I never really write reviews but I was compelled to after going to this place for iftar. After looking up the restaurant on Yelp, the ratings did not seem too promising. I still went anyways with a few friends because we were in the Baltimore area. The place was pretty packed for iftar. Everyone had already grabbed dates and samosas and were just eyeing them on the table haha. As soon as we sat down, the waitress promptly asked if we wanted anything to drink. Literally less than 2 minutes later, there was a pitcher of Coke on the table (yes, yes I know you shouldn't open iftar with soda but it is included in the buffet so I couldn't help it). We then got up to get food, and let me tell you, I became a bit overwhelmed. There are so many options to choose from! I started putting all this Chinese food in my plate (the Kung Pao chicken is so amazing!) but then I saw all the kabobs, chicken, samosas, indian/pakistani dishes, halwa puri...you name it, they had it. Mid way though my blind fury of fasting induced food hoarding, I saw something that caught the corner of my eye. I flinched and looked back thinking what I had seen was a mirage. But no, it was really there! Fried Chicken! Good Halal fried chicken is hard to come by if you only eat Zabihah so I had to try it. Let me tell you, THE FRIED CHICKEN IS THE BOMB! It was perfectly crispy but not overwhelmingly so and the meat inside was nice and tender. I literally ate 4 pieces of fried chicken. It was amazing. There is a kabob station which is constantly churning out delicious kabobs and chicken tikka. I don't know how I ate more, but I did. I was also really in love with their Kung Pao chicken, it is perfectly crispy and rivals most other Chinese restaurants. One of my favorite things about the restaurant is that there is a place to pray and we were all able to pray in jamat for Maghrib. That made things so much easier for iftar. While we were eating, the owner even came by and asked us if everything was okay and if we needed anything. We finished off the night with some amazing chai, that is included in the buffet. It really hit the spot! Overall, I was very impressed with the place. I literally had such a great night with my friends and all we could talk about was how great the food and service was compared to yelp reviews (we usually trust yelp reviews). For $11.99, I don't think you can do any better. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a great place for iftar or dinner! read more

When it comes to taking out a family of 6, the bill really adds up and rarely is there something everyone likes. However, we decided to give this place a try because of the reasonable price and plethora of food available. It's always a tossup with trying a new place, but my family was met with a pleasant surprise when we first came. They have delicious Chinese dishes with General Tzo's Chicken being my favorite, a salad bar, desserts, like ice cream, and tons of Pakistani dishes. There's even a grill towards the back where they make chicken tikka on the spot. The layout is quite large where even with a near full house, the large spaced out tables still give you privacy. Once you are set with your table, you are free to get up whenever and servers will quickly take away dirty dishes. We have been only during dinner, but occasionally they will switch up the menu but still have our usual favorites. It's a great go-to spot for us and when we took my cousins, they too enjoyed it very much! There's also section of the restaurant reserved only for parties/weddings. We got a chance to speak with the new owners and they were very friendly! They answered any questions we had, like confirming the halal status, and even came to check up on us. It's always great talking with them and they take customer feedback seriously. Please do note the restaurant is now under new management which may explain the older negative reviews, but this restaurant is great place with kind owners, and has something for everyone! read more

Amazing Pakistani/Indian Chinese fusion buffet for a pretty good buffet price. There were so many options to chose from that I was a little overwhelmed for Iftar. My family and I use to go there a lot a few years ago but then it didn't taste as good. We found that the new management took over a few weeks ago and they revamped the whole place so now the food tastes delicious!! We were very impressed with the new ownership. They had everything set up for iftar from the traditional iftar food of samosa, pakora, chana chat, spices to add and Rooafsa at the table. My favorite part was the grill, there is fresh chicken, chicken tikkah, and kababs! There is a guy at the back who makes the grill fresh in front of you so the food isn't just sitting there. The Chinese food was really tasty especially the the kang pao chicken and lo mein. The American food was good especially the mac and cheese, spicy chicken, and chicken skewers!! It's hard to find halal American restaurants so this was a huge plus. I wasn't a big fan of the the potato wedges since they tasted a little dry and they also had french fries that I didn't try. The Pakistani food that my parents had tasted amazing, especially the biryani, haleem, alao gobi. The staff is super friendly especially their waitress Rosie who was sweet and helpful. I'm going there again for an iftar tonight and will post photos. There is also a place for Prayer which is nice for Ramadan. read more

This new place Just opened Friday(10/14/2011) It is a HALAL Chinese/Pakistani, Indian, Afghan Buffet/Cuisine. And can I say it is AMAZING! Lal Qila is the best place for Middle Eastern/Chinese Buffet! Best part it is Halal! I live in Virginia and I went to Baltimore with couple of my cousin's and visited the Harbor. So then afterwards we all were hungry and the plan was to go to O's Place, which recently opened in Security Blvd Mall. And so we went there. When we got there we saw a big new sign that said Lal Qila Halal Chinese and Pakistani Cuisine. So we checked it out first and the Place is Huge! Lal Qila has at least 7-10 Lanes of Buffet foods stacked and steaming. So then we checked out O's Place which is right above it, second floor. O's Place had dull food laying around and there wasn't even enough space to eat. We decided to eat Lal Qila and Man can I say the food was Extraordinary! The food quality was Superb and the Management was excellent. Prices are great to for soo much food that is offered. My cousins and I were one of the lucky people to try this place on its opening day. We all had a blast eating here and a great feeling to. The price for the place is perfect.(9.95 for Dinner Buffet, Lunch Buffet 8.00, and Carry out with 5 items of your choice for 6.00). I've been here a few times for the buffet and haven't been pleasantly pleased so I felt the need to write this review since this place has gotten a bad rep. The new owners have improved the quality of the food since my family and I use to go. Like the name it's an Indian/Pakistani/Chinese buffet all under one roof. The buffet offers everything you can wish for and the food was just really delicious. I personally like going on the weekends because the food turns over faster I've noticed AND chai (Indian tea) is included in the buffet price! A reviewer below mentioned 11.99 price I think on weekends its $13, fyi Here's are 2 cents. 1)Indian: best chicken biryani I've had, delicious naan and shami kabab made in those special oven things 2)Chinese: broccoli and chicken, lo mein tasted authentic 3)Dessert: sweet fried dough balls in syrup, yummy rice pudding, ice cream, some type of pastry that I did not try because I was too full 4)Did not like the regular potato pakora, the fish ones were scrumptious My experience was great as well, we were promptly greeted and seated and the place is pretty big so there's lot of space for my kids to walk around. Assalam Aliekum, I live around 40 miles away from Lal Qila and we rented Lal Qila to celebrate my son's Quran Hifz Ceremony The management specially owner was very cooperative to make separate arrangements for ladies , decoration etc. They serve many variety of food around 25- 30 different types including Chinese ,grill and indo-pak dishes, all the dishes were great in taste warm and fresh specially the grill was always on we invited around 150-200 guest and all of them were very happy to see the arrangement and enjoyed the food The owner/management never counted number of guests attended the party blindly accepted the head count when we tell them at the time of payment it was great feeling to see all the guest happy and give very comments about the party and food Al hamdulillah it was worth driving 40 mile to rent Lal Qila and organize the party and I recommend all to try once Note : They serve Halaal Zabiha food Jazakallah Khair read more

When I heard there was finally halal chinese food in the baltimore area I was truly excited. That excitement didn't last very long. The buffet is so expensive 12 bucks a person? What in the world? Most places I go to are usually 9-10 dollars! And the price is definitely not worth the food. I picked up a tandoori chicken piece with blood in it. It was undercooked! If I figure out how to attach photos I will attach the image. When we told the woman at the counter about it she just looked at us as if we were crazy. Rude much? The waitresses ARE AWFUL. they don't care and watch you like a hawk when you go to the buffet. The food is bland, disgusting and looks used twice. They probably keep the leftovers from the day before to serve once again the next day. This place is awful. My brother also had a stomach virus after eating merely FRIED RICE. do not go! Yesterday I hosted my daughter's first birthday party. The owner is very nice to make some arrangement modification as per my need. The setup was completely and well done when we reached there. Food was freshly served in timely manner, The taste & the spices were very well added. I invited 100 people which include desi people & some non desi folkes from my job. Everyone loved it sooo much. Chicken tikka, Paya, Kabobs, fish tikka, chicken meat balls, chines items and I can go on.... everything was so delicious. Well I am already craving to go there again.. The staff was on right there filling up the food, water & taking used plates. From arrangement to food it was just perfect. The buffet was outstanding and included chicken, lamb, and goat (all zabiah hallal). Everything came in different variations too, like curry, masala, etc. The chicken and rice biryani was one of my favorites. I liked the fact that I got to try so many things that I normally wouldn't think to order at a standard Indian/ Pakistani restaurant. They even had Dhai Baray, which are lentils dumplings in a cream sauce. VERY GOOD! To top it all off, you get fresh out of the over naan brought to your table in addition to all the buffet food. My husband and I had good buffet food at the restaurant today with our friends. Like the other reviewers said that they had a good buffet for a reasonable price ($11.99). We ate the Chicken Tikka and their Naan that were both warm from the grill. My husband liked their Pakistani food and I liked their pizza and sides like Samosa, pakoras and chana chart. Next time I'll try the Chinese food, I was too full to try it today. I think I overdosed on caffeine since soda was included in the buffet, and that was nice. The waitress was friendly and it was overall a casual place. My son was upset because they ran out of ice cream so I had to ask for that and the watermelon took a while to be refilled. read more

One of the best places I've gone to for Indian cuisine. Everything I had was yummy (except for the chicken kabobs...which was the reason I visited the place b/c of a referral after seeing a coworker bring some to the office for lunch). The reason that I gave this place only 4 stars is b/c when ordering the from the dinner menu to go, the princing is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get. They do have a buffet in the evening (or at least on the Friday that I visited), and I did see a sign about a Lunchtime Buffet. For the cost, that might be your best option. However, as far as the taste of the food....AWESOME...and persons that waited on me were really nice as well. read more

Lal Qila price $13.49 right plus dishes naan,tandoori chicken, kabab, halem,nihari,paya,chicken briyani,chole puri,Spanish, dal, okra, mixed vegetable. Deserts halva,kheer and Chinese food on left side so many dishes try here big place good for marriage party good for birthday party good for baby shower good for ramzan party good for business meeting party. I thought this food was great...until I found half a roach's body in my food. Of course I was grossed out. And as I read the other reviews I am relieved to see that it wasn't just me hallucinating the whole thing. I had gotten take out Chinese, with the rice and the different Chinese options. When I got home I found the roach and I was close to vomiting my food out in fear of some sort of stomach virus. My friends and I returned again after thinking for a long time. We dismissed the roaches assuming it was a one time thing and it does happen SOMETIMES just to find yet another pair of roaches in our food. Do. Not. Go. Here. Avoid at all costs. read more

I have never been to a better Halal Buffet. They have a lot of variety including American, Indian/Pakistani, and Chinese food. The Kabob's and Naan's keep coming out fresh, and they do a good job making sure all the food tray's in the buffet get refilled in a timely manner. I've been here probably around 10 times and the staff has always been polite and helpful. It has a relaxed environment and is an easy place to go especially with family. This is the perfect place for dining out as there is huge selection available, whether it's lunch or dinner. I love the halwa puri there for breakfast. My family loves coming here as there is something for everyone, the kids love it and the adults can enjoy the freshly made Chinese and Asian currys. We had a dinner meeting at this restaurant last night with about 75 attendees. Starting from reservation to execution and to the quality of food was excellent. Cordial owner of the restaurant made sure that we received utmost care. Hall was set up by the time we arrived. I've been going to Lal Qila for nearly 3 years, and every time the food is great. Although, the service was lacking at one point, when we brought up the issue with the owner, he told us that all we needed was to ask him for a certain food item, and he'd have it freshly made for us. Last night I had my daughter's 16th birthday party in this venue and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was very good and freshly cooked.
