Horrible place, with mess all over. Seat covers were stained and grossly dirty. Bathroom was extremely stinky. Food and mess on the floor. Tables were covered with food residue and when asked to clean, it was cleaned with a wet towel that left whole table wet. Food was old and burned out. First time there ! They had food buffet variety of different dishes including sweets . From Chinese to Pakistani dish! Food quality was excellent! Prices were reasonable and and service was amazing!! I must say customer service was excellent. The cashier walked with us and showed us the way to the buffet and offered us free samples before we start eating, and welcomed us! At the end they made us fresh kabobs and didn't charge us for the Kabob they also offered a home dish they made which I loved!! I highly highly recommend this place. Best halal Pakistani buffet In the Baltimore area and suburbs. Huge selection of high quality food. What more could you want. Have the right expectations when you walk into this place and you will have a great experience. It is a Desi/Pakistani place. So has the ambiance to fit it. You will defiantly feel it as soon as you walk in. The food is authentic. It's near impossible to find real Pakistani find food with the right spices. Everything is too watered down. But Lal Qila does a great job at it. The buffet selection is huge. Has kabobs, grilled chicken, dozens of different dishes, Chinese halal (which is actually very good). Most importantly, they have the best halwa puri you will find anywhere. And the desert menu has Wide selection. The kheer is always on point. I go here about once every month and have never been disappointed. The place is a absolutely packed during Ramadan. And has all the things you could want to break your fast (pakora, samosa ,rooh afza etcetera). Definitely makes fasting worth it. read more

From start you should know that this place isn't very fancy- its barely ever populated, is in the middle of a mostly forgotten mall, there's barely any waiter service, and the tables and carpets are stained and a bit sticky. But I go to restaurants for food. And as far as Indian buffets go this is great. The food is not the same quality you'd get at a classy Indian restaurant, but for what you're paying, the amount of selection is dazzling. Fill your plate with biryani, white rice, chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken, etc. Then go back for more! This is a buffet, its in a mall, why would people expect it to have great decor? We went for my nephews 1 year birthday at around 8 p.m. They had about 8 rows of food and a separate BBQ Grill section where the chicken tandoori, bihari chicken (best dish), and seekh kebab's were made along with the naans. They have about 2 row's worth of chines food which are also really good. I stayed away from any fried stuff because it's probably just pre-packaged frozen stuff. They had PURI'S!!! I was a happy, fluffy kid after dinner. It's located in some random mall outside of Baltimore near the AMC Theatre. By the way its only $13 a head for the buffet! read more

My friend went here on Saturday night and loved it. She recommended the place so highly that we went to the buffet on Sunday night (it doesn't take much because I loooooove food). There were surprisingly quite a few people there--and more were arriving as we left around 8pm. The price was decent but it changes on nights and weekends--$12 for adults and kids over 10, $8 for kids 6-9 and $4 for kids 3-5 for the time we went. The selection was pretty good. They had salads, sushi, steamed shrimp, Chinese dishes (like sesame chicken, black pepper chicken, black pepper beef, Gen Tso's chicken, and my fave--chicken and broccoli), soups, American dishes (pizza, fried chicken), and Teppanyaki chicken. They also had a huge selection of Indian/Pakistani curries, chaat, fresh kebabs, naan, salads and desserts. In short, they have a HUGE selection of foods. I grabbed mostly the Chinese food, which was awesome. Great quality and delicious. I'm giving that side of the buffet 4.5 stars without qualms. The sushi was ok. They had a tempura shrimp one. Yay! The American side was ok so that was good. The chaat bar was great to see but the flavors of the chutneys didn't seem right. They had unripened tomatoes (yuck) but they had bhel puri (yum). The Indian kebabs, while super fresh, were a little mealy and kind of plain. The naan is AWESOME. I mean AWESOME. The curries that I tried were just ok, but maybe I didn't try the right ones. The desserts were ok. Desserts at buffets usually aren't anything special--why is that? I think dessert makes or breaks my meal. These ones didn't make the meal, but they didn't break it either. The service was good. Waiters were walking around picking up plates and refilling sodas pretty regularly which is always nice. I'll definitely come back and try it again. We were scared going into this mall and restaurant. It likes walking back to the 80s. The food was much better than I thought it would be. The Chinese food was especially good. The Indian food was just ok. The brunch was reasonably priced. The atmosphere is rough. The place is not well maintained but that's probably due to the building. It is also right across the road from the Best Buy in the Serial Podcast. The place is scary looking and run down but the food is good. Definitely not a place to bring a date. I will come back to eat all the good food. Surprised this place has such a low rating on here. We had no interaction with the staff except when we paid in the beginning. This is my very first review, due to how disgusted I was of the employee's behavior. I can't even rate the food due to how disturbed I was before I even ate. The waiter was rude, we were 20-30 people, the waiter was extremely rude, unprofessional, the food was cold, and literally half the food was finished and we had to wait 20-30 mins for it to be slightly filled up before we could eat. When complaining to the owner, he didn't even bother having eye contact. He was just on his whats app chatting with somebody and just ignored me. The waiter never gave us enough soda jugs, and when asked for more, he denied us and told us he already gave it to us.. that he never did, for the drinks we paid for. Had a catered event there and everything was done well. No complaints. Food was prepared fresh and was good. All the guests appreciated the variety. Have seen numerous bad reviews here about the buffet so not sure whats going on? For our catered event (100+ people) they made everything fresh so it was good. read more

You are looking for just a food review well then I definitely recommend this place for Pakistan I food only. All of it is very good. But sanitation and cleanliness aspect of it this is one of the dirtiest places I have ever eat at. Although this is not a hole in the wall it might as well be. The tables were wiped down right before we sat down. It smelled so bad I had to tell them we are moving to another table. Then add I'm eating a Roach climes out of the booth seat right from behind my shoulder. So me being discussed by all that I looked under the table and it had nasty sticky drips from improper wiping of the table. And there bathrooms are broken down dirty smelly and door are broken. This is not a typical Indian/Chinese restaurant. We went on a saturday afternnon which looked like a slow day. The food made in BBQ grill was good - it had kabobs, tandoori chicken as well as naans (which I thought were ordinary). The gravy based food was greasy but acceptable. I liked their Haleen and had almost 2 bowls worth of it. In the dessert section, I liked the kheer and their chocolate cake which I like anyways unless its badly made. One of the other Indian sweet was bad. I have never been to a place where it felt like a chinese buffet that served Indian/pakistani food. Over 4 rows of Indian food in addition to chinese and other american cuisines. Prices are about $13 per head without drinks. I would come here back. Boy, what a bad experience. Save your money (and time) and go someplace else. The service here is terrible. The place wasn't clean at all. The food was constantly cold, even when they were bringing the refills. I would rather have a few food options and be good, not a 100 options and taste terrible. The only saving grace (and my reason for giving it 2 stars instead of 1) was their BBQ (kabobs and chicken tikka). It was being cooked right in front of you so it was quite fresh and tasted delicious. I still can't figure out every time I go there (4 times), we had a wait time of at least 30 minutes. Ambiance is bad. Food is terrible. I'd rather have a choice of few food options that taste good as opposed to 20-30 food items all of which taste bland. Having said that, I regularly get a few key dishes from them catered which are fantastic! Bihari kabob and seekh kabob are great if you get them catered and I still don't understand why they taste different from the menu items which they serve in the restaurant. Giving them 3 stars only for these 2 catered items. P.S. don't go here in Ramadan. I made the mistake of going a few times and aunties were fighting over chairs and the food ran out and it took the kitchen staff 30 minutes to refill the food items. TURN AROUND AND RUN! This restaurant was atrocious the only thing that was good was the Kabobs everything else was mediocre. The chicken was dry customer service was ehh, they got our plates but never asked to refill our drinks. We didn't get our utensils till half way thru the meal even after we asked multiple times. A preface, this is going to be a long review. When I first entered Lal Qila, it was bleak and desolate. I felt as if I were a refugee going to a camp to eat. (Okay, it's not that bad but it had FEMA vibes). The decor is an attempt to seem inviting, appearing to be a relic from yester-years, though clearly unintentional. but at the surface it is blatant that nobody cares; the owners certainly don't. The food itself: it's amazing how much individual foods taste like each other. I can pile my plate up with each dish, and it would all be bland and tasteless. The only two foods I tried (granted I did not try all the dishes, about 10 or so) that stood out were the chicken kabob and tandoori chicken. The tandoori chickens spices at first seemed mild but grew harsher as particles of spice that hadn't been properly cooked fell off the chicken. The meat itself was smokey and slightly rubbery. The chicken kabob tasted like watered down chicken kabobs. Coding thoughts: Lal Qila claims itself to be a Halal Indo-Pak Chinese restaurant. Frankly, pick one, either be Indo-Pak Cuisines or Chinese food that's halaal. There's sprinkles of each type of food offered, and random pastas as well. La Qila could be better if they had a smaller menu that could be cooked consistently. Also a lot of the food was mislabeled, as if the dish presented used to be there but was discontinued. Freshness was hit or miss, leaning more towards miss in most cases. The staff were nice enough whenever the were around. Don't come here unless you can only eat halaal meat, can stand a run down location, and are okay with mediocre (at best) food. read more

My second time here...first off its Eid and I think there should be an extra effort made on a holiday with the food. They also didn't even have clean plates...when they did bring plates out they were still wet. How do you mess up pizza? It tastes like cardboard. The fried chicken was yellow huh? I went there this past weekend and was very disappointed. Online it said they serve all sorts of falooda but when I asked, the menu was not updated was the answer that was given. It had a lot of variety of different foods but most of the food was cold, and dry. Nothing was labeled to know what was what! Language was another barrier, the servers did not know if they had certain foods (online menu) or not. Kept on directing me in different directions. I bought paan, the lady said there were fresh, but actually a couple of days old. Not sweet, not fresh not worth to pay for seperatedly . When online it was part of the menu. When I mentioned it to the lady she said it needed to be updated so instead of checking things on line to call her in the future. I highly doubt that I will take a trip of 73 miles away again. We decided to give this place a try since we've already been to Tokyo Seafood Buffet before. We came in and paid 29 dollars for 2 including drinks. This was around 3pm on a Saturday. We waited till the waitress came and asked what drinks we'd like. We both said unsweetened iced tea. She got us water. There was a wide variety of foods to eat ranging from Indian/Pakistani, Chinese, American, sushi to individual ice creams. The problem? The food was stale, as if it has been sitting there since morning. The kabobs were incredibly dry and tough to eat. Tandoori chicken was a bit dry but overall pretty good. Some of the other foods like the chicken and goat curry, the sauces were exactly the same and was very greasy. The chicken's texture was like tree bark but the goat was surprisingly very good. The Chinese food was your typical stuff. Mediocre at best. The American fare was worse. Pizza was either too bland on 1 part, and too salty on the other. Fries, potato wedges, wings, etc were all stale and dry. Sushi? In all of the pieces I had, none of them contained any fish or seafood. The individual ice cream cups you get were freezer burned and each bite felt like you were eating vanilla flavored mud. The desserts were pretty good though. From the rice pudding, cookies, to a cake that looks like flan. All were decent. Overall the food quality was a 2 out of 5. The service was terrible. We've asked our waitress for unsweetened iced teas numerous times and each time she brought us back water. Till the 4th time, her partner finally brought us unsweetened iced teas. If you want stale food, this is the place to be! On every occasion, the food is horrible and smells a few days old. They honestly might just be reheating leftover food that they didn't finish the day before. Along with this, the atmosphere is bad too. It's located inside a mall and the area to enter from isn't necessarily the safest. The seating in the restaurant isn't efficient either. There's a small area to the right where events occur (birthdays, ceremonies etc.) and a main seating area by the buffet. The entrance is very cluttered due to this. Awesome buffet! Let me stretch before I write this review because it will be long. They have American, Pakistani, and Chinese food all under the same roof. The first time I went here, I simply hated the taste of the Pakistani side of their buffet. It did not taste authentic at all. It looked fine but the spices were so far off and I could not tell what I was tasting. The ambiguity baffles me to this day. I vowed never to return here. Then one day, I don't recall why and how, I ended up here again with family and we loved the food. Spices were on point. Since then, this is our most frequented buffet so far. They have pouri bread, need I say more? The place is huge and rows of dishes go on and on. There are so many options and I can never try everything in one visit. That's right, I don't eat here, I just try because I get full by just sampling the gazillion dishes they have. Be careful at the salad and condiments bar. We noticed that the yogurt sauce was bubbling, so just watch out for freshness or lack there of. The staff is friendly, helpful and carries good conversations. Another attraction for us here are the vending machine with stuffed animals. We play them a lot and have won quite a few teddy bears, monkeys and cows lol. I was here for an iftar, and it was pretty good! Maybe they've listened to the Yelpers with the bad reviews? I dunno, I presume they've listened & improved. I ate well. I mostly prefer the chinese stuff (versus the indopak desi). So I ate plenty of the fried rice, the beef and chicken dishes, the meat on a stick, and others. The lo mein too. It was all nice, flavorful, halal. The only thing that was pretty bad was the rice pudding/kheer. They need to work on that one. Their restaurant is big and expansive, and for Muslims, they have a very good sized prayer hall, which is unheard of with Muslim restaurants.
