup melted rapidly, so drink quickly. Perfect breakfast place. Service was so fast, it was as if they knew what we were ordering before we walked in. Sunday is breakfast only - no lunch items are served. I was in from out of town and decided to try Country Gals Cafe for breakfast. It didn't look that busy except for the large table of regulars talking loud and yelling to one another. We ordered French toast with bacon and home fries. Not a complicated order. The food came to the table in a reasonable amount of time but it was all basically Luke warm. The butter didn't even melt on my French toast . I asked for real maple syrup and I got a big squirt bottle and I'm not sure it actually was. No refill on the coffee and the waitress was too busy with the bigger table and never asked how our food was. My friends bacon was burnt as well. The price is not cheap either. I thought the food itself was tasty but needed to be served hot or at least warm, then come back to the table and check on your guests. However I found an amazing place!!! Out of this world and it's right up the street. Go to the Round House Bakery , Amazing food! I had their French toast and there was no comparison!!! Great Breakfast! Typical breakfast menu. Everything is well prepared, hot, and delicious. And the service is prompt, friendly, and enthusiastic. I prefer sausage patties to links, and they offer a choice of either - a big plus for me. The main room is usually quite busy at breakfast, and the back room has space for larger groups and has a direct outside door, if you - as we sometimes do - have a VERY active toddler in your group. A two day trip from Mass. out through Saratoga Springs, Ny, meandering the back roads through the sweet little town of Cambridge Ny. This was by far the best breakfast we've ever had out!
